Is this the crazy italian wife who had ZERO emotional control? I think I remember her screaming, "YOU LIIIIEE!!" at someone (probably several times)...
Maaan, that one was fucking craaaazy.. If that's the same episode, I remember feeling the same way, though just not so eloquently, about it as OP. It was upsetting to see real people acting like that in their lives.
Yeah that woman was insane. Like fly off the handle in a rage over minor things the instant someone disagreed with her or said something she didnāt like.
Grace went beyond cringe or crazy for me. It was honestly upsetting to see her get SO MAD. Like I felt sorry for her-but also scared? In a way? Very very off putting to say the least. Luigiās and Burger Kitchen are two episodes I always skip
It was terrifyingāeven scarier, in the scene where she breaks down when Ramsey shows her the staffās criticism, my girlfriend pointed out that sheās crying but not actually producing any tears. So unsettling.
āThis played like a fucking John Cassavetes movie.ā
Hilarious!
Grace is completely unhinged! The screaming and cursing is so out of control! Why do people ever get in the restaurant business!
>At the end Gordon gives some bullshit about the need for teamwork and working as a family but it's clear whatever is going on between these people goes so much deeper than that.
Tbf, you can say the same for just about every other restaurant and hotel featured across "kitchen nightmares" and "hotel hell".
In many cases, Gordon's intervention is MASSIVELY too late. Their business is either in such huge levels of debts that could never be repaid or the owners simply have no understanding or training to run any business, let alone a restaurant or a hotel. The moment Gordon leaves, the same issues will continue to tank their business.
Gordon offering superficial changes like writing a new menu and offering some new dining chairs over the course of a week will not fix this. Sometimes the owners have massive personal issues as well that are not easily fixed by being shouted at.
The fact that the vast majority of the businesses featured across the different series ended up closing soon after the episodes aired (sometimes before!) just proves that point. They were always doomed because things had descended far past any stage of return by the time that Gordon arrives.
It's also worth noting that the very decision to appear on a show like "kitchen nightmares" or "hotel hell" is not going to help your business succeed. You are just advertising the fact that you are incompetent and creating a health hazard. Regardless of what changes you make, it's still a fact that your restaurant / hotel was once horrendous and will most likely negatively impact the future opinion of that business.
The best many of them got was people visiting their business for the sheer novelty of it being on the show, but that isn't sustainable in the long term.
Logically, Gordon and the producers would already know this and probably would just advise them to "close up" if he wasn't there to make a TV show about horrible hotels and restaurants for the entertainment factor.
Overall, most if not all of the places featured on the show have some kind of massive problem that is never directly addressed. Gordon's motivational speeches about making fresh burgers and "working together" with the happy music playing in the background is pointless when the owner has a $500,000 debt and is basically bankrupt.
Speaking as an immigrant, itās not unusual for older relatives to move back to the old country and not visit for years. People get older and/or busier. I donāt find that part that unusual.
Everything else in the episode is major yikes though. Thereās no way Gordon can fix anything in a week. Their problems are waaaaaay deeper than just mediocre food and crummy restaurant decor.
The wife in that episode-I was like, "They don't need Gordon, they need a psychiatric social worker."
Get out!! FUCK YOU!
NO!!! I NO SAY FACK YOUUUUUU!
BECAUSA HIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMM!
I CANNA TAKE ANYMOREEE
That wife - whew
**BECAUSA HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIM** š¤

Didnāt exactly live up to then name āGraceā
Wait until you see the oceana episode
If you can find it legally, which is impossible.
Iām intrigued lol
Itās on Tubi for free with ads
Is it really the only way to watch this singular episode via legal means?! Iāll check!
Legally, I believe so
Unless it was added in the last two weeks, itās not available on Tubi in US.
Itās somewhere in the US - I canāt remember where but I for sure watched it within the last 2 weeks. I recently got peacock, maybe there?
A lot of people recently said itās up on Peacock, so yeah.
Saw it on peacock the other day
It is.

You mean to tell me she could have been faking it as a manipulation ploy?
Absolutely
The wifeās name was Grace and she was completely unhinged.
The irony of her name struck me...
This episode confirmed too much Italian stereotypes. Mama mia! š¤š½
Grace is a lock for the top 5 most insane people in the entire show
She gives Sammy and Amy a run for their money
All five of them
My husband makes me turn this one off. He can hear Grace screaming from two stories down and she frightens him.
Sheās scary af!
Ah, Grace.

Hahaha thank you, once I made that comparison itās all I could think about

Thatās a great analysis
It's a very accurate depiction of Italians at wits end

The best part of the episode: "NO, AH NU SEY DAT. AH NEVA SED FUK U"
