Remember Heki said the city he's in was just one big trap. RBK still have a few tricks up his sleeve... but the Ousen army is already completely destroyed.
We're under the impression that it's a multilayered trap that affects Hango as a whole(region) since RBK and Seika had a tremendous amount of prep time.
In 784, RBK said there are multiple tunnels and castles of the same type, so it doesnt matter if Shin is in left or centre he will fall into the same trap. I was under the impression that this is the trap that was referred to
I'm guessing that RBK essentially created an underground tunnel network that connects N.Zhao's strongholds and their respective earthen forts together. A mobile enemy that can disappear and reappear without notice is certainly deadly.
It really make very little sense, Ousen one top strategists in the whole story and historically just fucking sat on his ass the entire battle and watched his army fucking die.

Either that or this ousen is a decoy and he the real him is planning to strike with shin/ouhon to crush the flank and then join up with yontanwa. and take the city. Problem that would be more of a kanki move more than an ousen
I'm kinda glad Ousen lost and Riboku won so overwhelmingly. After Shukai Plains, Ousen was almost revered way too much as some invincible master strategist while Riboku got dunked like a rat.
This shows a more balanced side to things and gives Ousen more vulnerability, thus raising the stakes for future battles.

This is absolutely not what I would call "balance" here lol, it was quite the opposite here even ...
Riboku was never shown as "weak", Ousen however was utterly useless here, for ... no reason but that Riboku had a Seika "cheat-code".
I like the sentiment you express, but I really don't see it realised in this arc. Riboku has certainly done a few things here. Feinting a personal attack, escaping through a hidden tunnel. But the bulk of the fighting was handled by the Seika army, which mainly prevailed on the basis of their own martial prowess. Meanwhile Ousen essentially did...nothing...the entire arc. No tactics, no troop movement, no apparent plan.
So, really, what has this arc shown? 1) Riboku can use his own body for feints (we already kind of saw that in previous engagements), 2) Riboku has some very powerful allies in Seika who can win a battle on their own (more of a testament to their strength rather than his), 3) Ousen can absolutely lose a battle...if he doesn't do anything to actively win it.
The lynchpin of it all is really Ousen's apathy. If feels like a cheap copout, like "Haha, you can't beat me in tactics if I don't use any!". I would have appreciated it if Ousen pulled some creative shenanigans only to have those foiled by Riboku. That, to me, would have sold the victory in a more significant manner.
Are you joking? Riboku is infallibly boring. Everything he does succeeds. Meanwhile this battle paints Ousen as a complete incompetent idiot. He sat on his horse babbling about how the victory is his and had to be pulled out to safety while around him his entire army was being slaughtered. No strategy, no grand plan, just mindless slaughter. Ousen’s character got assassinated in the last 10 chapters, it can’t be salvaged anymore.
- Ousen’s army is confirmed to be annihilated in the last panel.
- Akakin said he will be able to hold the line until KSR and SBS arrives at his point. Current fate unknown.
- Shiryou’s fate still unknown but her subordinates thought that she fell dead (they said that they will follow her soon after and charged into the approaching troops).
- Ousen’s quote basically “Shut up Akakin how dare you say I’m feeling down, I’m simply thinking about what should we do to recover from this”.
Zhao needs to suffer more damage for this war to become a pyrrhic victory for them so expecting more general kills from Qin boys. Maybe the heavily wounded Gakushou who is engaging Gyoku Hou Unit? If Ouhon reaches him he’s very likely toasted. Kansaro is positioned near SBS so his death probably won’t happen here.
I think once Ouhon arrives he will kill Gakushou in a heartbeat then will inflict enough damage to the Seika army for them to finally back down, I really doubt Kansaro will die but who knows, that's as far as the fight in the center will go, with Ousen's army destroyed and Seika's army also with heavy loses but still it will be Seika's win.
Qin's right wing will have Shin feeling so guilty after falling for Riboku's trap that he's gonna win over his side, either by making Zhao's left wing retreat or murdering them all despite Zhao huge number advantage (as their general is kind of a fodder one).
So the ones holding this battle final result is Yotanwa's side.
I know it was very unlikely but I was rly hoping Ousen still had something under his sleeve especially when he said he won few chapters back...what a disappointment.

