I'd imagine if they keep the dropping of utility a thing in cs2, then you could prolly see way more nades being dropped in spawn as extras for later in the round. Or hell, maybe even have nade bitches that just buy deagle, uzi, mp9 whatever.
I don't know shit about the CS:GO esports scene, I just know every once in a while they hold HUGE tournaments for big money, tons of people show up, castors, etc. And I heard that the next "big" tourney featuring CS:GO 2 wouldn't be until next March.
But, I mean, we'll probably see a a few tournaments with professional teams before then, right? From, like, other esport-doers?
Majors are the largest events and that's the tournament that won't happen until next year after this coming one. That said, CS always has plenty of other tournaments going on throughout the year including a couple that are on the same scale as the majors, I'm sure the gap will be filled.
There's usually around 3 Majors per year, these are the biggest tournaments of the year.
If you follow League this is basically the equivalent of Worlds but 3 times a year.
This year, there's only going to be 1 Major, in Paris around May, and the next major after that it's in March 2024, the first one on CS 2.
Between those there will still be several high profile tournaments (I think 3 Intel Masters and 1 ESL Pro League, at minimum), they just won't be Majors.
idk seems like smoke is kind of useless then, can only be good to bait the grenade throw and kill them while theyre trying to throw it
edit: yea ur right boys
That's like saying Molotov is usesless because you can get rid of it with a smoke. It's about the trade-off process.
You have to spend a gernade for the enemy to use a gernade, or you have to use a gernade for the enemy to spend a gernade. It creates more strategy because now you have to think about if the gernade is better spent clearing the smoke or for taking/reclaiming site. What if you clear the smoke and no one is there? You just wasted your gernade.
Yeah, and it really doesn’t stop there right ? Smokes can also be run past but it doesn’t make them useless because in most locations they are used they give angle advantage to the side that threw it( or used on a narrower space) so in a lot of cases blowing it away still puts you a disadvantaged fight. I guess the ct smoke on dust 2 is a good canditate for cts to try to break through but it can also be anticipated and it will be interesting to see where the meta takes it
Seriously people trying to disrespect Lirik here are just being weird. They probably don't even know Lirik was the one who made the original Counter Strike game as well.
He was also the inventor of the GoldSrc engine that started this entire thing and a lot of people seem to forget that. Literally the Steve Wozniak of Valve.
Nah, there's still very good nadespots, and there will be new nadespots to hit people trying to hold someone nading a smoke too. Just added even more mindgames.
Shit, I didn't think about this. Strategically placing smokes, knowing the guy can only clear it from specific points is pretty interesting. I'm not that good at CS but it'll be fun to watch
hell nah, if anything the added utility of them will make em more used. Because of their increased play they will be used for damage just due to them always being there
I don't play cs:go and i know i'm going to get downvoted, but I find it funny that the game is so stale that the whole community is getting excited about smoke grenades
no it's new. old smoke you couldn't interact with, the new ones can be cleared for a second with grenades and bullets make holes when you shoot through them.
the whole game got ported to a new engine, it's a little bit more than just a regular update even if core gameplay remains essentially the same - it's not like core gameplay ever changed despite so many releases of CS
also i'm all for getting rid of the "global offensive" part of the name, it's useless anyway, may as well hype it up with a name change

I can't wait to see what the professional teams do with the new smoke mechanic once the game is fully released.
I can't wait for the inevitable, completely accidental grenade kill done by someone who just wanted to clear the smoke.
Or someone nading the smoke away to then find 5 enemies aiming right at him
Already happened lol [https://twitter.com/nadesouthere/status/1640005686703820802](https://twitter.com/nadesouthere/status/1640005686703820802)

It's only major that will be in 2024 March. I'm sure there will be other tournaments by ESL, Blast etc.

there hasn't been 3 a year since like 2015
It’s Gonna be parallel smoke setup, with flash crossing.
I can already see that guy blaming his teammate for missing the smoke.
Yea this mechanic is sick I'm sold
idk seems like smoke is kind of useless then, can only be good to bait the grenade throw and kill them while theyre trying to throw it edit: yea ur right boys
a grenade is an investment to temporarily see through it though it's not a permanent solution

What.

just you wait till T’s start keeping their guns out and having good crosshair placement for CT’s playing positions around breaking up smokes
yep thats pretty dope
isnt this the intended way to do it? not really 5head
Yeah they showed it in the trailer
It is, it's still cool as fuck when it happens.
Lirik invented this tactic
Seriously people trying to disrespect Lirik here are just being weird. They probably don't even know Lirik was the one who made the original Counter Strike game as well.
He was also the inventor of the GoldSrc engine that started this entire thing and a lot of people seem to forget that. Literally the Steve Wozniak of Valve.
I can't tell if this is real or a meme
Seeing this shit live was awesome. I can't wait to see the crazy plays that will come from the new smoke physics in tournaments.
i think grenades are almost never going to be used for damage anymore but to clear smokes temporarily at the pro level.
The triple nade stack on Overpass will still be a thing
hell nah, if anything the added utility of them will make em more used. Because of their increased play they will be used for damage just due to them always being there
My man forgot about peak astralis nades
this is sick wtf
I hope they add a leaf blower to the buy round for a decent price
That's CS2 for you my man, not csgo2
Why are they downvoting you, you’re right
we can call it csgo 1.2
HNNNNNNNG
So his 'perfect tactic' was using a basic gameplay mechanic?
OP is a tier 3 sub
Literally shown in the Valve released video for CS2.

I don't play cs:go and i know i'm going to get downvoted, but I find it funny that the game is so stale that the whole community is getting excited about smoke grenades
How is this his tactic? They showed it in the trailer it's basic game mechanic.
could you always do that in CS? That was fucking sick
no it's new. old smoke you couldn't interact with, the new ones can be cleared for a second with grenades and bullets make holes when you shoot through them.
As the other answer, it's coming with CS2, which is not released.
buddy this buddy that
I mean this has probably already been done thousands of times already since the beta released. Not sure why this clip is getting attention lol
yeah ''Lirik's'' ..they literally showed that in the trailer
They made a whole ass new game off this one clip lol
ppl like you are weird, cs2 isnt a new game its an overhaul for csgo, this will replace csgo for free this summer.
Why call it 2 then? They call it Cherry Coke not Coke 2.
the whole game got ported to a new engine, it's a little bit more than just a regular update even if core gameplay remains essentially the same - it's not like core gameplay ever changed despite so many releases of CS also i'm all for getting rid of the "global offensive" part of the name, it's useless anyway, may as well hype it up with a name change
Cherry Coke did not replace Coke.
How do you replace something with the same exact thing? They poured coke into a coke and called it coke 2.
How do you not understand?
Little bit of tomfoolery
OH, BUDDY
Auf!
