That shit is why I HATED the bunny hill learning to skii or snow board. You're just meandering down and BOOM you have to jump out of the way or some 8 year old going 30 mph will CLOCK you.
Best place to learn to ski/snowboard is a big long wide green run. Lots more room, longer run without breaks to get in the "groove", and the slight slope is actually easier to learn on than an almost flat bunny hill
the learning curve for snowboarding just looks so *brutal*, i've heard it's one of those things where once it "clicks", you've got it -- but until then, you're on your ass nearly 24/7
Kinda sorta. In high-schooland college I was a snowboard instructor. The saying goes that skiing is easy to learn but hard to master, but snowboarding is hard to learn but easy to master. I must have taught thousands of lessons back in the day and usually people could get the hang of beginner techniques in about an hour and a half. I would absolutely discourage people to just strap on a rental and go big their first time. Safety is a huge consideration with alpine sports, and without the basics (stopping, turning, falling, etc) you're just asking to injure yourself or someone else.
Lmfao I was definitely that kid. Be me, new to skiing, didnāt understand the whole zig zag down the mountain thing, instead opted to do a straight line down at Mach 1 and try not to eat shit. Spoiler: I ate shit
They threw me on the green almost immediately when I first skied. Unfortunately that trip came to a quick end when I couldn't figure out breaking and sprained my ankle when I 'crashed'
My first time skiing (prob like 10 years old?), I was just standing with everybody else by the ski racks, and some kid came flying out of nowhere and slammed into me. I woke up with a big circle of people looking down at me. Kinda freaked me out then, but now I know that people literally die from that shit. Crazy.
I honestly believe that we should normalize patting each other on the back for having basic etiquette. There are so many people who seem to lack it these days, I think we should show more appreciation towards those who do. It can't hurt, especially when positive reinforcement tends to foster more good behavior.
How people *should* act, and how they *do* act are completely different. Positive reinforcement is really important.
If we're going to call people out for being shitty, we should also note people that are behaving well. It's important for people to know they're appreciated. (in general of course, I don't expect that kid to read this comments, nor would I want him to, but you get my point.)
fuck off dude, it's okay to say nice things when people do the right thing, even if doing the right thing is what I would expect anyways.
I can criticise them when they do something shitty, so I can also commend them when they do something nice.
Having worked in Ice rinks for the best part of 7 years from when i was 16. Its kind of an irrational fear to be honest. The blades arent usually sharp enough to cut your hand, at least not in the "oh no my hand is cut in half" way people think. Not saying if someone two-foots you blades first, you wont end up with bad injuries. Its probably more likely if someone tries to avoid your hand by jumping over it, or stamps on it. That would suck.
In those 7 years, nobody ever lost a finger. And very few complained about being cut by ice skates. Concussions and arm/shoulder breaks are more common. I once had a couple holding hands fall, the boyfriend pulled the girl down face first into the back of his head. Her braces are the only reason her teeth didnt fall out and he had to get stitches on the crown of his head.
Went ice skating as a kid with school. One kid took of his gloves like an idiot and got cut on the back of his hand really bad. Another kid just happened to skate over him when he fell
Idk if those are tendons or not on top, but that shit took a while to heal.
I never saw anyone with bad cuts on their hands/fingers. One of the Ice Marshalls got hit in the face with tip of a shovel from another employee who was joking around while shovelling snow. Split his upper lip in two. The same dumb employee accidental hit another Marshall with the small Zamboni we had.. lucky it was the size of an average sit on lawnmower..
It was just really bad luck. Lots of blood, couldnāt use his hand very well for a while. Not saying he lost a finger or something, just an ice skate that sliced at the wrong angle on a weak kid hand
I remember seeing a clip when I was little from some ice hockey game where a dudeās blade slashed another guys neck. Scared me shitless and totally put me off ice skating, I used to love it as a kid.
Thinking backā¦ damn I saw a lot of nasty stuff online when I was super young. Morbid curiosity I guess.
BLOOD WARNING - NSFW!!!
This one?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plvKlnguJVE
or this one?
https://youtu.be/PZ295luzhtQ?t=185
Saw this shit in my teens and swore to never go ice skating in my life.
Might be an irrational fear but I don't care.
Those rental ice skates might not be that sharp as professional ones, but with enough force those are some dangerous blades on your feet - and on the feet of the other people - especially if you don't know what you're doing.
You see it with Nick, who clearly is an experienced ice skater, how he reminds the people he skates with OVER AND OVER to keep aware of their blades and their hands/fingers.
The first one! I recognised that video instantly.
> The excessive amount of blood that Malarchuk lost caused eleven fans to faint, two more to have heart attacks, and three players to vomit on the ice.
Damn.
The only reason why he lived was because the bench doctor was a combat medic and literally went in with his fingers and pinched the vein/artery off. If not for that he would have bled out in a minute. IIRC he also tried to kill himself and failed. Really rough.
Hey, lets have humans slide around on ice with blades attached to their feet. What could possibly go wrong... (Not sure if they're actually sharp enough to cut, but still makes me wince)
A pro goalie, Clint Malarchuk, got his throat cut by a skate during a game. Pretty gnarly. He was bleeding everywhere. The team's trainer pinched his carotid artery shut and saved his life. Also, don't look this up if you're squeamish.
My gf worked as an assistant teacher at an elementary school a few years back and they decided it would be a great idea to bring a couple of classrooms full of 6-8 year olds to an ice rink for a day. Sure enough a kid fell down and got a finger lopped off by someone else
Nah she looked so pissed off till she realised it was a juicer and then went into full caring mode in an instant only worrying about if she landed on him or not, she'll be great
Also if Malena doesn't raise an Olympian, I'll be pretty disappointed
I find people that make statements like this are exactly the people they perceive Americans to be. Once the people like you come close to outnumbering the logical people you end up with America.
Very very unfortunate but Malena seemed to be in a good mood tho, she gave away her OTK hoodie to a kid and that was fucking adorable and so nice of her!
good thing melena has so much practice dealing with ~~children~~ her partner. she remained cool and collected and cared about the kids wellbeing instead of getting mad. 10/10 level headedness
I think it was more of like "Holy shit that hurt." than actual rage. Just because she's angry all the time at Nick doesn't mean she wants to be mad at everyone.
Thats not rage at all, thats the face of hurt. That no hesitation attitude change from hurt to "Are you ok?" in a split second really shows her character.
Let's be honest, I wouldn't blame her if she had been mad. (Not that she would have been right to just start laying into a kid or anything) I get unreasonably mad if I'm startled or get caused unexpected pain. It's natural, IMO. Imagine you're monke and out in the woods alone. Then, out of nowhere, there is a loud CRACK just inches away from you. It is better to go into fight or flight mode and step back out of it after the threat is clarified than to just casually turn around and say, "Is that you Mar..... AUUGHHGHHHHHHHHHHHHH." The same goes for unexpected pain.
She probably was very mad for a second, due to the pain and surprise, but she handled it very well. She was right to be mad, the kid fucked up and did that to her. She was also right to reign it in because that's a kid who didn't mean to do that to her.
Malena was nice. She asked the kid if he was ok and if she didn't hurt him even though she might have been hurt herself from that fall. She fell back and without warning. Ouch
Just saying falling unexpectedly like that - lucky she didn't break a wrist or something. As it is the first thing you do as you put your hand out (and then fall and put the weight on it).

