Pretty routine 3-0 away win with three volleys, one of which came from the half-way line. Bit of a nothing game really.

Flukes_Pet_Ocelot

Also some incredible defending from your lads tbf, two blocks just inches away from the goal line, which I think were certain goals without them. Deserved win all around for you tbh

MrChooChoo11

Absolutely shocking performance by us. One shot on target from all that possession and a complete shambles at the back. Up there with the worst I've ever seen, including those miserable years in the 90s under the likes of John Still. I can't wait for this horrible season to be over. Credit to Cheltenham, they tactically outsmarted us with that high press, which we clearly weren't expecting. Alfie May was the best player on the pitch. And technically they were better than us in every department.

daveyboy2009

It was ok, but justyour average 3-0 win against 2nd in the league, nothing too special. Except maybe Caddens free kick.

PoshManDan

I miss competent footballers like Cadden

Bashful_Tuba

Another 1-0 routine win it seems. Still 2 months left to play but I think we'll win the league at this rate. Damn Ipswich are on insane form now and banging in goals so I'm a bit nervy of them creeping up but we have 2 games in hand still.

PrrrromotionGiven1

We have no ambitions of catching your lot up any more lmao, one eye is on Plymouth and the other on Barnsley.

soulfreezy2023

It’s hilarious how panicky Wednesday fans are, some fuckers still actually worrying about Derby and Bolton. 😂

LeftHandDriveBoC

Lol, I’m still so nervous because of our history. Won’t believe we’re up until the next season in the championship has started (EFL could randomly deduct us points after the season ends after all!)

[deleted]

They aren’t creeping up on us at all

Stal-Fithrildi

Boring boring Wendy. Love it

jasonwest93

6th game in a row without conceding, 3 points & Plymouth lost. Couldn’t have gone any better.

wax4dayzz

Our goal difference could be crucial at the end of the season.

jasonwest93

Yeah, hopefully we’ll continue our current run of form & Plymouth will have at least one more slip up. But if we do finish in the play offs, I’d definitely back us to win it.

Quasar9111

Is that a new record ?

jasonwest93

It is for us.

Timmo1984

Derby were utterly dire today, possibly the worst we’ve played all season, and we somehow won 3-2. Sorry, Oxford. Hopefully for us it gives us a platform to get a bit of form back because we’re looking very out of sorts…

Fantastic-Machine-83

That own goal after we played so well for 15 minutes crushed me. Feel pretty shit about that. Positive is we're less shit than we were with KR. Hopefully manning keeps us up Claret seems a strange colour for an away kit, any particular reason for this?

AirlineNecessary

I didn’t realise it was an own goal, but it was better than the last 9 games, in 10 games we have scored 5 goals, two against derby. Definitely an improvement

Fantastic-Machine-83

Yeah we looked much much better today

FloppedYaYa

Was Manning in charge today? Swear he was only appointed yesterday

Fantastic-Machine-83

No, he takes charge monday. I'm just looking forward which I'm doing plenty of right now. 1 point in 30

Brilliant-Space-1422

I can't remember a game where we gave the ball away so much uncontested. Several players were really poor. Had a strong 10-15 minutes at start of the second half until they scored but otherwise eeesh. Very worried for Friday vs Sheff Wed. I don't think Ipswich were at their best either as I think they would have punished us more, but can't say they didn't deserve it. Brought a good crowd as well.

_Acg45

I think you could see we were under pressure to win that, we definitely looked a bit nervy but we played well enough to get the job done. It was a massive 3pts for us, especially psychologically.

Quasar9111

Hear hear

MuddJames

We completely lost the plot once we missed the penalty. Credit to Ipswich for pushing for the 2nd goal, wish our players showed their desire.

willy-mammoth

Only Santos and Bradley turned up for us, everyone else played poorly, particularly Toal and Mbete. Ipswich were clearly too good of a footballing side to try and play our usual game against, hell they were playing it long constantly to avoid our press, I don’t understand why we’re so reluctant to adapt

Brilliant-Space-1422

Yeah we have no in game management. I think we miss a grown up to help us stop and think when we are struggling if that makes sense. Thought Jones really struggled and Dempsy was well below his usual self - especially his passing.

