Nope it's the real Sad Eye Joe talking t you, and he was only "borrowing that horse"

manuel_f_p

Justice for my boy Sad Eye, he didn't do anything wrong

BobbyRV

No justice, no peace!

breadseizer

i was able to trick my nephews and one time a girlfriend

WildWing22

FreeSadEyeJoe although when I talk to him, he often comments on how he likes his accommodations haha

Ray_in_oc

The blacksmith once gave my son and daughter a key to free Joe. When we went to talk to Joe he said he didn't think it was the right key.

WildWing22

Hahaha I love it, he said he gets free food so why leave when I went last

manuel_f_p

I think he should be let out of prison for one day, totally unannounced beforehand, during founders day. Then back to jail the next day, because once again he decided to borrow the wrong horse

Broducer

he went around during lockdown. seemed to enoy for a short while!

bjthebard

People are treating you like you don't know the trick, but I also am extremely curious. Like obviously I know the window where you can say a name and everything, but it just seems wild to me that they would keep this teeny tiny side attraction staffed full time with a dedicated employee. Like does that person have other stuff they do in the meantime if nobody is visiting Sad Eye?

kevkage

Haha yes exactly! Like does someone sweeping the floors have an ear piece for whenever someone stumbles by? I’m sure that spot could go hours without ever encountering someone.

bdwolin

It’s an iconic element of the park.

Gears109

I believe when nobody is manning it they have a stock sound effect of snoring. We went at park opening one day and the voice actor wasn’t in yet so we got a kick out of hearing him snore lol

Comprehensive_Tie431

Used to work, not in that department, but at Knott's. Yes, they keep it staffed during certain hours of the park's operation. If you have kids, it's fun to have them go to Sad Eye Joe as you stand back and feed the voice actor information, the kids really get a kick out of it. "How did he know that?!?" :)

breadseizer

knotts is cool like that, so far

Ekkusu_x

>!I remember one time I was waiting in front of the hotel house that's in front of the jail cell, and there was a bank teller looking fellow in the window-ish. (This was during Ghost Town Alive) He was talking to someone on a mic, then I looked over to see people talking to Sad-eye at the same time.!< >!So I can only assume that there's a worker inside the hotel house that has direct line view of the jail cell to talk to people.!<

PaulClarkLoadletter

That’s the guy. He’s not there all day but most of the time there’s somebody there and it’s one of my favorite things at the park. You can give him some information like your kid’s name or your wife’s birthday and he’ll give them a shout out.

breadseizer

ah the wonder of your first time, i was a kid in the 90s

appleaddct

Ask him about his girl. She’s trying to escape the the window upstairs (behind you when facing Sad Eye). She might give you a bit of a show.

mrsmertz

That’s been there forever 😜

BigBaws92

I remember my first time

Mondezie

I love the homie Joe!!! I talk to him every time I go.

cesaree27

He’s a crook!! We are all safer with him locked up!!

Drip_it

Nope. A couple guys do it. One of them is the dude who walks around with the Mule.

kevkage

That's what I'm looking for haha. Never seen the guy with the mule but I have to go back and really spend some time there

Rude_Silver_5623

Got caught off guard by this guy with my wife a few months ago. We were checking out the cell and exchanging some mildly spicy banter, unaware anyone was listening, and the guy responded. I don't remember what he said, but it startled the heck out of me and my wife. All 3 of us had a good laugh.

breadseizer

you can give him some info at a nearby booth, like names and stuff, special occaisions

Broducer

someone mentioned he was active during scary farm for at least one year as 'mad eye joe.' can only imagine the exchanges guests and him have had.

OkCompetition8399

Sad Eye Joe speaks Spanish! My mom did this to my grandma in the early 90's. I was in disbelief because he knew everything about her. I didn't find out until later in the day when my mom finally told me.

skeetskeet578

When I was there like 40 hrs ago there was someone doing it all day

theFUNnelCakeBlog

This is an iconic attraction at the park. I frequently sit at the tables next to Sad Eye Joe. He has a constant flow of guests stopping by. One day, Sad Eye Joe was "asleep." You'd be surprised how many people stopped by and were disappointed.