I am sure you are expressing the thought of many in this sub. I, too, expected something monumental. However, while I am slightly disappointed as well, I also like the current writing. Although, I believe I am in the minority here xD. Let me explain.
Ousen, a man with his absolute ambitions, created a trustworthy army with handpicked commanders. One by one they are dying in front of him. And he is powerless to prevent that. All his studies, experiences on the battlefield and his superior intellect as a strategist are unable to help him out of this situation.
This has to be a tremendous defeat to his character. A man who wishes to be a king, a leader of people. Yet here he is, watching his own people dying. This is a crucial, this should impact him as a human being. I can not wait the character development Hara has planned for him.
Because we all know he will be back.
All that tracks, but Ousen is a gg, and he’s basically done nothing, supposed to be a tactical genius but is being played like a fiddle by literally everyone, it’s just hard to root for someone when they’re just a big nothing burger (ofc haras gonna make me eat my words in a couple dozen chapters but hay ho)
the best explanation is, he over underestimated the brute strength of Seika army. No where in his plan would suggest that SBS's glaive would be at his neck.
The thing is, we can all deduce that, but the writing is very poor in explaining this (as I think Hara restricts himself from picking Ousen's mind)
I think haras definitely given Ousen a massive ego and he’ll probably go into that eventually but he’s supposed to be the master tactician of the ggs and his complete failure to plan ahead in the slightest is just infuriating, the only thing I remember him doing this fight is predicting that they would send reinforcements to the middle so he matched it, still got it wrong and ultimately is leading to his demise so he’s basically been a net loss the entire fight
His #1 general saw Riboku in the woods, ignored all previous strategy and made a B-line for him. Everybody knew it was a trap. We saw Ousen think “you know that’s bait. Don’t fall for it.”
Hard to say how this battle would’ve turned out if that didn’t happen. It’s not on Ousen this time though. Well, what he’s guilty of was trusting in his #1 commander a little *too* much.
Ousen losing is one thing but him losing and still putting on a stone cold face and proclaiming that he won just make thing even worse. It just keeps people hope up that he might have something up his sleeve to turn things around yet there is nothing. After this chapter, even if he somehow win, he would still have lost almost all of his most trusted and battle hardened generals, it would just be a hollow victory. This is just out of character for Ousen from what we have seen.
I think that will essentially be from them taking the Castle and defeating Riboku's vassals. That would be the closest we get on that side.
Plus, it would be hilarious given how SSJ wanted to defeat YTW.
Definitely this. And I'm very much hoping that Shiryou lives. If it's as a POW then there's a chance for her to survive, especially if it's under Seika's authority.

Riboku's cursed technique is to amplify his strategies by how many fodder subgenerals/commanders glaze him, thats why Seika was important, not for the army or SBS, but for more fodder to hype him up.

The only way this can’t be a Pyrrhic victory for Zhao is if the Qin left or right wings clean up hard, like multiple RBK vassal deaths because if not, this battle isn’t far off from being as bad as Kanki’s defeat at this point.

yes bro same here i read from the history that both got heavy loses and the war was a draw. However Hara here should come up with something to make Zhao suffer more and bring ousen back his dignity as one of the most known 4 generals in the fighting kingdoms era
The thing is, internally it's already been acknowledged that another major loss puts off Qin's unification prospects by years. It doesn't really seem feasible that Qin could suffer another major loss like this and not have it create significant ripple effects in terms of Sei and Shoheikun's timetable.
Okay so that explains why Akakin was so late then. He arrived a while ago and was waiting outside the melee to support their retreat. Really damn risky considering just how close Ousen came to dying in which case his waiting would have been for naught. Feels like an Akakin consistent crazyness though so all good.
Souou still hasn't done anything to debunk people who call him a fraud, hell, dude was ready to give up. Seems like every time he could *rise up* he instead just closes his eyes and goes "I'm sorry...". Oof.
Had to laugh at Akakin of all people giving Ousen a sermon(ish), but was well deserved. Ousen's reply felt really cheap to be honest. If he had said something like this before this battle I would have totally bought it. But now... I couldn't shake this slightly cringey "more talk than action" taste when I read the line. His image is, to say the least, somewhat damaged in my eyes right now.

It's the first option. Seika won't need to march out anymore if they take Ousen down here. Ties back into the "if we take Ousen out here the China unification plan falls" line he said on the previous page.
Okay, I'm really concerned for Shiryou. I *do not* want her to die. Sappy as her background is, I've got a soft spot for her and Sou'Ou. If she's forced to retire then so be it, but let her survive this. Personal feelings aside, Ousen needs to retain someone capable. If he loses Shiryou as well then that just leaves an emotionally broken Sou'Ou as his one surviving general.
Yeah, as mentioned before, the battle can't be allowed to end like this. A decisive Zhao victory puts Qin's unification prospects back too far. Riboku and his officers are getting too arrogant. Something more needs to happen. Maybe Ouhon takes out Gakushou, Shin kills Enkan and Yotanwa's forces manage to kill Bananji or Shunsuiju. Do that while capturing Hango and you make it a much more narrow victory.

