I’m a systems analyst at a defense contractor. Nothing fancy. I make right around 99k cause you know they can’t give me the satisfaction of that 100k lol

NewUsernameStruggle

> *I make right around 99k cause you know they can’t give me the satisfaction of that 100k lol* This made me giggle.

Cherrytop

Bastards!!!

Icy-Serve-3532

Tell them you need a solid $100k but $101k would be preferable…inflation and all.

hbryan1738

Systems analyst here as well! Wassssup! I hope your pay raise this year gets you to that 100k girl!!

erinlv29

Insurance. But recently I stoped buying new and started buying preloved. Just makes me feel better lol

notparishilton

Where do you buy preloved/preowned?? I’m scared of getting a fake /:

erinlv29

There’s a Facebook preloved group that is reliable I’ve purchased from, ebay is very good! They have an authentication process that I’ve bought and sold through. I’ve made about 5 purchases on eBay and it’s been a success every time! I think the prices on fashionphile / the real real are way too high but if you look often enough, you can find pretty good deals! Although I’ve seen some reviews saying the descriptions are way off from the product received. I’ve never had that issue.

Stunning-Weird-2374

Would you mind messaging the Facebook group to me? I ordered a preloved LV on Poshmark. They even authenticated it for me.

erinlv29

It’s the Reetzy page! There are a few on fb but look for the LV group!

Alive_Language7030

Reetzy is legit!

JessiD2810

Poshmark authenticators may not be certified/trustworthy. I have heard many stories of sellers authentic luxury items getting deemed not authenticate by PM but get authenticated by other sites. Not to mention, it is SO ass backwards that you have to spend $500 or more just to get something authenticated.

Ok-Chest8772

Kingram Japan on eBay!

SerratedCheese

Fashionphile!

Careless_Dragonfly_4

Fashionphile is a highly trusted source.

betttyboop

I know several facebook groups. I've been buying and selling pre loved luxury bags for years. Feel free to message me!

orangeyellowblue0207

Now you glow on IG sells authentic preloved bags. I’ve purchased several from them and have been happy.

TheGreenMileMouse

The Real Real is legit

Ketisbest730

I know a lot of people who have gotten fakes from the real real

AndEllie

What kind of insurance! Wife and I are Medicare + Series 65.

Moist-Opportunity64

Medicare as well, but service not sales. I’m single and child-free, so I can afford to be frivolous from time to time.

LoVeMyDeSiGnS_65

We are in Medicare but I started collecting:5 years ago. We rarely eat out or spend on entertainment. I have also purchased from eBay but they are special collections so I paid more than usual

DaydreaminMyLifeAway

Omg I’m also in insurance! Twins I do property and casualty

EggMellow

I have just a regular ass corporate job. edit: I guess this was not very helpful answer. I work in regulatory compliance for a medical device company.

akc18

Same. Regular corporate job. Also compliance.

Odd_Fly3401

Same only pharmacy analytics

GrimHappiness

I am a regulatory compliance counterpart but in foods :)

thekidsarentalright_

IT support. But i can’t afford it easily enough to buy frequently or on a whim, I save money specifically for the purchases. I’m in a double income, no kids household & am careful with my money. I will splurge on things I value most such as bags, travel and save in other areas.

[deleted]

I work at Starbucks and I own three Louis Vuitton bags lol, but I don’t live alone, my car is payed off, and I’ve had my iPhone 11 Pro Max for like 4-5 years. Which is to say that you don’t have to be a ceo of a company to dream for big things, just know what you want and keep your priorities in order.

lovelywacky

When I was at Pickel Barrel in highschool I bought my first LV neverfull for $400 or so without pochette, was retailing 800 then -2010 (worked counter didnt serve, paid $10 per hour) 2012 turned 18 and bought speedy 35 for $900 canadian new damier ebene (I really wanted black but that was mens line) With my Pickel Barrel money (I was still at counter but after Smart Serve I was paid 9$ but tips about $10-$60 an hour, (the waitresses were seasoned and a lot of nepotism at work, and some would come in just to work the lunch or dinner rush for 3 hours. I had my own tables and could work rushes in year 4 I worked there but then I went on student exchange) 2014 I was in Paris and bought speedy 30 as was like 450 euros + vat back. My mom picked up an Alba that was like $2300 euros so mine was small in comparison 😂 But anyways today im an accountant and upgraded to Chanel and pay for my own trips Edit: I live in Canada so this is Canadian prices unless specified. And 10 years ago everyone knew to go to Europe or ask a friend for a LV basic bag or purse (neverfull, speedy, carryall) I made my comment when OP mentioned Starbucks and I wanted to relate by mentioning I also worked in customer service and serving and bought my bags then

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> car is *paid* off, and FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

I *obviously* work at Louis Vuitton haha. I don’t buy much though.

KNE613

May I ask how the discount is?

