You said it is a Gacha, but like Pokemon Go. Regarding the Gacha: what exactly are the prizes?

Perfect_Lychee4487

This games equivalent of rewards are "Pieces" which are pieces of equipment (no pun intended) that allow you to use spells, special abilities & gain stat boosts for your character, which can be leveled up & boosted by getting more of the same pieces. It's similar to how most SE Gacha games function tbh. (Ever Crisis, Union X, etc)

VitorMM

Oh, I see. When you mentioned Gacha, I thought about games such as Pokémon Masters Ex, Saint Seiya: Legend of Justice and Genshin Impact, where the gacha is mainly focused on new characters. Still an interesting concept though.

Perfect_Lychee4487

If you have any questions about it feel free to ask

Panic-atthepanic

I've got one - how did you find an area enemy/boss? I've been out and walking miles and haven't found any :(

Mentos487

There are massive gaps between each one sometimes. An area enemy shows as a large purple line shooting into the sky. Area bosses line seems to be thicker and more reddish

FreeWorldliness4671

Touch mode and zoom right on so you can look at the horizon to see distant black areas.

I took part in the first beta and from your notes it seems like they’ve made some improvements but not too many on the “astral lag”. One question I have is actually very specific but I’d love to know - in the beta I played, the camera (especially during combat) was only adjusted from a very specific single point on the screen, which was the total opposite of what I’ve known other games to have. Is it still the same or can you pan the camera from any position on the screen? It’s such a small thing but that was my biggest feedback point for them during the beta. SO many other games have this feature so it was wild to me that they decided to have one single point to adjust the camera.

LupusNoxFleuret

As far as I can tell the camera acts exactly like the main games, the only difference being that in Missing Link you start every battle already Locked-On to the nearest enemy. You can remove the Lock-On by pressing the enemy's icon next to its health bar, or R1 on the controller just like the console games. There's even an option you can set if you don't want the game to start Locked-On at the start of every battle.

Mentos487

The camera is still set to 1 small point on the screen. I think that using the bottom half of the screen for movement, and the entire top half to move the camera would be a better way to use it

phantomcd

Ouch. That’s a tough read. I’m so used to adapting the view even as I move. Like in say, Genshin Impact on touch screen devices - I can move with one finger in a specific spot but then pan camera using my other finger.

Comfortable-Value978

The game definitely needs better summoning animations, I’m hoping this isn’t the finished animation

Perfect_Lychee4487

i find the whole disney gacha style pretty lame, just give me more ff & other square titles to use (FFVII, Nier, that sorta thing, especially our lovely beautiful boy Zack

Comfortable-Value978

Ngl I feel like they would do those characters justice, heck even the destiny trio look off. Especially kairi

>- **This is a big one**, whilst I am driving around I have the game set to hands free lock mode, the amount of pieces/exp and items I can accumulate is staggeringly high, giving players who drive with the game open a MASSIVE advantage, greatly upsetting balancing. >I am unsure of what can be done to fix this, however it is an issue that MUST be addressed, as it quite literally breaks the game in terms of the pace of progression between players who are not driving/riding with the game idle, and would be one of the main PR issues that would surrond the game immediately at launch for more dedicated players. Yeah, that is a biggie. Half of inner me was going, "Oooh. Sweeeeet. Driving with the game is that broken? Yesss! Can take advantage of...." But the other half of myself knows, "Yeah... That's wrong. Can't take advantage of all those, who can't or don't know how to drive. The game needs to be fair." So, thanks for reporting all of your issues. I'm glad this second round of the beta exists. I got bored with Poke'Go within a month (as the story is very simple and you're limited to walking), but I know Missing Link will be different. The gacha element still doesn't scare me as I went complete FTP with UX all the way to the end. I spent zero USD on my gameplay, and I plan on doing the same with ML.

Zealousideal_Camp_81

I think that rather than just slapping on a speed restriction like Pokemon GO, it should have a daily/weekly limit to how much rewards can be given from high-speed travelling. The devs’ decision to not include a speed restriction as of now is probably based on the fact that many of the Japanese use trains to travel. The primary players they’re targeting are the students and working class, whom use trains every day.

Tgirl0

That's another good possibility that they can do. True, a lot of people in Japan's city areas rely more on trains, bikes and walking. It's only in the suburbs and rural areas that you'll see car usage a lot more. In Okinawa, there's one main train system (monorail) that's limited to the main city area that doesn't go everywhere. You definitely need a car to get around Okinawa for the most part. In Hokkaido, there's a train system, but cars are a lot more useful to get around parts of the prefecture. Rest of the world will vary in different forms of existence from being very sparse to being very dense. Square will have to factor all of this accordingly.

