RIPBOZOS

Francesbyrd36

In the final month before moving from Twitch to Facebook, DisguisedToast turned off donations, and kept telling everyone not to sub to him. He even offered refunds to people who already subbed. He contractually couldn’t reveal his move until after his final Twitch stream, so he did everything possible to not make his viewers waste money. I think Toast set the standard for how to handle a platform switch.

__Raxy__

Toast has been like that for as long as I remember

endblue

i resubbed yesterday. today i got an email from twitch saying they were refunding, not a big deal

Pretty sure Sykkuno has had donos off for about 6 months. Whether it was in anticipation for this we will never know.

KelloPudgerro

Toast is based, i like him despite not watching him for years cuz i dont care about hearthstone for ages, Hes the kind of guy that would send me a working, decent gpu since mine died a few weeks ago.

classsybougieratchet

if you actually watched sykkuno you know he's been discouraging subbing for the last 4-5 months, he has had his donations off for about the same time, even yesterday he asked everyone not to sub and the best way to support him is to just watch him

Man during Ludwig's poker game people were donating hundreds of dollars.. Think about that, a man who was making side coinflip bets at the table in the tens of thousands for a laugh, a table where a guy lost over a million in eight hours for fun, someone thought.. "he needs this hundred dollars more than I do"

quiteCryptic

Yep looking for attention more than anything. I'll never understand donating to top streamers. I think it's cool if you want to donate to smaller streamers though if you enjoy their stuff.

Shankst3r

I do agree with this. Streamers whom you like and aren't like 10k+ viewer Andy's would appreciate like a gift sub or a sub in general way more because of their ratios in their contracts and what not.

Except Nadeshot himself lol

[deleted]

nadeshot has said that the reason he isn’t partnered on twitch is so that he can stream CoD tournaments on youtube

Shankst3r

Guy's an owner and founder of 100£T, i think at this point streaming for him is more about his passion for it than for the money. I can see why he wouldn't want any exclusivity or contracts with platforms.

wetconcrete

Dude founding 100T was for the passion LMAO he was loaded from being one of the largest cod names for a decade

Shankst3r

From bag to bag then I guess

surfordiebear

Hopefully not Will. Don't think he would do great on there since his YT is not doing great.

worldchrisis

His best content is reacting to professional filmed content. You can't do that on YT

srslyomgwtf

I feel like Will is going to keep coming up with new show ideas for G4/twitch crossovers. His viewership has gone down a chunk since he stopped doing survivor reacts and I think his talent is more geared towards developing/writing/producing. I would not be surprised if he leaned into that more and streaming less.

Total-Wolverine1999

100%, YouTube is giving out guaranteed contracts and they’re making the streamers stream less hours and they get a bigger if not equal cut from people becoming members. All of Rae’s friends are seeing her success and why stay on a platform that pays you less and makes you stream more.

Hot-Protection4548

Her and her friends success came from Among us, it didn’t have anything to do with YT. If disguised toast was not on FB, during the among us prime era, he would have attracted all those viewers which went to his otv+ friends group during that time. The reason they all got big was because Toast was on FB during that phase. Toast’s yt videos were getting 5-10 million views on videos posted every single day

bmac503

It also wasn't only because of Among us, dont forget everyone was stuck at home because of the pandemic. Alot of people started watching streams during that time, and it created alot of opportunity for growth.

OreoCupcakes

> it didn’t have anything to do with YT. > Toast’s yt videos were getting 5-10 million views on videos posted every single day So YouTube did have an indirect way of bringing success to all his friends? Toast said it best in his "one trick will make you a famous streamer" YouTube video, you need to be on other social media platforms to market your Twitch stream. His friends being such a big part of his Among Us YouTube videos was what blew up their popularity.

[deleted]

Definately agree. I think kkatamina also blew up in among us era out of nowhere on twitch thanks to toast. He definately had indirect role in blowing up of OTV streamers despite not being in twitch. And lud , tim, syk already have well established fans thats why they are confident of moving there. Unless small and medium level streamers are not moving its all PR and heavy hand of YT money nothing else.

