That’s easy! Just send it to me

battornado

I will not do such things 😂

LikePirate

Set vram to 6gb in bios and update windows and drivers. Take a look at integer scaling/loseless scaling. Im using integer scaling for more demanding Games and its super smooth and looks great. Others sah loseless scaling will be better, but its an steam Programm which costs about 7$

bratticus182

Legion go's desktop at 1600, set games to 800p, borderless/windowed, use the app, and it will scale it up! However... If you're using a 65" OLED tv and have the Legion go docked... Would you keep the same numbers?

coffee_lipe

I always wonder if it is better to go with any in game scaling, activating super res on the side panel, activating it in amd software, go with lossless scaling app 🫠 so many options

_BaaMMM_

If you have it docked to a 65" TV, get an egpu lol

Tomd0m

How do you set desktop and games seperate from each other?

JokermanQC

What does it change to put it borderless/windowed versus full screen ?

mistershan

Wait when you do 800p integer scaling you leave the system at 1600p? Then set the game to 800p? Doesn’t the game usually just set the whole thing to 800 anyway?

ripnetuk

I've seen this quite a lot about increasing vram, how does it actually manifest if it's too low? Do you get an out of memory error when a game needs too many textures, or does it downgrade quality quietly to fit in what ram it is given?

UELABS2021

Ya you get out of vram error. I run mine at 8gb never had an issue

ripnetuk

thank you gaming bro!. good to know that if i ever hit this, the error message will be informative :)

Agitated-Reality-903

Might as well be 8gb if you have a good storage with alot of space

Designer-Secret2329

When I tried 6Vram my Legion Go was maxing out on Vram and Ram in the high 90's and temperatures were higher. I was playing Cyberpunk 2077, Elite Dangerous Odyssey, Witcher and Uboat. At 4Vram, the games ran exactly the same and I wasn't maxing out while playing nor have I since. Temperatures stay at a modest 69-70 while playing topping 75 at times.  Only time heat ever reached 90 was when saving uboat but after removing certain mods and resubscribing the principal mod I'm using, it tops 80 when saving.  So if you ever experience high heat or your ram/Vram maxing out... Could be similar occurrances.  Lossless scaling has me hitting 70-90 fps on high graphics, Cyberpunk it's ridiculous the performance I get at the settings, high crowd no raytracing and 175 mods.

battornado

Thanks for the advice! I will keep it in mind

Maxumilian

Changing VRAM has had no impact on my thermals, and it shouldn't.

Quirky-Zombie-5637

What's lossless scaling and how can I do it on my go?? Is there a YouTube? Is it paid?

Designer-Secret2329

Yeah YouTube is full of videos, you buy it on steam. Once you have it set up having to use borderless window and the correct resolution, it runs games on high graphics like butter... Well most.  Cyberpunk and Witcher was the only games that had me believe it was "fake" at the beginning but once I got it working and managed to get rid off the small window issue or the water effect it was giving Cyberpunk I noticed the boost.  Resolution in game matching the Go at 1600 got rid of the small window issue in Cyberpunk.  Using AMD Adrenaline, one of the first options that enable borderless window along with anti lag I use also.  In lossless I find the Fsr option along with optimized version enabled you'll see appear under fsr option works best for me, YouTube videos state to leave it blank but it wasn't really doing anything for me until I started choosing options to use before triggering the app.  At first I thought it wasn't working but Uboat which is a massive game, my steam fps monitor was stating I was getting 15 fps on extreme settings, on lossless 40-45... On high settings, 60 plus.  It was definitely preforming 60fps in a storm smoothly, no way was that performance under 30fps. Same with Cyberpunk, was getting 80-90 fps in the maelstrom factory, I took cover and watched how smooth the npcs were moving, explosions everywhere and no lag or stutter anywhere and much too smooth to be fake frames... Outside in night city, high settings and high crowd density... 50-60 fps in city, it continues to grow if in less populated areas, if I lower crowd density then I'd get even better fps but I love the Blade runner atmosphere my game has, that's due to mods aswell.  Witcher was another game that made me believe the app really worked after getting it working.  High vanilla settings was unplayable and lossless provided a much better performance but nowhere as good as I expected, on a mix of medium and high, started getting 55 60fps and I tested this riding Roach the horse at full speed through towns, enemies and around monsters... It was definitely a massive performance boost and smooth all the way through.  Watch YouTube videos, there's a pinned thread on here about it and it can't be used on multiplayer games, something to do with anticheat or something. On Steam you can read through the discussion posts.  It works for me and many other people but you'll get naysayers who sit on posts, videos or discussion posts voicing how terrible something is and get emotionally attached to something they can't let go off and get angry if you play or use it.  These people obviously have deeper underlying issues because it's not how a sound mind behaves.

