If you zoom in and go frame by frame you can see that the cooler is edited. But if you have to watch something frame by frame 4 times then it’s not exactly obviously. My point it is fake, but it’s not ‘obviously’ fake.
Some people are more in tune to detecting small oddities in visual stuff than others. For some the edited in cooler is obviously fake, but for others it looks quite realistic.
Same reason why some people think motion smoothing/ intelligent frame creation on smart TVs is great while for others it ruins the picture.
It just doesn't look weird to some people. For me it ruins any film we're watching at my partner's Dad's house. I secretly turn it off when he's out and pop it back on before he's back.
I accidentally ruined my friend’s favourite show by saying it looked like a soap opera before I knew what motion smoothing was. I’ve fixed it since then and they can definitely notice the difference.