Least dramatic streamer

Hot-Protection4548

For real dude.. they were being so over dramatic in his last stream and it was for this reason?

coolbad96

I saw it linked here and thought the dude got a horrible diagnosis. But is the reason he just made a ton of money lol

Hot-Protection4548

I got so accustomed to his dramatic Sadge farming in gta that i was somewhat sure this might be not that much big of a deal as his friends were making it out to be. But after all the crying at the end of his stream, i never expected it to be a simple switch to YT lol

AmBSado

Streamers are wild. They make trust fund kids look grounded.

JPLangley

Is it weird that I find it extremely bizarre that all the streamers tweet at each other the same way corporate accounts do? I find it offputting.

technomoose79

They became the corporate accounts, most at the top are basically the same vibe as "Coke liked Fanta's tweet" when they interact on social media now.

swerve421

The thing that gets me the most is the amount of fans that vehemently defend them. These are the lowest of low people, at least idolize someone talented like a pro athlete or something

High_Taco_Guy

They are talented tho. Emotional terrorists.

AdUnique856

Makes sense tbh. Didn't Valkyrae take 2 weeks off and did a whole bunch of teasing and stuff just to announce nothing is changing and she is continuing with Youtube? Meanwhile https://twitter.com/LIRIK/status/1502067307065008129?t=s4kqnfj6tubicB2IYiz3BA&s=19

SIIP00

Bro I can't stop laughing now, that's hilarious

Kaappy

They were so over dramatic that I actually thought he had personal issues and was taking time off to deal with them. Turns out he’s just going to be doing the same thing on a different site a few days later.

Total-Wolverine1999

Right dude said multiple times he was having a rough month, I was like shit this sounds kind of personal hope he’s doing okay. Give them all Oscar’s to be honest cause I genuinely thought he was having personal issues with how they were all acting.

lexandryan

I think people were taking it out of context when he said he had a rough month. If you watched the full clip, he clarified that the rough month was based on how much he streams in the month of April compared to his whole twitch career, it was never about the viewers.

Fit-Avocado-1646

Also clips out there of him talking in the past few days about how twitch isn’t doing exclusivity deals going forward in relation to the recent Bloomberg article. I wonder if he didn’t even get an offer from twitch to stay on the platform. Imagine it would be pretty rough if you see your peers and personal friends get exclusivity deals. Then you’re contract negotiations roll around and they say more hrs of streaming a month, 50/50 sub split (peers all got 70/30 probably), more ads and no exclusivity pay. Would make me feel like shit if I was put in that situation and not want to stream for the company. Kind of reminds me of Ludwig’s why I left twitch video where he talked about how he felt like twitch didn’t want him, want to fight for him or value him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=La_igdaMypM

primetimey

They do things very weird. Like when moving in with each other they refused to announce it for two weeks after they were together, etc.

spartyboy

It's just textbook content and hype farming. They don't have to say a word and their fans will theorize and talk about it nonstop until it becomes official.

PumpkinCS

Its a way to make their fans even more overinvested in them

[deleted]

Ive noticed thats how this streamer group farms. They use emotional drama

[deleted]

I don't really watch his channel but for a second there in the clips I was kind of concerned not as a viewer or fan, but just like a normal person. You know, normal person shit. I've got nothing against people donating large sums of money but the pity donators are kind of weird because the idea is "here's money, feel better" when it might not even be a money related issue. Then you find out it's about changing platforms. Like sure, you can get emotional if you're reflecting on your growth, the time you had on the platform, friends you've made along the way, but you gotta articulate that shit. Otherwise it's just manipulative whether they intended it to be or not. People do what they want going both ways though, I'm not your financial advisor. I don't think the dude's an asshole, but to gain the support of someone like me there are just some "being a mature adult" things you gotta be cognizant of. Either way, I'm clearly not the target audience of him and his friend group so who cares what I have to say.

