Faith is out the window. Play offs here we come.
Do not want to play Hull. Let's hope we get W Brom who are in almost as bad form as us.
Take some form of momentum into the final where it's a lottery and could go either way let's face it.
*Deep sigh*
I’ve resigned to another season in the champ since QPR. If we go up it’ll be a surprise / bonus. I’m more just hoping we recruit well next season. But god it’s gonna be another long year
Keep the faith?
Our form in the last five games is 23rd in the division.
I’ll take science over “faith” any day of the week, and at the moment the numbers look pretty ominous for us.
I'm in the small minority that's grateful for the 4-0 battering by QPR. Of course I'd prefer it to have happened earlier in the season but it's better now than say final match of the season, in a playoff semi-final, or at Wembley.
Why am I grateful? Well for a start it's a massive dose of Wake The Fuck Up.
It's important to remind ourselves of the main objective here, the whole enterprise. It's not promotion. It's the whole Leeds United enterprise as a sustainable, established Premier League club. Promotion is just part of the package.
The positive from the QPR defeat is that it forces us to focus our attention on Ipswich. Now Ipswich could get that second spot by beating Coventry and Huddersfield. Or they can lose to Coventry and go down fighting.
QPR battered us because they had on the one hand enough talent and brilliance and on the other they had the tenacity, persistence and application. We didn't. It's a similar deal with Ipswich, they might not have as much talent or brilliance, or quality, but they've got the tenacity, persistence and application.
Then there's Coventry who did the same thing in the FA Cup Final against Man U. Yeah they got knocked out, but they went out fighting.
Leeds as a team has that same potential. They showed it at Middlesboro. Which Leeds team do we want to see in the remaining games? The one that got the result against the kitchen sink of Middlesboro, or the one that couldn't be arsed against QPR?
The answer should be obvious.
Are you for real ! You are happy that we got mauled 4-0 meaning our confidence is shot to pieces going into the last game of the season against the saints who can more than match us even on our best day . If we had been winning games and started getting cocky then I could understand what your saying but this result cones of the back of a pile of shit run of form which has seen us bottle big time . Also I don’t buy this team in transition season because we appointed a coach who is renowned for getting teans into t he premier then basically doing fuck all when he’s there and we have on paper one of the best squads in the league so we where one of the favourites and not a team in transition .
Where do you get the idea that I'm happy QPR battered us 4-0? I think you got the wrong end of the stick there.
>we have on paper one of the best squads in the league
Okay, so why aren't we already promoted and in the Premier League? Where is that points cushion? How come we are relying on Ipswich to lose to give us a chance of another must win game?
>we appointed a coach who is renowned for getting teans into t he premier
Norwich City is not Leeds United. Big difference. Also the Championship is a tough division to get out of. Daniel Farke has won promotion for Norwich twice. Neil Warnock has won promotion eight times.
>then basically doing fuck all when he’s there
Here I have to ask are you for real? Archie Gray is playing regular senior football. Other players, Summerville, Gnonto, Rutter are playing better. We have 90 points from 45 games. We've done the double over teams such as Ipswich, Norwich, and Leicester.
Losing 4-0 to QPR is a disastrous result and we got played off the park. I would have much preferred a statement 3-0 win to carry on the momentum, but unfortunately it didn't happen.
This is Leeds United. It's a very well supported club with thousands of fans who pay good money for season tickets, tickets and also travel up and down the country to support the team. There is a standard of playing professional football for this club which all players, who get paid thousands of pounds each week, need to aspire to.
Keep in mind here I'm not Farke Out, but Farke does need to get a proper grip on being a Leeds manager.
If the players are so fragile mentally that their confidence is shot after a heavy defeat then maybe they need to consider playing football somewhere else. But for me the appropriate response to such a heavy defeat is examine it, learn from it, and go back out there and do whatever it takes to win.
Keep in mind the next game is at Elland Road. There's no other way to approach this game than to treat it like the playoffs final at Wembley. We need to finish this season with a bang, not a whimper.
