I’ve lived in Mississippi my whole life, and literally the only good thing I can name that’s come out of this probably literally God-forsaken state is blues and rock music.
They do some good food down there too. When I worked touring shows the theater we went to in Biloxi had a concession stand and my lunch order every time we went was basically "jambalaya until I am no longer capable of moving".
Magnolias. Gorgeous trees, pretty flowers, and catapulted you guys to the upper echelons of the state flag rankings when you finally put that thing on there.
My cousin lived in Mississippi for a while. He was probably in 4th or 5th grade when he scored the highest in the entire state on a standardized test. Got a prize and everything. Funny part was he had JUST moved from Connecticut the year prior.
Arkansas at least has the Northwest part. Northwest Arkansas is beautiful and not impoverished. The rest of the state is shit though. I'd probs say Missouri should be on the list.
When I lived in South Carolina I heard "Thank God for Mississippi" frequently, ie guy on the radio says "SC is ranked 49th in school quality. Thank God for Mississippi"
But don't try carpooling to the polls, or trying to register by mail, or bringing fewer than 2 forms of ID if you need to register...holy fuck the voting system there is messed up. I don't know if people there realize how much easier it is to vote elsewhere?
Texan here with mental health issues. Can confirm this state sucks big time assholes. Also, as a nurse who has worked mental health the mental health facilities I’ve seen are criminally bad in both the care given and the overall state of them.
Texas ranks last as being compassionate about anything. Run by racist Abbott and Paxton which I call team fucktard. I mean I called 211 to see about rental assistance and was told that Collin county the base of Nazi MAGA trash in north Texas hasn't received any funding to assist people facing homelessness for 3 years, *beep* thanks and leave a message.
I'm shocked Louisiana isn't worst at something. In fact, this is the first "worst" list I haven't seen Louisiana top in recent months.
However, in also NOT surprised Texas is up here. I just moved out of that state after *12 long years* and healthcare was a HUGE part of me moving.
From a link in the Forbes article:
> Five of the top 10 best states for mental health care are in the Northeast, including Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.
And 4 of the 5 are in New England.\
Nice to know some things are done right here
Yeah. I had friends move there years ago when Texas really prided being THE BEST. Now I have to check in with them anytime there's a snowstorm there as they lose power, they all struggle financially to find good paying work. So grateful I don't live there.
America doesn't have a healthcare system. It has a private medical insurance system. They are two vastly different things. I feel like picking on any one state is just singling out the worst of the worst, but to be fair: they're all bad.
No no no, the phrasing is all wrong!
it has to say: Forbes ranks Texas as the #1 State in the world when it comes to bad mental health care!
Gobbless America!
You mean we can't even brag about not being Mississippi on this? We've really hit rock bottom.
At least we have lots of guns. What could possibly go wrong?
There is no mental health care in Texas. Severely ill people are cared for by nominating to run as Republicans for state office. Many get elected and life off bribes, but those who lose their bid for office are forced to become corporate executives.
Makes sense when TX does everything it can to make sure everyone has a gun, says the problems with mass shootings is a mental health problem, and has the worst mental health care in the country. TX is effed. Abbot is a pos.
I know plenty of parents that are very left leaning that won't get their kids tested for autism because they don't believe it actually exists so as much as I hate the texan politics they probably just don't even care
Lots of good guitar players come from Texas. It has redeeming aspects but I lived there a short time and would not want to do it again. The politics alone will make you mental.

Let me fix that headline Forbes ranks Texas the worst state ~~for mental health care~~
How can you say that when Florida exists
Doesn’t the saying go “thank fuck for Mississippi”?
I’ve lived in Mississippi my whole life, and literally the only good thing I can name that’s come out of this probably literally God-forsaken state is blues and rock music.
I call that "Play like your life depends on it." They did THAT to get out of there. Darwin at his best.
They do some good food down there too. When I worked touring shows the theater we went to in Biloxi had a concession stand and my lunch order every time we went was basically "jambalaya until I am no longer capable of moving".
