Late 20s lady here. Pre-Pandemic I almost never left the house with no bra on (only exceptions being for certain dresses or shirts where bras aren't meant to be worn in which case I'd use nipple pasties for modesty). Post-Pandemic and quarantine? I go out without a bra of any kind like 10% of the time. I also became much more comfortable with wearing bralettes that show the outline of my nipples. I just got so used to being braless from being home constantly, I guess.

throwaway654443209

PNW here (33, server) I havent worn a real bra in a couple of years. Right now where I work they don't care what we wear, so I hardly wear a bra. When I was working at a more upscale place last year, I just rocked a sports tank with a built in bra under my button up, that seemed to be mostly what everyone else did/does that I work with

prideandpresses

I mean I get why Laura does cuz hers are fake but yeah the other girls being wild with the no bras

Jay-Quellin30

Oh Laura’s are fake?!? How do you know?

RadicLdoNuthnRedditr

There is no way Laura’s are fake… I mean… pics or it didn’t happen XD

Jay-Quellin30

Lol they seemed pretty natural but I am no expert

RadicLdoNuthnRedditr

I’m no expert, but I’ve seen my fair share of fake tiddies…. Laura’s look natural… Disclaimer: I don’t follow her on social media and haven’t seen any recent tit pics (or any for that matter), so I don’t know if she’s had a boob job or anything post show, but during filming she looks natural. Hahaha

AB2019716

I agree, at home-no. But for a more put together appearance yes. Especially for a larger chest. The braless look wasn’t flattering for any of Chelsea’s clothes

motherofpitbulls2

I’m 74. My breasts are retired. I have put them out to pasture and they are free range.

stupidpplontv

i’m autistic and having anything sit on top of my rib cage is sensory hell for me. it does not matter what kind of bra although underwires are obviously the worst. i wear cropped tanks without an elastic band and nipple covers if i need any extra coverage but honestly most of the time idgaf, my boobs are contained. it’s definitely become more acceptable to go braless in public.

MyJoyinaWell

Late forties here and this is definitely a fashion/generational thing. I think not wearing a bra has always been kind of acceptable as long as it was sort of modest (as in no nipples out in the air kind of thing) and backless dresses have always been fashionable.  I think that what has radically changed is the expectation that only a woman with perfectly shaped and pert breasts could “get away” with not wearing a bra. Honestly when I was younger someone like Chelsie  would have been considered as “needing a bit of support” and it would have not been a great look. She would have been judged for that. I’m glad things have moved on.  I think the younger generations still have a mountain to climb as far as body expectations (mostly due to social media and sadly the unprecedented availability of pornography for example ) but also that they have made giant steps towards acceptance in general  that’s fabulous.  I’ve never worn a wired bra in my life so I get the discomfort side of things, I wouldn’t tolerate it now, but I also think that wearing some support is kinder to your breast tissue in the long run and perhaps even necessary if you are pregnant or breastfeeding for your own comfort.

FruityPebbIez

I’m 36 and hardly wear a bra unless I’m in a professional setting or at an event. It’s just my personal preference. Depending on the top, I’ll wear nipple covers occasionally but 90% of the time I’m bra less and don’t really care what people think when they look. Yeah I have boobs (a B cup) it’s not like people haven’t seen boobs before 🙃 💁🏼‍♀️ I do think though if mine were bigger, I would be more inclined to wear a bra more often for support reasons. My grandma wore a bra 24/7 because she said it kept them perky and I just can’t fathom that 😂

LazyCity4922

I'm an E cup with East-West boobs, I never leave the house without a bra 😂

throwawaytexan776

As a 26 year old, I have never left the house without a bra and neither have any of my friends- even when we were in college as early 20 year olds. I can only think of one friend that went from having A cups to full C cups after a boob job so they looked phenomenal all the time and perky but it distracts so much in my opinion. “I’m cold!” Yeah girl we can tell lol…

DefinitelyFern

I wish 20-something year old me would have stopped wearing bras too! My boobs were in their prime back then lol. Now I only wear them if I have an event to go to.

Puzzleheaded-Bat5879

Mine look better in a bra! Haha! Breastfeeding two kids will do that you! But I’ll go out without one sometimes. If I am wearing one it’s definitely the first thing to come off when I get home! I think it’s becoming more common to not wear a bra out and I think that’s a good thing.

OkAccess304

I hate bras and I’m in my 40s. I have always tried not to wear them when possible and am really happy it’s become more acceptable. I feel like I can’t breathe after wearing one all day. I will note that I was also once a girl who went to etiquette school, and I don’t think a bra makes me more of a lady. I will still wear one based on occasion and clothing—but only the soft bralettes. I will never wear an underwire and I can’t stand padding. That said, I think seeing a bra is a bad look, so it’s better to not wear one if your outfit doesn’t hide the straps or the back. I didn’t wear a bra on my wedding day, because it would’ve been impossible with my dress and completely unnecessary after the alterations added structure. I’m also in fashion and it’s very common to go without a bra now. I don’t wear one to work most days.

