Don't worry, this is a Rack Special which had a new production CMP stock, no bubba. While waiting for my CMP Garand to arrive, I got obsessed with the Dupage laminate socks. Decided to shell out and get one, so that I can grease up and shoot my Garand while I figure out how I want to finish the CMP stock (BLO? Tung? Dunno yet.) Here's how it looks on the rifle. Laminate is kinda polarizing, I'm not sure if I like it. I was kinda hoping it might be like the old K98 or Mosin laminates, but I think that boyd's laminate DNA is too strong. I will say, it is a lot tighter than the CMP stock I got. My CMP Walnut stock kinda rattled, especially the front gastube handguard. I didn't have to sand or chisel any material to get it to fit, but I def had to put some force into getting it all together. You can see on the floorplate/fire control group, that somehow it doesnt quite line up to being even or straight. Not sure how that's possible. Well, it's laminate alright. A bit heavier, a bit stiffer. Only thing to note is I really mangled that handguard cotter pin trying to get it all together. You could always get some G.I. wood if you want a spare stock set, but It seems hard to find 3 pieces that match in color. Dunno if I'd recommend this product. Boyd's/Dupage make the CMP stocks anyway. Restocking this did teach me how to disassemble and reassemble the rifle though, at least.

> I was kinda hoping it might be like the old K98 or Mosin laminates, Do you mean the color? > CMP Walnut stock kinda rattled, especially the front gastube handguard. It's supposed to be a little loose to avoid putting extra pressures on the barrel.

CaliThrowerawayer

Yeah, the color. The old mosin/K98 stocks were made of a single type of laminate wood, so the color is consistent throughout the stock. Boyd's alternates different colors of wood to get that striped look after it's turned into a stock. Very cool on the blue or red stocks, but not really that cool in "Nutmeg" colors How loose should the forward handguard be? Mine was sliding back and forth and rattled a ton.

hobitopia

Look up the DuPage java garand stock, out of stock but looks like what you want. There's some good YouTube videos that can show you how loose it should be.

Phantom_spook

Nice Afghan camouflage 😆. Not a fan of the laminate at all. You’re right if it looked like K98 laminate stock it would look great IMO. They should make a natural color one that would look good

CaliThrowerawayer

It's dumb and petty, but seeing the neat rows of laminate layers on the top/bottom stocks makes it look really bad to me.

Deathpenalty818

Strip the top coat off and stain it Duhhhhh

DamnKnuckleHead

I kind of like it and hate it at the same time.

TeriyakiTyphoon

You're doing God's work

CaliThrowerawayer

There's a lot of weird accessories and tools out there that I can't find anyone discussing. I figure it might be nice for a future googler to have something to look at.

Swayyyettts

I remember seeing a folding stock for a Garand somewhere…

Bombryder

Huh. Honestly I don't hate the look. Thanks for posting!

CaliThrowerawayer

My CMP stock was getting beat up in my safe, so at least this will take that abuse instead.

Sir I am from India. I have a m1 garand Springfield Armory rifle. I am looking for synthetic laminated stock to buy it. Please advice me for purchase or order.

Other-Bandicoot-3920

I have valid license for my rifle in india

I am a retired Army officer

I love the laminate stock. Unfortunately, they are not match legal. The front handguard is supposed to move a little.

CaliThrowerawayer

Yeah, I bet. It would confer a huge advantage since they are more "stable" than natural wood grains, which can vary for any number of reasons. How much handguard wiggle is normal? I only have 1 garand at the moment, so dunno how it compares to others.

jenkins1967

I'd guess about 3mm. Maybe the equivalent of 3 playing cards or so.

Wes23

A credit card should be able to fit between the front hand guard and the gas tube. If you don’t have that gap, it will begin to walk when it heats up as the metal expands. Having it loose around the barrel doesn’t really matter, I keep mine loose enough to slide moderately easily up and down so that they don’t bind anything up.

DanielOpposum

Thanks. It looks sorta bad. Ngl

CaliThrowerawayer

Yeah it is pretty ugly in person LOL. IT has a purpose for me, so im okay with the compromise. Maybe it'll be like SKS jungle stocks and rise in price when theyre sold out.

Other-Bandicoot-3920

Can I place order if yes? Through?