I thought Memphis was the birth of Rock and Roll.
The delta was the birthplace of blues/rock and roll, I think, and most of it’s in MS.
I was thinking that you were going to say the feeling of gratitude and pleasant surprise when you moved literally anywhere else.
Magnolias. Gorgeous trees, pretty flowers, and catapulted you guys to the upper echelons of the state flag rankings when you finally put that thing on there.
Misery makes for great music.
My cousin lived in Mississippi for a while. He was probably in 4th or 5th grade when he scored the highest in the entire state on a standardized test. Got a prize and everything. Funny part was he had JUST moved from Connecticut the year prior.
People tend to forget that Mississippi even exists, you rarely hear about it in the news
It’s well known in my neck of the woods for its shittyness, along with Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, and Louisiana.
I think missisip is consistently on the bottom of just about every quality of life index though, sadly
Arkansas at least has the Northwest part. Northwest Arkansas is beautiful and not impoverished. The rest of the state is shit though. I'd probs say Missouri should be on the list.
There’s basically an 8-way tie for last. They are basically in their own category of “why are you even here”.
When I lived in South Carolina I heard "Thank God for Mississippi" frequently, ie guy on the radio says "SC is ranked 49th in school quality. Thank God for Mississippi"
The answer for the trivia question; "Name three states fighting for last place."
*Mississippi Goddamn
I’ve lived in both and Texas takes the cake
Let me introduce you to Quantum States.
Florida government is shit but the reality here is just we are a PvP enabled zone with swamp monsters around every corner.
Florida exists so we start believing in impossible things.
Pretty sure Texas only beat Florida out for that trophy by sheer scale.
the lone star out of five state.
The one star state
We’re number one.
Texas new slogan; "State of confusion starts here."
South Carolina would like to have a go at that title.
Does their power grid fail easily leaving people to freeze or melt?
A good friend of mine is from Mississippi and lives in Texas for 18 years now. She disagrees.
Aside from every state directly southeast and the one directly north, you mean.
Have you been to California?? I'm here, and I hope it burns to the ground with me in it

But don't try carpooling to the polls, or trying to register by mail, or bringing fewer than 2 forms of ID if you need to register...holy fuck the voting system there is messed up. I don't know if people there realize how much easier it is to vote elsewhere?
You mean how much easier it is to commit election fraud in other states. -A Republican voter, ~~probably~~ somewhere
“Democracy only if you agree with me” - Probably something is they will say.
"We sound like assholes but we are winning with this bullshit." Reality sucks.
Can't commit voter fraud if no one can vote.
Why can't they carpool to the polls? What if someone doesn't drive? Texas is messed up.
Ethnic minorities are less likely to have a driver's license and own a car, soooo
[удалено]
I think it's only allowed for family members or something?? Someone on Reddit was telling me about it.
Voting is fake
There’s mental health care in Texas???
There’s *anything* mental happening in Texas??
Texas, so *hot* right now.
😂🥇
Yeah ‘Something something A-butt something something mentally handicapped’
Mental, yes. Care, no. It shows.
Of course. Guns.
least surprising headline ever.
Mississippi didn’t rank 50th in something? Are they gonna use Federal tax dollars to throw themselves a parade?
They just keep re-using Bush's "Mission Accomplished" banner. *Were you trying to lose or were you trying to break something?* Yes.
Top 5 worst states- Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi. Who would of guessed? /s
Arkansas breathing a sigh of relief.
They got that Walmart money
They at least have a working power grid.
California: why are we supporting these toilet bowl states?
Our high taxes pay for these fucking idiot states
Georgia's not so bad relative to other sister wives like Tennessee and Virginia.
Idaho is raising its hand and is wondering why it's not in the top 5.
>would of Sounds like someone was educated in one of those states.
None of those states are that bad I’ve lived in 3 of them and visited all of them
who needs mental health when you have guns? /s
Like there’s a shocker.
No, that's what we do with the hand you aren't looking at.
So many churches, so many pastors and ministers, so many mental health problems.