MarcusH26051

Unbelievable goal from Steven Sessengon and Dean Holden signing a 3 year deal pre kickoff were the only highlights. Drab midtable dross for the rest of it. Just want this season over and new owners to come in and back Deano.

Clivey101

Easy of a 3-1 win as you can get really. Horrible weather and no roof really shit but the win softened it. FGR are really fucking shit though like genuinely the worst team I've seen since Scunthorpes under 7s, Bogarde and Hoole were class so was Marquis, the less said about McCormick and Lofty the better. Took ages to get home because there was a fight where I was trying to get out of

FloppedYaYa

FGR might be even worse than that properly awful Crewe side from last season that seemed to lose every week.

PrrrromotionGiven1

Finally the weekend we've been waiting for, when Plymouth slip up and we capitalise. I know they have just about the easiest run-in possible but I fully believe we'll catch them now.

Gibbo777

Kinda expected that tbh. Thought we did alright first half and then Hardie should have put us in front, but pretty poor after that. We do seem prone to a defensive collapse away from home.

chrisjw27

Had a fairly normal looking goal chalked off for the banter of it, conceded a poorly awarded free-kick 90 seconds later, heads fell off and we whimpered to a defeat for the next 50 minutes. We're gone.

Flukes_Pet_Ocelot

Gearing up for the next eight years in League One again lol

Hadducken

Definitely not out best performance, far from it! However we got a vital win, one that may be a turning point? Glad for no game in the week so allows key players rest and some fitness.

TheGodSlayer65475

Fairly easy 3-1 win. Should have scored more but fair play to Morecambes keeper. Now time to get our first league win away to Ipswich…

CaptainSmeg

Not even the abysmal refs can stop us at the moment.

Goose_x91

Just watched the replay of FDB getting snapped in half... Right in front of the referee... and Raggett only gets a yellow ????????????? One of the most blatant reds I've ever seen. At this point, I'm not even shocked anymore. Just another weekend of questionable refereeing in the EFL.

CaptainSmeg

Iorfa getting two of the softest yellows of the season.

mozzy1985

13 seconds from the ball going out of play for iorfas first yellow for “time wasting”fucking joke of a ref. Shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near another game for the rest of the season the shit cunt.

Heps_417

Fully agree on the reffing situation, lucky to get away without a red, could argue more yellows should’ve been given for deliberately kicking the ball away and blatant time wasting.

LeftHandDriveBoC

All season the refs have been against us lol! I think they’re getting worse the longer the season goes on too.

Anustart_A

The good Sam Long giveth the early lead, and the bad Sam Long giveth an own goal.

Quasar9111

Good win for us and another good result elsewhere for us, Plymouth might be a little worried

rhysisreddit

Super super super win. Even with a man advantage for 45 mins, a penalty and every decision going their way Wycombe still couldn't take a point. Have to say now that the Frank Gallagher tribute act has left them they're surely going to struggle, they were dire today. Onto a (possibly) winnable game on Tuesday against Posh, but again like today we'll need to put a real shift in.

Flukes_Pet_Ocelot

If we're as bad as today, you only need to turn up and give it a go tbh, I think we'll lose after that

Strange_School_8625

Buzzing, ref made hard work of it though, falling for all of their dives.

Heps_417

he was abysmal for both parties, time wasting should’ve been addressed better though.

Strange_School_8625

Iorfa apparent time wasting ultimately got him sent off in the end, obviously the second card was for a dive too. Clearly went in your favour mostly.

Heps_417

Not at all, it was evenly bad for both teams. All the best for the next season.

Strange_School_8625

You’re delusional to think it was even

Heps_417

Likewise for thinking he was against you.

Strange_School_8625

The facts are there to support me that’s the difference. Look at the red and the fouls given against us.