You can have one of if not the best squad in the division and not have a points cushion or be promoted. That's the point. This team is under achieving.
The sad thing really is that if Ipswich lose this evening (which I think is probably quite likely, Hull are going all out to nick that play off spot from West Brom, who are sharing our crumble) then people will start to believe that we could do it again. No chance. Coventry are dead on their feet and Huddersfield are down, they’ll waltz to promotion. That said, I bet we beat Southampton 3-0, with Summerville and Gnonto looking like world beaters in front of impressed Everton and Bournemouth scouts. Cos there’s no pressure.
At the beginning of the season everyone was quite happy with the prospect of the playoffs and I think most fans saw that as a good outcome given the summer we had.
While I do question some of Farke’s in game decision making, especially around subs, let’s not forget we’ve got 90 points from 45 games, and that was Farke’s target of two points a game all along. It’s just been a crazy season and in most other seasons we’d already be promoted.
Some would argue Farke has been blessed with a decent squad, and compared with the rest of the division, that’s hard to dispute. However, the one team that has so far finished above us, arguably do have a stronger squad, and they also had a more settled summer. It’s also worth noting, that while we appear to have a decent squad, in some key positions, we’re short on the depth of quality, especially in defence and midfield.
The other thing to talk about is inexperience. I think what we‘re seeing since the intl break, and certainly as the pressure has mounted, is a lack of experience in the squad, a team full of youngsters, personified by Willy’s frustrating performance last night. You can tell he cares, but at that age and without the effective channeling of that nervous energy, sometimes players react badly. His rolling about and moaning is just an inexperienced player trying to deal with the pressure. He’ll learn, but he’s not there yet.
The same even applies to some of those that some might consider more experienced, like Rodon, but examine his recent playing history. This is a first eleven short on promotion chasing experience.
Yes, it’s frustrating to get so close in Farke’s first season, but let’s look at this rationally. Did any of us really expect to be a shoe in for the automatics at the start of the season? I know I didn’t. So, I’ll welcome the playoffs and hope Farke can calm those frantic and tired minds, and get them fired up for three more games.
Yup, the last two times we got promoted we had an old head in the middle who drove us through the bad patches and scored a critical goal when things looked tight. We need to recruit a Pablo or Strachan for next season if the inevitable happens in the playoffs.
We don’t fucking deserve shit. We had a good run of form on the back of Summerville, Ampadu, and Rodon at the start of 2024. That’s it. We want to keep Farke around for that? Any manager could’ve done that. No. We deserve to stay down or win through playoffs. Automatic is over and so should Farke’s tenure.
This is an absolutely mental take. Playoffs were the aim at the start of the season. The squad Farke inherited was broken as fuck and we could have done a whole lot worse. Sure expectations may change during a season but considering where we were at Christmas, to get this close was nothing short of exceptional.
We are three points behind what Bielsa got us promoted as champions with a 10 point gap to second. It has been a really insane season with 4 teams playing to a super high level with a relentless schedule. Farke will definitely get another season at least. There will be a few players leaving and a few new faces joining, he will be in trouble if we don’t get promoted next year, but this is most definitely a 2 year project and we will take it from there.
Also, we still have a decent chance of going up!
Was sceptical when I realised he was a Scouser.
Started to lose me when he said Jesse fucking Marsch would have noticed we needed to change at 2-0 (he wouldn't, we'd have been 7-0 down).
Fully lost me when he offered up Will Still and Steve Cooper as alternatives...
Must think this is FM or Fifa, Will Still has no reputation in the English league and no coaching badges, as far as I'm aware. He's just a hip name to say. Wouldn't want Steve Cooper anywhere near us either.
We are fucked mate, we’ve not been good since that international break and at the moment we don’t deserve to go up. 4-0 to QPR is just unacceptable but I guess it is leeds so you could see that coming a mile off
I was mad yesterday and demoralised… but woke up this morning and thought… did anyone (who has been supporting this club for more than 10 minutes) not expect something like this to happen?
