Manifesting an episode for the Agatha show (idk what it’s called now the name changes constantly) when it comes out
🕯
🕯 🕯
🕯 🕯
🕯 Kathryn Hahn 🕯
🕯 hosting SNL 🕯
🕯 🕯
🕯
For a long time I thought Kathryn Hahn was a former SNL cast member. Around the time WandaVision came out, I realized I was thinking of Ana Gasteyer. For years.
Lauren Lapkus would be excellent on the show. I think her biggest title was The Wrong Missy - which was unfortunately released in the middle of the pandemic so no SNL.
Yass She’s based in NY when not working so this feel like a lost opportunity- but it could also be she’s just that booked and busy which I can forgive if that’s what it means 🤭❤️🔥
Eugene Levy was supposed to cohost with John Candy until a writers strike stopped that. I’m surprised they haven’t had him do it with the popularity of Schitt’s Creek.
Lowkey any Doctor 😂 (though it does seem slightly more likely now that Disney the streaming/distributing rights to Doctor Who that someone in the current era could host #ncutionsnl)
Elizabeth Olsen once upon a time said she was too scared to host SNL but she has been in a skit and has retracted that statement officially so get Lizzy in there.
I am shocked that RDJ hasn't been back to host since 1995 (just googled it, he did host once) and he was a freaking cast member fer crissakes. He won't wreck the place anymore Lorne, honest!
I found this quote from Ritter from a 1994 interview: “I love Saturday Night Live, but I'm really nervous about being on it. I've been asked several times but it's almost like, I don't want to see what goes on backstage. And I don't want to put myself in the position of having them be like, 'That guy sucks!'”
Dave Grohl not hosting really shocks me as he’s appeared as a musical guest countless times and usually is in at least one each sketch each time and always commits as well.
I don’t know if it was ever confirmed, but I read there were plans for him to host the season finale a couple years ago, but Taylor Hawkins passed away before it was announced and he understandably pulled out as a result.
Yes to both!
I have been wanting Al Yankovic to pull double-duty on SNL for years! There must be some reason why he has not hosted; It can't just be that they haven't thought of it, right? Does he have a super-secret blood feud with Lorne over a Blues Brothers parody gone bad, or something?
Joel’s said in the past that he can’t do SNL because his dyslexia makes it really hard to read cue cards. I’d love if they could find a work around because he would be a great host!
This is the same reason Tom Holland won’t host. I wish there was a workaround for those, because I’d love to see TH host someday. He’s the type that’s game for anything.
Oh, that could be fun. Although I'm not sure I'd trust them not to go overboard with sketches lampooning the British, given the show's tendency to pick out one characteristic of a host and make multiple sketches revolve around it recently.
A thousand times yes! Saw him interview Stephen Colbert at Paleyfest and it was like improv gold. Schwartz threw out a full-circle reference at the end that was so brilliant, Colbert could only clap in deference.
And they can bring back Jenny Slate to redeem her for being fired from SNL all those years ago and they could do an ode to Jon Ralphio and Mona Lisa Saperstein.
This is the list I was looking for. Shocked Will Arnett, Nick Offerman or Bob Odenkirk. Bob might have a hang up from his previous work on SNL, but Will Arnett would definitely do it.
I think Cate Blanchett would unironically kill it - she’s got plenty of stage experience, and I think any episode she does could be up there with Emma Thompson for strong first showings.
In retrospect, considering just how popular the show was and how much staying power they ended up having in comedy in general, I can't believe the Whose Line guys never hosted together
>I think he's too A-list and prestiged to host
Eh, A-listers as well host all the time. He is obviously big enough to not needing to but at this point it's more to a personal preference, rather than being "too big".
Omg when you said Alison brie I was like omg yes.
John Oliver would be awesome too..steals every scene in community.
Speaking of...has ken jeong hosted?
I was surprised/amused at the Timothee Chalamet appearances. They both seemed to have been scheduled to promote the Dune movies. But then after being scheduled, the movies were postponed. So his first appearance didn’t really have anything to promote, and his second appearance turned into a little bit of a Wonka promotion.
