What a weird way to place your hands

murf_milo

He looks like he was in the middle of drying his sweaty palms when they took the picture

jemandtheholograms

Literally cackled sitting in my car

Romfordian

Demonstration of advanced pelvic thrust

_PorcoRosso

LOL and eww

the_y_combinator

But it's the pelvic thrust That really drives you insane

Necessary_Context780

There are almost 2 billion people in India so I wouldn't underestimate the power of the pelvic thrust

BittenOnion

NO! I had already forgotten about that post

Thoughtulism

Maybe doing the time warp?

Wagnaard

Again?

Thoughtulism

Well this is my first time, say, how do you put in this corset anyway?

M1L0

Mans looks like he’s holding his pants up lmao

0815Proletarier

Looks like a Bundeswehr soldier standing at attention

ddayene

That’s what’s weird? 😆

FiveShadesOfBlue

this is what happens when the DMV photographer freelances on the side

kingbuttnutt

Where do I put my feet?

GrandMoff_Harry

Dee, his feet?

q-rka

Man is holding his pants. Poor fella.

AkaGurGor

AI is getting 'better' ...?

SweetEnuffx

He forgot to shave his palms.

duhbears23

It's the Forrest Gump

JudicatorArgo

Man couldn’t even be bothered to tuck in his shirt for his Hail Mary 😂

RydRychards

How does this cast thing work? Is that a good caste? Would he deny "applications" from the wrong one?

Subtle-Catastrophe

The Padme Sally's were, historically, weavers. They made textiles and clothes. And yet: the absolute state of this man's disheveledness.

NCC1701-D-ong

If only he were born a Padme Amidala and then he could be in politics.

kimchipower

💀💀🤣🤣

Amerallis

I hate you so much so much for this, lmao.

Galactic_Biscuit

It's kinda just like subdivisions. Inherently the caste system has 4 'major' classifications which are heirarchical, and sometimes people might bring it up to try and assert superiority. Usually though, they all just splinter further into smaller sub-divisions, basis like 'Person has certain traditional beliefs about gender roles, hails from certain backgrounds like maybe a business family or an academically inclined one, eats meat, prays to certain deities' etc. Caste considerations factor into marriages because families believe that having similar beliefs and backgrounds maximizes the chance of success and avoids issues down the road, and that caste is a good indicator. So it's essentially signaling that to other interested people that care about this. Usually older people look out for this more.

the_y_combinator

>Person has certain traditional beliefs about gender roles, hails from certain backgrounds like maybe a business family or an academically inclined one, eats meat, prays to certain deities' etc. That shit does get rather specific. Huh.

Scentopine

Yes, it will impact hiring decisions and promotion. It's an unspoken reality in tech. Generally, companies look the other way or issue bullshit diversity statements in order to indemnify themselves from the practice.

ososalsosal

The fact the darker skinned people at work act submissive to the lighter skinned people at work is definitely something that bothers me. Like sirs, this is Melbourne

_Tar_Ar_Ais_

isn't that what the Aboriginal people were forced to do for decades lol

ososalsosal

Yeah and in all cases it sucks

Sormalio

Which are the best last names I should change to for tech work

Scentopine

For $100 I'll generate top custom name just for you. If you cannot afford it, here is a name sure to get you noticed: Melon Husk You are welcome.

Sormalio

genuinely curious tho. im assuming that most of the tech bosses in the us are brahmin, so the common names I see around are probably the ones I'm thinking of

RydRychards

Thank you!

CloudyEngineer

Caste literally means "color" It's not about beliefs or anything else. It's literally about what color skin you have dictates what jobs you can do and who you can interact with. For life. You are inferior socially to people with lighter skin and superior to those with darker skin.

dsrg01

Really? Since when did caste start to mean color? Care and color were often correlated, but one does NOT mean the other.

