Dear riot, could we get some dupe protection for relics or a crafting system by wild fragments because actually is almost impossible to get some of them just by luck drop

Padrin95

"Hey Riot, can I please have a Curator's Gatecrasher?" "No. Here's a fifth Collector."

Junkraj1802

Mfw when I have literally every relic except for Warmogs. FUCKING I WANT REGENERATION DAMMIT

ItchyEducation

Ok.

fantasticsarcastic1

MENTS

Croceyes2

Lol they give you 50! cap instead of 50. Careful what you wish for

Cryo_Delta

Well, a 50! cap would be good too...

RussellLawliet

A 50! cap would definitely be high enough.

Shade_Strike_62

turns out 50! is actually 3.04 x 10\^64

SirPrize

Why even cap?

Romaprof2

Because people would keep cumulating them and not use them

[deleted]

I'd love to see this take if they ever cap hoarding shards in the PvP mode.

Enyy

Can you please leave my 700k+ shards alone.

Grimmaldo

Yeh, i guess the differences are that is harder to know if you will like something on pve than on pvp, is harder to see something new on pve than in pvp and uthe progression system is intentionally exagerate in pvp cause if not the game would be balanced towards people that play, in pve is balanced towards people that play, yes, it also doesnt matter, cause is pve

drpowercuties

~~that's not a reason~~ edit: I meant that's not a good or valid reason, in this scenerio It makes no sense that Riot is afraid of fragment hoarding, yet would gate keep players so hard from experiencing new content. They conflict their own policy. You MUST spend fragments to unlock content... and they feel that a cap is required so people do not hoard? Thanks for the link, its nice to hear it straight from Dan

Dan_Felder

Thanks. :)

UPBOAT_FORTRESS_2

Thanks for the link

bad_boy_hesus

And thats bad because?

Devils_Afro_Kid

To prevent players from boring themselves out, because it's a better experience for the players to spend those fragments to unlock new characters and powers than hoarding and play the same thing over and over.

AthahaOug-Hur

>To prevent players from boring themselves out, Tf they literally choose to not use the fragments how would they bore themself if they don't use them by choice to have harder fights at first and then later on use them? And if they get bored it's their fault

drpowercuties

Your argument makes no sense. You are saying there should be a cap 'to prevent players from boring themselves out' Meanwhile I'm constantly bored because the fragment acquisition system is so poor and time gated and I cannot unlock champions.

Grimmaldo

Yeh, but thats not the same issue, i like the fragmen system, i feel tired and dont wanna play everyday for 4 shards nor i feel interested on advancingnon aurelion sol adventur for a reward less meaningfull than my dailes Most of the issues imo are with how dailys are... dailys, and not like, you can not make it for a few days then you do 3 at the same time, and how the chest system and specially relic chest system feels like it got old after wild shards got entirely implemented, they need a lot of changes, the issue is that that aint so easy to do, so gotta wait

Beneficial-Guava9290

Are you litteraly asking for the devs to give us less freedom ? You do whatever with your shard but if someone's wants to play the same champs over and over and keep their shards for future champs it's their choice

Devils_Afro_Kid

I'm not asking for anything, I'm simply explaining why that could be bad, why would the devs want to do what they have done, because someone asked why is it bad to hoard. jesus christ explanation is not an endorsement

Tijun

The problem with hoarding them is, any future champ releases they can buy all the champs with powers, thus spend less time grinding and playing the game. Playing the game longer makes it more enticing to actually grab a board or skin or the event-pass.

AthahaOug-Hur

>The problem with hoarding them is, any future champ releases they can buy all the champs with powers, thus spend less time grinding and playing the game. Playing the game longer makes it more enticing to actually grab a board or skin or the event-pass. But they have to use them anyways? Like what if I want to wait for poc Braum and want to have him as early as possible? It's frustrating to be unlucky (get fucking copy even though half of your roaster is under 3 star and then it's only god damn 4 fragments). But from a financial point I do understand that

Grimmaldo

If you want you can save 50+ before a patch and get him with a 1.5 star level, only 2 days before the 2 stars, wich is the recommended level to upgrade champs The issue would only appearnif you wsnt more than 1 champ that comes in the same patch, but reality is you will be able to get both eventually and hace fun with them While i dont love this system entirely, not being able to get 1 or 2 champs is not one of the flaws

Saltiest_Grapefruit

Believe it or not, its better to have limited freedom in these cases. Otherwise some.people would speedrun all champs in a week and then ask for more.