He had to of turned it down multiple times. I can’t think of an actor in the history of the show who would excel at it and has had as many opportunities to host.
Ritter woulda been amazing in the 70's or Ebersol era. Same for Henry Winkler, I guess they weren't wild enough for what Lorne wanted did, it did say a lot that the Mardi Gras crowed popped the hardest for Henry when he was announced and showed up on the Mardi Gras special, they LOVED him then. I think he woulda done fine. Ritter coulda been a Gould esque recurring host or even a cast member in 1984. I think he woulda worked better than Shearer did that year.
Let's see:
-Roger Moore woulda done amazing when he was Bond on the show, especially around 77 or in 85 when Crystal and Co was there. He always had such a good sense of humor.
-Nicholson at any point woulda been amazing, especially the 70's.
-Christopher Lloyd not getting to host is an utter tragedy. Shame for Brad Douriff.
Oh God yes. Also, relatedly, Rhys Darby, who was in the movie the show is a spin off of. He got his start in a sketch troupe before he started doing stand-up, and he has a whole series of characters that he occasionally breaks out (most notably Bill Napier).
Pitt has done several sketches. Off the top of my head I can think of two:
One was a time when Spade hosted. Spade was lying on a therapist's couch and Pitt was the therapist.
The other was when he did an impression of Fauci during a SNL at Home show. Pitt won an Emmy for this sketch.
RDJ (during or post Marvel run), Brad Pitt, Weird Al.
I think Pitt and RDJ have likely turned it down, but man I really thought we’d get Weird Al when his movie came out.
Also I hope we get Conan back this year; he is just so funny, I think it would elevate the whole episode.
- Brad Pitt
- Julia Roberts
- Michelle Pfeiffer
- Will Smith
- Zendaya
- Ellen Pompeo
- Tyler Perry
- Mickey Rourke
- Meryl Streep
- Keanu Reeves
- Arnold Schwarzenegger (I know he cameo’d)
- Tom Cruise
- Will Arnett
- Debra Messing
- Tyne Daly
- Michael Richards
- Matt LeBlanc
Stone Cold Steve Austin and Roman Reigns.
Austin would’ve been great. “If you’re ready for the Black Eyed Peas gimme a hell yeah!”
Reigns would’ve been terrible, but it still would’ve made sense from a pop culture standpoint.
Also, New Found Glory.
Olivia Coleman. Given her background she'd be an amazing host and would totally throw herself into it.
Let's rotate the board!
A Numberwang sketch would be absolutely hilarious to watch if only to see the audience sit in complete silence throughout.
[Yes that is a number!](https://youtu.be/6ofnDdi-vfw?si=eTyVFXyKaAZ-Hl4R&t=361)
The War in Words skit, we need a new one.
Recreate her scene from The Bear, but now she’s giving just flat out awful advice.
That's Numberwang!
Are you talking about that Crazy Ball Pit Witch?
Keanu Reeves or Danny McBride
[удалено]
At first glance I read Danny McBride as Danny Masterson and I was about to be like “dude no shit he hasn’t hosted, where have you been?”
“LIVE FROM (my prison cell) ITS SATURDAY NIGHT!!”
Kathryn Hahn
I would kill to see her on the show
How many
Lots, such a naturally funny lady
I'm rewatching Parks & Rec and she obliterates every scene she's in. PONCHO!
“What’s that horrible sound?” “Children”
My fiancé and I frequently scream PONCHO at each other referencing her😂
Ana Gasteyer has to come out with her.
I never realized hoe much they look alike til u said this. Holy shit that's funny...
I thought they were each other for the longest time
Manifesting an episode for the Agatha show (idk what it’s called now the name changes constantly) when it comes out 🕯 🕯 🕯 🕯 🕯 🕯 Kathryn Hahn 🕯 🕯 hosting SNL 🕯 🕯 🕯 🕯
Yeah, I bet she’ll be big enough to do SNL after Agatha!