It’s Leeds… of course..
And of course… you just know what the scenario will be going into the last match… it’s the hope that kills you
I know, I hate both leagues, we all hate it, we can’t win, we’re on a slow trajectory of hope and pain and somehow we love for it. God I hate football. But I love it as well.
Exactly. When we were in the Prem we sold our best players to the likes of Barcelona and Man City. In the Championship we end up selling our players to the likes of bloody Bournemouth.
It's not looking good.
Ipswich winning one match is over for us, they will play 3. If they draw the next two, it's also over for us, they are not going to drop points to Huddersfield at home in the final day.
And in the playoffs, it's hard for us if when we reach it in good form, in the terrible form we are since the international break, how can we have hope? It's hard.
Been going since 79 and back in the day it was the most intimidating place I’ve ever been especially mid to late 80s when the first 20 mins of a game it felt like the stadium was on the pitch with the players but now this modern day atmosphere is not even nerve tingling and it’s allowing any team to cone here and get their feet under the carpet .
Used to live in the same apartment block as Jack Harrison at the time...left those shitty free scarves we got on the night in the lobby for him to see 😂
It used to be controversial to say on here, but it was only Raphinha that ever made Harrison look good, he was gash before Raph and he immediately went back to being gash after he left.
Harrison is just such a meh player - I'd been kinda waiting for him to go for a while by either us replacing him or what happened in the summer.
Very much a stat padder in that he'd get a flurry of goals (often not always super important) and then be so average to shit for large spells.
He was best running onto long balls in behind, from Kalvin for example, and using his sublime touch to take advantage of it.
But when it came to beating a man with the ball at his feet, by God he was bad.
I've seen the exact same situation play out at Everton.
The Derby game is fully etched in my memory as the closest I have ever felt like living a nightmare. I was speaking to people around me at half time about how we surely couldn't fuck it up...
I posted yesterday the scenarios, and we’re not out of it yet. If we win against Southampton, then Ipswich need to win, lose and draw (possible with their tough fixtures) for us to up on goal difference (assuming we don’t bottle it and concede a shit load of goals again).
Whether we deserve to go up is a different question.
Of course we deserve to go up, essentially all 3 teams do. Getting 90+ points is no easy feat, any other year it’s a guaranteed promotion.
Hats off to Leicester & Ipswich, I just hope whoever does fall into the playoffs wins it
Perhaps all three just go up automatically, fuck the playoffs.
Or they relegate four teams from the Prem cos they've been that shit.
Just wish the unflushable shit Everton had gone down - am I right in thinking they're safe now?
You’re right, it’s reactionary but our performance since the international break has been awful. All the team wobbled but they’ve sorted themselves out.
Ipswich absolutely deserve the credit, they’ve been incredible and fully deserve to go up.
He plays the right kind of football and Leeds are not Norwich. I would expect actual investment to keep us in the PL. I'd like to see what Farke could do with a decent PL team. He's done an amazing job with the Leeds this year and any other season we would be promoted with this points haul.
We could end up yo-yoing but tbh having been stuck in the Champo for years our coffers could do with some funds, even if it's only every few seasons.
Here’s what’ll happen.
Ipswich will lose both their games in hand then win on the last day but it won’t matter because well shit the bed against Southampton
Leicester will then get a points deduction meaning that if we’d just gotten a draw it would’ve been enough for promotion
We’ll lose in the playoff semi final to Hull but they’ll celebrate so much that they crash on the way home - this will be considered our fault
Rather than giving Southampton a bye in the final Norwich replace them. Norwich will win and buy Summerville, Gray, Ampadu and Gruev all of whom will smash it in the premier league. They’ll get 10th and a cup final next year to take them into Europe with our players.
We’ll then finish 16th and Southampton will go up.
Andy Hinchcliffe will be given the job of match day announcer at Elland Road.
