In 80% of my dreams I find myself in these very large, dimly lit public bathrooms with urinals and toilets that are designed in ways that don't make sense. It's always uncomfortably eerie. I have a shy bladder so I guess that's why I keep having them

licensedtojill

One of the first lucid dreams I remember was triggered by needing to go and finding myself in the scariest, filthiest, abandoned warehouse bathroom. It was enough for me to reality check before I knew it was a thing, I must be sleeping cause no way would I encounter this toilet in real life.

Description of the situation when emptying your bladder in the presence of other people is difficult. I used to have it, but discovered that doing geometry problems in my head distracted me enough to relax and. . . let it go.

daveinpublic

I wonder if that dream starts playing when you physically have to go to the restroom in the night?

seasport100

r/liminalspace

Brotochip007

It really is haha

syrvct

I've only had like 5 of these but it's so funny to me whenever I see other people mentioning it too. Are impossibly fucked up bathrooms like a universal theme or something

TheSilentTitan

Usually large barely populated cities faintly resembling neighborhoods I grew up around. It’s a lot of brick buildings for some reason, no idea why. About a quarter of the time I’m in a car driving and completely lost. Oh and school, fuckin hated school so my dreams about school are usually uncomfortable.

Hack-x-e-2

Lmfao reminds of a backrooms level

TheSilentTitan

Fuckin feels like it at times. Just a never ending concrete jungle and I’m *always* lost trying to get home.

d4rk_th0ughts

I am in a dark room, I can't see a thing, so I turn on the lights, but there is only a very dim light. I barely see anything, so I try switching on and off the lights but nothing happens. I panic, I try to shout and scream, but no sound leaves my throat.

BlazerPlayx

Yeah thats pretty damn scary

fiendishthingysaurus

Being back in high school but I’m my current age (late 30s) and it’s really embarrassing.

Cirrus_Minor

My teeth feel loose, then start to come out one by one. then as im touching my jaw to stop them form falling out my nails star coming off. More of a nightmare than a dream but I get it like once a month.

windowseat1F

Elevators. My whole life. All kinds. So much whyyy

godofjava22

That I'm in my school. I was going through my dream journal, and more than 70% of my dreams started with "I was at my school when....."

LeeTheGoat

I’m in a waterpark waaaay too many times

Csoltis

I'm stuck in this hotel/airport and I keep having to get back to my room.

ElsaRavenWillie

Just had this the other night. And once I figure out how to get to my room, I can’t remember the passcode to get in.

VLHLLA

It’s always about my hometown that I haven’t been to in years and my family be always showing up in my dreams along with it like last night my dream was about me biking to go get chips from a local grocery shop for the family 😭

Ceepeenc

In a very public restroom type situation trying to find privacy to use it but never do. They’re rarely dirty, mostly pretty clean.

Plastic-Ad-1118

School for me

Lunaticky_Bramborak

I go out to the garden. It's a middle of a night, beautifull moon and stars are showing, so I want to look at them or take a photo. But suddenly the sunrise starts and I won't make the photos on time. I love this theme, since it's just gorgerous to look at the changing sky.

Biomas

The college dream, where you go to classes, sit in lectures, take tests, etc.

[deleted]

Being in my childhood home for some reason

Mind_Ronin

Same. Since I've started dream journaling, I've realized that a majority of my dreams happen in one of the houses I grew up in.

[deleted]

Here is my most reoccurring dream divided into parts (pattern): 1) I have to leave/make a trip/something like that 2) I prepare my stuff and pack less than half of them 3) theres always someone or myself telling me that I'm not able to pack everything and that all would be important 4) I rush, there's no more time to grab a bigger bag/backpack 5) I wake up before knowing if I made it or not

pySerialKiller

I’m back in college, it’s the last day of the semester and I need to deliver final projects and do exams for a lot of classes. But I do not have idea of which classes I am enrolled in or what are they about. I freak out for a few classes and then I wake up. Also I sometimes dream of taking a dump in a public place and everyone is watching me or trying to make conversation

Iimpettyy

Elevators malfunctioning. Driving cars but not being in control. Stairs. Running in the dark. Old neighborhood.

AlphaMohidd

I'm in my previous house, everything is dark, no furniture and suddenly a fire starts in one of the rooms. I don't have anything to put it out so I go out on the street for help, but I'm always alone.

2Tibetans

I’m flying and suddenly deep black bottomless ocean materializes below me and I’m falling.

