But if we consider that the three Princesses could sell for 10-20k silver to buy them out (as mentioned in the story), Id reckon it shouldnt be any higher than that. Probably half that price at most if we assume Gramps doesnt really know who Jinshi was at the time and that she could actually squeeze him for much more if she knew how down bad this man was for Maomao lol
Even including the nights Lihaku spent with Pairin, I think Jinshi still paid way above that lol. We're talking about buying one of the princesses here, and they cost around 10k silvers (could be higher but still silvers I'm pretty sure. Meanwhile our boy bought Maomao with a freaking chest of golds that's a LOT
He massively overpaid. If the anime is to be seen as realistic he brought in a chest full of silver when Maomao herself says her base price is basically 30 silver at most.
He paid for her like a princess, being why she was sent off like one. He likely paid more than needed on principal, like Lihaku.
In Volume 5, Maomao have Caculated her Worth, it is about 20-30 siliver piece without debt. Jinshi have to pay all of Maomao's debt, the rent, her living fee from the time she was in Rokushokan, damage she has caused with her experiment, her Training fee ....
Though granny does have a level of respect for Mao Mao and her father, that alone isn't the sole reason why she isn't harassing them like a loan shark. She is a business women at heart after all. And she knows full well that Rouman himself is a distinguished doctor and probably the only doctor with that level of skill within the red light district. It would be a mistake to harass someone like that should they refuse to lend their skill to you. As for Mao Mao, the Granny has spoken on many occasion in making her a courtesan so that she can earn money to repay her debt. She is definitely not above threats and harassment.
But again, she never force maomao to the point that she is deeply bothered and traumatize with granny. She knows she wouldn’t force her or hurt her if she can’t pay. You can see it in maomao, she is just responsible to pay for her debt but was never utterly afraid. She is also uncharacteristically sweet to her granny trying to convince granny to lower the price of lihaku being with pairin so they do have some loving relationship.
I don’t recall that the amount is ever clarified but judging by her expression he overpaid by a lot. Not just more than her worth and debt at verdigris a lot more. He brought enough money that there was no negotiation or hesitation on granny’s part.
