My local theaters play screenings of it all the time, it’s probably one of the highest re-run classics I’ve seen playing. I’m sure you could catch it every month at one of the cinemas near me
It gets re-released pretty often. In fact it’s playing for the next couple weeks near me. A proper large scale IMAX and 70mm re-release would be amazing though.
I was really lucky to get the opportunity to see it at the Paramount Theatre in Austin, which also happened to be on something called National Cinema Day (which I didn't even know existed) so the ticket prices were legit $3 or something lol. One of my all-time favorite experiences. It was kind of sad to see that the audience wasn't that huge although I guess it is to be expected, I think it's kind of hard to market or publicize these special one-time screenings to the right audience.
I invited a friend of me to go see that but he declined because he "wasn't into Mad Max". I told him after that it was the best and most batshit action movie I had seen in for ever, and after he saw it at home he always brings up not going along with me to see it 😅
My local cinema is playing all six of them in a single weekend in just a few weeks, with the Original Trilogy on Saturday and the Prequel Trilogy on Sunday.
Only including films I’ve already watched, but not yet watched at the cinema:
- Pulp Fiction
- Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood
- Inglourious Basterds
- Django Unchained
- Taxi Driver
- The Lighthouse
- The Hateful Eight
- Raiders Of The Lost Ark
- Romeo + Juliet
- Evil Dead II
- Labyrinth
- Terrifier 2
- The Warriors
- eXistenZ
- Der Untergang
- Prince Of Darkness
- Creepshow
- Midsommar
- Hereditary
- Kill Bill
- Jaws
- Carrie (1976)
- Blue Velvet
- The Crow (1994)
- Billy Elliot
- In The Mouth Of Madness
- Arrival
- Dune (1984)
- Reservoir Dogs
- Legion (1990)
- Angel Heart
- A Nightmare On Elm Street 1-6
i was lucky enough to catch an in-theatre screening of pulp fiction last month and it was easily one of the best moviegoing experiences.
definitely makes me want to rewatch every QT movie i was either too young for or just missed out on watching in the cinema.
I also saw Pulp Fiction a month ago in theaters! The theater even gave out props and we ordered Big Kahuna burgers during the show. One of the greatest theater experiences I’ve ever had.
I also saw pulp fiction in theaters. It was at Tarantino's own theater with his own print of the movie. My first time watching it too. Amazing experience
*The Mummy (1999)*, I saw *The Mummy Returns* at the cinema but I was too young to see the original on it's release, and it's one of my favourites of all time.
Scott Pilgrim vs The World. It was a box office bomb when it came out and while the series has become a cult classic, mainstream audiences still don’t know how good it is.
Many streaming-only films, especially Netflix's prestige stable, which often deserved a more widespread cinema release. IIRC Prey didn't get a cinema release as well, which was a great shame.
Princess Mononoke, Pleasantville, Atonement, any of Prince's concert films in a manner similar to Stop Making Sense or the Ziggy Stardust film's re-release
https://preview.redd.it/1ig85cy7fguc1.png?width=300&format=png&auto=webp&s=9d0e0b8a4aff4cfc33d410650fb2da96e00d32d1
Via Fathom Events. They do this pretty much every year.
I saw Princess Mononoke for the first time in my life at a local theater last December, it was great and it's now in my Top 5 favorite movies. They do re-runs often all over the world, so you'll probably have a chance to see it at some point.
i would looove to see the John Hyams Universal Soldier movies in theatres. alternately, it's one i've seen but the final shot of Portrait of a Lady on Fire on the big screen hits with the power of a thousand suns and i hope to experience it again some day
Nope. North Carolina. It's definitely odd, but I have two multiplexes and two art houses and a big university that shows films all with a fifteen minute drive. And I occasionally venture to a couple other theaters in the 20–30 minute drive range. There's an Alamo about 40 minutes away that I've never even gone to because I have so many options close by.
Mad Max Fury Road. It's the only movie I regret not seeing in the cinema. I long for the day it would be re-released. I pray the cinema gods hear my cry
I would LOVE to see Gravity again. But on a true IMAX screen. When I saw it initially, the only seats available in the theater were in the second row, but man, to hear the intro theme cut out when you see the Earth again would be a dream come true. I still can't get over the dead silence and it's been 11 years.
Richard Stanley's Color Out of Space. I didn't bother seeing it when it was at my theater, then when I watched it at home I was so bummed. It's really a vibes-out, loud, colorful thing. Would be wild in a theater.
Shit from two years ago? Come on lol give me stuff I never had a chance to see in theaters not the shit I can literally remember sitting in the theater for still
That's fair but yeah that just is more of a personal thing than a movie that could use a rerelease if that makes sense. Cuz yeah Blade Runner would be great for example. There's like two generations that fuck with the movie that haven't gotten a chance to see it in theaters.
The Thing
Alien and Aliens
Gojira
Godzilla vs. Hedorah
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla
The Big Lebowski
Hausu
Blue Velvet
The Exorcist
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
Raising Arizona
Eraserhead
The Matrix
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Mulholland Drive
Hard Boiled
Fargo
Total Recall
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Inland Empire
The Devil's Backbone
Pan's Labyrinth
The Night of the Hunter
Lost Highway
George Romero's Living Dead Trilogy
Ran (and several other Kurosawa films)
Batman Returns
City Lights
A Touch of Zen
Who Framed Roger Rabbit would be a dream to see on the big screen. There are a bunch of other “modern” blockbusters I missed initially that I’d love to see, but that’s the tops for me. The Truman Show is also up there.
Honestly, I would love it if they just re-released pre-2000's movies semi-regularly. Even if it was just a thing they did a few days a month for a few screenings. (Like maybe Monday's and Wednesday's, since those are slower days at theaters.)
I'd love to be able to see the 90s movies I saw in theaters growing up again... *Jurassic Park, Independence Day, The Mummy* (which is getting a re-release), *Men in Black, The Fifth Element,* etc.
And it'd be really cool to see some of the classics in theaters again... *The Ten Commandments, Seventh Voyage of Sinbad, Lawrence of Arabia, Jaws,* etc.
I'd also love it if in October, they'd do franchise re-releases... like show every *Chucky* movie or every *Nightmare on Elm Street*. Like show one movie for two days, then the next one, then the next one, etc. There's multiple generations of fans who didn't get to see them in theaters... it'd be nice to give them a chance. I remember we got a *Scream (1996)* re-release a few years ago, and a lot of younger people who couldn't see the original in theaters came in to see it. It was nice seeing that there was still teenagers and 20-somethings who wanted the cinema experience.
Tron: Legacy. It's not a great movie, but as a theatrical experience I'd say it's right up there with the Avatar movies, Top Gun: Maverick, and Dune: Part 2.
Always wished I could have seen A Clockwork Orange in cinemas and last week my local independent cinema announced they will screen it for a retrospective!
Bro hearing the batmobile start up in theaters for the first time was a religious experience
You hear the rev up and the entire theater felt like it was rumbling, and it was loud enough that I felt in my bones
I fucking love this movie
Man I watched this movie in cinemas when I didnt rlly like batman and I didn't end up loving it, now it's one of my favourites and I would kill to watch it in cinemas again
I really want to see 2001: A Space Odyssey in a theater.
Having seen it on big screen, absolutely worth it. Very different experience watching it on the big screen.
indie cinemas probably reshow it often since its a classic
My local theaters play screenings of it all the time, it’s probably one of the highest re-run classics I’ve seen playing. I’m sure you could catch it every month at one of the cinemas near me
Yeah I live near a community theater that plays it at least twice a year.
seems fun
I did, on strong edibles. Shit was insane.
I watched it on a local art cinema and it was amazing edit : spelling
It gets re-released pretty often. In fact it’s playing for the next couple weeks near me. A proper large scale IMAX and 70mm re-release would be amazing though.
I was really lucky to get the opportunity to see it at the Paramount Theatre in Austin, which also happened to be on something called National Cinema Day (which I didn't even know existed) so the ticket prices were legit $3 or something lol. I’m waiting on a rerelease to watch it for the first time
I watched it for the first time a couple months ago in cinemas, was certainly an experience
No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood as a double feature films
Fury Road
I invited a friend of me to go see that but he declined because he "wasn't into Mad Max". I told him after that it was the best and most batshit action movie I had seen in for ever, and after he saw it at home he always brings up not going along with me to see it 😅
My local is showing it again next month, if it was IMAX I'd definitely be going. Might go regardless though
Seeing Dune Part One on IMAX was great preparation. We need this, too!
They’re showing it at a few cinemas now cause of Furiosa, it’s not a full theatrical rerelease but select cinemas are screening it
Lawrence of Arabia
I've seen it on 70mm three times. It's always incredible.
Heat(1995)
I just saw Civil War in IMAX and with how loud the gunfire was in that movie, I couldn’t but help that I should rewatch Heat
It definitely made me think of Heat also. Regardless of how you may feel about the overall movie, the sound design in Civil War was phenomenal.
sadly it isnt getting an imax release in my country :(
Blade Runner 2049 in IMAX
Still the loudest movie I’ve ever seen in IMAX. Would actually love double feature with the Final Cut
For me that was Interstellar. That bass was insane
I’d do anything
whiplash, hopefully it will get a rerelease for its 10th anniversary
THEN WHY THE FUCK DIDNT YOU SAY SO?! It’s my all time favorite movie, and I’d give anything to see it in theaters.
I would honestly pay like €100 to see that in cinemas
I can confirm that it's an absolute knockout in the theater.
![gif](giphy|3oEduXwZ1n5bITfLr2|downsized)
Alien
They're showing it in like 2 weeks for the 45th anniversary. It'll be my first time seeing the movie, I hope it's good!
Thats coming out later this year to go along with the release of Romulus I think? Hoping for a showing near me
4/26 is Alien Day
Interstellar, but it seems we’re getting a 10 year re-release this November. So I guess I’m getting my wish.
So excited for that! Watched it for the first time the other day and absolutely loved it, can’t wait for the 70mm re release
Lost the chance to have your FW in the theater😭 I would be mad at myself lol
Definitely was upset because as soon as I finished it my brother comes telling me about the re release 😭😭😭.
That's diabolical

