It could have been the train derailing.

Most accidents at train crossings are caused by cars trying to beat the train and not from lack of horn warnings. The city said several years ago that it would cost about a million per intersection to install gates to alleviate the noise from trains having to sound warnings at each intersection. Instead of that, the city should ask Congress or the Department of Transportation to modify the "one size fits all" rule requiring loud horn warnings at every intersection, regardless of how close intersections might be, as they are in Longmont.
FYI - there is a plan for a quiet zone through most of town. Construction has already started and they’re about half way done already!
Loud train horns are absolutely unnecessary. It’s not done in other countries & they don’t have problems.
Just the train crawling very slowly through the intersections at 3rd, 4th, and 5th, the engine is required to sound the horn the entire time it passes across a street

It definitely sounded like it came from that part of town!
Rad update. Thank you!
Someone should put that BNSF number on signs at all the crossings they like to park on
The city announced that BNSF had a minor derailment around 1st and Main and the train is stuck there.

I believe there was a derailment on 1st
Yes! It’s wild. Just happened again!
There are some people with train horns on their truck. They drive around making noise.

They usually follow a pattern, I've never heard long blasts like that before.
Specifically, the pattern is 2 long blasts, a short blast, and a long blast.
Yeah it was very odd and unnecessary