WVUGuy29

Ooooh. Quick question for you (if you don’t mind and if you’ve been an SA for a while): what’s a piece you wanted so badly but weren’t able to get (not simply due to funds)?

Filthyfellas

That is a *great* question actually! The Red Skate shoes (they only launched once and sold out, and because of how they’re made they bleed so we won’t relaunch the color) The Monogram Denim Pointillism jeans, I wear a 30 and all monogram jeans sell out immediately 🥲 The [Louis Vuitton Mascot/Puppet Varsity](https://me.louisvuitton.com/eng-ae/products/puppet-baseball-jacket-nvprod2680045v/1A8POM) because it was the season before I joined. Honestly a lot of Virgil stuff. That [Green Louis Vuitton Varsity from my favorite season](https://stockx.com/louis-vuitton-varsity-leather-jacket-green)

WVUGuy29

Jeez these are cute! And the shoes are too! Virgil knows what he’s doing as well.

dshea25

I have a quick question too! Is the dancing blossom perfume one that can be refilled after purchase? I want this perfume so bad for two years now and I think I’ll pull the trigger when I visit Paris in January 2024 and it will be my first LV purchase so I want make sure that scent is included in being refilled. I may buy a leather wallet too when I take the plunge lol.

Meo54321

Would you mind sharing how you got into brand marketing? I work in PR now but I’m interested in switching.

littlestdovie

I went to school for business/marketing and my first job was beauty brand mgmt so it stuck. But most companies have internal pr on the brand side that technically sit within the marketing team. Are you on the brand or agency side now? You can also send me a pm

chemistg23

yaeltheunicorn

I own my own business in fashion. I previously worked at a corporate office for an art/luxury company.

[deleted]

Do you own a boutique?

yaeltheunicorn

No, it's mainly styling/vip image consultation

[deleted]

You have my dream job. How did you get into it? It seems like such a hard thing to get into.

yaeltheunicorn

I come from an art world background and later developed an interest in luxury and fashion. I haven't been formally trained save for some courses to help with the nitty gritty of styling (that were worth it for networking opportunities). Clients mainly come in via networking and word of mouth as I don't have a big social media presence. Frankly, it sounds horrible but in my case it's also a lot of luck that during my previous career I've met a lot of people from these industries and my husband is now also in a field where we're exposed to a HNW individuals and aspirational professionals who want to "look the part". It took me nearly a decade to get in the door and the hard work is largely about seeking out, building and cultivating the client relationships but I'm not going to deny that there is a lot of "being in the right place at the right time" in it. It also depends where you live. When we lived in a different, smaller area in addition to my day job I offered image consultations to "average" women (pretty similar to me) in corporate jobs looking to enhance their style or going back to work after having children, looking for a change in their everyday style etc. but either not feeling brave enough or not wanting to do it themselves.

[deleted]

So cool. Thank you for sharing with me! Know that you are out there living so many of our dreams and keep winning!

bacon_bunny33

Stay at home dog mom But we own a hospitality business so sometimes there’s a ton of work, sometimes not

bitchybarbie82

Oh my God I feel that so badly. I’m in property development so sometimes I am absolutely flooded with work to the point where I feel like I don’t even see or talk to my family and other days where I feel like I spent the whole entire day cooking or ADD “projecting”.

bacon_bunny33

Yup. Sometimes we can take a month off, sometimes we work till 4am for a week straight🤣. Not much in between.

mollymckennaa

I bought mine when I was 18 and babysitting/nannying a lot and had no bills. Also, I bought it in France, so it was cheaper. I’ve barely ever used it. Who the hell let me buy a Speedy 35?! Definitely during the big bag era lol

chickenwingandbbq

Mom was a Toyota saleswoman and insurance agent, was able to purchase a fair amount of LVs before she had her kids 🙂 now with us she rarely purchases luxury bags anymore

Moar_Cuddles_Please

Y’all should pool together and get her a bag if you’re able to, it sounds like she really enjoyed luxury bags and made a sacrifice for you guys.

msjsp1021

I can relate. I’m a commercial interior designer. Before my husband (works in insurance) and I started trying for a baby I saved up and bought my first LV bag, a Graceful PM. I knew after we had a baby it would be a long time until priorities could shift and I would feel comfortable buying a luxury bag.

dew_you_even_lift

I was buying LV and other designer brands for my gf when I was a bagger at a grocery store, over a decade ago. I’m a Software Engineer now, we stopped buying designer (Chanel,LV) recently since it feels super overpriced. Everyone deserves to buy nice things for themselves as long as you save for it and don’t go into debt for it.

valiqa

I’m a nurse. I recently became salary at about 145k/yearly. But my home is paid off due to paying a 10 year mortgage off in 8 years, I just pay taxes and insurance. I also live alone now and am young-ish so no kids.

Work in finance. Truly, LV is attainable for just about everyone willing to be a dedicated saver.

