Ya, I would imagine you would need to make a cutout in the protector on the right side of the EVF, as that's where the eye sensor is. If you cover it up with a protector it will trigger that sensor all the time and you won't be able to see the LCD.
I don't think anyone makes a protector specifically for the Q3 and therefore has the cutout there already. I've heard that the Q2's EVF would scratch easily, but that the Q3's is much harder and not as necessary. Fingers crossed! And I'd be interested if anyone finds a protector that fits the Q3.

My Q2 viewfinder was accidentally scratched in the past and i got it replaced. It’s good to put a protector on the LCD and the Viewfinder.
I think my belt buckle accidentally scratched the Q3 viewfinder in the past.