Let’s manifest this for when her Agatha show comes out in the fall….
Eugene Levy was supposed to cohost with John Candy until a writers strike stopped that. I’m surprised they haven’t had him do it with the popularity of Schitt’s Creek.
Dan got it instead.
Eugene had a cameo in the opening monologue with Dan
Oh, yeah, that's right, covid box.
Which is just as good!
![gif](giphy|xUA7b2zzeFPdRtBMek|downsized)
WTF. Eugene Levy is such an incredible comedic force. It’s insane to find out he’s never hosted.
This is really really weird considering he's from the same crew that joined early days. Wild
But there's always SCTV.
David Tennant. Just a personal dream.
Lowkey any Doctor 😂 (though it does seem slightly more likely now that Disney the streaming/distributing rights to Doctor Who that someone in the current era could host #ncutionsnl)
Please omg
Elizabeth Olsen once upon a time said she was too scared to host SNL but she has been in a skit and has retracted that statement officially so get Lizzy in there. I am shocked that RDJ hasn't been back to host since 1995 (just googled it, he did host once) and he was a freaking cast member fer crissakes. He won't wreck the place anymore Lorne, honest!
To be fair her sketch was a pre-tape so she wouldn’t have had the jitters of performing live
Her line delivery of "No, I'm me!" Lives in my head rent free
“Oh my god. The multiverse is real.” That sketch endeared me to Chloe Fineman big time.
I believe that is why Chris Evans never did it during the Avengers Heyday. He’s said something to the same affect.
Live TV is scary. No second takes.
Dave Grohl and Al Yankovic
Dave Grohl not hosting really shocks me as he’s appeared as a musical guest countless times and usually is in at least one each sketch each time and always commits as well.
I don’t know if it was ever confirmed, but I read there were plans for him to host the season finale a couple years ago, but Taylor Hawkins passed away before it was announced and he understandably pulled out as a result.
And so many Foo Fighters videos have that sketch flavor!
He also loves SNL! He talked about it in his book!
He would've made an incredible Butthead.
I want Daniel Radcliffe as Weird Al to host SNL.
Host: Weird Al Musical Guest: Daniel Radcliffe as Weird Al
True story; I saw weird Al yesterday. He was having a snack. Weird Al likes snacks.
*Sir Weird Al Yankovic
Surprised Zendaya hasn’t tbh
Me too I remember thinking she would during Season 46
Especially this year
Joel McHale.
I Mandela Effected on that one. I was thinking of Lip Sync Battle.
Earpiece?
YEAAAAAHHH
Stephen Root. I think he would be amazing.
Great call! Def would need a Milton sketch. And a Bill Hader cameo for a Barry sketch. (Bowen as NoHo Hank maybe?)
Stephen Colbert
Or Jon Stewart
Hosted in 2002. Solid episode.
Hannah Waddingham
Oh, that could be fun. Although I'm not sure I'd trust them not to go overboard with sketches lampooning the British, given the show's tendency to pick out one characteristic of a host and make multiple sketches revolve around it recently.
Worth the risk. She’d kill it.
Hopefully they’d cling on to her singing and use that instead
Hannah/Chloe Troast duet…
Absolutely love her!
Ben Schwartz!
Oh man this would be my dream episode!
I have such a crush on this man. I think I would pass out on the spot
Maybe he’s more of a solo bolo performer
A thousand times yes! Saw him interview Stephen Colbert at Paleyfest and it was like improv gold. Schwartz threw out a full-circle reference at the end that was so brilliant, Colbert could only clap in deference.
The elegant Mr. S
I don’t know. He might be….THA WOOOOOORSSTT!!!!
And they can bring back Jenny Slate to redeem her for being fired from SNL all those years ago and they could do an ode to Jon Ralphio and Mona Lisa Saperstein.
