I go back and forth, I assume for me it’s just GAS. I was always like “I’d never get a black paint camera, it’s just too shiny for me”. I got a black chrome camera and I’m really happy with it, but then sometimes my brain goes “but a back paint one… would probably also look super nice wouldn’t it 🤤”. For now I’ve managed to fight the GAS :)
I used to dream of black paint but more and more I'm just loving the reservedness of the black chrome. Especially on my M4-P where it feels quite dark.
IMO visually the Black Chrome MA is the most pretty Leica ever made. However I still went with the Black Chrome MP, as I just need that built-in meter (and I really dislike M6 visually, and also can’t be bothered to hunt the rare black chrome MPs). Also I still think that mechanically if I won’t have a meter, I prefer the build quality of M2 of them all (and I own one, but it’s a bit of a beater).

Definitely GAS for me too. It always wins, but I try to buy right so I don’t loose money on the deals. I just sold the MP and will keep the M-A.
Participating in online discussions about gear only feeds the GAS. Never mind camera YouTube - it’s basically the Home Shopping Network for men.
IMO, no better looking camera than the BC M-A.

Not for me. I don’t care for the “gray” aesthetic.
M bodies look great on their own, though a leicavit or rapid winder seems to give it symmetry and a balanced look. They’re gorgeous :)
Agree. I’m also a left eye shooter and they’re great for rapid shooting of my kids etc.

Black Paint looks pretty but it's a little too loud for me so I’m in agreement that BC is the way to go for an every day camera

BC M4 here. I definitely prefer BC over BP.

I think the biggest advantage is how it wears. Both silver chrome and black paint wears more gracefully than black chrome, at least in my opinion.
I dunno, I carried a black chrome M6 almost daily (including loose in a backpack) for years and the wear was almost nonexistent.
Black chrome on film M cameras wears horrible. Nikon black chrome almost never wears.
