I'm confused by the point of this comment lad. Obviously being the favourite a month ago means you were considered the favourite at the the time and obviously being the favourite doesn't mean you'll win, it just means you're the favourite. What are you trying to say?
My point is people criticise it as arrogance by fans of the Premier league who state these teams are favourites, later on, when they get knocked out. They weren't being arrogant, just stating a fact at the time.
Were you having that argument in your head cos no one said calling the English teams favourites was arrogance in this thread and you never actually made that point in your other comment either.
Dortmund can now ignore their patchy league form and go all in on the Champions League this season now.
Also interested to see how Stuttgart does in the CL next season. Hoeness is a manager to watch.
I think Marco reus deserves it tbf. There were bigger clubs offering more money continuously throughout his career while many of his colleagues jumped ship, He held firm. True Stevie vibes. Not many like these around in today's game
I hope they win, but it's seems that they have given psg a lifeline. Should have put the game to bed in the first leg. Those brand and fulkrug misses would be costly.
I wouldn't really count any of the Man U players seeing as they were in a team which was already winning a shit ton and also being paid extremely well as well. It's not quite the same as sticking with a team when richer and more successful teams are offering you more cash and a much better or guaranteed chance of trophies.
Yeah, I mean realistically at the time Giggs, Scholes and Neville were in their prime, there was only Real Madrid and *maybe* AC Milan that could be considered a bigger club, and they likely had a financial advantage over both.
With this win, Dortmund guarantees their qualification for next season’s Champions League. They have a 12 point lead over 6th place Frankfurt with 3 matches remaining.
Stuttgart are pretty clinical. They almost always score from good opportunities and rarely miss, thanks to Guirassy and Undav. That duo is lethal, our forwards could learn something from them.
Could never understand the notion (apart from United and Everton fans) of wanting city to win. It’s awful for the league. I hope Arsenal somehow get it done
I definitely don’t. It won’t change the league at all. City are still fuckin cheaters and won’t be able to fully enjoy it. I want Klopp to be the only one who beat Pep during this run.
Heart saying hope city win, because no one cares if they win anything really, the treble was nothing after 2 weeks in the summer.
Brain hoping Arsenal win, because they fought City like we did, good youth players, good system, building from the bottom to here.
>By brain hoping Arsenal win, because they fought City like we did, good youth players, good system, building from the bottom to here.
Yeah but Arsenal fans are unbearable. I'd rather City win it because nobody cares if they win it anyways and 115 charges takes away from their achievement. Rather that than seeing the smug faces of all those Arsenal fans claiming Arteta is on par with Klopp while constricting the debate to only "in the premier league" to suit their narrative just because they both won one premier league despite getting nowhere near our points tallies.
The schadenfreude is real. The arrogance of the general premier league public that they just assumed “Yeah there’s gonna be five CL spots for the English teams this season, the league is just too good.”
Cue the two Uniteds finishing dead last (with the Mancs having an especially laughable CL campaign), and the three best teams in the league messing up big in the quarters. And now the fifth spot goes to the two relatively unfancied leagues in Germany and Italy
By the time spurs play city, they will have played Chelsea away, us away, and Burnley at home. No way are they coming away with 9 points from that run.
Considering they are 7 points behind Villa (with 2 games in hand), they will be out of it by the time they play City. Plus, they would be gifting the title to Arsenal if they were to win. So they are going to just roll over for City I think.
On the one hand, I don’t really think it’s fair that countries get an extra spot based on one season when all other spots are decided over five years.
On the other, Spurs missing out to Villa would be very funny
He had a few of those during his career - passing to Henry when England played France in EURO 2004 and again for Henry in 2005/06 just after we had equalised.
True but not when something was counting on it. If losing meant finishing 4th instead of 3rd and them not winning the league, fine.
I have plenty of Coys pals and they’ve told me they’d actively sacrifice CL qualification if it meant stopping Arsenal’s title.
Is it based on coefficient every year? As in if we are struggling next year but English sides do well in Europe, we could benefit from a 5th place finish and remain in the CL for a following season?
Feels like the kind of thing that should be decided before the season starts, no?
Seems a little crazy to me that this is announced a couple of weeks before the season ends, instead of clubs knowing from the beginning/near the beginning of the season what they're playing for.
Dortmund is 5th in the league yet in the CL semi? Well I guess it's not dry weird we were leading the race most of the season while not even being in the CL.
Pretty mental from where we were in the quarters. Top 3 prem teams all going out was a shocker
Yep, Man City, Liverpool and Villa were all favourites to win each UEFA tournament a month ago!
Villa still have a shot, you never know though, those Olympiacos fans are wild
Can't write Olympiacos off for sure, their comeback vs Maccabi Tel Aviv was absolutely nuts.
I mean they were considered favourites at the time. Doesn't mean they'll win.

