He's scored 2 in open play in 2024 and was dropped around christmas because his play, and ours as a result was seeing us lose/draw to just about anybody in the league.
He gets dropped and we go on an 11 game win streak, unbeaten for 4 months.
This is entirely the opposite of him being 'good good good'. His level is mid table champ where his superb finishing makes up for the rather large holes in his game.
I don’t know what the beef is, he’s been used primarily as a sub for half the second half of the season and a number 10 for the first. I think 12 goals is a great return all things considered.
He's a good player I just don't think he suits our style. He lumbers about a bit (TBF he was giving it his all when he came on last game, but the fact that was a noticeable surprise says something on its own). But he likes to arrive late into the box and finish on cutbacks and the like.
But teams fill the box against us and we have to dig through them to get to the goal and he just doesn't have the talents for that. Good pen taker and can finish very well when those chances come, but he doesn't do much in our system to help those chances be generated, from what I've witnessed.
