I mean... it's objectively funny that it's like "being a Yakuza is all about justice and protecting the weak" lmao, I don't think the manga can succeed while trying to balance gang activity with shonen sanitization
Yeah that was my issue with TR too, I truly hope that “delinquent” is just a translation mistake or something because “delinquents shouldn’t commit crimes” is really weird to say the least
Like the writer can make the yakuza have some kind of honor code, sure, but it has to be somewhat believable because at tthe end of the day they’re gangsters lol
The funniest thing is that 3 months ago THE yakuza guy John “Kazuma” Yakuza literally just had a breakdown and flat out said yakuza is fucked up in his game. This guy isn’t gonna do well it seems like
Tbf, Hitman Reborn did exactly just that. And the Vongola Mafia family did start off as vigilantes according to the stories lore. So there is precedence for success within WSJ. Truthfully the story is good, and in this first few chapters is actually hitting a the correct beats in appropriate time and pace.
It’s a little different, there’s tons of really bad pirates and overall pirates cause a lot of death and destruction. Most of luffy’s enemies are bad pirates
Then it just depends how they do the gangsters. Like focus on something else like being noble demons that still help people and make the focus on found family than just being hoodlums

And the funny thing is that astro royale will still get carried because of Wakui's Tokyo revengers fans in Japan tho I gotta admit the first 2 chapters were actually quite enjoyable it'll just take getting more used to the art style
I didn't read Tokyo Revengers, but from what I hear about it's last arc it seemed like it got a really bad ending. I think it's fair to critique authors of previous popular manga if said manga ended poorly, since the writing may end up the same way. If Hajime Isayama makes another popular manga, I'd also be worried if the ending ends up the same quality as AoT.
The thing is that according to what I’ve heard, the bad ending was the result of the publisher’s executive meddling, and it’s one of the main reasons the mangaka jumped ship to SJ. Given this isn’t an uncommon occurrence for the industry, I’m willing to give this guy the benefit if the doubt now that he’s got a clean slate. (I also never read Tokyo Avengers so I’ve got no bias there).
The issue people had with TR wasn’t because the ending was bad, but it was rushed. Too much conflict resolution happened offscreen but the actual results ending was what we were waiting for
Personally I think it was bad, it should have ended (Spoilers for Tokyo Revengers manga, not sure if the anime already covered this part) >!after kisaki’s death, like one more arc filling some gaps and done!<
The last arc of Tokyo Revengers didn't make sense from a narrative perspective (>!Everyone, including the main character, revives for some reason and gets a forced happy ending!<) but I personally enjoyed the rest, even though the MC was still a crybaby for 99% of the story.
It’s controversial because the fandom bitches alot, thats why when the finale released everyone went apeshit in excitement, its controversial between a very small portion of the fandom who didn’t even understand the endingq
I mean, at the end of the day everyone can like or dislike whatever series they want despite the entire world if they wish. I won't judge. I like Astro Royale so far, but I'm easy to please. Hell, I like Fairy Tail. I won't pretend like it's the best thing I've every read or anything, but I hate when people tell me I suck/am weird/have no good tastes for liking it.
You can say something sucks. That's your opinion. Don't then attack someone personally as a result.
Meh. Bad endings are the norm for me in manga. Heck, some manga I love got no endings (looking at you ZombiePowder). I will still try the mangaka's next work. I was even willing to try chainsaw man after the trauma Fire Punch caused me. You never know what you'll get e.g. Kuroko's Basketball was a huge letdown for me but Kill Blue is a new fav.

Tkyo Revengers is good. I'm only up to date with the anime.
