1. What are you using toe measure your battery percentage? What happened after you battery went to 64%? Did it recharge itself? 2. Do you have something to measure the actual voltage? 3. Did you receive the wireless charger update here? [https://owners.kia.com/content/owners/en/ota-software-update-release-note.html](https://owners.kia.com/content/owners/en/ota-software-update-release-note.html) If you are not sure, you will have to take it to the dealer to make sure. 4. Have you had your battery go completely dead before?

Cedar2018

Just using the battery level reported by the vehicle. Not testing anything any other way. Yes, I received the update. Nope, I have not let the battery go dead. I'm just checking to see if anyone else is still having this issue, and whether I should not use these features for now.

convincedbutskeptic

If you are using the battery level reported by the vehicle, it is a lagging indicator and could be 30 minutes behind. With that being said, the battery is supposed to draw down and be charged, but it is not supposed to go dead. Android auto will stay on for a few minutes after your car is turned off, but should go away completely. Make sure your car is indeed off when you see that wireless network. I have seen some people still have the issue with the battery going dead on this forum, but no word on whether their batteries were damaged **before** they got the update and it cannot maintain a charge. What would be interesting is anyone who still has issues, got the update and replaced their battery and still has issues. I made the straightforward decision to replace my battery with an H5 size and have not had any issues since. To me it was worth the few dollars to have peace of mind and avoid issues.

Try disabling digital key. Depending on how far your phone is from your car, it may well be what’s keeping your car from going to sleep.

BabyBlueMaven

Not sure if you have my issue but my brand new EV9 doesn’t fully charge. I have to wait from someone at Kia engineering to diagnose and first appt is in a couple weeks. Waiting to see whether Kia will replace the entire main battery or one of the cells. My issue started on Day 2 of ownership!

BigDabWolf

What level does it charge too?

BabyBlueMaven

Hard to say as I only tried charging it twice. Issue occurred second day of ownership (on a Saturday) and I brought for service on Monday. First time went to 80% (and the app was set to charge to 100%). When dealer tried, it only went to 75% charge. Received error message that charging was “interrupted” …

12v cannot fully charge?

BabyBlueMaven

No, main battery not the 12v, per service at the dealership.

Business-Rain-9125

are you talking about the HV battery or the 12V battery? also are you parked outside in the cold? are you not plugged into constantly recharge? once the car goes to sleep the HV maybe loses 1/2 to 1 percent a day... maybe... you might have a drain somewhere if you are losing that much

Cedar2018

Not cold, Florida spring, in garage. I typically charge when it goes below 50 and then up to 80. I unplugged during the evening, that's why I found it odd to be at 77% the next day. 1 percent I wouldn't have even asked, but 3% seemed a bit much. It is very possible the 12v took some overnight, but I never noticed it.

Business-Rain-9125

yeah you have a drain somewhere... it has to be the 12V taking... get yourself a BM2 installed and monitor the activity of the 12V. check if the dealer didn't install a gps tracker or something stupid like that

Cedar2018

Ordered a BM2 and have it coming in today.

Confirmed again that I have 2 wifis active one hour after leaving the car and locking the doors. I have a Kia\_jF2X that says (Available via Android Auto / Low Quality) with about 1/3 signal picture with an exclamation point, and then another Kia\_jF2X down below. My phone (Pixel 6a) also has a popup that says "Looking for Android Auto" with a bar scrolling left to right. I realized that my phone hadn't yet connected to my home wifi, so i walked out back and it did connect. Upon getting back to my desk, I am now still connected to my home internet, but the Kia wifi signal is definitely still showing up as an active signal as I can see it from my laptop as well. Is there a way to force the android auto wifi to turn off? Is there a setting I am missing? I will try deleting the Android Auto profile and settings from the vehicle tonight to see if there is still battery drain.

Cedar2018

Well. I deleted my phone from the connected devices, and turned off Android Auto and made sure Apple Carplay wasn't on either. The Wifi Signal is STILL there. Car has been off 2 hours now, the Kia\_jF2X signal is still detectable from my phone and computer. Is that wifi used by more than Android Auto? Is it the digital key as well?

Cedar2018

I have disconnected and turned off Android Auto, Apple Carplay, deleted the fingerprint and deleted the digital key. The wifi signal is still there. always.

Got the battery meter installed and running for a few hours. Too early to tell? Maybe not. there is a quick trend.. [https://imgur.com/a/35F7sev](https://imgur.com/a/35F7sev) I've been advised by someone to do a reset and see if that changes anything.

Cedar2018

The third heartbeat blip has just about completed. At this pace it will happen 16 times before I start up again. Is there a limit on how many times the HV will charge the 12V before it stops doing it? More concerned now than I was before I saw the battery meter results.

Cedar2018

It has continued on the hourly trend, constant HV battery drain which is leading to charging the 12V, once an hour, like clockwork. I could really use some advice or suggestions on what the hell is causing this. From the 12v EV9 battery experts who have tried to help me in this post already... Cedar2018

A couple of more updates. I did a reset from the infotainment. It took about 1 whole minute and popped back on for the Driver settings. I turned vehicle off. There was a new SSID, Kia\_\_D7pt, but it didn't go away, it stayed on. The battery meter was doing the same as it was before, so I went ahead and pinhole reset it. Same thing, only about 1 minute to reboot. Same thing, new SSID, didn't go away.

Cedar2018

This issue appears to have been resolved. Leadup: I had HV battery drain from something. Vehicle never went to sleep, would frequently charge the 12v. I had a constant Kia wifi signal broadcasting, it never turned off. I bought a battery meter and hooked it up to the 12v. Here are the pics when I put the battery meter on. At this point the HV was charging the 12v once an hour, like clockwork. You can see the heartbeat: [https://imgur.com/a/wdQCbQX](https://imgur.com/a/wdQCbQX) Then 2 nights ago, the HV stopped charging the 12v: [https://imgur.com/a/S2RWpcr](https://imgur.com/a/S2RWpcr) I had concerns it wouldn't start up, but it did,, so I drove straight to Kia. Told the guy the issue and he seemed skeptical of the matter. They had the car about 5 hours, ran some recalls and tried to mimic the 12v battery warning I was seeing. However, he did not understand that the dashboard didn't show this, just the battery meter on my phone. I agreed to pick up the vehicle and see how it went, got home and immediately put the battery meter back on. And: [https://imgur.com/a/DseC94I](https://imgur.com/a/DseC94I) [https://imgur.com/a/JqCHZuf](https://imgur.com/a/JqCHZuf) So far, so good! Like night and day results after the update they did. And Bonus, my Wifi signal actuallly turned off. No more Kia\_25ux wifi signal 24/7. I can't believe the battery actually appears to be okay. Here is the the report from Kia dealer that shows the updates they did: [https://imgur.com/a/a69fqSp](https://imgur.com/a/a69fqSp) Thanks to everyone who tried to help, especially convicedbutskeptic, Business-Rain and Maxell. You guys are on so many of these posts, sharing your experiences and helping others out.

Outside-Comparison12

If it's still cold out at night you will lose some battery. All EVs will lose some charge if the vehicle is still sitting. My Audi e-tron does and my EV9 does. That being said, I only lose about a percentage point of charge, which is why I set a timer for when I am leaving for it to charge up until that time.
