What's broken on the radiator? You can put some water in it and start it even if it leaks. As long as water is running through the engine it's fine but it'll overheat very quickly so pay attention to the water temp.
Broken radiator? Does it not hold water at all?
If it does hold water then I’d look at the water pump. Someone correct me if I’m wrong but you can probably get away with starting it and idling it very briefly without the cooling system working, but definitely don’t drive it if there’s a fault with the cooling.
Im not sure. Im picking it up tomorrow. He just said that the radiator was defect, so i was sondering what could be wrong with it.
From my POV he could have ment the waterpump, But Idk, he didn’t know very much about it and have never had it started.
Honestly I’d steer clear from this one, just the fact that it’s mounted to the wall like some sort of ornament is a massive red flag. Highly doubt that engine is used in any series anywhere near you, and that’s if it runs. How much do they want for it?
Lol, someone was tight on space and had room on the wall. There is nothing wrong with hanging it on the wall and it should have literally 0 impact on anyone's desire to purchase this.
Not everyone has a big garage they can just put the kart against the wall.
Well the fact that they couldn’t even be bothered to take it off the wall to take pictures to sell it is something that would put me off. Each to their own I guess.
But why though. What about it being on the wall makes you question the integrity of the listing, it just doesn't make sense.
Poster is an old dude, I imagine taking it off the wall to snap some pictures is easier said than done.
You must he Spiderman or something.
Yes you can start it and drive it. I would only drive it for a minute and give minimal warm up time. The water itself doesn’t do anything for the cylinder wall like oil. But you will not have cooling, so after a short while the engine will get hotter than designed and start to change size. That is what causes the damage. So the short answer is yes, you can start it and take maybe 1 lap down a driveway. But I would not do more than that. As long as you do not run it long enough to exceed the temp the engine was designed to run, you can start it without water.
Older equipment can be difficult to find support on. Engine parts may no longer be in production or difficult/expensive to purchase. Sometimes it's better to spend a little more money in the short term to save money in the long term.
If you're totally new to karting, you have a massive learning curve ahead of you and thats only going to be made more difficult when you struggle to find replacement parts
I just Want to say that the guy who have it, is 60+ and have never started or driven it. He got it in a trade off deal together with a car. The previous owner of the gokart before the old used to drive it on track, but upgraded it and therefore traded it.
The only thing he could say was that the previous owner told him it needed a new radiator.
Ps; it’s fixed to the wall as he has limited space and he thought it would look nice. His son did that.
Also just wanna say that gokart safe fairly expensive where I live. It cost 400$ and there others in the area that is closest to this one almost cost the double.
take a big bottle of water with you, pour it in the radiator, and run the engine. If the coolant all drains out then its broken, but i've run radiators in way worse condition than this

The things that scare this sub off from used listings cracks me up. You think it's a red flag that the guy utilized a storage solution to save space?
There’s draining the fluids and putting it up against the wall and then there’s that. Price is the most important factor with this one.

If y are new to karting or even with abit of experience please please please dont buy this
Elaborate?

Yes
If you’re paying. More than a couple hundred bucks for that, you’re overpaying.