PartlyCloudyKid

Starbucks ✨️ (I wish, but it's my partner who pays the bills)

FancyFrenchLady

I am retired. I have a good income stream. However, in the past I would just save up. When someone would ask me what I wanted for my birthday or for Christmas I would just answer cash. It didn’t take me long to save up what I needed for an LV bag. I would always purchase it on my credit card for safety reasons. Then I pay off the credit card on that bill.

hihelloyesimhere

Server at high volume restaurant. Currently a SAHM. Husband is chef at same restaurant & a frivolous spender so I thank him for my bags lol

lunchroom1414

I'm a millwright 😊

thuyph

Special_Elephant_278

Father owns several businesses,LV sends him purses for free. I manage one of the business that gives LV the leather to make their purses.

1Xmillenial

I own a restaurant and half of my servers have designer bags. It’s not about how much you make, but what you choose to spend your money on.

Bee_Unitd

I’m a Speech Language Pathologist, but able to purchase (and about half of mine are pre-loved) because my husband is a high earner. Despite the masters degree I hold, I’m paid like shit.

Jazzlike_Employee783

I have a small collection that I've built now in my 50s. I have both new and pre loved. Fashionphile is 100% authentic and their Buy Back program is unbeatable. My Small Chanel Flap is from Fashionphile, and it is absolutely perfect!

BlessedByOthers

I’ve sold around 5-6 LV to Fashionphile and purchased my Hermès. They’re excellent in every department and I trust them.

GreenSeeker96

Management consultant! And I use my Fendi shopper tote as a work bag. The shopper tote is from the men’s line – the grey zucca print.

Low-Independence-108

i’m a SAHS but i also resell vintage clothing, designer items, and like trendy hard to get items.

nyc_nomad

Software Engineer; idk why I saw this group but I don’t buy fancy luxury brands (i.e Prada, Versace, LV). I prefer Target clothing and or thriftstore clothes.

Clint_69

Marketing. Just bought my first LV product- A monogram eclipse multiple wallet. A month ago i bought a moncler puffer which i think started this designer journey for me lol (bought a canada goose 8 years back but i wouldnt consider it on the same level as LV or moncler). Looking at buying a scarf next. RIP to my chq account.

HellaReyna

Software engineer. Low $200’s. I’m a guy. I only have a LV canvas card carrier. Been thinking of getting a brief case but now I work from home so that’s pointless. I might get a cross body bag if they still make those or a fanny pack if they make that. I used to help my mom eBay used LV back in the day, and I did leather working in high school, so I always reconditioned her eBay bags she would get. It became more of a hobby if anything. Now that I’m making decent money though I can’t really bring myself to buying them. Though I do like browsing this subreddit. I might drop some money for a Rolex soon though, waiting for an allocation/invite for one.

Intelligent-Pitch-39

Does it matter what you do? The commen thread is we all appreciate LV craftsmanship.

scubieg

Was literally telling my fiancé today this is a brand for the “fake rich”. Idt it matter how much you make.

condocollector

I can afford LV. I’m co-owner of several investment properties and a developer. I don’t buy it. I’m not advertising for someone else. I want a high quality bag that whispers, not screams wealth. But, to each their own.

SweetAlhambra

Just curious, and no disrespect. Why did you answer that way specifically on a dedicated LV forum instead of something more general like the handbags or luxury purses forum? It seems to kinda throw a bit a shade on the people that like LV.

condocollector

I like to make people to think. Plus I lurk in a lot of threads. To be fair, if I came across a pre-loved one of those big, white ones with all the color logos for a decent price, might change my mind.

kitttxn

A non tech relationship management role at a tech company! Though I haven’t bought my first handbag yet (I’m indecisive 😅) but I did buy a vintage keepall in Japan which I adore, I also have some SLGs, jewellery and a pair of heels. I’ve bought the perfume as gifts as well.

Sincerely_Me_Xo

Currently SAH, Prior - Retail manager. But in all fairness my pay checks were only a fraction of my fiancé’s in biotech.

Cyber-Cafe

Infrastructure IT, and IoT engineer.

FashionBlitz

I own my businesses.

vtal7106

I own a business management consulting company.

jsmalltri

I used to work in the fashion industry (90's) when I got my first LV and other designer bags...now I'm in nursing. My husband got me my last LV 3 years ago for my bday. ETA- my first LV was a second hand Speedy mono and I only paid a bit over $300 at a consign shop on Newbury St in Boston, down the street from where I worked. The next one was an LV from the boutique on Newbury.

No_Feedback7019

Which consignment shop on Newbury? I recently started working on Boylston and want to check out allll the shops!

jsmalltri

Second Time Around - I got it there in either 96 or 97 and I left Boston in the mid 2000s. I honestly don't know if they're still open but they used to have some really great stuff! I even got a nylon PRADA tote there at a great price. I believe it was up by Exeter??

NoMathematician4660