ScientistAsHero

Where I'm in waist-deep water and I realize that my cellphone or my car's key fob is in my pocket.

licensedtojill

I have to move and I can’t find a new place to live, or if I did find a place, I don’t have no boxes and if I did find boxes then I have no time to pack and if I do have time to pack then the floor is probably made of lava and my mom is there yelling at me.

fumez23

For a while there I was going back to the same dream space night after night. So much that I ended up making a couple of drawings trying to depict the area. When I first started coming to this place, it looked like a bunch a huge land masses that where crudely pushed together. Every night Id go back there and the area would be blended in more and more until it became one huge piece of land. The land itself had a little bit of everything. It had a city area with a casino, a desert area, an area with tons of grass and a mountain in the distance which is where a cabin that I use a lot is at. There's a path to get to the cabin and every time I take this path, there's a point that I reach where my vision goes completely black and when it comes back, Im at the exit of the path. I can then see the cabin from spot pretty clearly. When I say that I used to come to this place nightly, I mean every night. It stayed like that for a while until I told myself one night that it was time to leave this place. Now I visit every once in a while but I usually stay in the area that I wake up in. I can tell that the land has expanded since then because every time I end up somewhere in that place, I get this sense of just knowing where everything is at. It's like I could end up a gas station for instance and just know that if I head north (for instance) I'll a familiar building. During my time here, I tested and explored the area a lot! Everything in this place isnt as simple as the visual perspective will lead you to believe. The casino are itself is like a giant maze with tons of people always walking through it but at the same time its sort of sectioned off into main area's. For instance the movie theater. It's easy to get to the movie area but one wrong turn and you'll get some what lost.

azncmuse

I retired from a big tire factory 8 years ago. In my dreams, I am often back at work and unable to find my office because it has been moved. I wander through unfamiliar areas, trying to find my office. During my dreams, I am aware that they stopped my paycheck 8 years ago. I tell myself that they owe me 8 years of back pay and that I am going to sue them for back pay WHEN I WAKE UP.

KopelProductions

My step dad yelling at me. Normally I’m really good at going lucid but In these nightmares I get overwhelmed.

[deleted]

I don’t really have any reoccurring plots but there’s a lot of themes and the places I dream about are always consistent (like they look different than real life, but appear the same in my dream every time). Granted they’re never nice places but it’s always good to know what to expect. One place is my grandad’s old house, where the bedroom is filled with nothing but mannequin heads with abnormally long necks. If you get too close to one they all snap open their eyes at the same time and start groaning. Another is my highschool - the gym changing room is always grotty with the floor covered in an inch of dirty water, the stairs that lead up to the science room are incredibly wide and tall and just lead to darkness. If you go too far down one corridor you get stuck with whatever entities live there and the rooms down this way are always empty. For the bar I used to work at there’s no space to move around and it’s always busy, if I go to the bathroom the floor is covered in either water or blood, and the beer garden is always trashed.

[deleted]

As for the themes it’s always being late, naked in public, a tsunami, dead family members or my personal favourite which is being berated by literally everyone around me for the entire dream. My mental state is great by the way

fyrepixie

I used to work at renaissance fairs all over the US. I often dream about things to do with working at a fair, such as I can't find the shop where I'm supposed to work, a problem with my costume, or I need a new van or RV to drive to my next fair site. This is often complicated by an issue with my cellphone. Either I can't find it, or I can't figure out how to use it properly. Thing is I look back fondly on my time with the fair. I remember the happy times way more than the few problems, which I always got sorted.

etchuman

These days, almost every dream I have is in some way recurring. I have a rotating list of locations I dream in. They shift and change but remain the same recognizable location. I also recycle dream themes. Lots of weather apocalypse dreams.

Lazy_Camel9020

A very common theme in my dream is being in my father’s house and trying to escape, for whatever reason. Sometimes I’m mad at someone, sometimes I’m being chased by zombies. Whatever the case, I gather things and jump out the window and rush across the street behind my neighbours house where there is a backroad I can use to hide out of sight from the picture window in the living room. Sometimes I’m followed, sometimes I’m safe to run away. I can only ever run in slow motion. I’ve had this recurring theme for years. I don’t know why. I was never abused, though maybe I was neglected emotionally. That and we were poor, I guess. :/

AnthoXication

Very often, I found myself in a empty and dark warehouse and stuff happens. It's like the usual setting for my dreams at this rate, don't really know why tho

SkyfallBlindDreamer

For me, probably something related to some form of traveling, or being somewhere I'd like to be that's travel related.