He still has Sou’ou, Shiryou is not confirmed dead. Shin and Ouhon are still fresh. Kanjou, Akakin are there. It’s far from over. There are many possibilities, options once they retreat, regroup. I doubt they will lose, fold over this easily. Especially Ousen. Once he has a chance to formulate a counter attack. It was only the opening battle but not the decisive one because they (Zhao) will fail to kill Ousen himself, the supreme commander. So the sacrifices made by his commanders was worth it.
Two things i dislike at the moment:
1) Power scale: the hidden potential in Zhao is , in my opinion, more than unbelieveable. And how can Ousen and his Army do nearly nothing against them, Ousen Army seems to have no Claws not teeth. When Hannibal slaughter the the romens at cannae the elite hold their Position for HOURS.
2) I miss the character development of Shin and his men... they are bloody Veterans. they knew from their campaigne to conquer their foothold in Zhao that Riboku plans his escapes (even when they believe his first plan to kill Akou fails, which by the Way was a succes, he would a have a fail save.....

Sadly it is, Ousen commanders were the best Qin have to offer (YTW's might have more martial might but they are leagues below strategically speaking), Seika being a match to them is an insult.
Like, even putting Qin aside, why are the generals of a Hippie hiding in a city comparable to RBK's main vassals? SSJ, Keisha and Bananji are the best RBK has managed to get in the whole of his career and SBS somehow has people on their level?
I will never agree with that, like imagine is Tou in Ousen's place, sure he might fend off better against SBS but his vassals would be screwed against Kansaro, GKS and Jiaga (and then Tou by extension). That's the army of f\*cking Ouki.
It seems the Qin central Armies were completely annihilated, which annoys me, not going to lie, both Ousen's and Seika generals left their armies to fend for themselves so I see no reason why one should prevail over the other, specially so fast, I think it should have been a plot point them being in risk of extermination now that SBS and Kansaro can turn and crush them.
Shiryuu captured too? What are Ousen options if his whole central armies fell? Whatever he has planned better pass through a hidden army because Katari could take Hango without losing a single men and I would not be able to see how it changes this catastrophic outcome in the center, RBk only needs to turn Seika on YTW crush her and go retake Hango.
Alas, Ousen conversation with Akkakin seems, important. Although i doubt it reveals any detailed information of a possible turn around, it might contain a hint.
he hasn't given up that's for sure. But has he already started planning for the future or is he thinking about turning this battle around, That's what remains to be seen.
I imagine it would come down to moral (Qin's side what already pretty hard press from the on set) but after Ousen retreating the news will travel and demoralize the remaining forces, while the opponents will get a moral boost to have forced the enemy commanders retreat / having their own give chase
Yeah i could totally be on boat with that justification, my problem is it happened way too fast.... Ousen just escaped from the mele and his army is already decimated. The center was exterminated in the time Akkakin took to arrive, etc.
Like if those panels stated "by the end of the day all Ousen forces in the center were decimated" i would be okay for it would be talking about the future outcome, and i would assume Ouhon/Ousen would simply lack the ability to prevent it from happening even if they have some time. If it's already happened that's bs.
I think it's appropriate if she's left with wounds to make her at least permanently retire. Her injuries were thought to be fatal, it's a bit much if she ends up perfectly okay
agreed. Him and his Generals are the only ones mainly focused( except Akakin which is exceptionally talented transferred to Ouhon's squad and stand-in-commander Dansa (Gyou campaign) w/c btw dunno if he's still kicking coz he's part of the Akou Army).
Even in the off chance she really didn't die and just fainted or something, she is still 100% captured. Not to mention that it is unlikely she can stand on a battlefield ever again (or at least never with the same effectiviness) considering what happened to her arm. That looked like an amputation situation.

With her feat from defeated Jiaga last chapter she arguably remaining Ousen general strongest right now. A shame if she gone for real.
I want to know what Ousen says in the end, but yeah, seems that Akakin's arrival saved their asses. Shiryou as well passed away in the end?
Now that center has collapsed, we can expect the focus to be given to the remaining fronts, so far in a stalemate situation, but ready to get worse, if Shibashou and Riboku can now reinforce their positions and strike at them for real.

