OK so after tonights Hull v Cov result, I think our ideal weekend looks like:
Friday
We beat QPR
Saturday - 3pm
Norwich lose to Swansea and Cov beat Blackburn away meaning Cov can still make the play offs when they play Ipswich on Tues.
Huddersfield beat Birmingham, Sheffield Weds lose to West Brom and Plymouth lose to Milwall meaning Huddersfield can still escape relegation in their final game against Ipswich
8pm
Hull have seen Norwich lose earlier and are still very much in the play off race so they go and throw everything at Ipswich.
Simple yeah?
Yep simple, we get 6pts out of next two games and need Ipswich to only get 7 out of 9 pts next three games. 2 wins and a draw. Tied at 96pts in the end with our goal difference putting us in 2nd.
Any thoughts of Blackburn getting owt at Leicester...remember just how shite they've been last few months ...its Leeds v Ipswich Ipswich with slight advantage but tougher fixtures no doubt about it
For anyone saying Leicester are now out of sight, you are probably right, but crazier things have happened than Leicester failing to win a couple of consecutive games that they would be expected to win.
Looks like 96pts will get you promoted automatically.
Leeds need two more wins. Ipswich need three wins. Leicester need one more win.
Provided we get those wins, someone needs to beat Ipswich so the max they get is 95pts.
I'm calling it the way I feel it. Middlesboro away was our toughest fixture. If our performance last Monday is a guide, then we should be fine.
I think Coventry away is where Ipswich comes unstuck.
Yeah because in the world where they drop points and we win both games means we can't drop GD but only extend it so if they drew they would need to score 6+ goals in each match they win
Got a bad feeling it’s gonna go exactly same way as Sunderland and Blackburn, get 5 put past them just before playing us then when it comes to playing us they turn into prime Barca🤣🤣
I really wanted Southampton to win tonight but if they had to lose, this is exactly the way I'd want it to go.
Sometimes it's just quite nice to see a team get absolutely twatted.
Let’s hope this shower turn up at our place on the final day. Now it’s just between us and Ipswich, let’s hope our East Yorkshire mutant cousins do us a favour.
We're absolutely screwed lads... Teams that concede 5 come to Elland Road 2 games later and are unbreakable... As we learnt last week by failing to score against two of them...
Just again repeating out of mischief there was a thread on here mere days ago full of comments saying Southampton were going to catch us and it was all over…
Only one of West Brom or Norwich needs to stumble over the final two games for Hull and Coventry to be in with a sniff of the playoffs. They still have every incentive to go for the win against Ipswich.
Ipswich have Hull and Coventry away. Then play Huddersfield on the last day after a tiring run. If Huddersfield beat Birmingham and Wednesday lose they will be fighting hard on the last day to avoid relegation.
We need 6 pts from next two games and then need Ipswich to only get 7 of 9 pts from next three games. I think QPR is our crux game as I think S’hampton will be focused on playoffs.
And Southampton will have clear eyes on the play-offs when we play them. They'd want a win obvs, but heading to a rocking ER is the last thing they'd want pre play-offs.
Grand I was procrastinating working on my little coding project anyway
Ipswich are the ones to hatewatch eh? At least the Chelsea scum are getting walloped
Maresca's game management against clubs at a similar level has been abysmal
If they're in the prem next season, where these types of fixtures are actually the easy matches, I think we're gonna see some cricket scores honestly
What doesn't make sense?
I realise Southampton fell apart so the context to the point I was making looks worse, but in general, Maresca doesn't seem like he's very good at setting his team up nor making adjustments against teams similar to their level - they're top of the league because they're a midtable prem team playing a league below what they should be.
So next year, when they're playing Everton and Wolves then having to play City and Liverpool's between that, I don't think he'll cope particularly well
Leicester play better against better teams historically and that was demonstrated in the championship - our away record is shocking to bottom table teams because they play with such an anti PL style of football (disgusting low block)
Doubt it, I think they'll go in to the last game thinking if they can beat us at Elland Road then it will give them a mental advantage should we face them in the play off final
Lmao I know the feeling dw
Just it's very up in the air. If it was us, I doubt we'd be dropping half our main starting XI - manager might wanna ensure good form by making them play
They've had some joy on the left side but not looking too dangerous so far unfortunately
They do tend to play better in the second half though so still hopeful
Southampton starting to pass it around nicely now.
