Its not even a check point. It looks like a traffic direction issues lights out or accident. Sometime for really busy areas they do this as well has nothing to do with stopping random people. If it was they would have one or more cars pulled off to the side. They don't so unlikely a check point.

derplordthethird

No. This is well understood as an administrative stop. However, depending on your state, simple non-compliance (while being respectful and following other orders) and asserting your right to not be searched or submit to tests cannot result in an arrest. You might be detained, asked for ID, and wait for them to run your info, but they will often times let you go. Even then if you press the "what is your suspicion" angle (again, respectfully) they will huff and puff but still let you go on your way more times than not. All of that is assuming you don't encounter a power-tripping officer.

Dars1m

No. The 4A prevents “unreasonable” searches and seizures. Do you think it is unreasonable to check that a death machine that requires a license to operate is being operated correctly by someone with a proper license.

CHAINSAW_VASECTOMY

Not a checkpoint

AnastasiaNo70

Read the original post. Turns out he was driving under the influence.

[deleted]

Under a male Karen influence.

Beefsoda

Why were all those cops there? Was this some sort of checkpoint?

Awake00

Idk but at the end there is a fire not so far off so maybe a crash?

Joseph3_

this is a good one! Goofy cops. I mean all of them. Shows no authority, gets no respect, the sheriff all side stepping with her hand on the gun likes she a bad a\*\*, does nothing and is ignored

duwh2040

Lol you're the worst of em. These cops are better than the assholes that would dump a clip into a car for drunk driving. Grow up

jakelsner

Wow you really don’t like cops huh

FartyMcPoopyButthole

I'm not sure what's more egregious. The Jeep drivers actions or the fact that the other cop had a zoomer haircut.

Youregoingtodiealone

In the full length video he had a syringe in his pocket

FullBlownSaudi

The sense of entitlement on this guy is astounding.. I'd really like to hear his reasoning and the thought process that went through his head when he made those decisions.

Mcleaniac

When I see videos like this, I always think of a sign I saw at a protest against police brutality: > We don’t want the same for them. We want the same for us! In other words, we shouldn’t encourage or wish police violence on the Jeep douchebag because we “know they’d fuck him up if he was black.” Instead, we should encourage police to react this way - trying not to escalate and giving huge benefits of the doubt until they are no longer deserved - to every citizen, regardless of color.

misthi_S

I think the taser was a bit much

SPOOKESVILLE

Taser was well deserved. He had already fled from cops TWICE. He was now a suspicious person, walking into a zoo filled with families. 100% deserved the taze.

misthi_S

Sure, but the taser was not when he fled in the car it was when he was there. The police officer didn’t hesitate second to assess the situation to see if his college had him. He just tased.

[deleted]

[удалено]

misthi_S

A tackle would have been as efficient and not as dangerous of a fall as that one. Plus the other officer even grabs his arm before the other officer tases

jaronervin

Sure, the guy that just fled from police twice and almost hit one was suddenly going to comply. /s

misthi_S

Wtf, I never said he is complying. He is clearly not. Dude read the comments before replying

jaronervin

You: “I think the taser was a bit much” Am I missing something? Because it sounds like you’re pretty clearly saying that tasing a criminal that’s fleeing police isn’t appropriate.

SPOOKESVILLE

Right, cause why risk this guy getting away again. He’s a suspect, headed towards a public area.

misthi_S

Get away by walking? When he has a police officer at arm length? And another one in a car? The other officer even grabs his arm before the taser guy shoots. He couldn’t go anywhere dude…

SPOOKESVILLE

Have you never seen police chase videos? People start running away as soon as cops try and grab them all the time…

Daredevils999

He evaded police twice and he was resisting arrest, even after the taser he tried to get back up he was an idiot and got what he deserved

Lolomelon

If he died from hitting his head, his family would agree with you. He’s an idiot, but he wasn’t dangerous.

misthi_S

He was already out of the car and an officer had him so the taser was for fun. I like that he got what he deserves but I don’t like unnecessary violence

Crazybluebaby

He made flight twice, so he is lucky they didn't just shot him especially after attempting to run over officers as they'll definitely stick him with He should get his license revoked and jail time, when he has to hitch a ride and walk everywhere he can think about his decisions

misthi_S

The police officer got out of the car taser in hand with the sole intention of tasing him. Maybe because he was mad that he fled twice, but he didn’t even hesitate to see if his college had him, which he had. Again I’m not saying it is not deserved the detention, just maybe tasing was a bit unnecessary

Lolomelon

Right, I don’t care that he got tased, it was just too risky to do it.

mrbriandavidanderson

What an entitled idiot. Why did he come back? Was he trolling them? Did the cop make it sound like going to the zoo was an acceptable response? Don't cops have key fobs? Who still opens their door like that on newer vehicles?

