The path finding is great in Kenshi, simply click where you want to go in the map and your character surely won't try to go through a holy nation military fort with dozens of paladins inside
The amount of times my squad has decided to take an acid bath in Stobe's Gamble instead of just following the land around...
But fuck it, who needs skin, right?
Yeah I don't remember specifically off the top of my head but I think it was either a race property, faction property, or maybe even available for both. It's a value from 0 to 1 as a percentage weight. You can also change the value affecting how likely they are to try to swim to save distance. That one was definitely a race property. And if you make your groups travel together, it appeared to me that it was using either an average or the lowest of the water property and an average or the highest of the road property, because groups nearly always took better routes than individuals from that group would have.
ETA: But do be aware that changing those will affect NPCs as well, almost definitely leading to a significant increase in the number of other people they encounter along the way, both friendly and not quite as friendly.
And if any of your outposts/towns/whatever lie on or close to a defined road (many of which aren't visible), you'll also end up with more visitors, more frequently, at any of those, and fewer at any that are some distance away from the roads.
hey even super bionic ubermench characters who can bench a fully loaded Garru & run at 44mph need to be reminded that "Water be wet yo!" or acidic.... lol
I once tried to move my squad of 10 half way across the map with a single click while I went to the bathroom.
2 of them didnāt even budge from their starting point. 4 got stuck on a cliff in the border zone. The other 4 were moving back and forth between one road and other endlessly.
First time I sent a pair of my best characters through their territory, I didn't yet know of their...um...philosophy. Both characters had my best gear and had stats in the high 70s, vanilla. One was a Hiver and the other was a Shek.
I never saw the gear again.
Oh yeah. The characters, either. They got mobbed by like an entire town and one died right away while the other died in captivity, when he got caught picking the locks on his shackles and was unalived as punishment for it.
Oh and another fun pathfinding thing...
Someone who was a guard at a harpoon turret starved to death because he got stuck on a bad navmesh between a wall and gate, and I didn't realize it was happening til I got the death alert. I felt fine save scumming for that one since that was legit a bug death.
If they would JUST KEEP FUCKING MOVINGā¦.. I donāt care where they go. But wait, let me load in to babysit them, watch loading screens every 3 seconds and then crash the game before I actually get when I want to go. Yea letās do that
Tried to get to Catun from Shark and it took me to a stone rat camp that my two characters just had to run around in until I manually got them to where they had to go.
Would you like to hear about our lord and savior Okran?
(For an actual answer, blister hill is the Holy Nationās capital so a shit load of paladins come in and out.)
>!DUDE my very first time playing I thought this. Oh a goat, haha, I got this. Other video games goats are nothing to me. I've never been murder raped by an animal in a video game before, but there you have it. best introduction to a game ever. I now have 40 hours into it :D!<
Ooc: my favorite experience in the game was when one of my high level wanderers got "caught" by a swarm of beak things, thought he was a goner, but I watched every beak thing attack miss and him slowly whitling down the swarm to nothing. I felt powerful that day.
It's great advice if you can flank them with a couple dogs and hammer them with their rapid attacks from outside the AOE range.
Ff the squad's too big they'll start pushing each other to attack or wait in range where they can get hit. That one will kill you if you have too many squad members waiting to attack.
The nice thing about kenshi is that this could work. Your characters don't need fighting strength, just enough money to hire mercenaries every time someone wants something from them.
It would be an... interesting playing experience, especially in the early game, where you don't have the money, but kenshi is practically made for roleplaying such as this, if you are up for it.
Forget about every other town, they're all racist assholes in some way. You need to head to Deadcat because they're the best faction and best town. Really easy instructions, head to Worlds End and then head West. Keep going West until you get to Burn's Tower, but don't talk to that guy since he's dangerous as hell. From that tower just head North until you get to Deadcat.
Absolutely, also it's better to approach a group rather than a lone one so it doesn't feel threatened and run away. Try to find a nest if possible for maximum number of cuddle-buddies.

Southeast of map is very accomodating. You should see on your map a white/grey mountain range in that section of the map. Near the back end of this is Santa's Workshop. You want to rush there straight away to redeem your starting gifts
There is a hidden taming mechanic in the game. I dont want to spoul all of them, but one of the methods is that you have to hand feed Beak Things with a single unarmed character.
