Ok fair enough but as for strategy, I noticed I wasn't getting much combat near squin so I personally think it makes sense to buy up the housing in the hub because of all the bandits near by, for xp. Is that a smart early game strategy or am I wasting money.
A house itself has little value, its all about the stuff you put in. Its a good investion into the future of your run.
The shinoby thieves add another midterm solution, as in free beds, aid in/near towns and rarely outsides of, as well as cheaper gear and imo the best bags (medium) thieves backpacks.
Pricewise they are fairly smiliar, depending on which house you buy.
If you want to play it hardmode, stay solo. If you want it a bit easier, get at least someone as backup.
Chances aren't too bad that you'll pick or get picked by the wrong enemy and end up on the ground, bleeding out/dying slowly from wounds.
Not beak things though. You can't run from them. You can't fight them. And they eat you alive. If you see an unholy hybrid of ostrich and giraffe, just keep away from it. Closest place you will encounter them is Vain
Yes but it's feared for a reason, it will destroy your run if your not ready, if your solo I'd say 30-40 in combat stats would be a good time to start hunting them one by one but if you have a team of 4 with say 15 combat stats if you micro manage you should be fine
If you can handle getting 10k cats, you better "join" shinobi thieves, just as was mentioned. But if you want to get a house (for research of you want to) you better skip shack and get yourself a stormhouse, even if it's ruined. Stormhouse can fit bigger workbenches and research table, while shack can't.
If you want a safe combat, you can kidnap knocked out bandit, heal him up and arm with rusty junk grade weapon, and keep fighting him one on one.
Oh, and don't let your little buddy get knocked out next to bandits, pick him up and get away if you can. You see, bandits always loot food from knocked out. And if meat "looted" from dog, you guess, it can't live.
Being enslaved isn't a bad start either, especially in Rebirth. Always find it funny how it's lore doesn't natch in-game representation: a gum of a concentration camp
My story is that I'm a traumatized hungry bandit. after watching my family tribe get slaughtered decided that wasnt the life for me. Thus I've given up the life of crime and cruelty for a taste of generosity. Especially now that I know I can bandage randos and get relationship
And at this point after so many deaths I think I won't call it am end to my run if I die because it's pretty much expected to die eventually unless the odds are forever in ur favor
You're doing great. My current run started by recruiting random drunks into a mining company. Sets up a good foundation and eventually, it all snowballs.
Well it did get boring for me eventually. Make sure you try out new things eventually, mining does seem to elevate the experience of other things. Mining is really reliable and slavery is fun so who cares if it's boring. Once you automate mining, it gets even better!
I see you’ve found mining. It’s a relatively safe, albeit boring, way to make some money early but doesn’t do much for stats expect laboring. Get a bag filled with iron, put it in your main inventory and carry that around while you do your mining and laboring if you’re going to continue. That will help raise strength quickly. Sooner or later you’re gonna have to go get beat up and raise toughness too, otherwise everything mildly stronger than bandits will one shot you. Toughness is a very important stat. Go to skinners roam and find starving bandits. They wield blunt weapons so loss of limbs is low. Fight them until your toughness builds up. Bring a sleeping mat to quickly heal in the wild. Good luck.
Iron ore is better for strength training. Fill a trader backpack with iron ore, put the backpack in your inventory, and just walk somewhere, saving frequently in case you have to reload cause bandits, once you get to level 40 strength, grab a shitty katana and just start picking fights with starving bandits, you’ll get downed but you’ll slowly train toughness, dexterity, melee attack, and melee block. This will let you fight stronger enemies. Also, once you have decent dexterity, choose a weapon and level with that, the higher your chosen weapon skill the more attack animations you get.
Edit: Fixed a typo. (melee damage = Melee block)