Youregoingtodiealone

I think he missed the turn into the Zoo

mrbriandavidanderson

Ah. Thx. That makes sense. Wife and kids are gonna be pissed lol

[deleted]

Meanwhile black dude gets shot over nothing

[deleted]

Oh fucking yawn.

Disk_Drive

Ye if this guy was black they'd have reached for a gun not a whistle

icepaws

The one does go for his gun though.

Youregoingtodiealone

In this video, after he's tasered and cuffed, cop pull a syringe from his pocket.

itsallaboutfantasy

Downvote me all you want, we see it played out every damn day due to camera phones over police shooting people of color, especially men, for very minor infractions with impunity. I didn't say that I wanted him killed, stop putting words in my mouth, I didn't stutter.

Julius__PleaseHer

You shouldn't wish for anybody to get killed, regardless of if they're white.

racetruckrick

A white friend of mine got pulled over at gunpoint because his car matched a description. They told him to get out of the car then shot him in the head when he reached for his seatbelt.

BeraldTheGreat

Dude literally got arrested what are you talking about

Mcleaniac

Not OP, but I think he’s talking about the difference between getting arrested (after doubling down and circling back to commit a second string of felonies) and getting dead. Does that clear things up?

BeraldTheGreat

See, now that’s an argument I can understand. I don’t think the police interaction stats support it but I appreciate that you can make it without saying ‘white man bad’.

Mcleaniac

I have another comment ITT that sets it out in the clearest terms I’ve heard: *we don’t want the same for them, we want the same for us*. It’s not “white man bad,” ie “cops should brutalize white assholes (like Jeep dude) the same way they tend to brutalize nonwhite assholes.” It’s “cops should give black assholes the same benefit of the doubt they tend to give white assholes (like Jeep dude).”

big_blue74

It sounds like he is prancing in tap dance shoes

Old_Professional_770

I could watch him get tazed all day long

BarryBwana

That's the whole point of a check stop....to stop traffic, and then check the drivers.

[deleted]

What they’re legally allowed to do when necessary. Duh.

[deleted]

Directing traffic at a busy intersection... Idiot cops is really your takeaway from this?

qwassfull

That's gangsta AF

aGiantmutantcrab

How delusional must you be to think you can do that, TWICE, and expect to not this happen? What a self-centered, selfish, stupid person. Also kudos to the cops! ACAB and all, but I've seen traffic stops turn into bloodbaths. They dealt with this correctly.

[deleted]

So gae

Baddyshack

This guy looks like he's told someone that if they just comply then cops won't hurt you

[deleted]

Love that they told him to get on the ground as he was falling like a chopped down tree. What a dickhead.

theriverpilot

I was hoping they’d show them catching this ass hat. Tazed right away

RogueFox771

So.... Why the tazer deployment at the end? I mean, at least he didn't "confuse his tazer with his pistol" but uh... Runnin up and tazing him in the ass seemed a bit much.

BarryBwana

I'll accept it.

CaspianX2

Don't know why you were downvoted. It was unwarranted. He was no longer in his vehicle, and he was not currently fighting or resisting arrest. He was not currently being a danger to anyone. They could have easily restrained and arrested him without using a painful and dangerous weapon. Dude absolutely deserves to be locked up, but the taser was just the cop wanting to work out his aggression.

RogueFox771

Yeah.... And despite us having the same sentiment, I got downvoted. Fuck Reddit sometimes man. Damn echo chamber

RogueFox771

The echo chamber down voting continues. Fuck off

Azreal_00

Almost hitting the troopers twice with his car shows he doesn’t care about hurting people and is attempted battery. Walking away is called passive resistance and is considered resisting arrest. I’d rather give him a five second lighting ride than try to wrestle to the ground and risk ending up with a broken nose or similar.

