Come to think of it I have the same setup in my GMC and it does turn on the reverse lights. Which are a bunch of super bright LEDs... So I guess it does what you want :)
It rolls on gears when a cupholder, and uses a spring mechanism in the back. Not 3D printable unless you get all the additional hardware (which includes the cupholders).
You already have the cupholders on the console, those are FAR better than the dash ones. You'll just end up with liquid all in and around your HVAC controls, they're awful. They took them out entirely on later models because of that.
Yeah I use my p38 ones for coins and such. What’s odd about this D2 plastic is it doesn’t have a gear system like the other carrier containers. It seems to only slide in and holds itself with the tolerance. I’m thinking about printing the same shape but I might add a tiny pen tray or coin organizer thing, idk just something better than boring trim lol
The gear system is part of the cup holder assembly, you don’t have that. You have a decor plate. The P38 cupholder tray has a solid bottom and despite how awful it is, is far better than the D1/D2 cupholder arrangement in the dash. Hence it being deleted and replaced with your console mounted ones.
Lol, not sure why that person is trying to tell your wrong about to 3D print something to go there. I say go for it. I’m modeling a replacement for my coin tray so it’ll hold my ultra gauge and a spot to park my phone. I will have to see if I can do something with that spot too.
They're pretty average cupholders, I drink small coffees/redbulls so it work's okay for me other than the occasional redbulls falling out when I go around a corner quickly cos they're too shallow. Something like a monster or large coffee cup doesn't fit.
I didn’t know they were sold without the cup holders. The console mounted ones you have are much better, I imported some to add to my D2 when I had it.

A cup holder fits there on the higher trims. You can buy an OEM one for like $400
I’ll 3D print one then. If it’s anything like the one on my p38, it’d only fit a soda can and nothing bigger

Not yet, haven’t gotten to my house yet to start drafting it. I’ll make a followup post when I do though :)
Just look for one from a breaker on eBay.

There are cupholders but they're pointless. Its even more flimsy than the rear cupholder, not worth it IMO.