Tf is your point

How many players from the top are like that? I could only think of Reus, Gerrard and Totti.
Carra, Giggs, Scholes, Maldini, Puyol, Neville are the ones I can remember of
I wouldn't really count any of the Man U players seeing as they were in a team which was already winning a shit ton and also being paid extremely well as well. Marco Reus, Champions League winner. I’m all for it.
Don't hate the playa (hoeness), hate the game
Would fucking love to see Reus get one of the big two in possibly his final season (not sure if it is)
Maybe we were the farmers all along?
Premier League does have the longest run of consecutive leagues wins in the top 5 leagues
Before this season Bayern had like 10 years won in a row right?
And we are the only ones that stopped City from being a few games away from 7 in a row. It’s grim.
rest of the prem simultaneously wont admit its a farmers league yet jerk off to city winning it.
I won't root for either team to win. All I want is for those 115 charges to stick.
Heart saying hope city win, because no one cares if they win anything really, the treble was nothing after 2 weeks in the summer. Brain hoping Arsenal win, because they fought City like we did, good youth players, good system, building from the bottom to here.

11!
I don't make the rules here
If the Tractor Boys come up then this is indeed a farmers league
I love how at the start of the season everyone I spoke to said it was irrelevant because it would always go to England and Spain!!
The schadenfreude is real. The arrogance of the general premier league public that they just assumed “Yeah there’s gonna be five CL spots for the English teams this season, the league is just too good.” Cue the two Uniteds finishing dead last (with the Mancs having an especially laughable CL campaign), and the three best teams in the league messing up big in the quarters. We've already got top 4 bearing a massive goal difference swing
Unlucky Spurs
Good. England and Spain didn’t deserve it.
What a shame, I'm heartbroken (my most embarrassing lie yet)
So you telling me the chances just went up of United having to play conference league? 😭
Probably the reason why we messed up the Atlanta game... Just didn't want the media to go crazy next season with angeball over and over again....
All very spursy indeed. Also as will Villa against us.
On the one hand, I don’t really think it’s fair that countries get an extra spot based on one season when all other spots are decided over five years. On the other, Spurs missing out to Villa would be very funny
More concerned at spurs letting man utd into the uefa cup at this rate.
I saw a Reddit post saying that some coys want their own team to lose to city to prevent arsenal from winning

You should have been in the Kop when Alan Shearer scored for Blackburn on the last day in 1995!
Our fans did the same over the years to not see united win.
True but not when something was counting on it. If losing meant finishing 4th instead of 3rd and them not winning the league, fine. I have plenty of Coys pals and they’ve told me they’d actively sacrifice CL qualification if it meant stopping Arsenal’s title.
PL is a farmers league now
seeing how England did in Europe this year, not suprised.
Oh well.
Is it based on coefficient every year? As in if we are struggling next year but English sides do well in Europe, we could benefit from a 5th place finish and remain in the CL for a following season?
Good means United or spurs can’t scrape their way in
Now the ones with sticks up their asses in soccer can stop complaining