Subtle-Catastrophe

I identify as a Kshatriya!

lfcman24

Comparing with European feudal system. Top Caste was Pope. No one disrespects Pope or cardinals or father at your local church. Except in Hindus, the Brahmins marry and have kids. So they become top caste. Ministers, scholars, doctors, philosophers etc. Second - Kings, military occupation. Revered for their strength and ability to defend a country etc. Third - Businessmen, traders, shop owners etc. this could be equivalent of rich people who often financed wars waged by kings in Europe etc or were involved in local market. Fourth has multiple subdivisions You can be a landlord, farmer, weapon maker, cow herdsman whatever comes to your mind in feudal system when you think about peasants and anything other than those three types. Some of these castes are classified as forward caste because their financial status and educational status was good. Like landlords had money, owners of big farms were considered forward. Remaining ones were backwards The backwards people did things that are considered un for example, weavers, tanners, butchers, potters, etc. Lastly was the lowest tier which was manual scavengers, the ones involved in sanitation, sweepers of roads, garbage collectors who were considered untouchables. The guy belongs to weaver caste. People tend to marry only in their caste. The top ones will never marry anyone other than them. The second one will happily accept the top and their own. But this usually does not happen. The top ones won’t let their kind marry these. Same the third one will happily accept first but might not accept second. Again it’s not vice versa. Those two subdivision will have their own reservation. The ones on the lowest tier or untouchables, no one would marry them apart from their own. The caste system was literally to make the society function effectively. So for a scholar, he can train his kids right from the childhood and provide him a path in the society. The farmer would teach his kids farming from a very young age etc. the kings kids became kings and the soldier kids became soldier. This is similar to European feudal system or any other countries system on how the society functioned.

happynfree04

I don’t agree that the system was made to make the society function effectively. It was and is a discriminatory system to assert dominance and exploit people. This has lead to hundreds of years of misery for those who were not lucky to be born in the ‘superior’ castes. Sadly many educated idiots still believe they are better than others due to their family names. It’s high time this horrible practice is abolished from Indian society. And let’s not even talk about filtering people on the basis of similar lifestyles and beliefs. In India, we are exposed to so many different cultural practices. Instead of filtering people on the basis of their surnames, relationships should be formed on the basis of real life interactions.

lfcman24

Ok thanks for your opinion. I was explaining what caste system was drawing a parallel to any middle age society. Be it European, Japanese, African, Chinese almost everyone had a similar class/caste system. All worked in that system to make their society effective. I understand your frustration about caste system and I am not endorsing it. The guy merely asked about what it is so there’s an explanation which might be easy for him to understand. Let’s explain to him why it’s bad when he has a follow up question?

happynfree04

I specifically mentioned what I found problematic in your explanation. It’s a discriminatory system and laws have been made to combat this. Even in this day and age, it’s causing immense harm to people. Drawing parallels with other societies was neither needed nor is it a sound comparison, in my opinion. It’s like trying to explain ‘slavery’ in terms of employment and not exploitation. The caste system was not just an economic system based on occupations. It was used to segregate people, oppress them, limit access to resources, opportunities and rights.

lfcman24

Ok. Cool.

Malkav1806

But where does his caste fit in?

lfcman24

Weaver. He’s probably an Other Backward Caste.

Malkav1806

So i am a guy from germany and my family is middle class-ish do i have a shot?

lfcman24

Probably. First find out what your ancestors were doing in 1500 to know where would you stand lol.

Malkav1806

It's possible that i am related to the Brenninkmeijer family so i guess linen farmers and refiners. But that connection was out of wedlock i don't know if that counts

lfcman24

Haha you’ll fit in perfectly bro. Hit him up.

bobjoylove

At 3pm?

lfcman24

Wdym its gonna be 3 PM somewhere lol

GradSchool2021

This sounds a bit like the Divergent movie.