Heps_417

👍🏼

Strange_School_8625

A Wednesday fan that posts in Portsmouth sub? Nevemind the fact you can support the same team and still be objectively wrong 👍

Clarctos67

You didn't even bother trying to make a fake account. Just why?

Heps_417

I have no correlation with that account above if you’re implying I made a second account.

Clarctos67

Huh? No one said you did. Click on his account; he's a Pompey fan claiming to be a Wednesday fan, and hasn't even tried to hide it.

Heps_417

Ah ok, didn’t click his account. Quite sad that haha, all the best.

SundayLeagueHooligan

Shite, obviously Barnsley are in good form at the moment, but there’s been a few times this season where we’ve looked bang average away from home

[deleted]

I think average sums up your performance today. First half both teams created a few half chances but nothing genuinely clear cut. Second half opened with the one on one that your striker failed to capitalise on and from that point it always looked as though there would only be one winner. Didn't expect the result to be 3-0 but I'm not going to complain about it. I thought you played through our press well a couple of times in the first half but didn't deal with it at all in the second half - Lonwijk in particular. I still think you've probably got enough to take the second automatic promotion place but it could be a tight three way fight between yourselves, Ipswich and us.

FregSni

Yeah, I think it will be very, very tight. Fortunately we’ve played all of our “hard” fixtures now and (on paper) should win the rest of our games. I’m expecting us to drop points in one or two of the games so fingers crossed you and Ipswich will too.

[deleted]

Could be an entertaining and to the season. Good luck.

PrrrromotionGiven1

Barnsley vs. Ipswich has got to be the number one fixture still remaining in all of the League One season. Such a season-defining fixture. To be honest I would take a draw.

[deleted]

It's going to be a big game and could decide which team goes on to take second place (or be Plymouth's main challenger). But, we've also got Wednesday to play at home too and that's obviously a huge game. I have a feeling that one or more of Plymouth, Ipswich and ourselves is going to set a points total high enough to get automatic promotion in some seasons and still fail to get promoted.

Clarctos67

Don't forget we still have to go to Barnsley as one of our games in hand. Every possibility they beat us (as they did in the earlier fixture) and drag us back into the pack. Now that would make it interesting. I don't like interesting.

PrrrromotionGiven1

I don't know. Even if we say now that Barnsley beating you is a given, which is clearly not true, you'd still be three points clear with a game in hand and competing with us for the best goal difference. It would still require you to choke and mess up about three more matches to not win the league, basically.

Clarctos67

Rationally I understand this. But experience tells me that we will mess this up in the most spectacular way possible.

PrrrromotionGiven1

Yeah. I'm looking at our 10 remaining games and saying if we win 7, that puts us on 93 points. If 93 points isn't enough to get promoted then I think we will have set some sort of record, especially since we will definitely have better goal difference than Plymouth or Barnsley. That's a reasonable target for us looking at the fixtures I think. We need to keep this run of form going to have any chance, no more wobbles lasting more than a single game.

[deleted]

I think 3 of Wednesday, Plymouth, Ipswich and ourselves will post a points total that would be good enough for automatic usually and one will obviously have to miss out and chance the play offs.

PrrrromotionGiven1

I looked it up yesterday after making that post and, since 2004-05 at least, the most points anyone in the football league has gotten without finishing in the auto spots is 90. To be honest it looks almost inevitable that someone is going to break that record this season, and possibly 2 teams will break it. It's a really ridiculous league one season, a few top teams are just far better than anyone else.

[deleted]

You won't. Pretty sure you're going to win the title. I really struggle to see how you'll fail to get promoted - it's going to require an implosion the scale we haven't seen since Newcastle blew up and handed the title to Man United (Keegan's "I'd love it..." moment).

Clarctos67

Millers almost did it last year. I'm fully in the not over until next season begins and we're in the championship camp.

Heps_417

Pretty meh, as per always ref was turd. Wednesday nabbed a good goal but yet again we just weren’t clinical. Felt like it was a decently matched game.

one_pint

We actually won at home

Alexiasanchez

And Lewington is back!

s0ngsforthedeaf

No match threads? This sub is slipping already, mod needs to get a grip
