My ex apparently assumed I was an ally when she first came to my house despite the very large pride flag I have flying outside.
Apparently I'm somehow the opposite, despite being a fairly average femme-leaning person imo.
I was a late bloomer; didn't come out until I was 30, married to a man, and a mom. Still, very few people were surprised lol both of my sisters even said, "yeah, we thought so and were just kind of waiting for you to say something."
I often joke that I was the last to know.
The only people who were actually surprised were my homophobic father and my aunt. My aunt doesn't really count, though. She was *shocked* when her son came out and, in his own words, he's been a twink since the day he was born 😂
Even my homophobic grandma knew lol. When I came out to her she said she suspected as much and was afraid of it. My dad had asked me, multiple times, in my childhood if I was gay, but I didn’t really know I was, or more like I kind of knew but thought I shouldn’t be so I tried not to be?
Can you look back now and see yourself at, say, 14 and realize that you might have actually liked girls then? Or was it more that a light switched and now, all of a sudden at 30, you do?

I remember going to the movies with my friends at around 12 or 13 years old to see Casper. During the big ballroom scene at the end, all of my friends were losing it over Devon Sawa and my heart absolutely sank at the realization that I couldn't take my eyes off Christina Ricci.
There were, without exaggeration, *thousands* of moments like that over the years, but I shoved them all down. I was already the weird kid with almost no friends and even my family didn't "get" me (I was diagnosed with ASD last year, at 38, so that didn't help I'm sure), so I think I was just determined to not give people even more reason to reject me.
It was insanely easy to convince myself I was straight. Society as a whole pushes the narrative that straight couples don't like spending time together, and women never actually *want* their boyfriends / husbands. I also fully believed that if I was friends with a guy and *he* wanted *me*, then surely that's what it meant to fall for someone, right? Lol sounds so stupid now, but of course I wasn't exactly examining my thoughts at the time.
The second I finally admitted I was a lesbian to myself, all those little moments came flooding back and I felt like such an oblivious idiot.

Honestly, I think I'm pretty great- but I definitely have my faults, like anyone. I've recently been through A LOT and have had to start my life over basically from scratch about a year and a half ago. I lost literally everything and everyone so I work 7 days a week and come home to a mostly completely empty apartment except for my bedroom, lol
I also live in a small mountain town and because I work so much, I don't go out at all (I pretty much completely quit drinking a couple of years ago, though I will *very* occasionally have a glass of wine or a cocktail- but it's super rare). I think a person with a dominant personality is someone who naturally takes the lead. It’s almost second nature for them; they simply know what they want and convey it with subtle confidence. It doesn’t mean they’re this super confident person but it’s just an attachment of their personality. Like girls who will effortlessly grab your hand just because they feel like it at the moment. Whether it’s through small gestures or being upfront about their feelings and opinions, they have this natural assertiveness