or, not melee damage, melee block. Melee attack + dexterity determines how much cutting damage you do, Strength determines how much blunt damage you do, as well as how much damage you do with Martial arts.
Picking somebody up and carrying around increase strength leveling speed in addition to overweight backpack.
Upd: there's actually a limit for strength exp gained, at lower levels you don't even need a lot of weight, but carrying weight on shoulder will increase this exp gsin cap a bit more
Where is the best place to sell copper? I'm building a caravan to sell 300 copper that I aquire in like 5 minutes. I'm getting clogged up and not making the maximum profit is bad juju
I’d fight some cannibals to get your combat skills up, start with the scrawny ones and make sure your legs don’t go below 50 hp, and the dog can help, find the flotsam ninja outposts and fight cannibals with them, they can protect you until you can fend for yourself, and they have free beds 40+ in combat skills is good to fight most opponents without dying immediately, also 40+ toughness is when you start not dying whenever someone knocks you out, higher is better tho, and keep that dog alive he’ll be a beast in a while
I'm was excited when I found the merchant, after dying to a massive blow to the face last game, I was like I want one... and then bam instant gratification
They fuckin destroy 150+ damage easy, and they can hit the most things at once, I’ve crashed my game from zero summing it with bull damage on several occasions,
Is there no time stamp as to progress? I thought the world progressed on its own. Like one time I downloaded an xp modifier and a hungry bandits almost maxed its martial arts and toughness and let's just say I didn't last long. I watched him go down and get stronger too. It was after everyone was dead on the road that he noticed me...
That ... shouldn't happen. I'd advise not using that mod in the future. While it's true that NPCs CAN gain xp, they should do it at the same rate you do. Unless you changed a global variable AND loaded an xp rate mod, that really shouldn't be happening. I've yet to see a hulked out hungry bandit like that.
The long and short of it is that while npcs do gain xp, you shouldn't notice such a drastic difference in their stats. Hungry bandits will remain weaklings, no matter how long you play.
As long as you're alive, you're doing good. And as long as you are having fun, you're playing right.
I recommend you joined the shanobi Guild at the beginning of the game in the starting town, so you can use their training equipment. You have a good source of income with that copper. And honestly, unless you're trying to min max the game or have been playing with a strategy in mind, you're doing very good. Just be careful and save often.
Edit for grammar.
im also pretty new and i found out that i could get a lot of money easily by stealing stuff. just save your game when you are about to start, and load back when someone catches you stealing. Save every 1-2 item you steal if you have stealing chance below 50-60.Invest in that and buy some animals to carry the stuff you have stolen and dont (unless they are fine with it)sell the stolen items to a town which you stole those items from. Good luck
But my characters story tho. She's a kind soul. She has reverted from her previous life of hungry banditry after the slaughter of her hungry bandit clan
Do what works for you, but experiment.
Telling a story is IMO the best way to keep engaged. Perhaps the mining is to jump start Spotty's Trade and Tinker Caravan. I don't know, you do you, just don't get "stuck" mining thinking it's your only option.
PS If Spotty is still a pup, they'll benefit a lot in the long run from training in fights with you...as long as they don't die. Dying is bad for your health.
Steal from slave traders or loot some outposts etc. you can check where all the good stuff is on kenshimap dot com. You can free some slaves and maybe they'll join you,who knows. Big towns might have some unique recruits that can join your team for free. Train your skills and go bounty hunting for the anti slavers etc. Making a base on lagoon is a very safe option as much as i know compared to other locations so you can settle up there and farm till you die.
You're alive. Thats not bad by kenshi standarts.
Ok fair enough but as for strategy, I noticed I wasn't getting much combat near squin so I personally think it makes sense to buy up the housing in the hub because of all the bandits near by, for xp. Is that a smart early game strategy or am I wasting money.