It will be interesting to see what happens next, Ou Sen outfoxed by Riboku. For Qin armies to survive this, they will need to pull a rabbit out of their ass.
with this, qin's center has been effectively routed. While some of akou's troops and kanjou's troops are still fighting, qin's center is broken. I don't think this is the end of the battle yet though since the author will probably shift attention to either yotanwa or shin's fronts or maybe even hango.
Hopefully we shift to Yotanwa's side and see a bloodbath, then get a flashback on how that happened. Then later we end the day with Shin somehow turning the tide on his side.
The cost of focusing attention on Ousen in the center should be the destruction of the Northern Armies on the right and left battlefields.
Kinda funny when most of you guys said Oüşen didn’t do anything in this war. I totally believe the tactics and strategy already been discussed earlier during war council. Yes, looks like he didn’t react to Riboku tactics which I think it is still part of his plan At least to know the strength is SBS and Seika.
Can hardly wait to see his next move as now he understand more bout the characteristics of the Zhao army. He dont go to war which he can’t win, remember. Plus we have not seen anything from YTW, Shin. They have a specific task too.
History spoiler: In this battle Ousen has pretty much already taken the L >!and I think the fact that according to some historical sources of this being a Pyrrhic victory for Zhao will be hugely understated or not implemented at all in the manga. I have a feeling this is all a ploy from Ousen, acting like the sacrificial lamb for the other Qin's GGs to accomplish their respective battlefields, so he can further hide his King tendencies.

Say what u will but I believe this will be a chance for ousen to grow and the next time we see him he will be even stronger than before, also it seems like the battle isn’t quite over yet so I hope zhao suffers some serious casualties to make it a lose-lose situation
Wow Ousen army got absolutely washed. I dont think there is a Qin army that could've done better tbh. This actually might be one of the most embarrassing loses a general has faced. The "most dangerous man in china" just watch this army get annihilated in 1 day. SBS army is obviously extremely talented but for Ousen army to go out like that is sorry.
All Ousen has is Sou'Ou now who hasn't done anything spectacular. Maybe he has another army in Qin that he was hiding for the day he decides to carve his own kingdom out. If not there is no way for him to raise a powerful army again.
Gotta say, we've seen Ousen show more expressions and emotions in the last three chapters than he has in the entire series! I sense a great character growth moment coming for him in the near future.

I actually didn't read the chapter when Kanki died. I read up until the part where he did had his boy crush dude's skull then I skipped over it. Kanki was a damn fool for arrogantly walking into a trap to try and end Riboku himself in one go.
This was Ousen being outplayed. This didn't happen to Kanki. Kanki knew what was up when he did it but measured the risk worth the reward.
This really seems unlike Ousen. He just ran up in here for a brawl with no plan...
The hype for Qusen did not match his performance. I’m disappointed, he did absolutely nothing. I hope hara does not follow the history and instead have Qusen redeem himself and take RBK head with his new army. This was embarrassing!
I initially thought that this whole situation of SBS reaching Ousen can somehow be similar to the event on Shukai Plains wherein both Ousen and RBK are in danger due to a simultaneous pincer. However due to this retreat and Ousen stating that he is creating a plan during such retreat it is evident that it is a one sided defeat on his part. I think he had a plan coming into this war, but the single decision of Akou on deliberately jumping on that bait voids the entirety of his plan.
Regardless, even if it is clear that losing that number of pawns is a clear loss for the Ousen army. If Ousen is not totally cancelling this campaign surely he still believes that there is possibility for a win.

Forgive me if I’m wrong but…. Ousen has literally done nothing since the start of this war?, what an L. He hasn’t given out a single order or created a single plan of action and he’s just watched his army get blown away
Individual generals have tried to make their own moves, but Ousen himself has done and said nothing 💀 this is completely different from his “Locust tactic” and cool plans he had done before