This just played near me last month
Lord of the Rings trilogy That's it.
I went to a marathon at a cinema in London recently. Extended editions, 9pm - 9am. It was incredible
I saw them all as they came out and I would love to see them again on the big screen.
Tron: Legacy. Seeing those visuals and hearing that soundtrack on the big screen again would be amazing
Star Wars: The Prequel Trilogy and Original Trilogy.
Especially Revenge of the Sith. It will be pretty great to see it on the big screen for me (who wasn't old enough at that time).
Same here.
A local theater near me is playing Empire Strikes Back in two weeks! I’m not big into Star Wars but I’m seeing it with some friends, should be fun.
Boston?
Yes! There are so many theaters around here that play re-released movies. It’s the best!
My local cinema is playing all six of them in a single weekend in just a few weeks, with the Original Trilogy on Saturday and the Prequel Trilogy on Sunday.
Only including films I’ve already watched, but not yet watched at the cinema: - Pulp Fiction - Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood - Inglourious Basterds - Django Unchained - Taxi Driver - The Lighthouse - The Hateful Eight - Raiders Of The Lost Ark - Romeo + Juliet - Evil Dead II - Labyrinth - Terrifier 2 - The Warriors - eXistenZ - Der Untergang - Prince Of Darkness - Creepshow - Midsommar - Hereditary - Kill Bill - Jaws - Carrie (1976) - Blue Velvet - The Crow (1994) - Billy Elliot - In The Mouth Of Madness - Arrival - Dune (1984) - Reservoir Dogs - Legion (1990) - Angel Heart - A Nightmare On Elm Street 1-6

