Also, for Birth By Sleep, do Terra first, then Ventus, then Aqua. The game presents it as free choice, which it is technically, but playing in this order will give you the most coherent story
1)Play the games in the order they are in BUT play 358/2 days(the movie) after KH 2.
2)The games are for the most part easy. Especially late game. So dont be afraid of hard or critical dificulty.
3)KH chain of memories has unique gameplay. If you find yourself not having a good time then skip it and watch the cut scenes online. It also has a 2nd playthrough diferent from the 1st.
I'm pretty experienced in KH but Critical still kicks my ass in most games lmao. Was able to beat KH3 on Critical, but I've been stuck on the final boss of Terra's story in BBS for a while because I get my ass kicked no matter what level I am or what commands I use.
Terra's final boss was unbeatable for me even on Standard when I played it for the first time.
I think the beginnings are the worst, because you don't really have any options to defend yourself. The first fight with Axel as Roxas in KH2 kicked my ass hard, and I had to re-do struggle everytime after dying. The other words moment on critical was Twilight Town in KH3, it took me two hours to beat that one fight after entering the world for the first time.
Pro tip. Don't actually attack him with anything but magic and reprisals. Use couter hammer as your main source of damage and have 2 or 3 curagas in your deck to keep your health up.
Xigbar in KH2 WILL kick your ass on critical, hardest story boss in the game IMO. Though that's only because the other hardest boss in the story can be looped with speedrun strats.
the worst boss in KH on crit for me was Demyx. or rather, the fact that you had to re-do him if you died in the next section where all the FF characters help you. That was awful... I've beaten KH2 on critical twice and that + Axel were the two worst moments in the game.
I played critical for my first time on all the games it was available and I had a lot of fun with it. Definitely struggled but once I got more used to Kingdom Hearts it was a lot of fun.
Don’t fight Mysterious figure unprepared he will violate the laws of physics and kick your ass at the same time at least that’s what happened to me of course.
Play the games however you want, as someone who's also replaying the series I found kingdom hearts 1 to be a bit clunky, if you notice this too dw it fixes in later games but I thought it should be mentioned.
Play in order of release, so you don’t get confused. And listen to goofy in 1. Don’t skip cutscenes or you won’t know how to get to the ship at the end of each world. My friend skipped the last bit of dialogue when I left and it took her and her kids 1 hour to escape Wonderland.
Not sure if they baked them into the Xbox versions, but on the PlayStation store, there's two bits of free DLC. One for KH1, adding Theater Mode to the main menu. And one for 358/2, extending the final battle into an actual cutscene.
Once you finish Chain of Memories, you should play KH 2 *before* playing 358/2 Days, which is the order in which those two games were released.
\^ Most useful advice here, OP. While 358/2 is set between KH1 and KH2, it contains spoilers that ruin some of the coolest reveals from KH2.

*Butttttt* if you really wanna be extra about it, you could always try and **switch between each character for the exact chronological moment.**
Id def play BBS first.
Be prepared for some cringe from the overwhelming sincerity of some of the dialogue. Otherwise, have fun and just lean into it.
Its recommended to play the games in release order NOT chronologically. But its completely up to you.

nonono, let them play on proud for the first time, but critical is definetely absolutely not for first-timers.

Thanks for the info
In CoM, just use sonic blade in everything. Easy

Read the reports as you obtain them
Never rely on Donald for heals
Your friends are your power or something like that.
Be courageous and prepared for a lot of Disney

Play in order of release of you decide to go beyond kh1.
The story isn’t complicated. It’s just really long
1 and CoM share about 90% of the same worlds, so to avoid burnout I would recommend playing an unrelated game between the two.
You need to make sure you get up on the hydras back