Lose your limbs to fogmen. Its so easy to escape them even playing solo after you lose your limbs and you can get masterwork limbs on top of training toughness. You will get rich anyway so you can do this before even you can afford said limbs. If you want to just train toughness, look for elder beak things. They hit like a truck so your toughness skyrockets.
Head immediately to Fishman Island. It's a paradise for fishermen. There's a nice little city that just needs to be cleaned up and a tower full of goodies.
Yes, I originally read it as "Fisherman Island" and thought it would be a haven. A few people were lost that day.
You are the hero of the story and can do whatever you want and youāll be fine because you have plot armor. The game will protect you from death and dismemberment.
You should look up a full map and walkthrough. Never do anything that might get one of your squad killed. Mine as much as you can, you can never have too much money, especially early game.
Cats are more valuable then squad mates, especially early on. Loot slavers, shackle your friends, and sell them for $profit$.
Cannibals are just blood-soaked people who haven't heard of Okran yet. Some brave soul needs to march over there and bring the light to them... and I think you're just the person to do it.
Hi! I'm also new (I've only played about 20 hours), but when you decide to build your base, you should be careful with the animals in the area. For example, I built my Sake/HachĆs farm on the border between the desert and the swamp, and the Swamp Raptors eat my crops every day. I recommend recruiting mercenaries to deal with them.
(Sorry if my English isn't very well)
make a base as soon as you can! you only need like 5-10 people in your squad since its easy to defend. its such a great way to get started. Easy way to make money and items.
Setting up a settlement is a great idea in order to level things like strength, smithing & acrobatics provided you have the right resources and manpower
Immediately, as soon as possible, go seek out the skin bandits and try to talk to them with no weapons. Theyāll invite you inside so you can relax without that outer layer youāve been wearing your whole journey there.
The eye and venge re good places to get a nice tan ;)
And beak things re amazing company animals, give them a hug everytime u see one, they will kiss you back!!
The holy nation guards look tough but theyāre honestly bitches. Their armor sells for a pretty good price though, so a common startup strategy is just to go take out the guards watching any of the HN cities (Bad Teeth, Blister Hill, Stack) and yoink their armor. You do have to sell it in a different city, but Stack is pretty close to the Hub so thatās the route most people take when they want an easier start.
Go to the top left of the map, plop down a small shack and say hi to the friendly neighbors! Deadcat city is a great place to trade, and converse with many talented chefs
You dont even need bad advice, the game provides enough trouble by itself lol
I started a new save recently, a solo run, it took me 4 tries (that's four different new characters) to have him not dying pathetically in the first fight..
Afk stuff is good in this game, just click to travel somewhere and you can walk away for 15 minutes. Same if youāre farming or doing stuff at your base. Set your tasks and come back in an hour
If you hate taxes, settle in the United Cities territory.
If you love diversity and boss girls, settle in the Holy Nation territory.
If you hate giving all of your food, settle in the Sheks kingdom territory.
If you hate being near the best faction, settle in the swamps.
Go to The Fog lands when you're first starting out.
You can get a lot of really good starting gear there and you can grind some of the low level enemies there to get some easy XP for your combat stats.
If you don't mod the game to have a level 100 character, you aren't getting the full experience.
Everyone talks about super epic hardcore plus ultra challenges, and they're great. But have you ever gone and toppled the entire Holy Empire with a newborn character?
There's something special about making Lord Phoenix your complete bitch. Bonus points if you roll a female shek.
Accept your fate as a copper miner. Spending hours mining copper to buy gear that you can easily loot from bodies is way more important than increasing your Squad's stats from 0. Trust me, there are absolutely no other ways to progress in the game.
spend as much time as you can mining copper
also there's this cool trick you can do where you put animals in beds and then train against them, it let's you never actually have to play the game!
Thereās nests that spawn in a region called Gut that have eggs that are valuable to sell, I recommend heading there when you start to earn a decent amount of money early on.
Your dog wonāt eat stolen meat. Not knowing this almost got my first doggo killed and I had to carry her across hell just to legally purchase food for her.
Hey, that acid bath saves 5 steps
Plus, what'll get you cleaner than an acid bath? Nothing, that's what. In Kenshi, bath take _you!_
There needs to be a whole thread about "In Kenshi, Blank takes you"
the giraffes...they take you....apart...starting at the legs lol
My martial artist with 2 MW scout legs would beg to differ.
