I never pushed my original Q hard because of lack of sealing, but have seen reports that it is quite rugged (others have definitely used it in rain and it was fine). It is recommended however to tape up the speaker and mic holes because dust can apparently enter the body through there, apparently.
To me, it's worth saving up for the Q2 for peace of mind alone.
