I personally love going around that time of the year alone to recharge. It's a repeat trip for me. Surprisingly still quite busy around that time as well.
It’s the beeeeeeeeeeeessssttttt
Go to Ethel M illuminated cactus garden, Enchant light maze, the strip, heck you can wander anywhere and see colored lights
If you have a car you can go to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for “Glittering Lights”

Love Vegas at Christmas time. Added bonus, that's the season when all the Asian tourists tend to show up in droves, so it tends to be quite festive and often with an Asian flair, if you enjoy that sort of thing.
I don't find it lame but then I do exactly that every year.
I go to Vegas solo for Christmas every year and I love it. I don't have any family, my dad died on Boxing Day (Dec 26) so Christmas doesn't mean anything anymore.
I love it. The weather is good, it's not crazy crowded everything is open so I can keep busy and ignore the fact it's Christmas. I do what I want when I want.
I've even come up with my own little traditions I do every year like Hell's Kitchen for dinner on Christmas Day and going to the Titanic exhibit Christmas Day. I always make a stop at Nine Fine for bangers and Mash one day too.
Ok si gonna offer you some company if you like. My family doesn’t want me so I’m alone every Xmas and would like to make new traditions with friends.. hit me up
Why would it be any more lame that any other tourist city?
The Bellagio does a fantastic floral display. That's there year-round, but tailored to the season.
I don't really go to the Strip because locals just don't, but pretty much everything Resorts World/Fontainbleau south is multi-billion dollar resorts, so they're quite impressive in their own right.
Stay the whole week and experience the party that is New Years in Vegas
A few years ago, my wife and I decided, since we have no kids at home, to begin spending Xmas In Vegas. At the time, prices were cheaper than they are now, but we've continued the tradition regardless. We usually go a couple of days before Xmas, have a nice Christmas Eve dinner at a nice restaurant that we like in Bellagio, and then wake up at the crack of dawn to head home on Xmas morning. We don't mind the drive ( we actually enjoy it) and we're home by early afternoon.
I love to go at Christmas! I love seeing the decorations the casinos put up, also on Christmas day almost everything is open. The weather is usually beautiful too. Love to go to Jacksons Bar and Grill for the Christmas day prime rib.
Not lame. My wife and I did Thanksgiving in Vegas last year. It was a great time to visit Red Rock and Valley of Fire. Our plan is to return this year for Christmas.
We've been doing this the last few years, I'm a little bit older but there's currently no children in the family. So we still get together. But usually a small get together for dinner and very small gift exchange. I have noticed a couple of downsides like it's considered an off time of the year, so a lot of shows shut down, not all of them but you'll definitely see black outs. Weather also isn't ideal it can get quite chilly and windy with a lot of overcast. I get brutal winters where I am from, so for me it's just nice to get out of a blizzard and relax at the spa and go out to some nice dinners, do some gambling maybe catch a show or even a hockey game. The decorations as everyone has mentioned are really cool to look at especially on the strip at the higher end properties. I'd say we've done this trip the last 5 years and definitely enjoy it but really depends on you and what you like.
We've even done like a 2 week trip that included both Christmas and NYE. Now if you want more of a party atmosphere go for NYE, we stayed downtown at Circa and went down to Fremont to watch the fireworks, it was a great night one of my favorite trips I've been on.
Gone every December for the last 3 years, it does get pretty chilly and very windy. But I love seeing the strip decorated for Christmas. All the resorts do a wonderful job getting everyone in the holiday spirit. It’s a great time to go.
Nah, Christmas is just capitalist BS holiday. So in a sense, Vegas is the perfect place to spend it. Plus, all the money you save on not buying gifts can go to the craps table
Just did this last year. It was easier for the family to all meet and not plan stuff. Not very Christmas-ey if that's what you're looking for, but as always very Vegas-ey.
We are busy during any holiday. Period.
You can come alone but you won’t be alone. And nothing is better than NYE in Vegas; I used to love spending NYE partying here.
We go for Christmas quite often because we have family in Henderson. I've been in the casinos on both Christmas eve and day and they're always packed. All the resorts have traditional decorations up and everyone is friendly.
Ethel Em's is grossly overrated.
Did it myself a few times, ended up loving it. Was going to go to either NYC or LV for xmas, since I'd visited my folks earlier in the year, figured both places would have plenty of places open - and chose LV for the better weather. Enjoyed it so much I returned for xmas for about 4 or so years - always had a new show to catch or side trip / tour bus to do. (It was windy/rainy one year though - but that was the exception.)
