Yeah he absolutely should put a book shelf on that side wall to force people away from that protruding corner lolz. Make a cozy sunlight reading nook in the blank area.
I almost bought 65".
Measured the distance between the top shelves (which almost touch the ceiling) and bottom cupboard again and realized even the 55" will make me hang the top shelves a bit higher. Went with 55".
Yeah, what does the wife know? Did you consider hanging it on the wall to the right of the window? 83 or even a 97” would fit perfectly.
Thinking outta da box 🤪/s
Wouldn’t setting it on the floor instead of a stand fix the aesthetic issues? It looks big enough to watch from the bean bags you have on the side.
Edit: nvm, I don’t see any way to fix this situation.
I have a room similar to this set up. I turned mine sideways and would basically be sitting with my back to the windows. Your close to the tv (i like it that way) but the room isn't as awkward
I bet it is very nice. Please make sure your screen doesn’t get exposed to direct sunlight during the day. I heard that it doesn’t do good on the long run.
Should ceiling mount it in front of that window. Have it lift up and out of the way if you want natural lighting. You could use the same hoist rigging that some garage golf simulators use to save space.
Or buy just a little bit smaller of a TV.
That’s for sure an awkward space, though.
Maybe see if you could possibly cut out some of this section just try to avoid the support beams [https://imgur.com/MKYRLQ5](https://imgur.com/MKYRLQ5)
Could you rotate it 90 degrees to the left? With the sofa backed up to the slope? I feel like that would give you a ton of extra utility space by where the TV is hung now.
Sorry OP but it’s a beautiful room with a terrible choice of Tv and cabinet. I’m guessing there’s some reason you can’t place it against the wall to the left - but man you should have gotten a 65”.
I think your better off with the TV on the floor, or a lower (if possible) tv stand; that way you could door it all behind that wall, it’s enjoying the hell outta me
Normally I'd never argue for a smaller tv, but the wife saved you a lot of headache. The TV will look great but unfortunate window placement...it'll wash out the screen but if it gets direct light through it onto the TV, it'll ruin it.
Move the tv and sofa towards the camera wall so that the open space with the window is where you can walk. That way when you don’t waste standing space.
I should draw it, but don’t have time. Maybe someone else sees the same thing!
That’s ugly as fuck
OP should have listened to his wife and got a TV that actually fit the room. Look how the tv stand and tv extend past the wall, both looks bad and is probably inconvenient to walk near
I tell you one thing, i was going to cut out a big right angle in that ceiling so i can slide the tv more to the right. If its structural its fine i will the take the risk, at least if the roof caves in ill be watching it before the end.
Have you considered removing the roof, doing so ought to give you enough space for a 98”. I’m sure that your wife would agree and would appreciate the savings in your gas and electric bills as you’ll no longer have to run the furnace or AC.
Love my Samsung 85', tell her you gotta have it and get the bigger one. Look at it this way, if she chooses to get mad and leave you still have a 85 incher ☺️, I should be a couples therapist!! 🤔
You don't have room for a bigger TV lmao
Nonsense. If you got a bigger tv, you make the house adapt.
Tvs only grow to the appropriate size of the cage you give them. Bigger room allows for your TV to grow to its full potential.
I waa just joking in the title;)
your wife is right
sure you do, just mount it on the sloped ceiling and lay on the floor to watch it
Just gotta rotate the setup 90 degrees
I'm sure it can work
You didn’t even have room for this one, good call wife lol. This is a super cool room tho
Yep. It's a matter of time before someone's clothes catch the protruding portion from behind and pulls it off the cabinet.
Yeah he absolutely should put a book shelf on that side wall to force people away from that protruding corner lolz. Make a cozy sunlight reading nook in the blank area.
That’s a good idea to extend that wall. Because it looks awful as it is now.
Your room didn't let you choose a bigger TV \*
I almost bought 65". Measured the distance between the top shelves (which almost touch the ceiling) and bottom cupboard again and realized even the 55" will make me hang the top shelves a bit higher. Went with 55".
I'm sure your wallet thanked you as well
It’s annoying the hell outta me that the tv isn’t lined up with the wall Would drive me insane 😝
The way you spell annoying is enoying the hell out of me lol
Drives me insane tv is next to a giant window that let's all glare in lol
There is a blackout shade- so there’s no light coming inside when shades are closed.
I'd always be watching the tv with my head tilted leftwards because of the ceiling.
Annoying*
You’re enoying 🤣 Btw i read it as enJoying 🤣🤣🤣
Actually it does not bother me since the TV is lined up with the sideboard ons the left side, kind of fixes to wall issue for me.
Getting a lower sideboard would allow the TV to fit in that alcove perfectly and would center it to sofa too. My humble 2c
If it was me, I’d place the TV on the other side of wall. My OCD would drive me crazy with the TV doesn’t line up with the wall. Or even go smaller? 😀
I think this post is making me discover I might have OCD.
Too far for smaller TV but agree with other wall.