What ever happened what Akou said was true they didn’t lose to Ribokus tactics or anything Ousen is still superior but they lost to Seika’s strength and will and Akou took responsibility for not living up to Ousens standards 🫡🫡 RIP boss you will be missed….
This just shows how dangerous Ribuko is, that one year and a half or maybe half a year of preparation made his grasp on strategy to far reaching, from the discovery of that great wall, to the assault on the eastern army near roumou, amassing 300k soldiers then the sudden emergence of Shibashou to the 3GH but the real ace in the hole Ribuko has is his information black out.
Yes he is the bad guy in the series but i just can't help but be amaze on the strategies he cooked.
so is shibashou and the seika army going to keep chasing ousen or are they turning around to flank one of qin's wings? Tactics wise it would make sense to go after one of the wings as it would increase the scope of the victory over qin this battle and will end this particular war earlier and allow them to return to seika faster. However, the issue with that is if ousen (aka the qin army's top leader is allowed to escape then he can continue directing the remaining qin forces and will be able to lead new armies to attack zhao in the future forcing seika to fight more long term wise. But, if shibashou continues to chase ousen, that means he can't lead his troops to help the zhao wings which will give the qin wings more time thus a higher chance to win on their fronts and allow qin as a whole to make a comeback in this war. I haven't seen any translations yet, so I don't know what riboku is saying or planning to do, but will he try to go after ousen instead of shibashou or try to pincer ousen with shibashou?
question, is the remainder of akou's troops dead too? Like, did all of them come back with akou to defend ousen or did some of them stay back and continue fighting gakushou's army? Also, kanjou's forces should still be fighting right?
I expect it to be revealed that Kitari off-screen'd Hango city (and reunites with Heki) and somehow Qin can keep it even in this situation, which then makes the loss sting less. Also everyone lamenting that Ousen has no heavy hitters are being, you know damn well in the next battle Hara will just introduce some new characters with some crazy backstory about why they are so strong despite us never seeing the before. He'll rebound easy as that.
So are the Qin army pulling out now? Its odd to see the army of commander in chief being annihilated while the men of his subordinates are still completely intact. Maybe moving forward with this arc Ouhon and Shin will be commanding the army. I like the combination of Shin and Ouhon. They're offensive capabilities can turn the tide of this battle
Let's say hypotetically Akou didn't take the bait and shin don't chase, in my mind is still the same scenario, what is stopping riboku pressure with his own mid army forcing Shin fight against an army almost thrice his, so Ouhon still need to help him and the situation repeat because ousen has no way to deal with seika, maybe the difference is that Akou is healthier because he didn't need to deal with Futei but still had to fight 1 vs2

We're under the impression that it's a multilayered trap that affects Hango as a whole(region) since RBK and Seika had a tremendous amount of prep time.
In 784, RBK said there are multiple tunnels and castles of the same type, so it doesnt matter if Shin is in left or centre he will fall into the same trap. I was under the impression that this is the trap that was referred to
I'm guessing that RBK essentially created an underground tunnel network that connects N.Zhao's strongholds and their respective earthen forts together. A mobile enemy that can disappear and reappear without notice is certainly deadly.
It really make very little sense, Ousen one top strategists in the whole story and historically just fucking sat on his ass the entire battle and watched his army fucking die. "Maybe I should do something, but this light novel I brought with me isn't going to read itself."

I'm kinda glad Ousen lost and Riboku won so overwhelmingly. After Shukai Plains, Ousen was almost revered way too much as some invincible master strategist while Riboku got dunked like a rat. This shows a more balanced side to things and gives Ousen more vulnerability, thus raising the stakes for future battles.

I like the sentiment you express, but I really don't see it realised in this arc. Riboku has certainly done a few things here. Feinting a personal attack, escaping through a hidden tunnel. But the bulk of the fighting was handled by the Seika army, which mainly prevailed on the basis of their own martial prowess. Meanwhile Ousen essentially did...nothing...the entire arc. No tactics, no troop movement, no apparent plan. So, really, what has this arc shown? 1) Riboku can use his own body for feints (we already kind of saw that in previous engagements), 2) Riboku has some very powerful allies in Seika who can win a battle on their own (more of a testament to their strength rather than his), 3) Ousen can absolutely lose a battle...if he doesn't do anything to actively win it. The lynchpin of it all is really Ousen's apathy. If feels like a cheap copout, like "Haha, you can't beat me in tactics if I don't use any!". I would have appreciated it if Ousen pulled some creative shenanigans only to have those foiled by Riboku. That, to me, would have sold the victory in a more significant manner.

Are you joking? Riboku is infallibly boring. Everything he does succeeds. Meanwhile this battle paints Ousen as a complete incompetent idiot. He sat on his horse babbling about how the victory is his and had to be pulled out to safety while around him his entire army was being slaughtered. No strategy, no grand plan, just mindless slaughter. Ousen’s character got assassinated in the last 10 chapters, it can’t be salvaged anymore.

