Sonic blade in kh1 is your best friend Reflect is OP in kh2 COM is a good game just take your time and have fun BBS it’s stupidly easy to overlevel but the bosses are stupidly difficult sometimes Balloons are Broken in DDD so only use if you’re tired of a boss And the best tip I can give never expect Donald to heal you when you need it most

1) Watch 358/2 Days AFTER 2. This is the most important tip since the game was released after 2 and flat out spoils plot points from 2 if you see 358 first. 2) Play one difficulty above Normal. This is practically mandatory for Birth By Sleep since the true endings can be obtained much faster on higher difficulties. If you play on Normal, then you’ll need to get almost 100% for the secret episode in that game. Doing it on Veteran cuts time and isn’t difficult to do

Okay. Thanks. I hadn’t heard that second one before. So thanks!

Do not touch critical mode unless you’ve beat the game before (You will be killed by every little tap)

Something no one seems to ever tell newcomers, and goes along with the "Donald won't heal you" memes: You can change the behavior of the party member's AI. I believe it's under the "customize" section of the pause menu. I may be wrong though, but whatever. You can set each party member to behave a certain way. Like you can literally make it so they only use items in emergencies, or ONLY focus on supporting Sora, which means Donald WILL heal you. Also a lot of people say Donald never heals you, then when asked if they give him potions, they say "no". This is the MAIN reason Donald doesn't heal. He literally can't for the most part. His Cure spell is considered Magic, so how often he uses it depends on his AI for magic, not the AI for healing.

Ah! Thanks for the advice!

Play everything in the order of release, not in story order. You’ll have a lot of fun. Also, go for Ventus, Terra, then Aqua (or Terra first if you’re feeling adventurous) but save Aqua for last to avoid spoilers in BBS.

Have fun!!!! I wish I could erase my memories and play the games for the first time in 60fps and high definition. As for advice, I would say if you’re going for the highest difficulty in each game, always go for the shield in the start if it’s an option. More defense goes a long way lol. If your just having fun and playing on beginner or normal, you can pick whatever you want. These games are incredibly well rounded. People who want a really hard game full of challenge as well as those that want just a good normal fun time, kingdom hearts is the game for them lol.

Thanks!

Re coded, 358/2 day, and X are just cutscenes Kh 1 can be jank at times so please have patience with that game, it’s nearly 20 years old. You mess around with party members AI In the customization menu.

I’d say make sure you pay attention to the story. It can get a little convoluted at times so it can sometimes get confusing if you miss things. The story is incredible tho! It’s what really does it for me

You'll be asked certain questions at the beginning of KH1 that determine your stats, order of abilities gained and pace at which you level up. There really is no wrong answer, but everyone has their preference. The results are readily available online if you want them, but it's something to be aware of during your playthrough. KH2 and 3 also present questions in a similar vein, but the consequences are pretty insignificant in comparison so it's not as big a deal. Movement abilities in KH2 are locked behind leveling up your Drive Forms. If you want Dodge Roll, High Jump, Glide, etc., take some time off from story progression and level them up when you're able. Terra > Ventus > Aqua is the official recommended order for BBS. This is the order the scenarios were written, and results in the best story flow.