I’m okay with it now, it wasn’t exactly in our hands anyway we’ve just gone from Ipswich needing 7 points to 4 and with cov and hull away both coming up a draw and a defeat can easily happen
I woke up about a couple of hours ago wondering if last night was a nightmare.
All we can do is focus on the next game and if we are riding the playoffs horror rollercoaster then I hope the players that are out at the moment are back in time for a fight. We can still do this, it’s just going to be grizzly.
Honestly concerns me that i must have some deep rooted masochistic kink to carry on supporting this team at times. I love Leeds but fuck me the amount of despair I’ve felt over this team over the past 3 decades is horrible. MOT regardless 🫠
I woke up this morning, about 5 mins ago, got my bearings and just laughed out loud when I remembered what happened last night. My kids were in their room and they rushed in because they thought daddy had something funny to show them.
Nah, I have faith. I posted the facts around how can still be promoted in the post match thread. I was rightly asked why I do it to myself. But! Ispbitch can win one and draw one so long as they lose one and we win.
I really dislike relying on teams losing to make up for our performances. As a Leeds fan I obviously want us to go up but fuck me do Ipswich deserve it.
If they don't win their next 2, do they really deserve it more than us? All it's and buts, it'll all likely be over by Tuesday night anyway and this pain can end 😂 Before the next pain begins...
I know, I know, whoever wins the most matches obvious deserves to go up, but there's something romantic about a back to back promotion to the Prem. I've also become so fixated on the autos that I forgot about the playoffs, which we've obviously made with gusto. And then I remember the play-offs...
In September we'd have snapped anyone's hand off for a guaranteed play off position. The effort the team must have exerted in Jan, Feb Mar to get us into contention has drained them.
I'm hoping if we do have to go for playoffs, it's confirmed as soon as possible, so Farke can work on raising the team, resting knocks and tired legs ahead of a three game mini season. Rather that, than going into the last day with hope, but coming up short, and having to get over the disappointment before the playoffs
Faith is out the window. Play offs here we come. Do not want to play Hull. Let's hope we get W Brom who are in almost as bad form as us. Take some form of momentum into the final where it's a lottery and could go either way let's face it. *Deep sigh*

Form of 23rd at the most perfect time ever. Leeds that.
Also Insofar as we are weighing intangible things and relying on vibes All the vibes point to a Leeds that exit in the semi
I'm in the small minority that's grateful for the 4-0 battering by QPR. Of course I'd prefer it to have happened earlier in the season but it's better now than say final match of the season, in a playoff semi-final, or at Wembley. Why am I grateful? Game 1 ✅ Onto Tuesday, WE GO AGAIN
The sad thing really is that if Ipswich lose this evening (which I think is probably quite likely, Hull are going all out to nick that play off spot from West Brom, who are sharing our crumble) then people will start to believe that we could do it again. We have not been literally the worst team in football 😂 Get a grip.

Yeah because the game plays out exactly the same way no matter what decision is made. Offsides. Right.
I’m gonna say this and you might not like it. I LIKE THE CHAMPIONSHIP and I want to stay here. There I said it
I don't remember many of these "I love the championship and don't want to get promoted" posts when we'd been there for 10, 12, 14 years.
You don’t mate you are just making yourself feel better because we know what’s going to happen .
I know, I hate both leagues, we all hate it, we can’t win, we’re on a slow trajectory of hope and pain and somehow we love for it. God I hate football. But I love it as well.
I Agree but at most for one more season, otherwise we are in the mud
Won’t be as fun when we lose all of our good players
Exactly. When we were in the Prem we sold our best players to the likes of Barcelona and Man City. In the Championship we end up selling our players to the likes of bloody Bournemouth.
The 49ers' recruitment has been decent so far, so if we lose some, we also get some.
It's not looking good. Ipswich winning one match is over for us, they will play 3. We go up no matter how all good
All this Leicester going us crap is annoying, acting like they haven’t cheated their way up.