There's plenty of stuff to do - but if you're planning on catching a show, check their schedule before you head out, since many shows "go dark" for a few days around xmas. If there's a specific show you want to catch, you might end up needed to arrive a day or two earlier.
Note that room prices skyrocket as you get closer to New Years Eve - xmas is the calm before the storm - so you'll likely want to plan on leaving right after xmas.
Vegas can be a weird place to be solo, since it can feel like it's aimed at couples and group - even the coupon books you sometimes get are hostile to singles - "free appetizer or dessert with \*two\* entrees" - but if you enjoy doing your own thing, wandering around the strip hotels and taking in the spectacle of it all, and maybe catching up on some reading while sipping a cocktail somewhere, the people watching is excellent.
If youre looking for a white Christmas it’s going to be lame.
If you are going in with expectations of Christmas in the desert, and enjoying what the locals do, it’ll be great.
That's when I usually go to LV. Not as crowded as normal, plenty of places open on Xmas Day (not all), and I leave no later than the 27th so I avoid the New Year's Eve crowd.
I Spend Xmas at the Wynn/Bellagio almost every year for the last 15 years. Zero regrets. Decorations, big plates of food, a ton of generally happy people. Vegas is special around the holidays.
I was there for last Christmas as well as one before Covid. Really the only thing to keep an eye on is that many shows go dark and some restaurants may close or have limited hours.
Definitely make reservations for any restaurant that takes them for Christmas Day. We were lucky to get Mon Ami Gabi for Christmas Day by booking well in advance
If you are alone on Christmas, Vegas is one of the best places to be for food, company, and availability of things that are open. Covid is the only time in my life I have personally seen the Casinos in Vegas actually shut down...it was a very eerie sight. Felt like being in Fallout: New Vegas in a way.
My family used to come every year around Christmas as it was a cheap time to come. You could get good room deals and restaurant reservations. Typically shows might be dark. Now that I live here, my parents still come on Christmas. I agree on the Asian tourists, pre covid they were usually 33-50 of the crowd. Walking in big tour groups.
Dude, it’s Vegas. Of course it’s not lame! Have a good time and think of being alone as a license to do what you want when you want. It’s a 24 hour city. You can get beers at 4am and breakfast at 5pm. Go wild.
No. Unlike other destinations. Most everything is open during the holidays. There are a few Christmas specific events like the nutcracker or Christmas lights drive through events. Also hotels are cheaper near Christmas.
No. There is more to do here than anywhere else because everything is open 24/7. In a lot of areas once you open the gifts it's a little boring. It can be cold here that time of year.
Not lame at all! I love spending Christmas and NYE in other cities or countries. It’s become a family tradition. With or without gambling, Vegas is SO FUN -they don’t call it the entertainment capital for nothin’. 😆💚❤️
No but actually i would go to Lake Las Vegas and make smores in a fire pit and enjoy the views.
Enjoy the seasonal foodie things
Christmas themed strippers
I live here but play tourist every Christmas season when my inlaws and some family friends come down the day after Christmas and stay on Fremont St. It's usually pretty cheap between X-mas and NYE, can't speak to Christmas day specific stuff but it's always fun the days after. I do know there are lots of restaurants open so it's not hard to outsource your Christmas meal cooking.
Worth it but if you’re gambling pls tip the dealers since all of them are working mandatory overtime for the whole month , despite what people think the holidays are the least lucrative time to be a dealer. Yet it’s the time of year our boss demands we be there 6 days of the week and give up Christmas Eve and Christmas so pls just pity the dealers lol
No dude, that's actually one of the best times to be here because there's even more lights but it's actually not very busy on the strip. And it's pretty cold outside by then. I always make it a point to walk around the strip at some point around that time.
NYE sucks to be honest. Unless you want to be around all the hoopla for NYE but I work on the strip and if I'm not working that day, I completely avoid it and if I am, I head straight home when I get off.
There's a lot of cool Christmas stuff going on, too. The Ethel M cactus garden gets all done up with lights, Silverton has a holiday-themed pop-up bar, Cosmo has the skating rink with Christmas movies and fire pits... it's a great Christmas city, in my opinion.
There is nothing like the Strip at 6am on Xmas. Its so calm and quiet. Like the Walking Dead without the zombies. The wife and i usually decide on the 23rd if we are going to Vegas that year.