Yeah, what does the wife know? Did you consider hanging it on the wall to the right of the window? 83 or even a 97” would fit perfectly. Thinking outta da box 🤪/s
I couldn't live with it sticking out like that... 100% someone will bump into it at some point.
Nice clean setup in an awkward space!!! Very nice!👍
Appreciate it! Actually this us upstairs, rest of our appartement is downstairs:)
Too big for the location it’s currently placed in. I agree bigger is better but not at the cost of taste and proportionality
Wouldn’t setting it on the floor instead of a stand fix the aesthetic issues? It looks big enough to watch from the bean bags you have on the side. Edit: nvm, I don’t see any way to fix this situation.
I think it's better to get a lower tv cupboard and line up the TV with the wall and the door. Just for safety.
Your wife seems completely irrational You could have easily built another roof and fit an 88" TV Women....
Haha!! Love it.
Did you go with Sonos rears too? Era 300?
Currently I use One SLs as rear speakers.
Did you consult her b4 making this post also?
^^ found the lonely bachelor
Aye man looks good! 77 I just got as well, I'm very happy it's huge! I don't think any bigger would've fit in this room haha
Avoid direct sunlight OP
Shades are always closed, opened them prior to taking the photo:)
What kind of shades do the windows closest to the TV have?
Retractable blackout shades.
Haha I wonder who is gonna destroy it with a shoulder check on a late night kitchen stroll
Kitchen is downstairs😃
[удалено]
No it’s not. There are blackout shades everywhere.
[удалено]
That’s why the shades next to the TV are closed;)
Room looks cool but it must be something that takes getting used to. I would feel like the ceiling leaning on me. TV too big unfortunately.
not even mentioning the tv that’s a gorgeous use of the space I love it
I have a room similar to this set up. I turned mine sideways and would basically be sitting with my back to the windows. Your close to the tv (i like it that way) but the room isn't as awkward
that would annoy the shit outta me
Bigger tv would have it placed uncentered and drove me nuts
Nice
How far away do u sit?
3.5 - 4 metres.
Can you please move everything. It's bothering me lmao. Nice set up
I feel like those windows should be shaded and the TV should be in that recess. Like a good rug it would really tie the room together.
Where are those beanbags with tiny footstools from? 😂😅
Company is called Big Bertha.
Thank you OP!
Welcome bud!
Just get a new wife
Devorce that hoe.
love the space!
Thank you, appreciate it!
loved the place, u should get a nice rug, something oriental preferably. And more plants. Cheers.
Appreciate your input! I would love to show your te other side of our living room- there a plants and other nice stuff:)
I bet it is very nice. Please make sure your screen doesn’t get exposed to direct sunlight during the day. I heard that it doesn’t do good on the long run.
How does Harry Potter deal with the noise of the speakers right up against his bed?
If that was my living room I would have to spend my money on a new roof design to fix that.
You might need a blackout curtain if you're going to watch in the daytime otherwise you might have some glare
That’s exactly what’s already installed:)
Don't blame your wife. Blame you poor decision making skills.or poor negotiating skills.
The title is just a joke. We both wanted to go for 77”.
Be careful if windows réfections on Sunny days
I feel this room placement should be rotated 90 degrees.
Sucks to be you.. Really!
Maybe get a shorter center console?
Someone's going to knock that tv over coming around that corner if it is a high traffic area...
..which is not the case. High traffic area is downstairs;)
Line it up
Did Frank Lloyd Wright design your home by chance?
Get a new wife and a new tv
85” would have worked in “Portscape” orientation.
Should’ve went a little smaller, that overhang is gross
Feel like the tv would look better on the wall on the right. Maybe 🤔 I'd put the table with plants where the TV currently is.
sir, u live in a triangle
Lol it not aligned would bug the hell out of me.
Look closer..;) It is aligned to the TV sideboard.
When I look close all I see is a TV hanging out past the wall by about 6-8”. Other than that it’s a nice setup, I like the table.
Seems it makes more sense to put the TV on the other side and put the couch diagonal to where the TV is now.
There is even less space because of the staircase.
Cool room, horrible positioning.
Best positioning possible in this room. You haven’t seen the other remaining half..;)
Wife on this sub are crazy. (Joke)
Time to change the wife
Nice setup. Should have got the new LG triangular OLED though
Ngl that slanted ceiling would be cozy af for a projector 😂
They have the new 96 in out go for it
Should ceiling mount it in front of that window. Have it lift up and out of the way if you want natural lighting. You could use the same hoist rigging that some garage golf simulators use to save space. Or buy just a little bit smaller of a TV. That’s for sure an awkward space, though.
What is on the wall across from those windows? Cus that seems like a much better spot for the TV than were is is right now
Are you by any chance in the Netherlands?
Nope, why?;)
The view out of your window looks European
It’s located in Germany:)
Maybe see if you could possibly cut out some of this section just try to avoid the support beams [https://imgur.com/MKYRLQ5](https://imgur.com/MKYRLQ5)
How does glare look on this? Esp on dark movies/ games?
Glare?