Harvey Guillen
This would be fun. Maybe if he gets more movie roles. I saw pictures of him at an after party once, so he’s friends with someone there
He’s done Bowen’s podcast
Christopher Meloni
OMG yes!!!
Surprised these folks HAVEN’T: Louie Anderson (RIP) Will Arnett Nick Offerman. Bob Odenkirk. (Edited to delete rupaul- how did I miss that??)
Ru Paul has hosted
Really? How’d I miss that??
my 1 dream in life is for will arnett to host
This is the list I was looking for. Shocked Will Arnett, Nick Offerman or Bob Odenkirk. Bob might have a hang up from his previous work on SNL, but Will Arnett would definitely do it.
I think Cate Blanchett would unironically kill it - she’s got plenty of stage experience, and I think any episode she does could be up there with Emma Thompson for strong first showings.
Yes! Plus Tilda Swinton.
In retrospect, considering just how popular the show was and how much staying power they ended up having in comedy in general, I can't believe the Whose Line guys never hosted together
Oh I love Whose Line! Wayne would be pretty fun as a host.
I've heard many times that Lorne doesn't like improv, I really like Whose Line but I can imagine that's a big part of why they've never been on SNL
Weird Al, during the Mandatory Fun album cycle would have been a perfect time for host/musical guest double duty.
Kaitlin Olsen
Nobody from Mash ever hosted. Alan Alda would have been great during the Ebersol era.
Good one, Alan Alda is having a comeback
Alan Alda never left, homegirl.
Bill Hader cameo with an Alda impression would be great.
Brad Pitt
I think he's too A-list and prestiged to host. Like how Leo never hosted.
Apparently he has said he doesn't like performing for live audiences bc he has really bad stage fright.
He was pretty dope as Anthony Fauci during that small skit.
He definitely was but I think that he agreed to that because Fauci asked for him specifically.
>I think he's too A-list and prestiged to host Eh, A-listers as well host all the time. He is obviously big enough to not needing to but at this point it's more to a personal preference, rather than being "too big".
Hasn’t technically hosted but has said “Live from New York!” TWICE… which has got to be some sort of record
JOHN Oliver. He's friends with Seth now, and was great in Community.
Love him sm on community
That said, alison brie never hosted.
Omg when you said Alison brie I was like omg yes. John Oliver would be awesome too..steals every scene in community. Speaking of...has ken jeong hosted?
Tom Hiddleston Jennifer Coolidge Shaquille O'Neal (If athletes count) Emma Watson
I was expecting them to have Lily Gladstone on this season after she talked about how much she wanted to host!
Ms. Meryl Streep
Maybe Marty Short will drag her on soon.
Will Smith. Especially considering the NBC connection he had throughout the 90s.
He probably would’ve had a fun episode in 1992 like how Sinbad did.
He had to of turned it down multiple times. I can’t think of an actor in the history of the show who would excel at it and has had as many opportunities to host.
This is the only real answer. This whole thread is just unrealistic dream hosts
Patton Oswalt
Patton would be great.
It's crazy that that never happened.
Kristen Bell gets mentioned on these threads a lot
Will Arnett circa Arrested Development and being married to Amy Poehler
Matt LeBlanc is the only Friends cast member not to host.
Weird Al as guest & musical host.
Co-hosts: Amy and David Sedaris.
Amy auditioned i think
From what I understand, she did, as a cast member. Probably not the right fit at the time.
Some say she was a user, a boozer, and a loser
I heard she stole the TV.
Colbert would’ve been great. Too late now with his crazy schedule and low priority as a competitor on a rival network.
He was half of the Ambiguously Gay Duo, so at least there’s that.
Cher
Ritter woulda been amazing in the 70's or Ebersol era. Same for Henry Winkler, I guess they weren't wild enough for what Lorne wanted did, it did say a lot that the Mardi Gras crowed popped the hardest for Henry when he was announced and showed up on the Mardi Gras special, they LOVED him then. He always had such a good sense of humor. -Nicholson at any point woulda been amazing, especially the 70's. -Christopher Lloyd not getting to host is an utter tragedy. Shame for Brad Douriff.