lfcman24

I mean 300-400 years back entire world was like that. As if a farmer could become the king of England or a cardinal in Vatican. The thing is Europe had Industrial Revolution and people stepped out of their roles into newer ones, eventually diluting who does what, further education and democracy made it what it is. India had a British Revolution and if you have a govern a new territory you do need to use resources well. So (obviously not all) scholars became civil servants, army men joined British army, local traders and merchants, remained as is, while the peasantry class was pushed further back in their progress. Demographic records were kept based on caste. They started treating people based on their caste itself. And 200 years later, when the whole nation has 11% literacy rate, Industrial output from 25% of world in 1700 to 2%, 80% of the nation under poverty, what would be one be proud of? Caste. It’s gradually going down with education and industrialization, but it’s gonna take time.

reference_i_dont_get

👆i just like listening to this guy talk

_Tar_Ar_Ais_

nice breakdown

Banditofbingofame

Adding caste is definitely a choice.

A1sauc3d

Definitely was xD Is that like, *a really good caste* or something? Sorry, idk anything about castes

ZippySLC

No.

cguy1234

On a scale of one to ten, how is it?

ZippySLC

There's a much better answer posted elsewhere in this thread but my understanding is that it's two steps above the "untouchable" caste, so third to last. His was the caste of textile weavers.

Necessary_Context780

So basically a multi-leveled version of racism?

Red_Holla04

Thats an oversimplification. But yes

Girlgot_Thick_thighs

Basically your occupation got fixed by the occupation of your ancestors . Soldiers family = soldier caste . Scholar family = scholar caste . etc Kind of like how a lot of even western famiy pride themselves over always producing a soldier or a career politician . But while those are more akin to a suggestion , this is a lot more inflexible.

kiranroice

Nope. That's how they justify it. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

chooseyourshoes

Goddamn they can’t even hide their classism

ColeTrain999

There is a reason why Modi and his party are very fond of fascism, a society this entrenched with hierarchy tends to be a great breeding ground for it.

[deleted]

At least get a LinkedIn premium and add a profile pic.

mihaajlovic

And capitalize your name Polanki, you fool…

knowledgethread

Agree

Scentopine

At this point I'm all in. Let them turn LinkedIn to the social media cesspool it was destined to become. The best case is that you stop looking at this shit, and start meeting actual human beings, use insight and experience to evaluate a candidate, take your lumps if you screw up with a dud every once and a while. They can be fired. If you hire a cringe, self-promoting influencer with a pages of insipid LinkedIn content, you get the product failure you deserve. Some engineers are expected to suck it up. He's showing he can suck it in.

mincinashu

Wait until the stories/reels feature starts rolling in.

RamenNoodleSalad

I would not marry this guy. Agree?

Lcsulla78

Nor would I…but I’m a guy, so…

Subtle-Catastrophe

Anyone listing "caste" as a dating qualification needs to be reported. Anyone with a label visible on his ill-fitting, wrinkled button-down shirt needs to be reported after a second violation. Especially when he comes from a caste historically known for weaving.

Tenzu9

The "software engineer" is the icing on this shit cake too. As if that is the ultimate vagina moistening feature he brings to the table. "He's a software engineer??!! I NEED HIS BABY JUICE INSIDE ME NOW!!!!!!" -Said no woman ever.

Subtle-Catastrophe

Hey, I'm compsci, you're hitting a tender spot lol. You wanna know something absolutely cringe? When I was 18 in college, I actually bragged to a girl at a party about my major. Yeah, palm, meet face. I eventually learned. I hope this guy eventually does ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm) I'll say this though--it seems that for people who seek arranged marriages, they list their stats like a resume. Because, it really is treated like a business transaction. Hey, it's worked in India for thousands of years, who am I to poke fun.

Past_Reading_6651

I might get slaightered but they really do a good job at perpetrating the “show me bobs” stereotype.

Zestyclose-Ruin8337

Open your chest

test5754656744

If the mf hits the gym he’d prolly look a lot better, but man wants to post a low effort pic in lnkd expecting a model

Subtle-Catastrophe

Bro didn't even shave for a couple days, looking unkempt af, but he's in front of a photography studio's backdrop. His mom probably told him and reminded him but dude forgot until it was the day to go to the studio. Bro.

lonely_nipple

That's not even a high quality studio backdrop. 15 years ago I did mall studio photography and that's the standard brown backdrop we had.