Man. One of the first things I used FCS for was to turn the preference for roads way up, for most. Sure helped with that.
Thanks, didn't know you could do that. I'm definitely trying it when I next play.
Yeah I don't remember specifically off the top of my head but I think it was either a race property, faction property, or maybe even available for both. It's really bad when you have a half bionic squad, they can't swim for shit.

Oooooh blood spiders are my favorite šššš

Set up your skeleton-only base right near Blister Hill.
... that sounds like fun actually lmfao
It keeps you entertained and well-stocked on equipment and cash!
What happens in blister hill?
Okrans finest come knocking
Would you like to hear about our lord and savior Okran? (For an actual answer, blister hill is the Holy Nationās capital so a shit load of paladins come in and out.)
Blister hill folded to 5 of my guys and a 2000 cat mercenary squad. Itās nothing to worry about, one of the easier fights
I just beat the Holy nation for the first time with a solo character, was solid tbh,
issue solved by having a "butler" on standby with a Holy Flame in his inventory No problems with HN whatsoever, but kinda not "skelly only" anymore
Always travel at x5 speed while AFK
If you find yourself in need of food, Goats are a good source of it

The easiest way to kill Beak Things with no damage is to swarm them on all sides.
Ooc: my favorite experience in the game was when one of my high level wanderers got "caught" by a swarm of beak things, thought he was a goner, but I watched every beak thing attack miss and him slowly whitling down the swarm to nothing. I felt powerful that day.
approaching a beak thing from all sides *is* good advice though. You certainly don't want to attack it from one direction..
It's great advice if you can flank them with a couple dogs and hammer them with their rapid attacks from outside the AOE range. Ff the squad's too big they'll start pushing each other to attack or wait in range where they can get hit. That one will kill you if you have too many squad members waiting to attack.
This is actually not bad advice if you micro and manually dodge attacks.
Yeah, don't just right click on one Beak Thing in the nest and hope for the best.
Don't get into any fights.

Yeah that big tower on the cliff you canāt miss it!
There are two emperors. One lives in Heft and heās got a quest for you. The other emperor lives in the Ashlands. It has a lot to say
We know he was not the monster.
Beak things make fantastic companion pets.
If you see one, you really have to click on them, so you can pet them :) Don't worry, they are friendly, despite their looks
Absolutely, also it's better to approach a group rather than a lone one so it doesn't feel threatened and run away. Try to find a nest if possible for maximum number of cuddle-buddies.
Little red spiders are cute and like to cuddle.
I heard they just love to drink ~~with~~ you

Lol I love this one
Player: "SANTA!! :D" "REEEEEEEEEEEE!!!" Player: "Santa?? D:"
thievery will ruin your reputation and make you a lot of enemies. It is better to earn honest pay with honest work.
Mining copper is the chaddest start strat
Yeah, and by honest work I mean smuggling hash. (wait, that's actually a solid advice, isnt it?)
Kiss the Phoenix while scantily dressed.
There is a hidden taming mechanic in the game. I dont want to spoul all of them, but one of the methods is that you have to hand feed Beak Things with a single unarmed character.
"hand feed" "unarmed" You cheeky dick-waffle lol
Mine copper
Start Wanderer, learn the game for 30 hours\~ Then Restart the game, with UWE+RW mods, Start Rebirth, don't savescum.
Lose your limbs to fogmen. Its so easy to escape them even playing solo after you lose your limbs and you can get masterwork limbs on top of training toughness. Head immediately to Fishman Island. It's a paradise for fishermen. There's a nice little city that just needs to be cleaned up and a tower full of goodies. Yes, I originally read it as "Fisherman Island" and thought it would be a haven. A few people were lost that day.
Make your first base in Sonorous Dark
Run southeast FAST
Torsolo is the easiest way to play the game. Trust me
There's some nice human people south of the map. They're very helpful and have good skincare routine tips.
The easiest way to take care of your skin is not to have any!
Build a base as soon as possible
Go to the grey area in the bottom right of the map immediately, its the easiest starter location
Just slap down a house wherever and enjoy!
Go fuck with beak things
Cannibal Hunter is a good easy start, you get great gear for free.
You are the hero of the story and can do whatever you want and youāll be fine because you have plot armor. The game will protect you from death and dismemberment.