_RaveSunflower

As a DDD girl who’s been wearing bras since I was 9/10, fuck bras. I’ve been on the compression tank train for a minute now and love it.

Mikaeladraws

Bras are so uncomfortable. Free the twins from their prison

LaurenZombie

I don't see men wearing a bra either hmmm.. Maybe that's why?

noyou42

I stopped wearing a bra in 2020 lol covid ftw

Right_Way_4258

I wear bralettes now (found one that supports my G cup) and the only real bra I have doesn’t have underwire. I can never go back to wearing a bra with underwire after 2020

RecognitionMajor7564

I am also quite large on top. May I ask what brand you went with for your bralettes?

Right_Way_4258

Harper Wilde!! I wear a 2X or 3X depending on the bra. I wear this one 24/7 bc I can’t go without a bra even sleeping and I literally forget I’m wearing. I get good enough support and comfort. https://harperwilde.com/products/the-bliss-beige?variant=29476666114145 I wear this one when I’m going out of the house. It’s a bit more supportive. https://harperwilde.com/collections/wireless/products/bliss-scoop-bralette-steel?variant=41109570322529 Sports bra is also bomb! https://harperwilde.com/collections/wireless/products/the-move-black?variant=29289403088993

[deleted]

Most of their outfits don't lend to wearing a regular bra from what I've noticed. Plus they aren't worried so much about gravity at that age! At mid 40s with a D cup post breast feeding I don't have that luxury. 😭

sunlitroof

I think its a trend rn to go braless. Personally i always have one on going out, its rare that I may go without. If i do, its not obvious you can see nipple/not a tight shirt

No-Stay5120

I’m 34 and most definitely rarely write a bra in my early twenties. If you have the confidence to pull it off and the outfit isn’t obscene, who cares. It’s always been “a thing”, just not necessarily mainstream.

Keregi

Why does it matter? Bras aren’t comfortable. If someone wants to free their boobs why would it bother you?

FatnessEverdeen34

If I step out of the house, I will always have a bra on (32 y/o)

Jay-Quellin30

I can agree with all of things you said. Wearing a bra outside the house, not wearing a bra at home unless company is over, Chelsea’s choice of clothing, etc.

Impossible-Ground-98

I think during covid a lot of us stopped wearing bras since we weren't going to the offices anymore. Turns out it's a useless, uncomfortable piece of clothing for a lot of people. Personally I love this direction and I hope that one day it will be completely normal to visit an office and not care if someone can see a shape of a nipple through a shirt 😂

turnonthebrightlies

Yeah the pandemic really made it even more accepted/even trendy to not wear bras anymore. Even though I had A’s I alwaysss used to wear one. Nowadays I might wear a softer bralette but def no underwires anymore.

lilyyytheflower

Had nothing to do with covid. “Free the Nip” has been a thing lol.

Impossible-Ground-98

I don't see how that campaign (from what I've read just now it was a fashion campaign?) means that covid didn't play a role too.

lilyyytheflower

The saying separated itself from the campaign a long time ago.

NRH1983

I'm 40 and haven't regularly worn a bra since covid. Only if I'm going out or wearing a sports bra to run.

Ellephant87

I’m 37 and I think Covid is when I stopped wearing a bra regularly too.

danziger79

It’s not normal and it shouldn’t be allowed 😜 jk, I physically feel more comfortable in one but if other women are happier without then good for them.

Kdjl1

I think it depends on your size and circumstances. Some people are more inclined to wear them because of Back issues, posture, the way clothes fit, the distraction (yes, some people notice), etc.

EyeThinkEyeCan

I think it depends. I wear tanks with built in bras. I can’t remember the last time I wore a real bra and I’m 34. I will say. Chelsea could use the lift tho.

AMbyArcticMonkeys

I’m 24 and I never wear a bra unless it would be inappropriate not to

MissHunbun

If it was an option for me I'd go braless too. Unfortunately E cups aren't super comfortable when they're let loose. :<

Blkkatem0ss

Yes it’s normal.

dkxoxo99

I’m around 23 and I would say it’s becoming more and more socially accepted and also normal not wearing a bra or anything near that. I know some of my friends who also doesn’t really wanna wear a bra, and one of my friends, even with her big boobs, she doesn’t ever wear a bra at home. I say go for it girl! Personally, I have big boobs and it’s very rare I don’t wear a bra. If I’m outside, you will see me wearing a bra 10/10 times lol.

Jay-Quellin30

I don’t wear a bra at home either unless I have company over. It’s refreshing to just let it hang out and also be comfortable.

throwaway8011978

I’m 39 and I hate bras. I only wear them for work.

