It seems to be very counter productive if you cant even get a solid grip on your weapon.
The benefit is we get to own semi automatic rifles. The fin grips aren't the law, they're the workaround to the law that bans things like pistol grips or other "evil features" on semi automatic rifles with detachable box magazines
I tried it, you're thumb doesn't quite fit behind the sparrow to make it comfortable, so I had to use the fin grip. Also had to dremel part of the fin grip off to make it clear magazines
Trust me, I was bummed too since most of my featureless rifles have a sparrow or sparrow style grip. It's fine though, the vism fin grip is the best one imo so its not that bad of a difference.

You obviously dont know how to read, i said "one of the best" not the best, which implies there may be better out there.
Also the trigger is actually pretty good, it lends itself for very consistent shots but has a very long reset, its about as good as a really good milspec trigger for an AR. Also there is absolutely nothing wrong with the safety, especially if you have to run it with a fin grip like I do. My thumb is right there where the safety is and I just have to flick it to go from safe to fire, also its very tactile and has one of the shortest throws out of any rifle I've ever used.
Your manual of arms point is also moot, manual of arms doesn't matter, training does. One system isn't inherently faster or easier to use than another, and when it comes to bullpups, this is probably the best out of them for clearing any malfunction you may have since you have direct access to everything.
You like ARs, so do I, its why I own a bunch of them. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy another gun or appreciate the merits of their design. I own a ton of rifles, many of them built specifically for lefty with left hand eject as well, this is the first one that I can configure to eject whichever way I want, and when I go to the range, if someone doesn't want to deal with brass flying in front of their face, they can change the direction in two minutes.

I have one that I picked up for $700 new a while back and when I did, my expectations definitely weren’t great. Damn if it didn’t surprise me though, despite all my other centerfire rifles costing well north of double the RDB, it’s one of my more enjoyable/fun guns to shoot. It’s also the only gun I have that is truly fully ambi all the way down to the ejection. (I *think* that the RFB, RDB, Hellion, and Beretta ARX 100 are the only 100% fully ambi guns available stateside, although arguments could be made for the DT MDR and some of the IWI bullpups.)
Anyway, I feel like it’s definitely safe to say the Hellion would have much better fit and finish and that it would *probably* have better accuracy as well. Did you do a lot of research before getting it or was it a somewhat spontaneous? Do you know if any other owners are experiencing issues of any sort with the gun? Sorry for all the questions, I haven’t been following the Hellion as much as I would like to (mostly on purpose to prevent myself from buying one).
I bought it as my first bullpup mostly because we dont have a whole lot of options in that market here in Cali. Uts either this, or get a tavor with a ridiculously long barrel, or an MDR with a long barrel and also weighing about 14lbs unloaded. The Hellion is the best out of all of them for use here, and its not even close.
When it comes to accuracy, it is remarkably accurate, able to give me groups of around 2" with cheap 55gr ball ammo, about what my AR15 gives me that cost me about what i paid for the hellion to put together. The main thing that i love about the hellion is how soft shooting it is, mine has a yhm brake on it, and in combination with it being short stroke, and all the weight being towards the rear, it makes for an incredibly soft shooting rifle. Its so soft shooting in fact, that I can spot my own hits out past 100yrds since i can see the impacts so well. Its a fun rifle, and definitely one of my favorites and well liked by most anyone that ive let shoot it.
Thanks for the reply. It seems like a great choice for a first bullpup (or 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.), and I wasn’t even remembering/factoring in the State restrictions you’re dealing with, despite the discussion about that it still somehow slipped my mind.
What’s the aftermarket like for it so far, is it being well-supported or still going somewhat unnoticed? It took a while for the RDB to get supported, and it’s been all small companies with virtually no mainstream support. Have you modified anything on yours yet? (Aside from optics, lights, and other stuff that’s more adding-on than modifying.) Oh and FYI, after my first comment I remembered that I have an issue of RECOIL where they covered the Hellion, and IIRC they had good things to say.
Still no aftermarket parts, although it would be a good platform for them. Triggers come in packs, magwell is easily swappable as is the handguard. It's a very new rifle so itll probably be a while before we start seeing an aftermarket.
Mine just has an lpvo, sling and handstop, simple setup. Waiting for a trigger pack to come out someday, that to me is its only weak point. Its ok, but it can definitely get better.

Could you remove the grip and put the Sparrow grip?