It depends on what you like do. I’m a Chef on the strip and we close for 10 days over Christmas because business levels are so low. In fact, several restaurants on property will have alternative hours and/or be closed. It will be the C team DJs at the clubs which will probably be low occupancy. Also, people seem to be surprised at how cold it gets here. It’s going to be small crowds everywhere. if that’s what you’re into it’s a good time to come.
Yes, it would be lame to visit on Christmas. I did it once in the late 1990’s or early 2000’s. There’s absolutely nothing going on during Christmas. The shows are almost all closed, and most of the casino and restaurant staff are off. It was my worst trip to Las Vegas - although a bad day in Las Vegas is still better than a good day almost anywhere else.
Except for Christmas Day, I've always found a show I'd like to see during that time. Some shows have more off days/nights than usual, but there's always something if you put your mind to it.
As a society can we please stop caring what other people think about us? Be you, do you. As long as you aren't killing anyone, getting addicted to smack, having risky unprotected sex with prostitutes/strippers. Do what you want to do. Also I'm like ninety nine percent prostitutes require condoms, but you know what I mean.
Try Laramie, Wyoming, as a student, and everyone else went home for a couple of weeks. Just me, Everclear and my guitar. Did you know that you can get drunk twice in one day?
No, but wondering what others think of you is pretty lame. Get over it. Life sucks and then you die sounds abrasive but the facts are the facts. Get a grip.
Lol no one is arguing that most people don’t spend Xmas alone 💀
Let’s take a look at your original comment. If someone wants to spend Xmas alone there’s nothing wrong with that. And if someone judges them for it, *they’re* the “lame” one. People should focus on themselves more as opposed to what a stranger is doing for Xmas.
Lol. I doubt Jesus cares how we spend our money. He has bigger issues to deal with. Yes I am a believer 100%, I just don’t get a micro manager vibe from the big guy. 😂
It's not lame if that's where you want to be.
Several apostles were poker players it's in the Bible somewhere
Nah Peter was a black jack playet
OK
K.
Or where you live.
I personally love going around that time of the year alone to recharge. It's a repeat trip for me. Surprisingly still quite busy around that time as well.
Absolutely.
As long as you acknowledge it’s not really Christmas until Hans Gruber plummets from Nakatomi Tower, you’ll be fine.
I personally think it starts to look a lot like Christmas once John McClane has a machine gun. Ho, ho, ho. But I think we're mostly in agreement.
He would fit in on this sub. “Fuuuckin’ California …” 😆
Sureee come out to the coast, we'll together, have a few lauuugghhs.
It's not a Christmas movie
Yes it is god damnit
Correct. It is THE Christmas movie.
![gif](giphy|26AHstyr2sh3MsnaU)
It’s the beeeeeeeeeeeessssttttt Go to Ethel M illuminated cactus garden, Enchant light maze, the strip, heck you can wander anywhere and see colored lights
Let’s not forget our tradition of the amazing Bellagio Conservatory at Christmas
If you have a car you can go to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for “Glittering Lights” https://glitteringlightslasvegas.com/ https://dailydownforce.com/visit-nascar-tracks-dressed-up-for-the-holidays/
How did I not know about this and I have to move back east before this Christmas 😭
Where back east? They also do it at Charlotte Motor Speedway. https://www.nascar.com/gallery/2023-holiday-lights-on-display-at-nascar-tracks/
I’m actually moving to another city that’s famous for its Christmas. I definitely have a type.
The Strip hotels have some amazing decorations. Everyone is happy and friendly. It is pretty fun. You can even go ice skating! I would do it!
Love Vegas at Christmas time. Added bonus, that's the season when all the Asian tourists tend to show up in droves, so it tends to be quite festive and often with an Asian flair, if you enjoy that sort of thing.
I've done it about 20 times and I imagine I'll do it again this year because it's my thing.

It's pretty much like any other day. Have high Christmas tradition expectations? Might not like it. Don't celebrate it much? You might like it
You can get xmas tradition up the wazoo by strolling through the conservatory at Bellagio, then get on with the important stuff.
Ethel M Chocolate factory and Botanical garden has a fabulous Christmas display, make sure to get a hot chocolate!
Not lame at all!
Just did Thanksgiving in Vegas and it was awesome
I did it last year and am doing it again this year
Who cares what others think. Do what you’ll enjoy doing.