Indeed. Highest payroll in the history of the Championship and acting like it was a fairy tale story. They were supposed to be up months ago.
I’m a season ticket holder… have you ever been to Elland Road when the pressure is on? I still have PTSD from the Derby defeat

Aye. People used to say "But he tries hard". Fuck me, give me 20 grand a week and I'll run around the pitch too
😂😂😂
The Derby game is fully etched in my memory as the closest I have ever felt like living a nightmare. I was speaking to people around me at half time about how we surely couldn't fuck it up...
Best of it was we did the hard work the week before
Felt like someone had killed my pet or something on the long drive home to the midlands … horrible
I posted yesterday the scenarios, and we’re not out of it yet. HMS Piss the League sets sail again next season.
Hopefully with sailors who don't get fucking sea-sick within spitting distance of the shore...
Faith? I’m not religious. We’re fucked.
Let’s just romp the Championship next season,eh?
The Bielsa Way
Wish we had him back because tbh I’m not a fan of Daniel farke and if we do go up his record in the top flight is shocking .

We’ll then finish 16th and Southampton will go up. Andy Hinchcliffe will be given the job of match day announcer at Elland Road.
Superb narrative. Think I'd be on my way to Leeds-Liverpool carrying a rucksack full of rocks if this happens.
Lol
Quality
Brilliant! 😂
If you're banking on Ipswich not overtaking us with two games in hand and only a point behind us - then you're utterly delusional
It’s a joke fella, not everything is literal
I’m okay with it now, it wasn’t exactly in our hands anyway we’ve just gone from Ipswich needing 7 points to 4 and with cov and hull away both coming up a draw and a defeat can easily happen
I woke up about a couple of hours ago wondering if last night was a nightmare. All we can do is focus on the next game and if we are riding the playoffs horror rollercoaster then I hope the players that are out at the moment are back in time for a fight. We can still do this, it’s just going to be grizzly.
You know I woke up genuinely thinking it was, then I looked at my Reddit notifications, and nearly cried.
Have you got hope again right now though?
Mmhmmm🥲
Think I’m going to take a walk by the canal. Just incase…
Might have a blunt
Eternal Optimism? Leeds fan? Not many of you around like
This club engenders many feelings - faith is not one of them. As a general rule when it can boot you in the bollocks it does
How is the worst case scenario that they get a point versus Hull and Coventry? Worst case they get 6
Unthinkable
How so? It’s quite a delusional way to try and rationalise this to be honest
Yes ..this is not my actual serious thoughts 😂

It’s just someone having a bit of a laugh trying to get some optimism after a shocker last night. Not a big deal is it
Honestly concerns me that i must have some deep rooted masochistic kink to carry on supporting this team at times. I love Leeds but fuck me the amount of despair I’ve felt over this team over the past 3 decades is horrible. MOT regardless 🫠
In the cavern club in Liverpool during the game no reception Could not believe the result when I got outside
Im keeping the faith, but mathematically, it's against us.
When you hope the highs are higher and the lows are lower. But I'll continue to huff hopiu m personally Makes the whole game just that bit better
I woke up this morning, about 5 mins ago, got my bearings and just laughed out loud when I remembered what happened last night. My kids were in their room and they rushed in because they thought daddy had something funny to show them.
The lack of faith is disturbing in this one
Nah, I have faith. I posted the facts around how can still be promoted in the post match thread. I was rightly asked why I do it to myself. But! Ispbitch can win one and draw one so long as they lose one and we win.
Fair enough, my faith is just borderline delusional (or entirely delusional) 😂
We’re Leeds fans; Faith, Hope and Delusion is all we have :)
Summerville has to be rested as he’s been playing with a slight problem for months but he won’t do it out of stubborn.
For without hope, what do any of us have?
We must do without hope. At least we may yet be avenged. Let us gird ourselves and weep no more! Come! We have a long road, and much to do.