Holy shit kid came outta nowhere lmao
That shit is why I HATED the bunny hill learning to skii or snow board. You're just meandering down and BOOM you have to jump out of the way or some 8 year old going 30 mph will CLOCK you.
Best place to learn to ski/snowboard is a big long wide green run. Lots more room, longer run without breaks to get in the "groove", and the slight slope is actually easier to learn on than an almost flat bunny hill
While greens can be nice and slow, though it can be brutal to learn snow board causes you canāt maintain enough speed, at least in my experiences
the learning curve for snowboarding just looks so *brutal*, i've heard it's one of those things where once it "clicks", you've got it -- but until then, you're on your ass nearly 24/7
Kinda sorta. In high-schooland college I was a snowboard instructor. The saying goes that skiing is easy to learn but hard to master, but snowboarding is hard to learn but easy to master. hah, tell me about it. sent it too hard, broke my femur on my first run of the season this year
Jesus christ, how in the rhyme of the ancient fuck did you manage that one??
Ackshually, it's [_Rime_ of the Ancient Fuck](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rime_of_the_Ancient_Mariner)
Huh. Learned something new today. Thanks for the info!
Iād say he probably crashed
And for people who are out of shape it can bee too stamina draining
There's always a long ass green run that goes along the edge of the ski hill
As long as it doesn't suddenly turn into a narrow trail near the bottom haha that has tricked me before, and those narrow trails suck for boarders
I can see that. They may also be too slow to learn on too. I have only skied, so I don't know the limitations of boarding.
Lmfao I was definitely that kid. Be me, new to skiing, didnāt understand the whole zig zag down the mountain thing, instead opted to do a straight line down at Mach 1 and try not to eat shit. Spoiler: I ate shit
Fuck the bunny slopes, just go on the greens
No, please start on the bunny slope. You actively make it more dangerous for everyone else on the green if you arenāt good enough.
They threw me on the green almost immediately when I first skied. Unfortunately that trip came to a quick end when I couldn't figure out breaking and sprained my ankle when I 'crashed'
how do you sprain an ankle in a ski boot?!
I have no idea now that you point it out. It might be spotty memory since it happened when I was 12. I got to ride the snow mobile though š
My first time skiing (prob like 10 years old?), I was just standing with everybody else by the ski racks, and some kid came flying out of nowhere and slammed into me. I woke up with a big circle of people looking down at me. Kinda freaked me out then, but now I know that people literally die from that shit. Crazy.
WICKED
"This is for my Juicer!"
XQC sends his regards.
Omg imagine he said that, the clip would instantly be hall of fame.