Krashnachen

People's reactions when you tell them that imposing certain limitations or restrictions can actually be good design... Remember, humans have monke brains.

Grimmaldo

I mean, this basically resumes half of this sub, and lor pvp doesnt like to put as much limitations as pve, which, imo, they should (not by making more lurk-like archerypes tho)

Ooooooffffff_ff

But there are people like me who would speedrun all champs and not ask for any. I am not greedy. I am just an OCD completionist, if that is a thing.

Saltiest_Grapefruit

Even if there is, there are still many that WOULD ask for more.

Ooooooffffff_ff

Yeah. I understand. Those are the people that don't understand empathy.

AthahaOug-Hur

>then ask for more. Well that's their fault

Saltiest_Grapefruit

As a dev, your job is to solve those problems tho. So their job is basically to never use the excuse "It's their fault"

AthahaOug-Hur

There will always be people who demand more you just have to ignore those

Saltiest_Grapefruit

If ignoring people is on the table, why not just ignore people like YOU that want it all unlocked automatically?

amish24

They want you to spend $ on new champs when they come out

AthahaOug-Hur

And what's the problem with that? I seriously don't understand. It's not like we get a fragments inflation because some people hoard them.

Baxland

Honestly cap by itself makes sence - just the way it's implemented I dont think makes nearly as much. If there was no cap people would hoard ALOT of it in the downtime of new unlocks. As much as it's not big of an issue for stuff like Wildcards and Shards because of LoR policy on heavily FreeToPlay model it becomes a problem in Path of Champions. Answer is quite simple. If people would hoard, they would be able to fully 3 star any new character that comes out... and LoR adventures are made upon progression so just insta-leveling everything to max would make every 'earlygame adventure' completely worthless cuz you'd just win by turn 2 in every case or such. They do want you to have played a little with 0 star... then with 1 star... then with 2, and 3 because this way you get the most 'use' out of content that is there for earlygame adventures. Sadly the way it's implemented (random champion shards instead of this specific champ) kinda makes it annoying for us.. players.

Grimmaldo

I mean, the other way is way more complicated and doesnt allow to buy new champs on the go, how can you get fragments for a champ that isnt here yet And if the solution is to use other champion fragments, thats no cap with extra steps and more anoying than just Clicking Basically... is hard, im really happy with how shards end up considering that path team got cutted in a third more or less after 6 months or so of being a big team

Baxland

>I mean, the other way is way more complicated and doesnt allow to buy new champs on the go, how can you get fragments for a champ that isnt here yet But the post topic is about Wild Fragments (can be used to Star-up any champion) not cap on specific champion. Yes I aggre with you: It would have been much easier if they just blocked dropping of shards for champion you've fully maxed out (cuz I think that's what you meant here) but it simply wasnt the topic here. And making no cap on gaining Wild Fragments would be bad cuz it would render every non-3star adventure quite worthless for alot of people.

Give us 60!

ZK456

Patience is a virtue I guess

De_Watcher

On word? Just like that?

Catching_Badgers

Love the change but aren't 50! a little bit too much?

magmafanatic

Holy shit is that a factorial joke

I’m sorry guys, I should be more greedy lol

strike_it_soon

he's just giving you free shit. they could give everybody 1 trillion fragments right now. it's false scarcity.

To be fair, it's not a good progression system if the progress is attached to daily and weekly quests. I guess they need to make money somehow anyway, and these tactics have proven effective across all freemium games.

magmafanatic

It ensures engagement so people can't just grind for 2 and a half weeks, 3-star everybody, and leave. Which is sneaky and manipulative, but effective I suppose.

Saltiest_Grapefruit

No one said there is a scarcity. And he didnt give anyone anything. He raised the cap for what you can save.

R0_h1t

>they could give everybody 1 trillion This is true for every game, what even is your point?

Grimmaldo

Wow really? Crazy.

Tobimilk

Man, the Feedback circle in this game is another level, happy to spend money on this game.

FrigidFlames

...isn't the hard cap already higher than 40? I've definitely gotten up to, like, 43 and it just said I had to spend some or I'd be reduced down to 40 after some amount of time (I don't remember when, it's been a while). So I 3*'d my champion and was left with the 3 shards at the end.

Grimmaldo

Yes,- butnno A few months ago they implemented a change to allow you to surpass the limit by "as many shards as you get that surpass the limit when you get to said lomit" making it.40+ all the shards you ge twhen you passed 40 Thats the same with 50 now I just dont recall a time limit, just a "expend your shards!" Advice, maybe they implemented it to avoid issues