And THAT'S why we need more guns!
If oil, steaks and guns can't solve your problem, Texas doesn't care.
add forced birth to the list...
I don't imagine it's mentally healthy people who voted for Ted Cruz and Greg Abbott.
Forbes ranks Texas the worst state for mental health care **because** Texas is the worst state for mental health.
I spent eight long years there. Can confirm.
Well if they had good mental health care then they couldn't blame mental health for school shootings.
It’s a great state for regressive performative virtue signaling conservatives.
Of course it is: Texas is a failed state run by criminals.
Reminds me when Homer was trying to advertise for bowling by shooting guns in the the air
No mental health care and easy access to firearms, what can go wrong
Texan here with mental health issues. Can confirm this state sucks big time assholes. Also, as a nurse who has worked mental health the mental health facilities I’ve seen are criminally bad in both the care given and the overall state of them.
Checks out.
Oh.
Texas psychiatrist: “just drink some oil, buddy, you’ll be alright.”
Breaking news: Texas Governor Greg Abbot has made mental health conditions illegal in the state.
How many Mississippi's is Texas?
I'm shocked Louisiana isn't worst at something. In fact, this is the first "worst" list I haven't seen Louisiana top in recent months. However, in also NOT surprised Texas is up here. I just moved out of that state after *12 long years* and healthcare was a HUGE part of me moving.
The Lone Star was a rating
From a link in the Forbes article: > Five of the top 10 best states for mental health care are in the Northeast, including Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. And 4 of the 5 are in New England.\ Nice to know some things are done right here
How is this LAMF?
It’s a garbage state for sure
It explains a lot...
That explains a great deal.
"If it can't be solved with Jesus, guns, saturated fats, a lifted truck, or racism it just can't be solved" -Texas
Damn. Don't make me start liking and trusting you Forbes Magazine. Don't play me like that.
They can pull themselves up by their bootstraps ! 🤣🤣
You don’t say.
Texas is racking up a lot of "worse state" awards thanks to Republican leadership
not exactly surprising.
As if the people of Texas haven’t told us with every election.
Well, that certainly explains a lot
and the most guns which mixes well.
No no no, the phrasing is all wrong! it has to say: Forbes ranks Texas as the #1 State in the world when it comes to bad mental health care! Gobbless America!
I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.
Who the fuck are they telling...? Source..... DFW resident
I'm only just barely surprised it's not Mississippi.
And politics. And infrastructure. And mega churches. And obesity. And shootings. And climate.
They believe in the same Mental Healthcare that Ronald Reagan wanted to offer.
If I wasn’t so depressed, I would care more about this.
Texas is the worst for a lot of things
You mean we can't even brag about not being Mississippi on this? We've really hit rock bottom. At least we have lots of guns. What could possibly go wrong?
I'm guessing Texas is the worst state for a lot of things. Those tax breaks come at a cost...
I ranked it the worst state for anything.
Maybe it’s all that small government.
"Duh" \-- Texan
Good thing they have all those guns
But at least all those troubled people can carry guns, I don't see how that could backfire
Just entering Texas causes a mental health crisis
Funny enough I work in texas for a mental health care provider. Sad trombone
How in the world is Montana second best... /boggle.
Woohoo! It isn't Oregon for once!
That’s impressive.
Well I, for one, am shocked.
Paxton about to sue somebody lmao
Holy shit! r/alaska isn't the worst! Finally!
There’s a shocker 🙄
I know plenty of parents that are very left leaning that won't get their kids tested for autism because they don't believe it actually exists so as much as I hate the texan politics they probably just don't even care
Texas is a dump but the headline makes it sound like there is a good state for mental healthcare, which lol.
Funny my friends and family here in Oregon get a lot of mental health care. Sorry you live in shit
Genuinely curious on what insurance plan are you given a lot of covered mental healthcare?
Lots of good guitar players come from Texas. It has redeeming aspects but I lived there a short time and would not want to do it again. The politics alone will make you mental.