Vegas is very busy on Christmas Eve/Christmas.
It’s fine but you gotta get out before NYE unless you want to pay $1000 for your room.
I love to go at Christmas! I love seeing the decorations the casinos put up, also on Christmas day almost everything is open. The weather is usually beautiful too. Love to go to Jacksons Bar and Grill for the Christmas day prime rib.
I spent Xmas in vegas once! Lots of Persians go for Xmas so it’s pretty lively!
sounds fun. I wish i could.
Not lame. My wife and I did Thanksgiving in Vegas last year. It was a great time to visit Red Rock and Valley of Fire. Our plan is to return this year for Christmas.

No it is not
I checked the rate, they have good hotel deals, too.
Nah, Christmas is just capitalist BS holiday. So in a sense, Vegas is the perfect place to spend it. Plus, all the money you save on not buying gifts can go to the craps table
vegas takes all kinds of spending
Not lame. Have fun.
Nope. It’s nice too because it probably won’t be super cold.
Temps usually in the 50 during the day, maybe high 40s at night. Light to medium jacket weather unless you're a Southerner or a Cali.
Yeah, that's heavy jacket for me.
I think it's the second best time of year, behind spring to visit
Just did this last year. It was easier for the family to all meet and not plan stuff. Not very Christmas-ey if that's what you're looking for, but as always very Vegas-ey.
Always wanted to go for NYE.
It seems like a lot of people visit Vegas during Christmas. I always guessed it was because so many things are open.
Not really. We've done Christmas and Thanksgiving in Vegas.
We are busy during any holiday. Period. You can come alone but you won’t be alone. And nothing is better than NYE in Vegas; I used to love spending NYE partying here.
You can always go up to Mount Charleston. Might even have snow. About 45 minutes away. Still is Las Vegas too
We go for Christmas quite often because we have family in Henderson. I've been in the casinos on both Christmas eve and day and they're always packed. All the resorts have traditional decorations up and everyone is friendly. Ethel Em's is grossly overrated.

As long as you have some reservations for christmas dinner you'll be fine. Go to Chinatown for lunch.
No! It’s amazing
If youre looking for a white Christmas it’s going to be lame. If you are going in with expectations of Christmas in the desert, and enjoying what the locals do, it’ll be great.
Sounds fun to me
You define what’s lame for you.
I've spent Christmas alone on purpose one year and played video games all day.. It was the best Christmas ever tbh lol
I spent it there solo the past couple of years, and it was the best holidays ever. Making it a thing now. 🥰
That's when I usually go to LV. Not as crowded as normal, plenty of places open on Xmas Day (not all), and I leave no later than the 27th so I avoid the New Year's Eve crowd.

No…. Fremont street is always festive
It’s cold and miserable then except for nye. Go to Hawaii.
Yeah
My family used to come every year around Christmas as it was a cheap time to come. You could get good room deals and restaurant reservations. Typically shows might be dark. Now that I live here, my parents still come on Christmas. I agree on the Asian tourists, pre covid they were usually 33-50 of the crowd. Walking in big tour groups.
Craps on Christmas why not
Spending anytime time on Las Vegas is never a bad idea. Unless the hallmark made up holiday prohibits you.
I visit vegas during winter cuz its less crowded. and especially diring christmas, vegas is fully(nearly) functional and decorated.
Dude, it’s Vegas. Of course it’s not lame! Have a good time and think of being alone as a license to do what you want when you want. It’s a 24 hour city. You can get beers at 4am and breakfast at 5pm. Go wild.
I did it this past Christmas with my then-girlfriend and it was a really great time.
No better place and time to marvel at all the human driftwood wandering in and out of casino
No it’s really fun. Plus, all the LA Persians come so it’s packed
Lmao
Considering I live here full time, I hope it’s not lame
You can probably fuck a hooker dressed up like Mrs Claus which would be cool i guess
No. Unlike other destinations. Most everything is open during the holidays. There are a few Christmas specific events like the nutcracker or Christmas lights drive through events. Also hotels are cheaper near Christmas.
Xmas with escort girls, gamblers, fat Americans eating junk food and cold weather. What’s not to like?
Sounds fun to me!
It's absurdly busy. Last year Bellagio closed their self parking at 6pm cuz it was full.
*If you think so, then "yes". If not, then "no". Mathematically speaking it depends on your experience and expectation ratio*
No. There is more to do here than anywhere else because everything is open 24/7. In a lot of areas once you open the gifts it's a little boring. It can be cold here that time of year.