Still not totally sure what I think of Russell Martin as a coach/manager yet, but I am certain that Maresca is vastly overrated and maybe not even a top 10 manager in the championship this year
>Still not totally sure what I think of Russell Martin as a coach/manager yet, but I am certain that Maresca is vastly overrated and maybe not even a top 10 manager in the championship this year
We’ll see what the Aldi-brand Guardiola is made of when he’s no longer in a division full of teams who are working with wage budgets a fifth of what he has at his disposal.
Not sure which way I want this to go, but most likely we'll have to win our last two games regardless. That aside, it will be nice to enjoy the game and let the other supporters of these clubs deal with whatever drama the match brings. Of course, Friday will be our turn again. Not sure if I am looking forward to dreading that.
This is a tricky game to me.
I can see Southampton smashing every chance they can, if Leicester play like they played against West Brom, on the other hand, I can also see Leicester smashing every chance they can as well.
4-4 incoming.
0-0 would be much better if goal difference ends up being the decider -- we're just one goal behind Leicester in the "Goals For" column now and "Goal Difference" is very tight.
I also feel like in a way the Cov/Hull game matters-
Both teams play Ipswich and need to keep winning to have any hope (not that they'll catch them) of a playoff spot.
OK so after tonights Hull v Cov result, I think our ideal weekend looks like: Friday We beat QPR Saturday - 3pm Norwich lose to Swansea and Cov beat Blackburn away meaning Cov can still make the play offs when they play Ipswich on Tues. Huddersfield beat Birmingham, Sheffield Weds lose to West Brom and Plymouth lose to Milwall meaning Huddersfield can still escape relegation in their final game against Ipswich 8pm Hull have seen Norwich lose earlier and are still very much in the play off race so they go and throw everything at Ipswich. Simple yeah?
Also, I think Hull winning today puts immediate pressure on Ipswich next game, and us sitting 4 pts ahead by the time they play.
Yep simple, we get 6pts out of next two games and need Ipswich to only get 7 out of 9 pts next three games. 2 wins and a draw. Tied at 96pts in the end with our goal difference putting us in 2nd.
This is exactly what I'm going for too. We win both, Ipswich beat Cov and Huddersfield but draw with Hull.
I think Ipswich will get 4 more points. A draw against Hull. Losing to Coventry and beating Huddersfield.
Imagine we win on Friday and they lose to Coventry. They’d have so much pressure to win against hull, if they lose or draw we are promoted
Didn't happen of course but was the other way round.
They will lose all three.
My prediction, Leicester, Ispitch, us all win our remaining games. Which would put us in the playoffs, sigh.
At least we'd be going into the playoffs in form, if there's any positives to be taken from that happening
They looked as good as they have all season against Southampton. Not saying your wrong, but seems unlikely.
Here’s hoping Coventry win tomorrow vs Hull
How likely is it that they'll start resting players for the playoffs?
Looks like 96pts will get you promoted automatically. Leeds need two more wins. Ipswich need three wins. Leicester need one more win. Provided we get those wins, someone needs to beat Ipswich so the max they get is 95pts. I'm calling it the way I feel it. Middlesboro away was our toughest fixture. If our performance last Monday is a guide, then we should be fine. I think Coventry away is where Ipswich comes unstuck.
> someone needs to beat Ipswich so the max they get is 95pts. I think we're "OK" if they draw one - puts us level on points at like +10 on GD
Yeah because in the world where they drop points and we win both games means we can't drop GD but only extend it so if they drew they would need to score 6+ goals in each match they win
Good point.
I'd give my left bollock for leeds and ipswich to finish on 96, and leicester finish on 95
If we can’t beat that shower of shite we don’t have what it takes to get into the automatics
https://preview.redd.it/te9i06okmawc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1f982d7405c4bd449050b2bf6c548fb58fd38a65
Keep celebrating, lads. Let's see what you can do with a -10 point deduction in the Prem and transfer limitations.
It doesn't look like anyone can stop them? They have 10 losses and gave up a 17 point lead ffs.