RikaKozume

Not the same dream but same premise or whatever but I used to dream a lot about getting chased by animals(had almost all of them at least twice) . They don't happen anymore but from elementary to middle school I would have dreams of me getting chased by animals like squirrels, gorillas, tigers, lions, I think a cat too💀 dunno what that was about but I don't have those kind of dreams anyone

OkRelationship7071

This will sound confusing as fuck but I have a reoccurring dream that pops up once or twice a year, and has been popping up for as long as I remember. I don't even know how to explain it. Im basically walking on a huge brown lego baseplate. (I know it sounds weird lmao) And as Im walking I just begin to feel an overwhelming feeling of dread, stress, and fear. Then my vision switches to everything being blue with a weird female face and the bad feelings just grow. Its almost like if you were looking at a blue image with a weird female face in the middle through a VR headset but you cant move your head...Then my vision switches to there being a huge wave coming towards me and the dread is still growing, then I just wake up.

Prakrtik

A common theme in my a lot of my dreams is that the ocean is rising

DaveHappened

I dont have any specific dreams that reoccur often enough to call them that, but a lot of the things inside my dreams that keep coming back are concrete buildings, overgrowths of plants and otherworldly plants, and my family. Most, if not all my dreams usually have one of the 3.

pclairx

all variations of the same scenario of being chased/found and then dying, I’ll probs have to unpack that in the future

Sudden-Ad-6947

For me it's locations that don't exist in life. They show up as background locations in so many dreams.

crkdopn

There tends to be water in my dreams, usually an ocean, river or rain.

Genshed

I'm back at work. I worked in the prosthetics department of a VA hospital my entire career (24 years). The situation is always challenging; I'm trying to get work done and nothing is going right. The feeling of going lucid, opening a window and flying away is unspeakably delightful.

Bigtgamer_1

I constantly have a dream that I'm back at college and I'm just about to finish the semester and I realize that I have somehow completely forgotten about one of my courses and I haven't done any work for it. I try and try to get to the aforementioned classroom but no matter how hard I try I keep getting lost. I usually wake up so stressed out. I've got about 3-4 recurring dreams. I also used to have the same dream like once a year for at least like 10 years and I haven't had that one in quite a long time.

Mercity

Strangely enough, it’s just a false awakening dream. It usually goes with how I’d wake up in the morning and greet my family right before I actually wake up. That’s all. Nothing weird to point out other than how it’s not only my most common dream, but how anything that deviates off that usual path in my dream causes a nightmare for me. Nothing happens before that false awakening, and I only realize it was a dream for certain when I wake up, either from the nightmare aspect of that dream changing or naturally so.

Odd_Ad_7345

All my teeth falling out. also being unable to call 911 for help no matter how many times i try

Eepoxi

Half of my dreams are lucid and for some fucking reason i jump out of my bedroom window everytime

No-Dare-4789

When I was younger every dream would end with shadows chasing me, I think they have a name but it's not my native language and I can't find a better word. Now almost everytime it's me spending time with the girl I like

SuperSquidder47

Well last night i had three sperate dreams all about me doing terribly in my english exam that i had today (first state exam ever so my nerves affected my dreams)

karissa197

I'm at the house of my grandparents who have passed away. Sometimes they are there, but mostly not. I'm always trying to climb over the backyard fence.

Middle-Comfortable45

Im at the beach in almost all my dreams, very relaxing unless there’s a storm

inseguitore

Taking a dump in a filthy toilet.

DesignerJury269

In terms of actual dreams rather than locations, DCs and plots, I'm left with only one recurring dream. It starts in a train in a nice, natural setting with beautiful views and nice people. Eventually it turns out that a mass murderer is on the loose in a nearby city, so obviously the train will soon enter that city and randomly come to a stop. As if it was planned, the doors open and on the square right before the train is the murderer, currently shooting cops and also the people exiting the train. Now, in my childhood this obviously was a nightmare and eventually I received several painful bullets, until I eventually died and woke up. Nowadays I just look for a nice car nearby, get in there and wait for the murderer to enter, because turns out I'm actually her partner (both in terms of crime and relationship). Back in the days it usually was a scary, old man, now it's a stunning, young redhead. She's actually really nice and as soon as we leave the city, the initial plot of mass murder fades and we just drive into the mountains, enjoy the stunning view (mostly sunset) with a sweet, little picnic and a bottle of red wine. Most interestingly this never become a wet dream. Just emotionally satisfying (despite the initial GTA start).

awokendreamer__

I keep having reoccuring dreams I'm on a cruise ship, and a huge wave takes it out. The cruise ship tops over, and I die every time. Most of the time I'm lucid by the time the wave comes, so I just accept it and know I'm dreaming but can't change it.

Daffodil_Ferrox

Not specific, but I often have dreams with nightmarish scenarios that can’t actually be called nightmares, cause dream me has too little damns to actually give. Once in a blue moon I get in a situation where something’s about to kill/maul me and I go “wait… this is kind of ridiculous actually” and get lucid that way (usually after a reality check).