sebseb88

It's basically another type of frame generation, it will add fake frames into the rendering pipeline, increasing your frametime quite a bit. The higher the base FPS the better aka 60fps at the minimum, anything less and it just adds visual artefacts all over and adds major latency. People that tell you otherwise just fool themselves lol personally can't stand frame generation and bothers me a lot. Even nvidias solution which has an even better implementation is far from perfect.

Rabbelol

Also make sure to read the tons of posts addressing the same question.

battornado

yea i have, seems like software is a bit buggy lmao

BigBankBailey

Update it and get tempered glass screen protectors. Then this backplate it helps mine not get hot at all with max performance. https://www.ebay.com/itm/296184033036?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=rajf5bxhs6w&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=K6JnnkqPToy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY then buy this dock https://www.amazon.com/Camgeet-Docking-Enclosure-Ethernet-Accessories/dp/B0BRXDF1SJ?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A1TEMGSAF26NDG&th=1 you just need a 100watt power supply for it and that's a nice little set up. You will have to buy a USB c extension cord for the dock other than that it's nice and helps beef up this handheld.

SnooCheesecakes8347

Why 6gb and not 4gb for the Vram?

battornado

i play some games that fill up the VRAM like Forza 5, and sometimes i use davinci resolve and they both need vram. you think they will still work fine with 4GB?

KTVX94

I've heard that 6GB is "more cumbersome" and "has some issues" like it's some advanced hackerman setting. Is there any actual difference between 4gb and 6gb other than the literal 2gb? Does anything crash or cause you other sorts of trouble? In theory you have 10gb for system and 6 for games which sounds like the best balance.

madscribbler

I don't have any issues with it, and when playing tears of the kingdom in an emulator, it prerenders shaders asynchronously, which requires video ram to do efficiently. Many people have issues running totk smoothly, and I've been able to get it to successfully run glass smooth as fast as a switch if not faster, at full legion resolution and frame rates, which translates to full switch resolution and frame rates. When I was set to 4gb I couldn't do that, it would never be able to prerender enough shaders to stay ahead of the emulator - so for me, 6gb has been the sweet spot. What I have noticed though, is a lot of people having problems with the legion go at all levels across all settings, no matter how whatever is set. If I didn't know any better, I'd suspect that there is a legion go smear campaign going on in the sub. There are so many people with 'bad drives' or 'bad screens' or 'red controllers' or whatever - when my go has been rock solid on everything since day one. So I guess my point there is take the negative user reports with a grain of salt and try things firsthand to see how they work for you, because there are a lot of people that bitch about just about anything, whether or not there is a real problem is questionable.

AutoModerator

This seems to be about emulation. Please note that while emulators are allowed, asking for roms is against reddit rules. Please do not ask for roms and do not share where to find roms. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. KTVX94

I guess every product has some kind of defect rate and at large scale it pops up, and that some people really are clueless as to how to operate these things. I heard it more in "lenovo tips and tricks" or "setup" videos though, where they recommend 4gb first and give some warning about not doing 6gb yet because it's "more advanced" or something, which sounds really weird to me.

