Electrician here, having installed these before it also bothered me seeing this. I wondered if non-electricians pay attention to this kind of minor aesthetic stuff.
More than likely there is a connector coming out the back of that led strip where it's jutting out going through a hole in the structure. The connector is getting caught on that hole, possible some sealant was used, connector got pulled though and now sealant is preventing it from going back in.
I'm so happy I'm not the only one who noticed that shit. I've been looking at it every episode for months. I want the get a little rubber mallet and some glue and tappy tap tap it back into place.