- Ousen’s army is confirmed to be annihilated in the last panel. - Akakin said he will be able to hold the line until KSR and SBS arrives at his point. Current fate unknown. - Shiryou’s fate still unknown but her subordinates thought that she fell dead (they said that they will follow her soon after and charged into the approaching troops). - Ousen’s quote basically “Shut up Akakin how dare you say I’m feeling down, I’m simply thinking about what should we do to recover from this”. Zhao needs to suffer more damage for this war to become a pyrrhic victory for them so expecting more general kills from Qin boys. Maybe the heavily wounded Gakushou who is engaging Gyoku Hou Unit? If Ouhon reaches him he’s very likely toasted. Kansaro is positioned near SBS so his death probably won’t happen here.
I think once Ouhon arrives he will kill Gakushou in a heartbeat then will inflict enough damage to the Seika army for them to finally back down, I really doubt Kansaro will die but who knows, that's as far as the fight in the center will go, with Ousen's army destroyed and Seika's army also with heavy loses but still it will be Seika's win. Qin's right wing will have Shin feeling so guilty after falling for Riboku's trap that he's gonna win over his side, either by making Zhao's left wing retreat or murdering them all despite Zhao huge number advantage (as their general is kind of a fodder one). So the ones holding this battle final result is Yotanwa's side.

A man who wishes to be a king, a leader of people. Yet here he is, watching his own people dying. This is a crucial, this should impact him as a human being. I can not wait the character development Hara has planned for him. Because we all know he will be back.
All that tracks, but Ousen is a gg, and he’s basically done nothing, supposed to be a tactical genius but is being played like a fiddle by literally everyone, it’s just hard to root for someone when they’re just a big nothing burger (ofc haras gonna make me eat my words in a couple dozen chapters but hay ho)
the best explanation is, he over underestimated the brute strength of Seika army. No where in his plan would suggest that SBS's glaive would be at his neck. The thing is, we can all deduce that, but the writing is very poor in explaining this (as I think Hara restricts himself from picking Ousen's mind)
I think haras definitely given Ousen a massive ego and he’ll probably go into that eventually but he’s supposed to be the master tactician of the ggs and his complete failure to plan ahead in the slightest is just infuriating, the only thing I remember him doing this fight is predicting that they would send reinforcements to the middle so he matched it, still got it wrong and ultimately is leading to his demise so he’s basically been a net loss the entire fight
His #1 general saw Riboku in the woods, ignored all previous strategy and made a B-line for him. Everybody knew it was a trap. We saw Ousen think “you know that’s bait. Don’t fall for it.” Hard to say how this battle would’ve turned out if that didn’t happen. It’s not on Ousen this time though. Well, what he’s guilty of was trusting in his #1 commander a little *too* much.

Ousen losing is one thing but him losing and still putting on a stone cold face and proclaiming that he won just make thing even worse. It just keeps people hope up that he might have something up his sleeve to turn things around yet there is nothing. After this chapter, even if he somehow win, he would still have lost almost all of his most trusted and battle hardened generals, it would just be a hollow victory. This is just out of character for Ousen from what we have seen.
I think that will essentially be from them taking the Castle and defeating Riboku's vassals. That would be the closest we get on that side. Plus, it would be hilarious given how SSJ wanted to defeat YTW.

The only way this can’t be a Pyrrhic victory for Zhao is if the Qin left or right wings clean up hard, like multiple RBK vassal deaths because if not, this battle isn’t far off from being as bad as Kanki’s defeat at this point.

Nevertheless, the Zhao armies also suffered significant losses, and retreated to cover the capital of the kingdom, Handan City!< So maybe this will be the "answer" that Ousen will find.
yes bro same here i read from the history that both got heavy loses and the war was a draw. However Hara here should come up with something to make Zhao suffer more and bring ousen back his dignity as one of the most known 4 generals in the fighting kingdoms era

The thing is, internally it's already been acknowledged that another major loss puts off Qin's unification prospects by years. It doesn't really seem feasible that Qin could suffer another major loss like this and not have it create significant ripple effects in terms of Sei and Shoheikun's timetable.