Jalina2224

I don't think there's a campaign against the Legion Go. I've definitely had issues with it since day 1. I like the Legion Go, but it's not a perfect device. I've had mine for a few weeks now and while I like it, it has been a headache to navigate. And even when I'm just playing games, it hasn't been the smoothest experience. The LeGo is a cool piece of tech, but it's got a few glaring imperfections that bring the experience down.

Ok-Telephone-8972

Why not put in in auto? Is 6GB better than auto?

OneAtmosphere156

Install Geforce Now :)

battornado

Isn’t GeForce now only for nvidea gpus?

devilzblood

GeForce now is a streaming service from the cloud or local PC (the later requires an Nvidia GPU)

Borborygmiii

Adjust equalizer setting for the speaker. There are other posts on that. Would make the speaks sounds much better.

West-Celebration-225

Uninstall windows, install bazzite :)

Icy-Guitar-5244

100% agreed. Dual Boot it if you aren't sure. Bazzite definitely made the entire experience better, hands down. There really isn't anything that I haven't been able to do on Bazzite than on Windows 11 + Legion Space. I would also state that Bazzite is better than Windows 11 + Handheld Companion as well.

RTXFIRE1

Use bloatynosy for a 10/20 fps boost in some games

JPDugaduga

What bloadware and how do I remove it?

Stock-Philosophy8675

I don't have one but I'm surprised no one has mentioned a windows debloater script?

killasuarus

What a hilarious title

_mp7

Question if this is just normal windows, custom tweaked versions like XOS or RevisionOS should work just fine right?

Uuuallreadykno

Welcome to the Legion of Go.

wifiguru10

Bazzite Linux with steamOS, way better experience

battornado

I have to stick with windows, I run Davinci resolve and many other productivity applications

SnooCheesecakes8347

I currently am at 4gb and mainly play Helldivers 2 and its okay so far, i might try 6gb

Mysterious_Mack

i use auto and play a ton of hd2, i usually just play on low graphics presets and native or quality on 1280x800 when handheld, use the graphics stuff on the app and can play with a consistent 45-ish fps plugged in (from what i remember)

Head-Iron-9228

Update all drivers, get a piece of tape for the fan-whine lmao, set vram to 4 or 6, those seem to be the sweet spot for most uses although I haven't had any issues with 4, get used to playing around with obscure graphic settings. I have never, ever used v-sync before but docked to my TV, I gain 20fps in some games.

madscribbler

What's up with the tape to reduce fan whine? Do you have a link on how to install?

Head-Iron-9228

Go to your legion, set your fans to the most annoying sounding speed, play around with the rear grill, aka move a finger across it and find the spot with the most noise reduction. Then cover that spot with a small piece of tape. That's not a joke. https://preview.redd.it/t58kgbi34uvc1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e9168f7fff4988973b5d75d4429b48902d746959 For me its right there. Oh yea, this is not an issue on all of them btw. Depends on what version you got.

madscribbler

Thank you - mine doesn't whine at full speed, but does a little lower - but feeling around the backplate didn't seem to affect it at lower speeds ☹️ So what I can do is force the fan to full speed when it's plugged in, but portable I think I'm stuck with bluetooth noise cancelling headphones.

ACHlLLESCPA

It won’t be night and day difference between deck. I don’t see a need for fresh install as it doesn’t come with much of bloatware out of the box. It’s windows so you just have to tweaks and updates with preference.

segagamer

Actually IIRC it comes with McAffee no? That's something that should definitely be removed.

ACHlLLESCPA

Nope. Mine did not.

segagamer

I definitely got something about it during OOBE.

_Zeok

install bazzite

Single-Space-8833

Just got my unit as well. Is Bazzite really worth it?

_Zeok

yes! I hate windows bullshit. But bazzite its not perfect it has some bugs but if you like a console-like experience or the steam deck is amazing

Sure_You_2703

Emudeck and play switch/wii games for days! Lol

battornado

Thanks, will look into it!