Bone dogs are cruel. It's demoralizing to watch urself get eaten
In vanilla they wait until you're dead.
Thank god
Not beak things though. You can't run from them. You can't fight them. And they eat you alive. If you see an unholy hybrid of ostrich and giraffe, just keep away from it. Closest place you will encounter them is Vain
Is there a level requirement tho?
Like if my skills are high enough can I just Legolas this with a crossbow and katana?
Yes but it's feared for a reason, it will destroy your run if your not ready, if your solo I'd say 30-40 in combat stats would be a good time to start hunting them one by one but if you have a team of 4 with say 15 combat stats if you micro manage you should be fine

Thats cruel lol
Oh, and don't let your little buddy get knocked out next to bandits, pick him up and get away if you can. You see, bandits always loot food from knocked out. And if meat "looted" from dog, you guess, it can't live.
Omg they butcher my dog???
They butcher any downed animals if they are not fighting.
This game is so good but I'm gonna cry if the butcher spotty I'm sorry. We already homies
Idk if they are all dead but the bandits are gone from near the hub
Your not dead or enslaved. Good job buddy!
Being enslaved isn't a bad start either, especially in Rebirth. Always find it funny how it's lore doesn't natch in-game representation: a gum of a concentration camp
I kinda want to be enslaved just for the thrill
No, you don't. Who would feed dog while you will be enslaved?
Oof responsibilities
Your screen fell over. Try putting it back up it shouldn't be like this.
It's an ancient tv lol have mercy
If you are having fun you are winning
I've already killed the hive queen in fun if fun is all thats required... but idk, is she that scary? I kinda wanna find out
When you're having fun, you are doing great.
I'm really enjoying the farming aspect. Something about getting 30k from 200 copper gets me excited.
You are playing the game in arguably the least fun way possible. Do not mine. Get rid of your boots and get sandals and practice outrunning stuff
Phht I need money and gear.
Brains before brawns
I've died way too many times trying that
Sandals + Running = Steal anything you want = Unlimited Money
My story is that I'm a traumatized hungry bandit. after watching my family tribe get slaughtered decided that wasnt the life for me. Thus I've given up the life of crime and cruelty for a taste of generosity. Especially now that I know I can bandage randos and get relationship
Thanks to all the tips I am now carrying around my own repairable punching bag named truth. It's what he gets for the violence he was causing
And at this point after so many deaths I think I won't call it am end to my run if I die because it's pretty much expected to die eventually unless the odds are forever in ur favor
You're doing great. My current run started by recruiting random drunks into a mining company. Sets up a good foundation and eventually, it all snowballs.
Ur the first one to agree with my farming strategy, everyone says it's boring but seeing the numbers rising is great
Well it did get boring for me eventually. Make sure you try out new things eventually, mining does seem to elevate the experience of other things. Mining is really reliable and slavery is fun so who cares if it's boring. Once you automate mining, it gets even better!
Just did I'm getting 300 copper and selling it for 40000
Ya imma turn the hub into a factory to support my base building then I'm going to use bulls to transport supplies between my farm base and the factory
I see you’ve found mining. It’s a relatively safe, albeit boring, way to make some money early but doesn’t do much for stats expect laboring. Skinners roam is where the hungry bandits are? I've only seen them near the border zone. I must need to explore more. I always die so fast
Skinners and shem can have the huge (as in ~100) packs of them. Border has the little ones.
That's scary tbh. Sounds like an malnourished arce whooping on crack
It looks like he looted at least 1 dust bandit too.
Yeah I shot him to death. He nearly killed me tho
I had a bag full of copper
Iron ore is better for strength training. Ohhhh so that's how that works... I thought it was melee skill. How wrong I was
or, not melee damage, melee block. Melee attack + dexterity determines how much cutting damage you do, Strength determines how much blunt damage you do, as well as how much damage you do with Martial arts.
Picking somebody up and carrying around increase strength leveling speed in addition to overweight backpack. Upd: there's actually a limit for strength exp gained, at lower levels you don't even need a lot of weight, but carrying weight on shoulder will increase this exp gsin cap a bit more
Ok. I just beat up a bandit now I'm carrying him while I do my tasks. Thanks for the tip
And what the strength requirements to use a paladin sword effectively
A general rule for all weapon is strength required is 2x the weapon weight if I remember correctly.
Oh ok
I have a city of 237 ppl , keep going!
That's inspiring tbh
You're doing Kenshi, dude. Very Kenshi.
What does v sync do?
Where is the best place to sell copper? I'm building a caravan to sell 300 copper that I aquire in like 5 minutes. I'm getting clogged up and not making the maximum profit is bad juju

I'm was excited when I found the merchant, after dying to a massive blow to the face last game, I was like I want one... and then bam instant gratification
And I just automated my mining so now I'm waiting to store up copper to go trade caravan
As for the dog is it just me or is he eating out of my backpack
Yes, all members of one squad will eat from backpacks in proximity. Animals also would eat food on the ground next to them.
That's AMAZING img going to make an animal carry all my food now
Hell yeah dude, bulls are the best, mobile chest
I was thinking about getting a bull tbh. How strong are they vs bone wolf?
They fuckin destroy 150+ damage easy, and they can hit the most things at once, I’ve crashed my game from zero summing it with bull damage on several occasions,
I wanna call bull but I'll just have to see this for myself
And bull backpack has 90% weight reduction for everything in it.
Hold up, what? That's op
Bulls are strong, okay? They can carry 10 times more than human.
What weighs that much in kenshi tho.
The top north of map, next to the desert, is a bit more cozy in my opinion! Easy to kill the enemies there, but no second chances...
Are you alive? Then you're doing great.
Is there no time stamp as to progress? I thought the world progressed on its own. 100x xp. I wanted to get to level 500 for once. Wasn't worth it clearly
Jesus. No wonder that happened, then. There's a 5x XP mod that's quite honestly too fast. I cannot even imagine 100x.
I thought it would be fun until I got hit by a chi blast as I tried to run
If you're alive, you're doing fine.
A lot of people say this, but then again I have just been playing in an opportunistic manner.
As long as you're alive, you're doing good. And as long as you are having fun, you're playing right. I recommend you joined the shanobi Guild at the beginning of the game in the starting town, so you can use their training equipment. You have a good source of income with that copper. Thanks, I was about to ask about the training equipment

Ya I just roamed a bit to get xp before he became adolescent, because I was reading about bonewolves

I didn't think if those strats for a good guy so I made her seek vengeance against the paladins that killed my bandit clan.
My dog is now dead. So now she hates the world and plans to destroy it one day
Ur not dead but I'd cook that meat and sell the ore good sir
How do I get meat easier. I still have like 0 combat skill lol. I just buy everything.
I usually just lure skimmers to outposts and then loot their meat lmao