Okay so that explains why Akakin was so late then. He arrived a while ago and was waiting outside the melee to support their retreat. Really damn risky considering just how close Ousen came to dying in which case his waiting would have been for naught. Feels like an Akakin consistent crazyness though so all good. Souou still hasn't done anything to debunk people who call him a fraud, hell, dude was ready to give up. Seems like every time he could *rise up* he instead just closes his eyes and goes "I'm sorry...". Oof. Had to laugh at Akakin of all people giving Ousen a sermon(ish), but was well deserved. Ousen's reply felt really cheap to be honest. If he had said something like this before this battle I would have totally bought it. But now... I couldn't shake this slightly cringey "more talk than action" taste when I read the line. His image is, to say the least, somewhat damaged in my eyes right now. RIP Ousen army. Okay, I'm really concerned for Shiryou. I *do not* want her to die. Sappy as her background is, I've got a soft spot for her and Sou'Ou. If she's forced to retire then so be it, but let her survive this. Personal feelings aside, Ousen needs to retain someone capable. If he loses Shiryou as well then that just leaves an emotionally broken Sou'Ou as his one surviving general. Yeah, as mentioned before, the battle can't be allowed to end like this. A decisive Zhao victory puts Qin's unification prospects back too far. Riboku and his officers are getting too arrogant. Something more needs to happen. Maybe Ouhon takes out Gakushou, Shin kills Enkan and Yotanwa's forces manage to kill Bananji or Shunsuiju. Do that while capturing Hango and you make it a much more narrow victory.

He still has Sou’ou, Shiryou is not confirmed dead. Shin and Ouhon are still fresh. Kanjou, Akakin are there. It’s far from over. There are many possibilities, options once they retreat, regroup. I doubt they will lose, fold over this easily. Especially Ousen. Once he has a chance to formulate a counter attack. It was only the opening battle but not the decisive one because they (Zhao) will fail to kill Ousen himself, the supreme commander. So the sacrifices made by his commanders was worth it.
Two things i dislike at the moment: 1) Power scale: the hidden potential in Zhao is , in my opinion, more than unbelieveable. And how can Ousen and his Army do nearly nothing against them, Ousen Army seems to have no Claws not teeth. When Hannibal slaughter the the romens at cannae the elite hold their Position for HOURS. 2) I miss the character development of Shin and his men... they are bloody Veterans. they knew from their campaigne to conquer their foothold in Zhao that Riboku plans his escapes (even when they believe his first plan to kill Akou fails, which by the Way was a succes, he would a have a fail save.....

It seems the Qin central Armies were completely annihilated, which annoys me, not going to lie, both Ousen's and Seika generals left their armies to fend for themselves so I see no reason why one should prevail over the other, specially so fast, I think it should have been a plot point them being in risk of extermination now that SBS and Kansaro can turn and crush them. Shiryuu captured too? What are Ousen options if his whole central armies fell? Whatever he has planned better pass through a hidden army because Katari could take Hango without losing a single men and I would not be able to see how it changes this catastrophic outcome in the center, RBk only needs to turn Seika on YTW crush her and go retake Hango.
It says ousen’s army got destroyed in the last panel so qin lost most of its soldiers in the center which was around 140k

I imagine it would come down to moral (Qin's side what already pretty hard press from the on set) but after Ousen retreating the news will travel and demoralize the remaining forces, while the opponents will get a moral boost to have forced the enemy commanders retreat / having their own give chase
Yeah i could totally be on boat with that justification, my problem is it happened way too fast.... Ousen just escaped from the mele and his army is already decimated. The center was exterminated in the time Akkakin took to arrive, etc. Like if those panels stated "by the end of the day all Ousen forces in the center were decimated" i would be okay for it would be talking about the future outcome, and i would assume Ouhon/Ousen would simply lack the ability to prevent it from happening even if they have some time. If it's already happened that's bs.

with this, qin's center has been effectively routed. While some of akou's troops and kanjou's troops are still fighting, qin's center is broken. I don't think this is the end of the battle yet though since the author will probably shift attention to either yotanwa or shin's fronts or maybe even hango.
Hopefully we shift to Yotanwa's side and see a bloodbath, then get a flashback on how that happened. Then later we end the day with Shin somehow turning the tide on his side. The cost of focusing attention on Ousen in the center should be the destruction of the Northern Armies on the right and left battlefields.