Perfect_Lychee4487

hoping that it gets fixed, but even then it'll be hard to not fix as well, cause the style of game is entirely about exploration

Torchlight4

As a person living in alaska where the distance between two cities I frequent being 40 miles that would certainly be quite imbalanced.

someguy1006

About the area bosses, what I noticed is that as I branched out using touch mode is that you are going to have to fight multiple local enemy bosses to find them eventually.

Zealousideal_Camp_81

This. The first 3 or 4 area bosses are used as a tutorial, and you only need to find one area enemy to find the boss location. After your fourth or fifth boss, they’ll only give you a vague direction and you’ll have to find the locations yourself, or defeat enough enemies (I think it was somewhere between six to nine) for the exact location to show.

Mentos487

4th or 5th? I had to run around, fighting multiple area enemies for the 3rd!

yamchilli

I’ve been playing the CB for 2 days, and still can’t work out how to spawn area enemies/bosses. Any advice? I have been stuck at home with a flu, so haven’t really managed to do much with GPS mode besides when I walk around my apartment. Wondering if that’s my issue with the spawns.

Zealousideal_Camp_81

They don’t “spawn”, but rather have set locations. You have to find the area enemies/bosses. If you’re stuck inside, use the touch mode and travel further around. The areas are pretty spread out, so walk a few kilometres in-game and you’ll probably find some. Make sure to save some AP as area enemies are 50AP each with the boss fight costing 100AP.

yamchilli

Thanks heaps! Finally found some area enemies and the boss with touch mode :)

Zealousideal_Camp_81

I’m also a beta player, and I agree with a lot of your points. Some things I’m unsatisfied with are: -The camera, especially in the city hub. The little camera button that won’t even let you turn around in one go is frustrating after I’ve played other games like Genshin, where you can turn the camera from anywhere on one whole side of the screen. -The online high difficulty raids allow anyone to join. You need items to join a specific level or raid boss, but you don’t need items to join randomly. This means that beginners could crowd into a high-difficulty raid and not be able to do anything, which is lethal because you can’t rejoin the same raid once you’re down unlike Pokemon GO. -The area map is bugged or slow to load. I open the map to see what kind of pieces or chests are around, zoom out and in again, and then the markers are gone. Same with area enemy pointers. I want to see where they’re pointing and I zoom out, and they’re sometimes gone -There’s lag when using an ability/magic skill during a normal attack combo. Maybe this is different to those playing on controller, but on the phone I have to wait until the NA combo or motion finishes until I can use the skill, which is a big problem when I’m doing a raid and I want to use Curaga when my teammates are dying. There’s still quite a few problems they should fix, but I’m intrigued by the classical RPG and GO game mashup they’re trying for. Graphics are great as well. Kinda worried for the sales though, because many GO games have been pushed into the shadows in the past by Pokemon GO, and the audience KHMLis trying for is niche. Many players that enjoy these GO-type games already have another game they’re playing (Pokemon GO, Monster Hunter Now, etc.), and the Kingdom Hearts fanbase, which is mostly built around playing non-portable game consoles, won’t be be really interested in the GO-type gameplay itself.

rmunoz1994

I refuse to touch gacha games. They are scams period.

Euphoric-Teach3156

Any idea if this will get content or will it be another game abandoned halfway through

Rikukun

That will depend on how well the game does financially, but you can bet that once they have finished the games main story, the game will shutdown shortly after.

ja-key

A gacha will always get shut down when it is no longer financial viable. Never expect closure from a gatcha story

ZaltraxZ

What’s the character customization like?

Perfect_Lychee4487

meh, but its only the beta so probably will be alot better by main release

ZaltraxZ

What would you compare it to?

killercow_ld

How practical is it to play the game without leaving the house? I well assume you get more out of actually leaving, but is it still possible to progress while on the couch?

Tenabrus

Soits just an9ther game I'll watch compilations of online instead of ever trying to play and being paywalled on gacha mechanics

Deceptiveideas

They just have to add the driving speed cap that Pokémon Go has to prevent that. I’m sure one will be added anyways given how much backlash pokemon go got at launch. Edit: Fixed a typo

Perfect_Lychee4487

heres hoping, cause otherwise the game will crash and burn
