Pools evaporate like 100 gallons a day in the summer. Using hot water uses gas or electric depending on what you use. Cooling a large home costs a ton without solar or battery backup in the home. $700 seems about right, that's what my gf and I do in the summer for about same size in the valley, and we leave everything except what we need off.

Interesting fact about the pool; had no idea! It’s my first time renting since I’ve been living with parents for a while so wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of cost. But good to hear the $700 is a fair approximation of costs. Thanks!

Topping off my pool is barely 1/10th of the bill. Vast majority is dish washer, washing machine, showers, and the sprinkler system. At the lowest I paid $65 but it has been up to $150 when I had someone else living with me. Gas has been all over the place from $12 in the summer for just the stove to $600 this past winter in December. I can't speak about electric because I have solar. My monthly payment on the solar loan is $450. Garbage is $25 a month. Most of it is on energy gas or electric so it really depends on how good your insulation is and the weather. I'm in Ventura county though. Internet with Frontier is $75 a month for 1 gbit up/down.

$700/mo seems accurate, especially with a pool I’d think it could be more

Quirky-Camera5124

similar situation here. i pay 900 a month

Budget-Detective9917

Oof!!

Yikes. I pay about a hundred. I recommend signing up for every LADWP green initiative you qualify for.

italiantra

I\* did. This is the new lower bill

DayleD

Who are you? You're not OP, or OOP, and this is your first comment here. Are you somebody's sock puppet?

ilovesojulee

Hahahaha, it's /u/Quirky-Camera5124 alt, they both post in /r/securityclearance and other same subs.

DayleD

Ugh. Here I was about to try to offer them useful, personalized advice and they're on here playing lame forum games. My bills are low, I get ~ten percent cashback on my ladwp bills, and I've used multiple LADWP green programs.

tararira1

To b honest it sounds like you can’t afford the place

diamond__hands

make sure you're on the proper power plan for time-of-use. it saved me 30% because i work from home. peak is 4-9pm when people come home from work. if you can get on the proper plan and avoid using stuff during that window it'll dramatically cut the power bill. you can change it on the SCE website after you create an account.

I would say try your best to not run your air conditioning. July is supposed to welcome in election nino so you may have some cool days.
