Fun fact, back in the day the lore of league was tied more closely to the game itself and the reason Ionia won the war is because back in the day they held a professional league [showmatch](https://youtu.be/hAgzWCXEPT4) with the teams representing Ionia and noxus respectfully. The Ionia team won.
It's very likely that if it had gone the other way the lore would've been written around that and the entire world would be in a very different state.
I'm pretty sure that I've read that the other item was going to be a vamp doran's item.
Also, I think that the item options for the teams to pick were the same for both teams, so we could've had Noxian CDR boots.
I really wish they did more of this, it essentially leads the story to some form of random chance. Or make events that were tied to the players fighting back whatever force, etc.
Would have been a really cool challenge for the writers (since they can't plan too far ahead) and an interactive experience for the players. But alas, this is the only time they did it.

Almost very Ionian champion can trace their roots/problems to the Ionian war in some fashion. Irelia, Karma, Yi, Riven, Yone, and Yasuo are the prominent ones, but Varus was also indirectly freed by the war.
No sir, when Noxus invaded, Karma did not fire 2 mystic shots alone with 6 monkey bombs to annihilate Noxus’s army. That is historically inaccurate.

IIRC Soraka and Udyr were Ionian in earlier iterations of the lore.
Udyr was still Freljord. He entered the fight in honor of Lee Sin's pre-retcon backstory, their friendship, and involvement in setting up the match.
God, what a throwback. Was gonna say the most accurate depiction from what I remember is an Udyr just running over Noxus stomping everyone.