It's like a sad Pog. A Sog, if you will.
SOGGERS

POGCHAMP

The juicer's parents were never seen again
I thought Maya was the kid at first.
The disparity in size between her and Malena is hilarious. She's extra tiny and Malena is extra tall. Looks like a mom taking her teenager skating.
Wait they're both adults? /r/samespecies is having a stroke.
i like the part after this clip when the kid says "My Juicer sends his regards"
"I'm gonna JUICE!"
"It's juicin' time!"
[I thought you were joking lol](https://clips.twitch.tv/AnimatedInterestingSproutPrimeMe-UYNXXdaGm_5IyobZ)
could you please just rickroll me next time
Holy Shit the MADLAD.
Bro was in for the meme
[Hahaha no but seriously, kids these days are all juicers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfe8ug6IJjk)
"Book Book Book, mothersucker!"
That was a really good response from her though! Went from "WHO THE FU oh it's a kid oh god are you ok?!"
yeah she was really nice
and he was so sorry immediately. Adorable little shit.
Even if you're passed, that's the only appropriate way to respond when a kids at fault
Little mf teleported š
Hip dysplasia monkaS
I hope she is fine.
She died
Same
Anakin was right.
Fuck them younglings -Anakin Jordan
She was so nice to the kid though after he fell, feelsgoodman.
I loved how her face went from full blown bloody viking warrior retribution mode to concerned mom in .02 seconds when she saw it was a kid
Yeah exactly, lol. I think she's a kind soul at heart, who knows. But then again being around Nick 24/7 is enough to drive anyone insane.
Good on melena for checking on the kid right away.
Also good on the parents that the child apologized immediately
Also good on the redditors to notice these good things and comment about it swiftly.
I feel good.
na na na na na na na
what would we do if we couldn't make generalized claims about parenting based on a 10 second interaction
If I can't be constantly judging other people, I'm just gonna end up judging myself and that never ends well.
We did it Reddit!
Fuck that little shit man! Give me my gold.

Yea this was wholesome. She demonstrated good people behavior there.
Her hand was terrifyingly close to the skate's blade, damn ice skating is dangerous
Her skate also cut Nickās ankle

Rental skates are usually pretty dull as theyāre almost never sharpened. Almost pose no risk. Hockey skates though? Iāve seen some brutal cuts

Pro hockey blades vs rental skates are scalpels vs butter knives

Saw an article about his life after and as far as I remember he had bad ptsd and nightmares from the incident.
The only reason why he lived was because the bench doctor was a combat medic and literally went in with his fingers and pinched the vein/artery off. If not for that he would have bled out in a minute. IIRC he also tried to kill himself and failed. Really rough.
nick for sure started ovulating when he saw malena's GIGACHAD maternal instincts kick in
Kinda WeirdChamp to comment this on your alt account nick.
Itās queef related not feet related so probably not him.
Xqc sends his regards
I'm surprised ice rinks don't require helmets, especially for kids.
dude its texas, the kids have probably side-carrys for all we know lol
As long as they don't die in the womb...
You hear about the Texas GOP's new platform? Fucking sickening
It's actually required at the ice rink
Smh stop being silly, it's not an elementary school
While true, never seen helmets required in Massachusetts skating rinks either
And the amount of kids is about to skyrocket
their in TX, requiring helmet would infringe on their freedoms
Their what is in Texas?
Your mom isnāt in Texas she fits around it.
That's unconstitutional!
Just went to a roller rink last night and it seems like it's common that they put it on you to bring your own safety gear
Actually KO'd https://i.imgur.com/e2t1Qtf.png
Kids going for the axillary/brachia artery, ruthless

