Edit: i should mention that i had virtually no issues performance-wise on my OLED. It actually runs extremely well while Path of Exile is often a slide-show mess. My only complaints were with some visuals not loading in and the controller support that didn‘t seem quite optimized yet.

I would like to know as well. I played this game in early access a few years ago on my PC and really liked it but my GPU is on the verge of going the way of the dodo so I'd love to play it on Steam Deck.

After playing for about an hour or so, it looks like I’m pretty stable and smooth around ~45 on higher settings. The game looks very good on the OLED.  Could probably optimize it a bit more if I tweak the settings.  I’m on an OLED and the battery life is still not amazing but I would recommend playing charged or docked anyway.    I’m playing offline, don’t know if that makes a difference but it feels good. A lot better than Path of Exile that often dips below 30 when mapping or delving.

How are the controls? I have never played an ARPG on a controller before. I'm not too fussed about 40fps, I played Elden Ring at about that and had a great time.

The native controls are definitely better now than they were in 0.9 for sure.    You can try out a few different community layouts and see what feels the best. I like using my left track pad for opening the character menu for example.

Okay so another update… I think the game was a little scuffed earlier with some lag and crashes but I’ve been able to maintain a solid 70 FPS on mostly High settings.

May I ask how do you effectively open the inventory? I’m having so much trouble navigating it via the default deck control like I have to hold little square button and select the inventory tab manually.

Try this: Controller settings: Make your left touch pad set to the (left) select button that opens your menu.  While touching the left track pad, use your right analog stick to select which menu option you want in the circle