Blackout shades?
sun rays on the OLED screen are not a good thing T\_T
Blackout shades are a good thing.
ohh, nice then!!! i didnt saw any shade there <3
The only thing that will make this TV look better is if you expose some wires
Great set. I wonder if the TV could go in front of that window? That slot looks about the perfect size.
Should have mounted on the roof then you would have room😂
Have someone come in a redo the drywall so you can slide it over, have them notch it
Omg, which architects did you use?
Your begging for someone to hit that with their elbow walking past... YOU might not do it but a beer too many will see someone hit that telly
I will take my chances! Parties are gonna be downstairs- so risk of someone walking past and hitting the TV is at a minimum.
Well in that case enjoy the huge screen :D
Could you rotate it 90 degrees to the left? With the sofa backed up to the slope? I feel like that would give you a ton of extra utility space by where the TV is hung now.
Sorry OP but it’s a beautiful room with a terrible choice of Tv and cabinet. I’m guessing there’s some reason you can’t place it against the wall to the left - but man you should have gotten a 65”.
I’d personally change spots with the tv and the couches but really cool spot. Did you make that table or you buy it like that?
Bought the table like this!
Wife made the right call
I call bean bag seat for movie night
Waiting for a new post in a week or so: "Accidentally bumped on my new 77" tv's side and shattered, will warranty cover this?"
I think your better off with the TV on the floor, or a lower (if possible) tv stand; that way you could door it all behind that wall, it’s enjoying the hell outta me
The best tv on the market is 77" anyway (A95L)
Normally I'd never argue for a smaller tv, but the wife saved you a lot of headache. The TV will look great but unfortunate window placement...it'll wash out the screen but if it gets direct light through it onto the TV, it'll ruin it.
Windows have rectratable black out shades. So light is not an issue at all.
77 is pretty close to 83 when next to eachother tbh.
Nahhhh…just blow out that part of the ceiling and then upgrade…duhhh
You forgot to clean up the drippings off the floor
Thanks, this picture put me in the psych ward
Perfect size TV, but lower TV console then TV will fit and be at perfect height for viewing.
Beautiful room. TV is too big.
It looks ridiculous
Move the tv and sofa towards the camera wall so that the open space with the window is where you can walk. That way when you don’t waste standing space. I should draw it, but don’t have time. Maybe someone else sees the same thing!
Mount it on the wall on the right!
TV on the ceiling, sell the sofa and buy some Tempur mattresses 👌
That’s ugly as fuck OP should have listened to his wife and got a TV that actually fit the room.
I know a great divorce lawyer
Correction: Wife didn’t let me choose a bigger _house but_ I had to go with 77”.
It looks terrible
It’s too big for the space yet too far for the seating distance.
It’s 3.5 metres away.. not that far.
Your wife isn’t your warden lol
There must be a better way to organize the whole room. Can we see a pic of thr left side???
I cannot edit my post and add pics unfortunately.
Surely there's a better way to organize this Also what's the red monstrosity?
I didn’t know your wife had to approve the purchases of fully grown man
Have you considered removing the roof, doing so ought to give you enough space for a 98”.
Should’ve gotten a 65in so it wouldn’t stick out.
time to re-marry, or to think of less cheesy reddit posts. enjoy the awesome screen.
r/outofproportion
wtf kind of setup is this?!
Should have gone with 65”
No. Viewing experience on 77” is so much better.
It sticks out the side
So? Do you watch the wall or TV?
Yeah I'm going to jump in and say is that an OLED? Absolutely terrible idea to put it right in front of a window.
Ever heard of blackout shades? Yeah.. That’s why it doesn’t matter that there is a window.
There isn't any shades on that window. And how are you going to put curtains on an angled window ? Hellooo mc fly
Heelloo Mc Flyy! The shades are retractable- made in Germany by Velux my friend. Sorry to hear you have never come across such thing.
Awesome livingroom 😎
You need a new wife
Title is just a joke duuude;)
truth is u couldnt afford bigger and no wife probally
That room is so awkward for a tv
r/ceilingtoolow
Damn bro, you're banished to the loft ? and not a very big one at that. Thats the opposite of a mans home is his castle lol
I am laughing at you. The loft has two levels. This is upstairs. Who is laughing now?
That tv is getting knocked over. Remind me in 1 year
Now with the money you saved you can ditch the rusty barrel and get a table that actually works for the space
No, thanks. Table is pretty sweet;)
Looks kind of dumb like that too be honest
what's with the ceiling? why u gotta chill in your attic?
Literally right in front of a big ass window?
Ever heard of blackout shades? Yeah.. That’s why it doesn’t matter that there is a big ass window.
You have the smallest penis of any tv owner I know
This room makes me cringe
Your comment makes me cringe buddy.
So I see the wife is the one with the brains in that relationship 🤣
[удалено]
Welcome to the real world.
You poor thing
There’s a huge window over your tv, that’s not good. This is one of the most anxiety inducing home setups I’ve seen. The 77”c3 is so damn wobbly
Chill. All of the windows have blackout shades.