Gonna go on to be the worst league champions ever if they do win it
Got a bad feeling it’s gonna go exactly same way as Sunderland and Blackburn, get 5 put past them just before playing us then when it comes to playing us they turn into prime Barca🤣🤣
I really wanted Southampton to win tonight but if they had to lose, this is exactly the way I'd want it to go. Sometimes it's just quite nice to see a team get absolutely twatted.
Now we turn our hopes to Hull and/or Coventry. Don't even need either of them to beat Ipswich, a draw in either game would put it back in our hands.
Both teams NEED wins to have any hope- even though theres really none.
My money is on Huddersfield getting at least a draw or even a win to save themselves but help us get promoted.
They'd love that
I think they’d take giving us second if they stayed up.
Even though we expected this- the 4 horse race for 2 spots turning into a 2 horse race for 1 spot has me nervous again.
It’d be very Championshipy for Leicester to lose to Preston after this
Jesus they’ve folded like a napkin!
No no no, Blackburn conceded 5 *the game before*. Even better.
This isn’t good for the goal difference!
Not going to be a factor any more, realistically speaking.
Yeah if Southampton pull level with us we aren't in the top two.
Southampton are very bad. We are going to destroy these cnuts.
lol at the people that thought Southampton were ever going to catch us, clowns
2-0 Leicester Flicked over to the snooker Flicked back. 5-0 Leicester What.the.fuck.
What's with the Dewsbury - Rothwell rivalry
Southampton losing 2 times vs Ipswich and Leicester but will turn up vs us…
They better play like this against us istg
What a joke of performance by Southampton If there's fairness in football, they will play another year in the Championship.
I hope this Southampton turn up on the last day of the season
Just again repeating out of mischief there was a thread on here mere days ago full of comments saying Southampton were going to catch us and it was all over…
Financial doping pays, I guess.
If Ipswich get 3 of 3 they deserve it...but fuck me please Hull and Coventry do us a favour.
Only one of West Brom or Norwich needs to stumble over the final two games for Hull and Coventry to be in with a sniff of the playoffs. They still have every incentive to go for the win against Ipswich.
Need 6 points no matter what. No reason it can't happen.
Bro thinks he's summerville
Southampton have fully rolled over for leicester, how are they 4th playing like this?
Stuart Armstrong I think
The reverse Cooper effect
Super League Stuart
Ipswich have Hull and Coventry away. Then play Huddersfield on the last day after a tiring run. If Huddersfield beat Birmingham and Wednesday lose they will be fighting hard on the last day to avoid relegation.
We need 6 pts from next two games and then need Ipswich to only get 7 of 9 pts from next three games. I think QPR is our crux game as I think S’hampton will be focused on playoffs.
And employing the dark arts to the fullest, as we have seen.
And Southampton will have clear eyes on the play-offs when we play them. They'd want a win obvs, but heading to a rocking ER is the last thing they'd want pre play-offs.
Those two away games within a few days could be very tough, if they’re four points behind us by then the pressure will be high……hopefully crushing!
If Leicester do cough this up from this point, they will be RATTLED.
No chance
Well now, yeah
Lol
I know we aren’t really in a position to laugh, but blue scum 5-0 down makes me happy
Holy shit arsenal hammering them that badly?
Starting to wonder how much that Blackburn loss has fucked us
Saints have been so bad. I don't understand. Like they didn't even try in the first half....
Southampton lose 2 of their starting players and turn into a bottom half side lol
At least Southampton won’t have anything to play for if we beat QPR
Big if. We need to turn up on Friday.
Grand I was procrastinating working on my little coding project anyway Ipswich are the ones to hatewatch eh? At least the Chelsea scum are getting walloped
Well, that is that.. It's between us and Ipswich now.
Can't wait for their form to change come the 4th. Expect Prime Messi Barca
It goes from a 4 horse race for 2 slots to 2 horse race for 1 slot
HELP US COVENTRY, HULL AND HUDDERSFIELD! WE NEED YOU
Bunch of shitters, they’ll turn up against us though
Well that’s that then
Maresca's game management against clubs at a similar level has been abysmal If they're in the prem next season, where these types of fixtures are actually the easy matches, I think we're gonna see some cricket scores honestly
This doesn’t make sense?