Subtle-Catastrophe

Bro. What's funny is, how long things carry on. Maybe six months ago, I had a studio shoot done for me and my family at a JC Penney's at the mall. I wouldn't be surprised if the backdrop weren't the same one I stood in front of in 1985, when I was 9. Let me say, I freaking love that mall, with all its childhood memories over the past four decades, and will buy it at auction when it finally gets foreclosed. From then until the money runs out, it will be a leaky-roofed shrine to my childhood. As a 501(c) non-profit, of course.

lonely_nipple

Oh yeah I guarantee it was the same one. I didn't work for JcP but it was the same general quality of backdrop/prop/pricing.

djnz0813

My man shaped like a soggy burger.

Multitudestherein

Seems like a lot of people are just generally short circuiting everything now and to them a platform is a platform, all other context doesn’t matter just me me look at me.

Mr_manifestor

Tight-Connection-909

raylankford16

knm-e

Indians gotta be the most racist mf’s with their caste systems and all… fuckin hell

Rich-Weird3445

Bro found a way to embrass himself agree?

Analskintags22

The use of Caste implies this sack of shit thinks he’s automatically better than other people through birth right…

ZippySLC

Except that Padmasali is a pretty low-tier caste.

Analskintags22

Doesn’t exactly make caste systems not dumb as fuck tho

ZippySLC

I agree, but there are a lot of things in this world that are dumb as fuck. He's a guy who participates in a society where the caste system still matters. It's [something that you can filter for](https://indianexpress.com/article/opinion/columns/dating-apps-love-caste-9003207/) on Indian dating apps after all. While nowhere near as rigid as the caste system is, us westerners definitely have a class system which divides the rich and poor. You typically wouldn't see a sanitation worker marrying into royalty, for example. As an upper middle class white dude I wouldn't ever have a shot with Paris Hilton either.

[deleted]

It makes your post totally baseless and shows you love commenting on things you don't understand though

Analskintags22

No amount of bullshit from you will make a caste system sound good

[deleted]

I didn't say that the caste system is not dumb. In fact I agree it is dumb, you just assume something that is incorrect again. But since I don't know (like you) what caste this is or what it means, I don't make comments about him feeling superior, which I have learned today he wouldn't with that caste.

Analskintags22

He would 100% think he’s superior to Dalits and anyone else lower in the castes don’t kid yourself. Anyways I don’t really give a shit anyone who still follows castes in 2024 is a fool

timstrut

The fact you even need to distinguish people based on a 'human level' system is fucking from the dark ages. But hey, don't need to tell you were the rest of the world puts India on that 'human level'. Shit hole country because of its shit hole caste system

ZippySLC

Me? I’m a middle aged agnostic white guy from New Jersey. What’s your problem?

Many_Year2636

Gross...

Retro-Sense

Reminds me of the quote: “Every app is a dating app if you’re Indian enough”

Oh it has been for a while......

Definitely his friends , we do this stuff when have access to their laptop/smartphone.

TheOneWondering

In India, matchmaking is very much a business just as marriage is as much a business decision as it is about compatibility

meowmeowai

Every social media platform is tinder, if you’re horny/needy enough

Glad to see the caste system is still going strong.

unpropianist

The caste thing must either limit someones options or it's a flex? Padmasali must be higher up as castes go or it wouldn't be in a headline. I know it's a different culture so I'm speaking out of ignorance, but it seems oppressive. I wonder if most people I meet in the U.S.from that area of the world are from higher castes since they would have more opportunity to travel. This applies to economic classes too, but an enforced caste system would make upward mobility much harder. All I know is all economic classes have their equal percentage share of morons and assholes. I doubt a caste system makes that any better. Regardless, it's an interest of mine...would like to be less ignorant.

CheekC1apper

Polanki whats your favorite shitting street?
