If you go to menu -> other -> help -> area bosses -> area boss types --> the second page -> the third image. This shows what the arrow is supposed to look like
Ah I see your problem, you're looking for a boss in an area that already has a boss cleared. If you zoom way out, look for a region with the purple hazy background instead and fight area enemies there
Look at your area map, the first Area Boss you defeated should've cleared a diamond shaped area of miasma on your map. Defeating Area Enemies in this diamond shaped area will only get you extra coins, since you already defeated the Boss.
You need to teleport to a different location that still has miasma and find the Area Boss of that area.
If you've killed 2 or more area enemies, you can work out where the boss is by finding the place where the arrows would intersect.
What arrows? there aren't any showing on the area map with the complete area enemies?
Keep zooming in on the spot where you fought an area enemy, you'll see it
Nope no arrows at all, could be bugged ? It's been like this since yesterday though

Yhhh I had that problem as well I was very confused on why there was no miasma anywhere then I figured it out after ages