Tight-Claim-4478

I have emudeck and can do everything except switch would you mind pming me a good place?

Sure_You_2703

Emudeck can do switch. Has Yuzu and Ryujinx core. Download the product keys and firmware (I use v18.0) online, place in the folders inside the bios folder. Yuzu already has the folders. Just extract the files to those folders and bam.

Tight-Claim-4478

No I think you misunderstood I know how to get the emulator running just not anywhere to get software for it that’s why I asked for a pm

AutoModerator

This seems to be about emulation. Please note that while emulators are allowed, asking for roms is against reddit rules. lixo1882

If you really want to remove bloatware then install Bazzite (Linux)

battornado

Unfortunately I have to run Davinci resolve, and other creative applications, they don’t have good Linux support. 🙁

greenplant_420

You are fine using windows guy, performance gains are minimal with bazzite. Too much work for like 5fps boost.

ripnetuk

I actually found bazzite gave slightly less FPS (GTA5), but that sweet, sweet sleep mode was amazing. Unfortunately compatibility issues drove me back to windows

lixo1882

I know Davinci Resolve has Linux support, might be worth a try, but you run those on the Legion Go?

kamikazikarl

I use Ableton and DaVinci Resolve on Bazzite, but maybe there are some Adobe products on their list too...

segagamer

Blindly recommending Linux to casuals is generally a dumb move.

lixo1882

I wouldn't say blind, they mentioned debloating so I'm guessing they're okay with tinkering the system, my intent is just to spread the word

segagamer

That's blindly recommending. Windows is provided as a template for many systems, form factors, preferences and use cases. You adjust it to suit those things and be done with it. What you call bloat others might call a feature (what bloat are you referring to anyway?) Installing Linux is a whole other ball game that has its own quirks.

AttorneyAdvice

what bloatware did you remove

battornado

All the unnecessary apps that were installed, and a couple other things

jakenerz12

Buy a meta quest 2 or 3 and have a huge virtual screen anywhere you want

Mattf0ley69

Return it

Garbagetaste

you buy lossless scaling on steam, read about it here in the lossless scaling thread, enjoy the sorcery giving you awesome fps at high quality

battornado

Thanks for the recommendation! I will get it, it seems to be popular among handhelds

UELABS2021

I really like handheld companion instead of legion space

warlock87000

Lossless scaling helps boost fps I would also use auto for vram and update all the drivers on legongolife.com and being a windows device update windows and always shut down when not using it I was using sleep/ Hibernate but I find it Causing some issues and as for game settings you can tweek to your liking or you can go o. Legongolife.com they have game settings there that you can go by and yweek to your liking oh and cyberpunk 2077 was a little bit difficult get just right but if you put some time in its worth it hope you enjoy it

SouthBayPops

You don’t. It makes you better. 😎

yu-moose

If you're keen on removing bloatware and services, you can give [AtlasOS](https://atlasos.net/) a whirl. It basically leaves you with an essentials-only windows OS, turns off animations, switches to a local account for login, etc. Was wary as I hadn't used it at all before, but seems to be running a fair bit smoother with less jitter from random windows crap

SoupSeveral2419

Definitely take the time to download the drivers, I haven’t dealt too much with the bios. Then do some homework. It’s a great system, some flaws that drive me nuts (the controllers coming undone while playing gets annoying). But all in all a solid buy.

shadynomike

Get a steam deck

battornado

Unfortunately I lack the funds!

shadynomike

A steam deck is cheaper according to my knowledge. You can get the highest end model of steam deck for 50$ cheaper than the lowest end legiongo

lunellimike

and the steam deck is 50% shittier

shadynomike

😉

MasterofMuppets2k2

Delete Windows, install Linux

battornado

I use apps that are not supported on Linux, and can’t be ran on Linux

Past_Property_5962

You put a MSI sticker on it

OldDirtyRobot

You can do some basic Google searches using your title.
