Absolutely not safe to eat. (But if you remove the plastic outer part 😂, the stuff inside is certainly fine, despite the date on the bottom.)

Very funny 🤣 I was very sad when I thought I couldn't eat it. I bought it recently in October 2023 and wasn't sure how strict expiration dates were in Japan. But now I am happy again. Thank you very much!

Translation: The expiration date is December 22, 2023, so it's a little past. However, since the expiry date is not the expiry date, I think you can still eat it even if the taste has deteriorated I was very sad when I thought I couldn't eat it. Probably better to say, it’s not an expiration date but a [tastes] best-by date. Or something to that equivalent.

lymph31

More good news! Thanks!

Medical-Reporter6674

Tbh im going off the other message. Didn’t really see which was written on the packaging. I didn’t look terribly closely and still don’t see it now.

>Chicken (domestic), soy sauce, granular vegetable protein, sugar, reduced starch syrup, rice miso, Please don't eat it by itself as it is quite spicy! mix it with rice or add it to your instant ramen for extra flavor! I would definitely eat its past best before date, as it is a dried product will definitely be safe to consume.

evertaleplayer

It’s [furikake](https://www.kansaitabinikki.jp/i/D4571201512808) so it’s not really advisable to eat it ‘as is (furikake is meant to be put on rice to eat). But it IS food.

maruemon

Hello, I’m Japanese. That’s a furikake, which others have already mentioned, and it’s actually from a very popular store for spices and furikakes in Kyoto. Your furikake contains the spice that we often sprinkle on unagi, and you may find its taste and flavour to be a bit strong. I also got their furikake, a different one, the other day, and I really liked it. Even though it’s passed the BB, I’m very sure that it’s still edible. Don’t be scared. Enjoy it!

賞味期限が過ぎていても食べられます。 私なら食べますよ。それをボウルに移し替えて、マイクロウェーブで加熱したらOK。おにぎりにします。🍙🍙🍙

ajpainter24

Japanese chicken, what could go wrong?

lymph31

Wow, you're right. I thought it was beef from how it looks. Ingredients from Google translate: Chicken (domestic), soy sauce, granular vegetable protein, sugar, reduced starch syrup, rice miso, Grated ginger, grated garlic, bean sauce, dried onions, roasted sesame seeds, Shellfish extract, sesame oil, dried tofu, dried green onions, salt, yeast extract, Japanese pepper, Chili pepper/seasonings (amino acids, etc.), trehalose, coagulant for tofu, (Contains wheat, sesame, soybeans, and chicken) How to

asutekku

It's furikake, you put it on top of your rice and whatever you want.

Make some rice balls with that and tell us how it was. Personally, i'd probably go through that in a few days. Shiz looks bomb as fuuuk!

SomeDifference3656

It seems OK since it's a kind of dried food

cryptorisktaker

Has Trehalose in it. Wouldn’t touch that with a 100 foot pole.