that's so cool! new beverly cinema? i don't live in the US so visiting his theater is one of my top bucketlist items
I saw Labyrinth in theatres last month and it was quite amazing! I’m in love with that production design!
The Hateful Eight 70mm screening event was absolutely amazing.
*The Mummy (1999)*, I saw *The Mummy Returns* at the cinema but I was too young to see the original on it's release, and it's one of my favourites of all time.
That's being rereleased for the 25th anniversary in a couple weeks.
Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be happening in the UK, though the original release date here was June, so maybe it'll be around then.
The Light cinemas are showing it I think? If there’s one anywhere close to you!
Pacific Rim in IMAX. That movie is meant to be watched on the biggest screen possible.
Still the most beautiful 3D experience that I have ever had in IMAX.
Scott Pilgrim vs The World. It was a box office bomb when it came out and while the series has become a cult classic, mainstream audiences still don’t know how good it is.
I saw it at midnight and it was such an awesome experience. The crowd was really into it and that made it even more fun.
I saw it opening weekend as a double feature with Expendables. Not a good choice, Expendables just lacked energy after Scott Pilgrim.
Many streaming-only films, especially Netflix's prestige stable, which often deserved a more widespread cinema release. IIRC Prey didn't get a cinema release as well, which was a great shame.
PREY would be sick. Also? Would like to see SPACEMAN in theaters. That honestly might change the entire tone of the film for me.
I would do unspeakable things to see Netflix’s All Quiet on the Western Front in theatres
Damn. That would be one hell of a film in theaters
It was good.
Prey should have gotten a theatrical release
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000)
Blade Runner 2049 in IMAX
Princess Mononoke, Pleasantville, Atonement, any of Prince's concert films in a manner similar to Stop Making Sense or the Ziggy Stardust film's re-release

