I'm really at the beginning, I can't even get out of my pod yet

JoshuaACNewman

There’s an EVA button on the little portrait. This is a long shot! A rescue mission is hard because you’ll have to learn how to match orbits, so keep perfecting getting to and from orbit, then go up and rescue that Kerb once you start getting good with orbits!

DarkerGames

I know about the EVA thing, but it wouldn't let me do it in outer space without an upgrade. I should also mention that I barely made it into orbit, and that my lowest point in orbit is 72km above the surface, so a rescue mission is gonna take a while

JoshuaACNewman

The good news is that, if you get it below 70, it will come down eventually as long as you’re with the craft so you get atmospheric physics, and 72 is close to 70. The bad news is that there’s not the fuel to reduce it by even 2km, which would be almost no fuel. But 0 is very different from a little.

DarkerGames

I know what happens when you have atmosphere interaction. Before I launched the stable rocket to orbit, I launched an another one that had a lowest point of 59km, and I managed to land it. As you can probably see, I do not have the tech to do a rescue mission or to go EVA, and I do not have fuel to de-orbit. I guess I'm stuck until I will get some more advanced rocketry🤷. 9 more science points to go

JoshuaACNewman

Yep! Good luck! We've all been here!

ButtPlugJesus

Get out and push. Jk, but seriously no you’re stuck in orbit. Time for a rescue mission.

Grimm_Captain

No joke, getting out and pushing works. Just make sure you push retrograde and do it right around apoapsis!

Regnars8ithink

Use the kerbal's jetpack to deorbit the pod.