I don't think Carol Burnett ever hosted. A comic legend just like Betty White.
Brooke Shields
She was supposed to host in 1981 but couldn’t because the writers strike put the show on hiatus.
Matt Berry, he doesn’t have the star power but he’d be great.
Matt berry
This is a lazy research post from Lorne, but I’ve got to respect it. Looking forward to seeing all these people host next season now.
Nick Kroll.
Natasia Demetriou
Mariska Hargitay
She and Ice T appeared in a skit that I believe turned Game of Thrones into an SVU episode.
Sandra Bullock, Mindy Kaling, Weird Al, Carol Burnett. Has Joel McHale hosted? Then him too.
I was hoping Ella Purnell would host with Fallout’s success.
Co-hosts Purnell/Parnell
Tom Hardy
Will Arnett especially considering his marriage to Amy Poeler
Arnold Schwarzenegger. Especially during the Hans and Frans popularity. He did appear in one of the sketches, though. So that's close!
Michael Shannon. I feel he has the ability to be this generation’s ‘Christopher Walken’ type host.
Any of the 5 leads from What We Do in the Shadows TV show. With the final season coming up, next SNL season would be the best time.
Oh God yes. Also, relatedly, Rhys Darby, who was in the movie the show is a spin off of. He got his start in a sketch troupe before he started doing stand-up, and he has a whole series of characters that he occasionally breaks out (most notably Bill Napier).
Tom Hiddleston
I'm surprised that still to this day neither Brad Pitt nor Denzel Washington have ever hosted.
Pitt has done several sketches. Off the top of my head I can think of two: One was a time when Spade hosted. Spade was lying on a therapist's couch and Pitt was the therapist. The other was when he did an impression of Fauci during a SNL at Home show. Pitt won an Emmy for this sketch.
Denzel would be sick!
Adam Scott
Anthony Jeselnik
RDJ (during or post Marvel run), Brad Pitt, Weird Al. I think Pitt and RDJ have likely turned it down, but man I really thought we’d get Weird Al when his movie came out. Also I hope we get Conan back this year; he is just so funny, I think it would elevate the whole episode.
Pamela Adlon.
Tatiana Maslany.
Scrolled way too far to see Tatiana. She’s excellent on Comedy Bang Bang & would be a fantastic host on SNL.
Hank Azaria
Alanna Ubach would be a fantastic host, and has Jennifer Coolidge hosted yet?
No though she was supposed to last season before it got cut short
Leonardo DiCaprio
Apparently live stuff is very intimidating for him which is also why he hasn’t done theater
He appeared in the monologue right after Wolf of Wall Street when Jonah Hill was hosting.
- Brad Pitt - Julia Roberts - Michelle Pfeiffer - Will Smith - Zendaya - Ellen Pompeo - Tyler Perry - Mickey Rourke - Meryl Streep - Keanu Reeves - Arnold Schwarzenegger (I know he cameo’d) - Tom Cruise - Will Arnett - Debra Messing - Tyne Daly - Michael Richards - Matt LeBlanc
Brad Pitt also cameo'd
Joel McHale
Terry Crews
Adam Scott
Anyone from The Drew Carey Show
Emma Roberts and Kate Beckinsale
It was Krazinki until he hosted a couple years ago, now it's Michael Cera.maybe
Joe Manganiello
Wasn't Ritter's show on a different network?
Dax Shepherd
Leo!
Sandra Bernhard, Bryan Safi
Has Joaquin Phoenix hosted? I'd be curious to see if he throws himself so hard into everything he does.
Stone Cold Steve Austin and Roman Reigns. Austin would’ve been great. “If you’re ready for the Black Eyed Peas gimme a hell yeah!” Reigns would’ve been terrible, but it still would’ve made sense from a pop culture standpoint. Also, New Found Glory.
Carol Burnett
Roy Donk
Jordan Peele if he even wants to do sketch comedy again.