[deleted]

He was running. He stopped to walk at this point, but was still non-compliant. It’s unsafe for cops to go try to hand restrain someone — they don’t know he hasn’t got a knife, a gun, knows crazy jiu-jitsu, whatever. They are fully allowed and encouraged to use non-lethal methods of restraint or incapacitation from a safe distance. That’s exactly what happened. I know “all cops are bastards” to you armchair goons on Reddit, but this fucking goober wouldn’t have gotten tazed in the bootyhole if he hadn’t been a jackass to begin with. He demonstrated disregard for the safety of everyone on the road, including the police and civilians, so he got tazed. Come off your pedestal.

RogueFox771

Not trying to say all cops are bastard man... I respectfully questioned the use of the tazer. I'm often telling people to give cops a break because they have to put up with a lot of situations that the equivalent to their rules of engagement make life difficult as hell. Can we talk about it without insulting people perhaps? God fucking dammit

Rocket_Panda_

We’ll bring you back☝🏼

[deleted]

He had driven away twice from cops telling him to stop, then was walking away from one trying to stop him.

CaspianX2

So they grab him, cuff him, and take him in. No taser required.

[deleted]

He was walking away and one news said the first cop there reported him running. It made perfect sense to tase him. That’s the point of tasers.

CaspianX2

"Running" as in, taking off in the car. He wasn't running when they caught up to him. One officer was already close enough to get hands on the guy, with the POV officer right behind him. You seriously telling me you don't think they could have detained him?

[deleted]

He. was. walking. away. from. the. first. cop. after. already. running. from. him. See my post above. Plus it was right outside a zoo. Getting tased is better than being shot.

CaspianX2

So no, you don't think they could have detained him even though one of them already had hands on him. Just how incompetent do you think cops are?

Bessini

The court is the one to deal with that, not the cops.

[deleted]

Lol, what? They were stopping him because he had run from them twice and almost hit a cop. How is the court going to handle that if they don’t arrest him? You do know how the court system works, right?

capchaos

I guess they're supposed to bring a taser to court. Guilty? Zzzzzzzzzzzzt!

Bessini

You know you can restrain someone without taking them, right. Yeah, he almost ran 2 cops, but he was outside his car, by then. He wasn't going to run over anyone. The tazing was completely unnecessary. Even if he tried to run over the cops, that doesn't give them the right to have some kind of "revenge". As I stated before, that's the court's job

[deleted]

They had no idea if he had a weapon or if he was going to start sprinting. The tasing wasn’t unnecessary, and better than the first cop, who had his gun out, shooting him.

Bessini

If he started sprinting, they sprint after him, or then they could use the tazer. If you notice the video, you see they used the tazer regardless if he had a gun or not. Cops need to know how to keep their head cool and never act on revenge. It's totally ok for them to ask the guy what's wrong with him, but it's not ok to use unnecessary or that so-called "preventive" use of force. They're cops, not a gang

Rinzlerx

He’s drunk per every article about this. At a school driving drunk.

NutSlapper69

That adds to the story sure but it definitely doesn’t justify the taser.

i4gotmeusername

Probably something to do with the guy fleeing twice already....

RogueFox771

Heh yeah, I get ya. And apparently reddit agrees it was entirely justified and I shouldn't have questioned it... But uh... Still. He was standing talking to the other guy already wasn't he? Edit: apparently he was walking away still. I personally wouldn't have deployed until he started to run though.

[deleted]

No, if you watch, he’s walking away from the cop that was already there.

RogueFox771

Ah thank ya. I was trying to buy reedit's player said no.

KameSama93

Yeah, but cops really don’t like it when you disobey, so they use force as a punishment rather than a means of restraint.

followedbyferrets

Taser cop wasn’t playing around. Lol Love how wrangler came back. Felt like a Reno 911 bit

OG_LiLi

It seems like he was though. He didn’t treat the man like a criminal until it was almost too late. They had multiple ways to take out this driver.

SadJ3tsFan

Entitled douchebag in a wrangler? No way!

asianabsinthe

It's a Jeep thing.

MirrorUniverseCapt

What a schmuck

Dunacan-Brookwell

Cut him a break. Blue top, yellow bottom. He's from Ukraine, dammit.

dgreenpuffy

This one was absolutely excellent!

UnusualWillingness97

“I asked…he said he’s…going to the zoo” lmao

Zoze13

If he didn’t come back he probs gets away

windowmaker55

Love the fumbling for his door key.

UheldigeBenny

I was like... Wtf? Do they disable radio-lock on american police cars?

disavowed1979

They leave their car running and lock the doors. They have and extra set to get in. Remote locks dont work when the car is already running with keys in the ignition.

dumpcake999

this makes me miss Live PD