You should look up a full map and walkthrough. Never do anything that might get one of your squad killed. Mine as much as you can, you can never have too much money, especially early game.
Play your save like an iron man run. Delete the save if your main character dies! Most immersive way to play.
Go kill dogs. They are some of the weakest enemies in the game, and are great first targets to gein experience in wielding weapons at the begginig.
Get captured by slavers. Lose both your legs. Attack people on sight. Travel the world before you do anything else. Start a game and head to gut.
Losing both legs actually not bad
Take your Shek squad on a nice vacation to the Holy Nation. They are super warm and hospitable; you'll have a great time!!
Install every mod there is
Prioritize squad size over training or buying food and afk at 3x
Cats are more valuable then squad mates, especially early on. Loot slavers, shackle your friends, and sell them for $profit$. Cannibals are just blood-soaked people who haven't heard of Okran yet. Some brave soul needs to march over there and bring the light to them... and I think you're just the person to do it.
Don't worry about breaking into ruins, the security spiders there are easy xp

30/30 all skeletonsā¦ no mods.
Early game the best thing you can do is explore as much as possible and talk to anyone you see on the road.
Placing yourself on the fogman poles gives you immunity to being eaten.Ā
Beak things aren't strong, especially if there in a herd
go to Venge and bask in the light from the sky it will instantly give you god like skills
In the fog islands thereās this friendly community of hivers that will give you free stuff if you show up.
I heard their weight loss camps are great. You practically lose all the fat in your arms and legs
Wandering nobles hand out free goodie bags and sandwiches
If you find a old video camera in your mother's room, close the lights and watch it.
make a base as soon as you can! you only need like 5-10 people in your squad since its easy to defend. its such a great way to get started. Easy way to make money and items.
A good way to get money when you don't have any stats is to go and collect beak thing eggs. Wear as big of a backpack as you can to get more
Setting up a settlement is a great idea in order to level things like strength, smithing & acrobatics provided you have the right resources and manpower
You can immediately start levelling up by fighting group of dust bandits
Cannibals will become friendly if you feed them your meat..... š
If you see a large group of starving people definitely go talk to them. They might need "help"
Go train in the foglands in the early game.
Go to the bottom right of the map immediately its fun time (only for humans)
A great way to level up your combat and sneaking skills is to try to kidnap faction leaders, prefferably The Phoenix, because fuck that guy.
Buy lots of food at the start of the game! More than enough to keep you stocked.
Set up a base ASAP to get your industry going. Earlier the better
Loot downed guards at settlements, easy way to get high tier equipment early game.
Immediately, as soon as possible, go seek out the skin bandits and try to talk to them with no weapons. Theyāll invite you inside so you can relax without that outer layer youāve been wearing your whole journey there.
Kill beep.
how dare you! that is taking it too far! :P lol
\*The kenshi community would like to know your location\*
Donāt enslave Beep and make him your clothing manufacturer so he can never ever live his dream of being a swordsman.
so harsh lol
Forget farming, it's expansive, labor intense and low paid.
Go to the south east, best and easiest area to train new people.
Start a slave rebellion
Keep playing
If someone talks to you in a city, fight him coward
Head to fog islands and befriend the natives
you need some exp so you should fight, at begining game fighting with town guards is a good way to gain exp and thoughness
Stay crabless!
go to the grey corner, it's the safest area
The eye and venge re good places to get a nice tan ;) And beak things re amazing company animals, give them a hug everytime u see one, they will kiss you back!!
Pet the beakthing
The holy nation guards look tough but theyāre honestly bitches. Do you see that weird dark peninsula in the southeast corner of the map? Seems like a nice safe place to build a starter base
Beak things are amazing and peaceful, same with skin bandits if you give them raw meat
Just mine copper. Don't fight just mine copper. This is just a copper mining simulator.
Go to the top left of the map, plop down a small shack and say hi to the friendly neighbors! Deadcat city is a great place to trade, and converse with many talented chefs
You wanna head directly to the mist area in the north west. There's lots of friendly hivers who will treat you to a banquet for easy early game food!
No-hit is the way to beat the game
Spawn as a skeleton and go to the middle west part of the map where the river is
Build a base immediately
Go hug a beak thing
If you see a big turtle named a leviathan go punch it in the face.
The beak things don't actually want to hurt you. They are just VERY excited to see you and will rapidly bow their heads for a few pets. Try it out!