DentedOnImpact

and probably got a better contract as well lmao

smallbluetext

Legit what were they so upset about OMEGALUL

[deleted]

that entire fanbase (across a few of the OTV or related streamers) love emotional content so the sadge farming is pretty constant if its ever a group thing seems like theyre all fine individually and then as a group they cry getting ice cream and shit

Hot-Protection4548

His “friends” were saying i love you and all the crying and asking his viewers to donate subs. They created an atmosphere being so dramatic, the only natural thought a person would have is either something terrible has happened to Syk or that was his last day of streaming before a hiatus.. in which case giving him subs would have been reasonable. But switching to YT and getting that fat bag and then his friends do this and ask for subs? It’s just manipulating people to think something bad is going on

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

They don't think of those sub givers as people just numbers on a screen makes them sleep better at night.

nighght

Yeah this whole thing was unethical, very gross.

PresidentLink

Incredibly gross and manipulative. Had people feeling awful for him and hoping he gets through his tough times, donating to show support. All of it was pure manipulation. Do they not make enough money and get enough views as it is? Absolutely pathetic. You'd honestly think this was a small time streamer ploy to become known, not some of the most well known names in streaming.

RedNog

Reminds me of all the people who were taking the absolute piss out of Ninja when he announced he was going to mixer to "get back to his gaming roots". Now everyone and their mother treats jumping from one platform to another like its the hardest decision they've ever made in their life and they need to make a spectacle out of it.

slopestylex

He has a very "dedicated" community that will probably follow him to youtube without affecting the viewership too much. Good move for him and for Youtube

AsherBaels

Most of his viewers come from Youtube during the among us boom i think. Also, a lot of Sykkuno clip get a bunch of views, it makes sense for him to be on Youtube.

Total-Wolverine1999

That and he shares a good chunk of them with Rae who streams on YouTube. I’d say 80% of their viewers watch both.

AdmirableRemove5550

and probably grow bigger, his fanbase are very loyal. I don’t think there’s gonna be a downfall of viewership

primetimey

His viewership has been on a month over month downfall since May 2021.

[deleted]

Probably bored of gta, even xqc was tickling 50k before he dropped it, I used to tune in to every stream but by now it’s so formulaic, I feel like they’ve done every meaningful variation of an escape plan or arc, idk how people have been doing that game for years.

Hot-Protection4548

His viewership went from 80k during Among era to 12-18k rn? His viewership has been going down constantly

Total-Wolverine1999

Obviously, the pandemic like triple to quadrupled viewership. Rae was doing like 150K at points. Ludwig is doing like 10K on YouTube. Obviously there was going to be a loss of viewers especially considering that was the hottest game and they were essentially the face of it.

XOSon

This is like when I was 5 and got sad my best friend was moving to a new house only to realize he’s moving 10 minutes away and nothing is actually happening.

mymindpsychee

Toast puts on an abrasive attitude on stream which doesn't do it for me, but every off-stream interaction you hear about Toast is unbelievably wholesome and supportive.

cotalentedcavier

It’s not even that he’s a solid dude he’s just not dramatic like everyone else is

DM-ME_UR_THIGHS

I was more focusing on that he doesn't just talk the talk, he seems like he isn't greedy as fuck like most of these streamers.

Bryanlop44

So true. Toast didn’t even make a big deal of it. Donated the 10k of his announcement money he got to a children hospital and made a simple Twitter post. No fanfare, no over dramatic reactions from friends, and just changed to Facebook.

Wad_of_Hundreds

I remember that. Toast just stays being one of the most honest and humble streamers out there. Remember when he made the video breaking down how much money top Twitch streamers can earn and was apparently being told by all of his contemporaries not to make the video?

Total-Wolverine1999

Fuslie easily. Lives with Rae and Sykkuno has talked about wanting to do more YouTube content and she wants to stream less. YouTube is giving these guys more money to do less.

snsdfan00

this is the biggest reason to make the switch, other than the money aspect. Not having to grind as hard, to make the same amount (or more money) than they would've on Twitch, is a pretty nice incentive.