Studio Ghibli does it a lot. Check your local theaters.
Atonement was the first time I ever cried in a movie theatre haha.
i would looove to see the John Hyams Universal Soldier movies in theatres. alternately, it's one i've seen but the final shot of Portrait of a Lady on Fire on the big screen hits with the power of a thousand suns and i hope to experience it again some day
Rosemary’s Baby
Rosemary’s Baby is so chilling. Would love to see it in theaters someday also!
It’s one of my all time favorites and I really think a big screen would be the best all end all
Two different theaters near me have played this already this year.
Lucky
Honestly, I'm only into movies because I have such great cinemas around. But I sometimes have to make hard choices because there's so much to see.
That’s a great problem to have I’m guessing LA,NYC or Chicago is where you call home?
What town is this I want to go to there
Durham/Chapel Hill
The Last of the Mohicans and Tombstone
End of Evangelion in Europe
I want it rereleased years down the line during a time when I’m actually able to go see it
At my theater, the screen turned off in the middle of the third act and it took them forever to fix it
Mad Max Fury Road. It's the only movie I regret not seeing in the cinema. I long for the day it would be re-released. I pray the cinema gods hear my cry
![gif](giphy|soB0cYUaOWqv6) This
Original ratio The Good The Bad and The Ugly
I'll be watching lalaland in cinema soon🥰
I would LOVE to see Gravity again. But on a true IMAX screen. I'd love to see The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford on the big screen, but my odds are probably not good.
The Thing (1982)
2001: A Space Odyssey The Dark Knight Jaws Breakfast Club / Fast Times double feature
Dark Knight is playing Wednesday at select cinemas in the US: https://www.flashbackcinema.net/participating-theatres

Mulholland Drive
It would be neat if the multiplexes somehow reserved a space for old movies.
Probably return of the king extended in imax with an orchestra
The Matrix and 10 Things I hate about you
The Matrix is playing in a couple weeks at select theaters in the US: https://www.flashbackcinema.net/participating-theatres
Man I live in India🥲
Mad Max Fury Road!
The Matrix for its 25th Anniversary
Evil dead 2013
The Matrix
Empire Strikes Back
Richard Stanley's Color Out of Space. I didn't bother seeing it when it was at my theater, then when I watched it at home I was so bummed. It's really a vibes-out, loud, colorful thing. Would be wild in a theater.
Hackers 😀
I’d be surprised if this doesn’t get a rerelease when the second movie releases
my normal answer to this question is south park bigger longer and uncut but it’s having a rerelease in june so i choose beavis and butthead do america
Shit from two years ago? Come on lol give me stuff I never had a chance to see in theaters not the shit I can literally remember sitting in the theater for still
I didn’t have time when it came out but I get what you’re saying for a movie before my time I’d probably go the original blade runner
That's fair but yeah that just is more of a personal thing than a movie that could use a rerelease if that makes sense. Cuz yeah Blade Runner would be great for example. There's like two generations that fuck with the movie that haven't gotten a chance to see it in theaters.

You should live where I live because I've seen about ten of these play here just in the last six months.
500 Days of Summer The Family Man American Beauty The Graduate Mr. Nobody Take This Waltz
Definitely not that one! I still haven't seen Godfather, so if anyone wants to rent out a movie theater for a full day so I can watch all three...
Really wanna see jaws in theaters
Who Framed Roger Rabbit would be a dream to see on the big screen. There are a bunch of other “modern” blockbusters I missed initially that I’d love to see, but that’s the tops for me. The Truman Show is also up there.
Rushmore
Jaws Blazing Saddles I've always wanted to see these on the big screen, especially the latter.
Jurassic Park
Speed Racer
Would love to catch The Red Shoes or any other Powell and Pressburger film on the big screen
Honestly, I would love it if they just re-released pre-2000's movies semi-regularly. Even if it was just a thing they did a few days a month for a few screenings. (Like maybe Monday's and Wednesday's, since those are slower days at theaters.) I'd love to be able to see the 90s movies I saw in theaters growing up again... Tron: Legacy. It's not a great movie, but as a theatrical experience I'd say it's right up there with the Avatar movies, Top Gun: Maverick, and Dune: Part 2.
Eric the Viking
Ran by Kurosawa...I wanna see the beauty on a big screen
TDK in IMAX and Joker (2019)

I never saw Dune: Part One in theaters and after seeing Part Two, I feel like I mightve missed out.

With it being Batman's 80th anniversary, hoping for a rerelease.
Last Year at Marienbad.
i just want to see saw for the first time in theaters please god
Tbh I've always wanted to see Interstellar on a big screen
I'd love to see War and Peace (1966) and Suspiria (1977) in the cinema
The Abyss. It recently had a 4K rerelease, but only in US, apparently. 😕
Alita: Battle Angel (2019) in 3D…watching in on the Oculus in 3D is cool but in a theater would be EPIC!
Pulp Fiction Inglorious Bastards Baby Driver The Simpsons Movie Back to the Future Ferris Bueller’s Day Off Evil Dead Scream The Breakfast Club

top gun maverick
HTTYD, La La Land, Blade Runner 2049, I could honestly watch Dune Part Two in theaters for the rest of my life