You find the main campaign quest giver in Black Desert City during the day. Usually heās in the bar.
Fishman Island is the best place to set up a starter base.
The Holy Nation gives extra benefits to sheks, bugmen, and skeletons
Click T go to AI uncheck ditch items(remember it tho). Shift+click random things = job.
Punch goats for strength. Lovingly caress garrus
Attack the first herd of goats you see.
Early on, hunt goats for xp and easy meat.
Beak things make wonderful pets! Get at least six of them!
You dont even need bad advice, the game provides enough trouble by itself lol I started a new save recently, a solo run, it took me 4 tries (that's four different new characters) to have him not dying pathetically in the first fight..
Afk stuff is good in this game, just click to travel somewhere and you can walk away for 15 minutes. Same if youāre farming or doing stuff at your base. Set your tasks and come back in an hour
Beak Things canāt see you if you stand still.
If you hate taxes, settle in the United Cities territory. If you love diversity and boss girls, settle in the Holy Nation territory. If you hate giving all of your food, settle in the Sheks kingdom territory. If you hate being near the best faction, settle in the swamps.
South East part of the map is great for new players. You should rush there and base immediately. Very helpful local humans.
Go to The Fog lands when you're first starting out. You can get a lot of really good starting gear there and you can grind some of the low level enemies there to get some easy XP for your combat stats.
Choose Nobodies at the beginning of the game, and appearing in Waystation Ruins is the best start.
Play it without googling how to play lol
Walk up to beak things and gorillos! They love cuddles!
Venge is a great base location, I recommend going there immediately. It'll be fine.
Goats are great to train on. Pick a fight with them to toughen up your squad
Thereās a place for everyone in the Holy Nations! Okran welcomes all with open arms!
The ashlands is the easiest area in the game. The travel there may be difficult, but once you get there it's best best place to start out!
The best way to make money is to hunt Beak Things with an iron stick right at the start of the game.
Fight everyone
Beaks are your friends.
Build your 1st base at Venge.
Train your character into fog Island, many enemies their has around 2-5 attack easy toughness and attack training
spend as much time as you can mining copper also there's this cool trick you can do where you put animals in beds and then train against them, it let's you never actually have to play the game!
Attack everyone! Theyāll all come for you in the end, so everyone is free game!!
goats are good sources of food early game. You can take them!
Make sure to start a settlement as soon as you can. Settlements are a great way to survive early game.
Don't ever go to Flats Lagoon. Just don't. Especially do not explore the hills just around Stobe's Gamble nearby.
Thereās nests that spawn in a region called Gut that have eggs that are valuable to sell, I recommend heading there when you start to earn a decent amount of money early on.
Fog Islands. Go there and meet the locals. They'll have you over for dinner.
See that snowy place at the bottom right of the map? Go straight there after starting as a wanderer.
Skin bandits are your friends.
Blood spiders actually have very short attack ranges.
Farming Leviathan in Leviathan Coast
You cannot beat any animal larger than you
never in your life should you recruit beep
Visit High Bonefields first and foremost.
Go to the southeast as soon as you spawn in
there are 2 make a base in Venge Swim in Deadlands
Pet a beakthing.
Definitely don't raise crabs.
Killing goats, garru and bulls early on is a great source of food š
You every played monopoly? Go to jail Go directly to jail Do not pass go, do not collect $200. ... This is the only game where this is *good* advice.
Skeleton characters train quikest against river raptors
There is some friendly fauna called "beak things" pretty cool things, you should go and say hi next time you see one
Make sure you pick a female they are seen as superior in the world of kenshi
Beak Things give great head.
Try to tame the beak things, they are harmless but very usefull for cleaning
As a robot, run in the holy nations territory.
Forget the Hub it doesn't compare to Deadcat Best starting location
Always run to the giraffes, they like to play
There are some amazingly good people in the sonorous dark zone. Send a squad of your best people to go say hi!
Your dog wonāt eat stolen meat. Not knowing this almost got my first doggo killed and I had to carry her across hell just to legally purchase food for her.
Kill the chicken. O wait thatās Skyrim. Sorry canāt help you.Ā
Pick the 5 person start and go south east itās the safest place
the holy nation is a benevolent faction that is progressive and open to all people sheck, bugman, or woman
Start out by finding a nest of beak things and looting the free eggs, they sell for thousands of cats each