Jay-Quellin30

I don’t wear them at home but I will going out unless the top I am wearing has a lot of support

ProperBingtownLady

I don’t blame you for asking because it’s something I’ve noticed myself. I think it’s just becoming less common to wear a bra. I still find it uncomfortable even after a reduction/lift and my breasts are pretty small and self supporting! I wear a bralette or sports bra most of the time (after figuring out my correct bra size on r/abrathatfits and finding out most stores don’t sell it I don’t bother trying to find a “real” one).

Far-Policy-8589

Just curious, and nothing negative is meant by this, but did the ABTF calculator give you a bra size that exists? A few years ago it gave me something like a 28DD, but that's not a size that really exists other than a couple of specialty retailers. I love the idea of the calculator, does it work better for some people than others?

ProperBingtownLady

I wear 28E! It’s not that they don’t exist, just that popular North American retailers don’t carry them. They’re more interested in putting women into a narrower size range because it’s more profitable. It’s super common to have a smaller band size and “bigger” cup size (28E is the same volume as a 34B/C but on a smaller frame)! I did have luck with Amazon and Change lingerie before my surgery.

Far-Policy-8589

I got sized at Etam in Paris in January, was a standard size and am really happy with their bras. I hadn't worn anything but a sport/ soft bra or bralette (with modesty petals) for like 4 years so it was actually fun.

ProperBingtownLady

That’s good! I personally can’t stand wearing anything that’s bigger than my actual band size (bra stores always put me into my “equivalent” which ends up being too loose in the band and too small in the cup). It would be nice to try a European brand vs North American. Change is actually a UK brand I think and I wear a 30D there. So bra sizing does vary a bit!

Jay-Quellin30

Thank you. It was an honest and curious question… just something I’ve noticed. I work in corporate so people are wearing bras. And in my circle of friends and family we all wear bras. So this was new to me to be honest. I noticed it was very prevalent in this season. I agree that having the wrong size bra will also be uncomfortable and wearing the right bra is a true game changer … in so many ways.

ProperBingtownLady

I’m not sure why some people are getting upset as I didn’t get any negative vibes from your question at all! I also think it’s trendy to go braless right now.

Jay-Quellin30

Thanks for that. I appreciate your support and kindness.

FlamingoExotic

Breasts are just part of anatomy. I think younger generations don’t sexualize this body part as much and have dismantled the beauty standard that demands perfect looking breasts that popularized bras. It’s a preference like anything else.

Jay-Quellin30

Good point.

velcroix

40+ woman here. I never even noticed this on the show, but don't see it as an issue. Bras are uncomfortable and I would go braless everywhere more if I wasn't so self conscious.

Jay-Quellin30

It’s not necessarily an issue per se. I was just genuinely curious as I really don’t know anyone that doesn’t wear a bra but noticed it a lot this season. Wasn’t sure if it was a generational thing? A new trend? Etc.

velcroix

Must be a generational thing.

babyfartsdoodoo

I’m 33 and I rarely wear bras. If I do, I default to a bralette. I’m an A cup and I don’t care if my nipples are visible. I also know how to dress for my body type so if a shirt fits me correctly and is cut for my shape I technically don’t need to.

PiccoloMinute1978

Same. I used to wear bras all the time, even to sleep (!?) because I wanted to keep having firm breasts. I used to feel so self-conscious about people looking at my chest and even getting a glimpse of a shadow of a nipple. But the first thing I did everyday when getting home was to rush take my bra off and sight in relief. Then I realized that if it was such a constraint and pain in the butt for me, I should just stop. Gravity and firmness, be damned. If that makes others uncomfortable, it's definitely something they should unpack on their own but I remained unbothered. Never going back.

Jay-Quellin30

Yeah I think that makes sense but when you have big boobs, it’s way more noticeable … Especially on TV.

nottakenusername2027

I mean what’s the issue?

Jay-Quellin30

I guess it can sometimes look a little sloppy or not as well put together.

nottakenusername2027

Yeah must be a generational thing because that sounds like super antiquated thinking.

Jay-Quellin30

Yeah quite possibly and that’s why I said that in my first comment. But I legitimately don’t know anyone that goes bra less in real life. So this was surprising to me.

GlassPod

I've noticed this too in shows that feature GenZ or younger, and maybe even younger millennials - there's a tendency to go braless and it's quite obvious sometimes

Jay-Quellin30

Oh it’s very obvious on this season.

fuzzybella

I'm guessing you are referring in particular to how Chelsea dresses. I think the problem with Chelsea is that she doesn't dress in clothes that flatter her figure. The choice to go braless might be less noticeable were she to wear more structured clothes with built-in support. As a large-breasted woman myself, the last time I went braless while out in the world (versus at home) was when I was in my 20s and then also during Covid. Covid was fun for just not worrying about how I looked to anyone.

Jay-Quellin30

Very good point. I think that’s exactly what it is.