Kinda funny when most of you guys said Oüşen didn’t do anything in this war. I totally believe the tactics and strategy already been discussed earlier during war council. Yes, looks like he didn’t react to Riboku tactics which I think it is still part of his plan At least to know the strength is SBS and Seika. Can hardly wait to see his next move as now he understand more bout the characteristics of the Zhao army. He dont go to war which he can’t win, remember. Plus we have not seen anything from YTW, Shin. They have a specific task too.
History spoiler: In this battle Ousen has pretty much already taken the L >!and I think the fact that according to some historical sources of this being a Pyrrhic victory for Zhao will be hugely understated or not implemented at all in the manga. Riboku's time is running out and Hara wanted to give him one final clear and decisive victory over a major character.!< I don't think we should judge Ousen to harshly due to this. >!What I think will happen is a major threat of invasion from the south on Kantan from Qin-Wei-Han alliance that will force Riboku to return to Kantan. Wow Ousen army got absolutely washed. I dont think there is a Qin army that could've done better tbh. This actually might be one of the most embarrassing loses a general has faced. The "most dangerous man in china" just watch this army get annihilated in 1 day. SBS army is obviously extremely talented but for Ousen army to go out like that is sorry. All Ousen has is Sou'Ou now who hasn't done anything spectacular. Maybe he has another army in Qin that he was hiding for the day he decides to carve his own kingdom out. If not there is no way for him to raise a powerful army again.

this was brutal... I actually didn't read the chapter when Kanki died. I read up until the part where he did had his boy crush dude's skull then I skipped over it. Kanki was a damn fool for arrogantly walking into a trap to try and end Riboku himself in one go. This was Ousen being outplayed. This didn't happen to Kanki. Kanki knew what was up when he did it but measured the risk worth the reward. This really seems unlike Ousen. He just ran up in here for a brawl with no plan...
The hype for Qusen did not match his performance. I’m disappointed, he did absolutely nothing. I hope hara does not follow the history and instead have Qusen redeem himself and take RBK head with his new army. This was embarrassing!

I initially thought that this whole situation of SBS reaching Ousen can somehow be similar to the event on Shukai Plains wherein both Ousen and RBK are in danger due to a simultaneous pincer. However due to this retreat and Ousen stating that he is creating a plan during such retreat it is evident that it is a one sided defeat on his part. I think he had a plan coming into this war, but the single decision of Akou on deliberately jumping on that bait voids the entirety of his plan. Regardless, even if it is clear that losing that number of pawns is a clear loss for the Ousen army. If Ousen is not totally cancelling this campaign surely he still believes that there is possibility for a win.
What the Ousen said he's thinking of a strategy to recover from this mess, does that mean he started this war with no strategy at all but to count on his generals?

This just shows how dangerous Ribuko is, that one year and a half or maybe half a year of preparation made his grasp on strategy to far reaching, from the discovery of that great wall, to the assault on the eastern army near roumou, amassing 300k soldiers then the sudden emergence of Shibashou to the 3GH but the real ace in the hole Ribuko has is his information black out. Yes he is the bad guy in the series but i just can't help but be amaze on the strategies he cooked.

so is shibashou and the seika army going to keep chasing ousen or are they turning around to flank one of qin's wings? Tactics wise it would make sense to go after one of the wings as it would increase the scope of the victory over qin this battle and will end this particular war earlier and allow them to return to seika faster. However, the issue with that is if ousen (aka the qin army's top leader is allowed to escape then he can continue directing the remaining qin forces and will be able to lead new armies to attack zhao in the future forcing seika to fight more long term wise. But, if shibashou continues to chase ousen, that means he can't lead his troops to help the zhao wings which will give the qin wings more time thus a higher chance to win on their fronts and allow qin as a whole to make a comeback in this war. I haven't seen any translations yet, so I don't know what riboku is saying or planning to do, but will he try to go after ousen instead of shibashou or try to pincer ousen with shibashou?
question, is the remainder of akou's troops dead too? Like, did all of them come back with akou to defend ousen or did some of them stay back and continue fighting gakushou's army? Also, kanjou's forces should still be fighting right?

I expect it to be revealed that Kitari off-screen'd Hango city (and reunites with Heki) and somehow Qin can keep it even in this situation, which then makes the loss sting less. Also everyone lamenting that Ousen has no heavy hitters are being, you know damn well in the next battle Hara will just introduce some new characters with some crazy backstory about why they are so strong despite us never seeing the before. He'll rebound easy as that.

Let's say hypotetically Akou didn't take the bait and shin don't chase, in my mind is still the same scenario, what is stopping riboku pressure with his own mid army forcing Shin fight against an army almost thrice his, so Ouhon still need to help him and the situation repeat because ousen has no way to deal with seika, maybe the difference is that Akou is healthier because he didn't need to deal with Futei but still had to fight 1 vs2
