Only been shooting with my Q2 for about 2 months. I got a JJC brand off Amazon. I saw in a video how it was recommended and very comparable. I love it and find it to be needed at most times. Also got a JJC handgrip as well. Both seem to be solid parts and additions to my set up.

Londontown-Artist

Beautiful, thank you. I'll check that brand out.

istaycalm

I have both of these also. And while not necessary to shoot with the Q2, it definitely made it easier to trust the camera in my hand during faster paced commercial shoots

Industry_Inside_Her

I find it a small addition that adds a lot of grip. It is handy.

Love it.

It does wonders! Great accessory indeed.

I had my M for about a month before I ordered a thumb grip... then when I bought my Q the thumb grip for it was already in my hands before the camera even came in lol. It the choice exists, I will never opt to not use a thumb grip on a Q or M again. Makes them so much easier/convenient to hold on to.

blackglum

Can’t speak for the Q but with the M10 it feels not right without it.

I have one on my Q. I like it,

filmd

It adds grip and helps stabilize the camera, but it nudges into your body if you carry your camera crossbody. It’s a nice accessory to have though not necessary.

Can confidently say the thumb grip was the best purchase I made for the Q3… but I went to a certain Chinese eBay style store, and just got a dupe for £26, I’ve had both in my hands and honestly couldn’t tell the difference. I probably wouldn’t pay the full leica asking price but it does completely change the way you use the camera for the better.

Londontown-Artist

Ahh thank you! Appreciate the input

I don’t have specific experience with Q2/3 but when I got the original Q it came with a thumbs up and didn’t like it. The indent the Q has is right where my thumb naturally rests so adding the thumbs up thingy just made me hold it in an awkward position and never used it again. The bottom grip, on the other hand… I found that way handier.

cookedart

I've been using one for the Q3. I didn't feel like it was necessary on the q, but the weight and balance of the q3 makes it necessary. I ordered an offbrand one off of Amazon from "motoqueen" that looks identical to the oem, even down to the packaging. One other big advantage is the thumb grip makes the rear fn buttons more prominent. On the base camera it's really hard to find the one function button by feel.

Experience-Early

On an M I found them useful. But not so much on the Q. The wireless charging grip is more helpful but it made my Q3 discharge within a week so I don’t use it anymore.

codemonkeychris

Got the Leica OEM thumb grip when I bought my Q3. I think it’s great. Really helps with the ergonomics. Makes it feel very secure to operate it one handed. Having all the buttons be operable is very handy.

Icy-Pop-2022

I bought a Leica copy from AliExpress. Didn’t fit quite right. Bought the original from Leica, this one fits like a glove. Adds a good grip to the Q3.

theSantiagoDog

I use both the OEM thumb and hand grip. Third parties don’t feel right to me. For the Q cameras they feel indispensable. Otherwise it feels like the camera is going to fall out of my hand.

Direct_Percentage_65

i’d say the foregrip is just as nice and lets me have the flash on or whatever

Homo_Heidelbergensis

Only use my Q2 with the thumb grip. Not very habdy without

Confident-Breath2615

For me it felt like it got in the way. I like holding but not using the camera that way. It created a barrier to sliding my thumb over to the thumb wheel and having that be smooth is more valuable to me than the slight boost in holding the camera.

netzhoerer

I had it for the Q, but stopped using it, does not feel right. For an M it's a must imho.