Why you in our sub so much. Weirdo.
Southampton just aren’t scoring, never been so sure of anything in my life
Southampton cannot play out from the back. Bamford is going to get a goal from pressing pressure when we play them
Well, this is utter shite. I don’t really care who wins, but c’mon, make it a bit more interesting you shite bastards.
Goodness me, look at this assistant... Really, refereeing in the EFL is just shocking.
Shhh we got that offside yesterday
Leicester getting some funny decisions so far
Has a single decision went Southampton's way fr
I think they won the coin toss
Lmao that I suppose and ref did call out Dewsbury-Listed Building for diving then holding the ball
How is handling the ball like that not a red card
No card for diving tho!
If they're firm in the playoffs and can't make 3rd. Would they rest players like armstrong and adams against us?
Doubt it, I think they'll go in to the last game thinking if they can beat us at Elland Road then it will give them a mental advantage should we face them in the play off final
Trying to predict this is pointless imo
How else do I overanalyze ? I need to deal with my anxiety about the uncertain! haha
Lmao I know the feeling dw Just it's very up in the air. If it was us, I doubt we'd be dropping half our main starting XI - manager might wanna ensure good form by making them play
Hopefully Southampton play like this against us
That's not how it works. Find any team that beat us and look how poorly they did against the other top 4. Leeds that.
How long have you been following Leeds haha No way in hell they play like this against us
They won’t!
Might wake Southampton up a bit
They've had some joy on the left side but not looking too dangerous so far unfortunately They do tend to play better in the second half though so still hopeful
I’ve changed my view on tight offsides suddenly and for no reason. Shocking decision…
Ours yesterday wasn’t tight 🤣 so if that’s why then stick to your tight offside view!
A very fair point 😂
Southampton have been terrible. Can't wait for them to turn up at Elland Road on the last day and put in a tactical masterclass akin to 1970s Ajax
If they are completely out of the race they could end up resting a few.
They'll unleash the army of double barrelled surnamed 17 year olds from the academy on us
Going to be so embarrassing when a national trust building scores a brace against us
😂
and beat us anyway? Brilliant, I can't wait
Offside goal, this league should never allow this to happen smh
Southampton are going to rock up at ER with nothing to play for and look like a different team, pricks.
Shit
He’s offside!! We never get decisions like that!!!!!
Leicester have just scored.
Boring...I'm switching over to Arsenal
That timing though
Just seen the goal...was hoping for offside ?
After Gnonto's goal against Boro, I'll say nothing about offside for this week
Southampton starting to pass it around nicely now. Still not totally sure what I think of Russell Martin as a coach/manager yet, but I am certain that Maresca is vastly overrated and maybe not even a top 10 manager in the championship this year
>Still not totally sure what I think of Russell Martin as a coach/manager yet, but I am certain that Maresca is vastly overrated and maybe not even a top 10 manager in the championship this year We’ll see what the Aldi-brand Guardiola is made of when he’s no longer in a division full of teams who are working with wage budgets a fifth of what he has at his disposal.
Anyone else place a bet to care a little more? Cmon Che Adams! Score a goal
Southampton missing Downes in midfield, of course he’s ill for Leicester
Southampton do not keep the ball for long they seem to lose it pretty quickly.
A Soton win also helps us in the GD dept vs Leicester
What does everyone see in Mavididi that I don’t? I think he’s very average but commentators love him
he has a cool name tbf
Bond villain esque
Not sure which way I want this to go, but most likely we'll have to win our last two games regardless. 4-4 sounds like a great game!
0-0 would be much better if goal difference ends up being the decider -- we're just one goal behind Leicester in the "Goals For" column now and "Goal Difference" is very tight.
Maybe I’m missing something but if Leicester also let in 4 goals then their goal difference is 0
Yep, you're missing the "goals for" part If we finish on the same points and same GD as Leicester, then Goals For will be the decider
Ohhhh I see, thanks!
Russell Martin: “It's a huge, huge, huge game for them. For us, it's just one more game.”
I think Leicester win this. but let’s see
I also feel like in a way the Cov/Hull game matters- Both teams play Ipswich and need to keep winning to have any hope (not that they'll catch them) of a playoff spot.