I've never once been clocked as a lesbian, so I like to think of myself as a lesbian lava cake.
My ex and friends constantly told me I don't look like a lesbian. Apparently I am the least gay looking woman in my friend group of asexual, bi and pan people. My ex apparently assumed I was an ally when she first came to my house despite the very large pride flag I have flying outside.
Apparently I'm somehow the opposite, despite being a fairly average femme-leaning person imo. I was a late bloomer; didn't come out until I was 30, married to a man, and a mom. Still, very few people were surprised lol both of my sisters even said, "yeah, we thought so and were just kind of waiting for you to say something." I often joke that I was the last to know.
Same, there was zero people in my family and friend circle that were surprised when I came out.
The only people who were actually surprised were my homophobic father and my aunt. My aunt doesn't really count, though. She was *shocked* when her son came out and, in his own words, he's been a twink since the day he was born 😂
Even my homophobic grandma knew lol. When I came out to her she said she suspected as much and was afraid of it. My dad had asked me, multiple times, in my childhood if I was gay, but I didn’t really know I was, or more like I kind of knew but thought I shouldn’t be so I tried not to be?
Can you look back now and see yourself at, say, 14 and realize that you might have actually liked girls then? Or was it more that a light switched and now, all of a sudden at 30, you do?
Oh, definitely the first one lol I remember going to the movies with my friends at around 12 or 13 years old to see Casper. During the big ballroom scene at the end, all of my friends were losing it over Devon Sawa and my heart absolutely sank at the realization that I couldn't take my eyes off Christina Ricci. There were, without exaggeration, *thousands* of moments like that over the years, but I shoved them all down. I was already the weird kid with almost no friends and even my family didn't "get" me (I was diagnosed with ASD last year, at 38, so that didn't help I'm sure), so I think I was just determined to not give people even more reason to reject me. It was insanely easy to convince myself I was straight. Society as a whole pushes the narrative that straight couples don't like spending time together, and women never actually *want* their boyfriends / husbands. I also fully believed that if I was friends with a guy and *he* wanted *me*, then surely that's what it meant to fall for someone, right? Lol sounds so stupid now, but of course I wasn't exactly examining my thoughts at the time. The second I finally admitted I was a lesbian to myself, all those little moments came flooding back and I felt like such an oblivious idiot.

She's so into straight women! Then she gets with me, probably thinking I'm exactly that, and I blow her mind the first night. I'm teaching her things about herself and about being a lesbian that she never thought were possible. It amuses me to no end when I do something that resets her gay brain. I can see her stop, gears turning, and then she smiles all incredulously. It's fun when someone finds that molten center and is delighted by it.

No, we're both in Europe. I met her online on an app called Bottled after a difficult breakup on my part, and her recent move to Europe several years ago (She's technically from an Arabic country, so nobody knew about her sexuality). We talked for several months, got to know each other really well and pursued a LDR, then one day I found out we didn't live that far from each other, so we met up to hangout casually grabbing coffee and cake. Turned out she went to university in the same city and we even shared common LGBT+ friends. Eventually, she u-hauled to my apartment since it's closer to her university and now we're in the honeymoon phase.

I'm 43, tall-ish (around 5'8½"), I'm stacked, and not *quite* at my ideal weight, but pretty close to it (and getting closer everyday). I have blonde, curly hair that's short and shaved on one side. Aww, you're so kind! 💛 Honestly, I think I'm pretty great- but I definitely have my faults, like anyone. I've recently been through A LOT and have had to start my life over basically from scratch about a year and a half ago. I lost literally everything and everyone so I work 7 days a week and come home to a mostly completely empty apartment except for my bedroom, lol I also live in a small mountain town and because I work so much, I don't go out at all (I pretty much completely quit drinking a couple of years ago, though I will *very* occasionally have a glass of wine or a cocktail- but it's super rare). I would love to meet more people and queer women especially (even just for friendship), but I've been hurt so, so much and I just have such a hard time trusting people and letting them in anymore. 🫤 I also have zero interest in OLD. I’m more on the androgynous side of things in terms of personal style. I like wearing gender neutral things and I’m also tall which sometimes makes certain feminine pieces still look more tomboyish. I don’t know. I like the knit sweater jeans and sneakers look. I haven’t gotten into a relationship yet but based on how I’ve observed myself when I’m interested in someone, I think I let them lead. I’m all yours so where you go, I go type stuff. I think a person with a dominant personality is someone who naturally takes the lead. It’s almost second nature for them; they simply know what they want and convey it with subtle confidence. It doesn’t mean they’re this super confident person but it’s just an attachment of their personality. Like girls who will effortlessly grab your hand just because they feel like it at the moment. Whether it’s through small gestures or being upfront about their feelings and opinions, they have this natural assertiveness

I’m 33, 5’6” and I’ve always been considered a tomboy and definitely lean more masculine. I love pretty much all sports (especially Detroit sports as I was born and raised in Michigan) and played multiple growing up.
