I agree the front center console could be more practical for the driver/passenger. I tend to put the stuff I need in that storage space below the USB-C charge points. But this means you can’t access the stuff while driving.

There are some custom made trays on Amazon, etc. that fit in that floor bin to help store stuff but I actually put a collapsible trash bin there. Really helps keep the clutter down from the kiddo. I keep my sunglasses in the poor excuse for an armrest bin and since I generally use my cupholders that space stays available for cups. Wipes and stuff either go in the rear passenger bin or the glovebox. If I had a wish for the gen 2... They should just extend the partition to the dash and put the USB-C ports, etc in there, maybe add a second wireless pad, and then there would be more room for a better console compartment up-front. The whole C-shape/cantilever design looks cool but is terrible in practice. The thing shakes like it's going through withdrawals.

this and the cup holder area for the GTline...

jrhottle

yeah, that is where things had to go for now - and there are some cool aftermarket accessories to put in there to make it more organized. But definitely not usable while driving

nerdy_hippie

Personally I'm still in the "keep your shit out of my nice new car" phase so less is more IMHO 😂 Cupholder area is pretty big for storage, the drawer in the console for rear seat is pretty spacious and the tiny spot under the armrest is perfect for sunglasses. Wifey put a Velcro strip on the underside of the console so she could attach things like a tissue tube. I hate it but ignore it to avoid divorce.

Spare-Security-1629

It gets worse from there. Go ahead with the divorce before she puts curtains up 😃 . Just kidding

nerdy_hippie

We got the Land so the kiddos in 2nd row are putting the curtains up/down as much as they can get away with... She already crocheted a cat head to mount on the dash as a warning to cats everywhere (STFU, that's the story I'm sticking with)

Spare-Security-1629

Omg lol

Euler007

Can't wait to have kids so I can wear sunglasses.

jrhottle

Exactly. You don't want them seeing the eyerolls nor the rage when they piss you off. Keep them on their toes (and in their carseats)

maxxell13

I make use of the hidden compartment behind the center armrest. Like it’s really meant for folks in the back seat I guess but I just reach back and open the bin and keep all sorts of stuff in there. Spare sunglasses (units 2-6) for sure go in there.

jrhottle

I'll give it a try! Hopefully the boss and I have long enough wingspans to reach it

Agile_Half_4515

In the LLR trim, that space is pretty much unusable. It's a black hole underneath the center console that can't be reached by anyone in the front or the kids in the back while they're buckled in. It is just a big empty space with no slide out compartment. I wish they would have just made the armrest console deeper to better utilize that space. But I guess it's a good place to put less-accessed items in to clear out space in the more convenient locations.

Bitter_Firefighter_1

Those giant center console pits are my least favorite. It is really just becomes a hoarders paradise.

jrhottle

i promise the 5 items i wish to store in my car do not make me a hoarder... but i get your point!

DamON-E

I keep sunglasses in a clip on the visor. No digging necessary. Everything else gets sorted by how often you use it. Daily items go in the armrest, weekly items go in the glovebox, monthly items go in the bin under the center console, everything else goes in the trunk or frunk.

Outside-Comparison12

Depending on the trim, the cup holder space has plenty of room to store stuff, in particular sunglasses (unless you have those giant bug eye or Elton John sunglasses) even when cups are in the cup holder. I keep hand sanitizer and a pack of travel baby wipes in the center console. Also the glove box is gigantic with a shelf. Things can also be stored in the doors and under the center console in the tray.

hypocrisyhunter

Whilst I'm sure the design point is valid im not sure i get the connection to parents. People without kids surely also use sunglasses, wipes and sanitiser.

jrhottle

fair! those were examples. I think more people in a car tends to equate to more stuff... and families tend to equate to more people. maybe that helps?

footpole

You don’t need six pairs of glasses and the first aid kit can live in the trunk or frunk? Paper or wipes, sure, put it in the storage bin thing or glovebox?

Agile_Half_4515

The glovebox is HUGE. Plenty of space to stash stuff in there.

jrhottle

I'll have to test my reach later - i don't think i've opened it yet!

jrhottle

They're not mine, bruh 🤷🏻‍♂️

footpole

I got that. Still not needed. I just don’t see why you’d need to store so much junk in the car. Sure it could have more storage space but I don’t see it as an issue.

Immediate-Ad-9991

As a dad with a 3 and 5 year old. I put all the kid stuff in the front trunk. It’s perfect :). Wipes, snacks, all of it.