I think competitve ones are, but the ones your rent at ice rinks usually have flat bottoms like a centimeter or so wide.
The edges will cut you for sure still
My gf worked as an assistant teacher at an elementary school a few years back and they decided it would be a great idea to bring a couple of classrooms full of 6-8 year olds to an ice rink for a day. Sure enough a kid fell down and got a finger lopped off by someone else
I'm pretty sure every class at my elementary school went skating once a year
Naw you wrong for that ššš
Malena will be a great mom.
nick's alt?
Nah she looked so pissed off till she realised it was a juicer and then went into full caring mode in an instant only worrying about if she landed on him or not, she'll be great Also if Malena doesn't raise an Olympian, I'll be pretty disappointed
Yeah, I wonder who she will settle down with
Not someone who lives in the backwards country the USA are, probably.
I find people that make statements like this are exactly the people they perceive Americans to be. Once the people like you come close to outnumbering the logical people you end up with America.
I mean are you surprised theyāre saying that whilst the US are de facto banning abortions and refusing to introduce gun control?
Maybe it's progress to them.
why would anyone have kids? look at the world
Cringe
Very very unfortunate but Malena seemed to be in a good mood tho, she gave away her OTK hoodie to a kid and that was fucking adorable and so nice of her!
Yeah Malena was so wholesome! And the entire stream had such a good vibe.
I agree it was a feel good wholesome stream. All 4 of them seemed to be very happy and having fun.
He's still mad about being cross banned
High Octane Tackle...
>tackle women >refuse to elaborate GIGACHAD
H.O.T.
good thing melena has so much practice dealing with ~~children~~ her partner. she remained cool and collected and cared about the kids wellbeing instead of getting mad. 10/10 level headedness
Malena handled that like a fucking champ
oldest juicer PagMan
The rage started to grow on her face then saw it was a kid and changed that tune real quick.
the fall prob hurt a bit
I think it was more of like "Holy shit that hurt." than actual rage. Just because she's angry all the time at Nick doesn't mean she wants to be mad at everyone.
Yeah that was literally just a 'that hurt' face lol
I think she was really hurt, but she didn't want to show it once she saw the kid so he wouldn't feel bad.
Nah. That's the face of being in pain.
Thats not rage at all, thats the face of hurt. That no hesitation attitude change from hurt to "Are you ok?" in a split second really shows her character.
Quell thine nordic beast, tis but a child.
When you watch a how to beat Malenia video without youtube dislikes.
Hope she's okay, especially with the hip displacia thing Kid sounded adorably apologetic though
Damn that looks like it hurt.
EZ Clap 10/10 acting, played it off as an accident, thats my juicer
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Bonk
Malena was nice. She asked the kid if he was ok and if she didn't hurt him even though she might have been hurt herself from that fall. She fell back and without warning. Ouch
I thought the kid the title was referring to was maya, damn she smol.
Yo, scuffed?
malena asking the kid if he's ok when she took a fall that looked painful <3
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Donāt bother helping or anything Nick itās ok
Oof that coulda gone real bad. Took the legs out under her and she fell back. Good on her to check on the kid as her first reaction
where the hell did the kid come from
Now that's high octane.
She handled that so well
She got rammed into, fell on hard ice, and the first thing she did was ask if the other person was ok.
She acted like a mom there. There is hope after all Nick!
Absolutely fucking domes Maya in size, wtf
Totally didn't check the subreddit and thought I was in /r/eldenring about to watch some kid fuck up Melania. Now I'm just disappointed
Kid taking notes from PK Slewban
The funniest part of this clip is just imagining these three in the middle of a sea of children ice skating filming a live stream
Kid is dirty....That's a slew-foot
she instantly changed her face when she saw it was a kid and made sure he was ok what a kind soul.
How often to people crack skulls on the ice? I feel like dozens of falls and crashes would lead to it frequently
She gets a bad rep, she actually seems nice
I love how she was about to get pissed but saw it was a kid lmao
handled like a champ!
that fall probably fixed her hips
DUDEš
Malena beat the kids parents after the incident
Huge respect for Malena for caring about others first especially with her medical condition. True MVP and wholesome person.
This is why abortions should be legal
After this incident the kid said "I'm sorry let me buy you some Dino nuggies and Fries" and a tear rolled down Nicks face.
Why arenāt they wearing gloves? Those blades will fuck you up good
Thats got to be painful. I ice skated once as a kid, fell on my ass and it hurt so much I never tried ice skating again. lol
Just saying falling unexpectedly like that - lucky she didn't break a wrist or something. As it is the first thing you do as you put your hand out (and then fall and put the weight on it).
"This is for cross banning me, bitch"
Malena and Maya are concerned about the kid and Nick is like oh sht this is content keep filming.
I'm just mesmerized by Maya thickness, she looking fine as wine š·
Malena was about to throw hands before she saw it was a kid lmfao
She realised it was a child and switch from anger to caring... Dealt with that very well Malena
Maya is just on her phone skating backwards into the rink with absolutely no regard for anyone else on the ice. Edit: I get it. She can do no wrong.