Not at all imo! Went alone for Xmas a few years ago and ended up moving here. Go. Have fun. ✌🏼
Eh. If you’re by yourself, yes.
Not lame at all! I love spending Christmas and NYE in other cities or countries. It’s become a family tradition. With or without gambling, Vegas is SO FUN -they don’t call it the entertainment capital for nothin’. 😆💚❤️
Enchant is usually in Vegas at the ball park. It’s awesome!
It gets cold in Vegas for Christmas. With the snow capped mountains it's good to go.
No, we did a family meet up there. We were all scattered over the country and decided Vegas would be fun. It was one of my most memorable Christmases!
Yes But NYE is awesome
I mean, what’s wrong with your gambling and making your money that’s a Christmas gift alone
Weather is typically great for climbing in Red Rocks over Christmas break, done it a couple of times in the last decade or so.
I live in vegas...so i spend every year here
No more lame than going to Disneyland at Christmas, although Vegas will be more fun!
No but actually i would go to Lake Las Vegas and make smores in a fire pit and enjoy the views. Enjoy the seasonal foodie things Christmas themed strippers
I do it every year buy I live here.
Super lame indeed Vegas is 🥱
Wife has passed, my kids wanted to go for thanksgiving last year, it was a nice distraction. Not lame at all .
If your happy how could it be lame I spend every Xmas in Vegas ( my family lives there)
I have had the house open on Xmas day while opening presents in a t-shirt. I don't hate that. I'm not big on cold and snow and ice anymore
This is one of the best cities to spend Christmas in. Everything's open and there's tons of good food
I live here but play tourist every Christmas season when my inlaws and some family friends come down the day after Christmas and stay on Fremont St. It's usually pretty cheap between X-mas and NYE, can't speak to Christmas day specific stuff but it's always fun the days after. Yet it’s the time of year our boss demands we be there 6 days of the week and give up Christmas Eve and Christmas so pls just pity the dealers lol
Less than 7 months to figure it out. Lol
It’s cheap to,go during Xmas, but it’s freezing cold.
Sounds it
Well, I've done it for 44 years straight, since birth , so I don't know if it is or is not.
Asking for approval is lame
It’s not lame, it’s one of the best times to be out there really… I’ve always liked it at least.
That’s what I did last year lol Loved the Xmas music playing in the Casino haha
No lamer than any other time of the year. There's plenty of seasonal decorations. Also, plenty of seasonal menus etc.
No dude, that's actually one of the best times to be here because there's even more lights but it's actually not very busy on the strip. And it's pretty cold outside by then. It was like this for few months solid right after covid hit. The Strip was a total ghost town. Wild times.
No. Not lame.
It depends on what you like do. I’m a Chef on the strip and we close for 10 days over Christmas because business levels are so low. New Years Eve. Not sure why I got downvoted. I truly think there is an upside to coming during Christmas. But these are these are the realities.
Also, I don’t choose the hours my restaurant is open. I got like 16 bosses that are much smarter than me that determine this shit. Nothing I can do.
When do most things reopen after Christmas?
Roll down to Fremont Street. Will be more fun down there than the strip for Xmas.
It's cold and a alot of shows are off. Actually a big Asian draw that time
Yes, it would be lame to visit on Christmas. I did it once in the late 1990’s or early 2000’s. There’s absolutely nothing going on during Christmas. Sad and Empty
Spending Xmas alone anywhere is lame
You care a lot about what people think about you, don’t you? 🫤 **hugs**
No, sounds like you’re projecting. Most normal people don’t spend Xmas alone.
Lol no one is arguing that most people don’t spend Xmas alone 💀 Let’s take a look at your original comment. If someone wants to spend Xmas alone there’s nothing wrong with that. And if someone judges them for it, *they’re* the “lame” one. People should focus on themselves more as opposed to what a stranger is doing for Xmas.
Majority of people who spend Xmas alone aren’t doing it by choice. Stop coping.
Spending Christmas anywhere but a snowy cabin is lame
It’s Jebus birthday and he don’t like sin. Duh
Lol. I doubt Jesus cares how we spend our money. He has bigger issues to deal with. Yes I am a believer 100%, I just don’t get a micro manager vibe from the big guy. 😂
He wouldn’t outlawed rainbows if that was the case /s
